Meeting for the estimate went well - just never called back. I can only assume the job wasn't big enough? Not sure.

Installation was completed in one day. The fence looks great. The salesman was knowledgeable and helpful, and even found the lot markers in our yard so we did not have to pay for an additional survey. The morning of installation, the crew had truck problems but we were contacted promptly, and they only arrived an hour later than expected. The fence has only been up for 11 days, but so far we are quite pleased with the materials, the crew, and the sales staff.
Description of Work: Amerifence installed a cedar five foot shadowbox fence with two gates in my back yard. The boards were smooth finished and dog eared, the fence a v-notch style, and the posts were finished with the Williamsburg design.

I have a complaint against Amerifence regarding for their unprofessional installation and use of inferior materials on the privacy fence installed last December. During the contract negotiations I was assured the fencing materials would be smooth with no exposed bark, but in fact, many have bark. I discovered these after the installation along with many warped, broken, mis-nailed and mis-spaced boards. I contacted them in January and a representative came out January 25th, surveyed the fence and agreed many needed to be replaced. I was told to contact them. I was ready to have the work done and they would bring a truck full of replacement boards to make the repairs, plus leave a few boards for me in case I needed to make further repairs. As the fence is warranted for 2 years, the gate for 1 year, I decided to wait through the seasons to see if further problems developed. During this time, I noticed the gate began to sag and came out of square and that it was not properly secured because it was attached to a stand alone post with no other support and that it did not have the proper cross bracing. I also noticed the hinges had been bent because they were applied to an uneven surface. This resulted in only a partial attachment of the hinge. I began phoning Amerifence on October 25th, leaving 5 messages through November 8th before any action was taken. On November 10th, the same representative arrived, listened to my concerns, one of which the stand alone post did not support the weight of the gate. He agreed to cross brace the gate and attach the post to the house by means of angle braces. An appointment was set for November 29th. That weekend, I realized there was no house stud in the location of the post, so on Monday November 29th, I contacted the company asking that two posts be brought as well so they could install this at the nearest house stud. This would assure the proper attachment instead of being attached just to siding and/or inside plywood. As this new post would require a new one on the opposite side of the gate it would mean that side needed a fence extension of less than 16 inches on that side. When the truck arrived, over an hour after the promised time, there were no posts. The representative tried to convince me it was not necessary to secure the post to a house stud. He said if I wanted it done my way, I would have to pay additional labor and materials. My feeling is that the salesman should have known the post needed more support and where to place it and how to attach it to the stud. If it had been done properly in the beginning, the problems would not have arisen. The representative disagreed, so I asked him to leave without doing any repairs because I felt all the problems needed correction at the same time. He offered to leave me some boards, but I declined because the issues were unresolved. he said he would not return and threatened that I would be receiving a bill. I would like the following resolutions: 1. No charge for materials or labor for repairing the improperly constructed and installed gate, gate posts and additional fencing required. 2. No charge to replace existing inferior fencing materials and unprofessionally mis-nailed, mis-spaced, broken and warped fencing materials. 3. A new gate post on the hinged side; a deep stud finder should be used to line it up to the house stud as close as possible to the siding. The post should be plumed. 4. An angle brace should be attached at the top of this post by means of pilot hold then bolted. The brace should be placed on the post, in a position so it can later be attached to the flattest portion of the siding immediately under the edge of the above piece, but it should not be attached to the house until the post has set up. 5. A new plumed gate post on the latch side installed in a manner to ensure the area is properly squared off, and the gate opening not too large or too small. 6. Replace all mis-nailed, mis-spaced, broken, warped and barked fencing. 7. Additional fencing installed for the expanded area. 8. To even the gate surface, additional boards need to be placed on the hinged side of the gate so the surface is flush from post to gate to all hinge screws. 9. The gate needs a solid wood cross brace to keep it square. The cross brace should go from top hinge side to bottom latched side. 10. Attach angle brace to house stud. Pilot holes for the 4" lag screws with washers need to be drilled in order to prevent the siding from splitting. The pilot holes need to be angled into the stud. The top one should be angled up, and the bottom one should be angled down. The lag screws should be advanced slowly enough to ensure the siding is not crushed or compromised in any way. 11. The gate should be mounted and the latch mounted last. 12. We request that the work be performed in warmer, drier weather, so we are able to monitor the work being done outside.

The salesman/ estimator came out promptly and the work was performed within 2 weeks. I 'm very happy with the quality and appearance of the fence. What left a sour taste in my mouth about the experience was this: The Amerifence salesman said that it would be $450 to take down and haul away the old cyclone fence. He said that if I took it down myself, that I could save this charge. I spent a whole day taking down the old fence and had bundled so it would be easy for them to load and haul away. I called Amerifence to confirm my balance the day the workers were finishing work. The lady who answered the phone at the Amerifence office told me it would be $450 to haul away the old fence. I told her what the Amerifence salesman had said. She told me she would check with the salesam about this. She called back and told me that the Amerifence salesman had agreed,on his own, to haul away the fence and that I would be charged $450 for Amerifence haul it away. Well, after 3 weeks, the fence was still there, so I ended up taking it to the city dump myself, at a charge of $30.

I want to start by saying that we are very happy with the fence that was installed in our back yard. The finished product is excellent but the journey was not a smooth one. Mike came to the house initially to give us a quote on a vinyl fence but in sitting down to discuss the job offered us an excellent deal on a cedar fence that had been ordered by a builder but not used. I took a day off to be home for the installation. The crew arrived at 8am on Friday morning and within 45 minutes had removed the old fence. The installation of the new fence seemed to go quickly. I asked the crew leader about installing an additional trim board at each post. He said that they did not have enough lumber on the truck but would return and finish on Monday. They left Friday about 6pm without my knowlege so I went out to look at the work. I was very disappointed in how the work was done. Trim boards were poorly cut, several posts were out of alignment and quite a few of the boards were damaged and needed tp be replaced. I called the office on Sat morning to register my complaints. Jan told me that she would cancel the crew on Monday and would set up a meeting with Mike to go over the problems. On Monday the crew returned with no one at home and "finished" the job. In cleaning up they removed some picket fence sections that I planned to use for another project and had left in the yard. Their work was totally unacceptable. I called the office again to report that they had come to my house without my authorization, done shoddy work, left nails and wood scraps scattered around the yard, and had hauled away my picket fence sections. After several phone calls I arranged to meet Mike to discuss the corrections that were required to meet my expectations. Mike agreed that everything on my list would be addressed and the crew was scheduled to come back and finish. On the re-installation day Mike arrived shortly after the crew, who were the ones who had done the original install. I walked through with them and went through the list of problems. They seemed to have no trouble correcting their sloppy work and cleaning the debris from the yard. I was pleased with their work the second time but do not understand why it could not have been finished properly on the first day. Mike and Frank, the owners of the company are great guys to work with and Jan in the office was unfailingly nice every time I called. There seem to be some communication issues within the company which I hope they can work through. The installation crew needs to understand the company standards and goals. They probably need to improve their training. In the end we have a fence that we are proud to have on our property and I hope will enjoy for years to come.

I found Amerifence on Angie's list. Their representative arrived in less than 24 hours. This was a small job but he treated me with great respect and attentiveness. The price was competitive, I was given a discount plus they hauled away some old fencing at no charge. The office personnel was very helpful in making preparations and calling "Holey Moley" to locate underground lines. The installers arrived promptly at 8:30 on the proposed date. They were extremely efficient and completed the job in about 4 hours. The cedar fencing is beautiful. I would definitely recommend Amerifence to anyone and will use them again.

The sales process went very smoothly. Amerifence was the lowest bid we got, so we went with them. After scheduling the date a few weeks out, we did not hear from them until a few days before installation. When they measured the back property line, it turned out to be closer to a line of trees than they originally thought. However the man in charge could not give a definitive answer whether they would be able to install the fence behind the trees or not. Communication in general was difficult. Eventually, one of the owners had to come out to sort things out. In the end, they put up the fence quickly and it does look great, however the mess and extra dirt left in the lawn was more than I was expecting.

I liked the man who came out to give me an estimate. The worker was very personable. On the internet they also have a good representation of their fences. It seems like everything was not straight forward with them though. When I asked them to see an example of their work. They at first hesitated, but then they got permission for me to see their past work. The work looked nice, but it did not look like a well finished problem.

I was not impressed at all with this company. I was pleased with their finish project, but they were a pain to work with. They came out to give us a verbal estimate, but I had never head anything formal or saw at least a written estimate afterwards. I wanted aluminum railing and I liked the verbal price quote that they had given, so I had not used anyone else. Then after a year they sent out someone new and the same situation happened. It was weeks and weeks of me calling to schedule the work with them. When they finally came out, the people that they sent did not speak English very well, and they did not really know what they were doing. It was really tricky explaining everything that I wanted them to do in broken Spanish. They did not even come the day that they said they would, and they also did not do a good clean up job. It had also taken them 2-3 weeks later for them to finish the job. The price was okay, but it was a hassle and I would not recommend them.

They sent me the estimate and they were around $1000 more than the other estimates I got. I would say price wise they were way out of line. They were supposed to get me the estimate within a day or two, but it took them a week. I didn't like the business part of their company. They came out when they said they would, but the estimate took too long and it was higher than everyone else.

We decided not to use their services to get the work done. They were very professional, organized and flexible as far as scheduling a time to meet us. They had certain hours than most of the other companies around seemed to have. On that end, we are very pleased and impressed with them. The estimation process was very thorough. The gentleman sat down with me and showed me the different samples. It was very useful. The company we decided to go with basically deals with better products than what Amerifence does. We went with a company that uses a higher quality of wood and which would be for a long term. However, the gentleman from Amerifence was very quick in responding to our call. Their price was among the best prices. We probably might not use their services again since we feel pretty good with the company that we are going with.

Shannon Gardener the sales rep came to my house and gave me an estimate. He was very helpful because he didn't try to just sell the most expensive fence, but rather to help me find a fence that best suited my needs. He was also very helpful to explain the overall installation of the fence and spent a lot of time explaining the advantages/diadvantages of different types of fencing. Janice the administrative office help was also very nice and direct in handling my payment and scheduling. The installation itself was very fast and efficient plus the quality at the end was outstanding (I have never seen two guys work so hard before). I did notice they forgot to install one cosmetic part I requested on the outside of the fence that I talked about with the sales rep that was on the contract which was really not a big deal. I called them to notify them and the owner himself called me to apologize and came out himself to install it. Overall I am very satisfied with the quality, price, and timeline of the work this company provides and would recommend them!

We had an estimate done approximately six months ago. We have dogs and were very concerned about safety/security and we wanted the fence to have a nice look. They were extremely responsive and carefully listened to our needs. They had so many options available that we felt comfortable the fence would be very secure for our dogs. We were very impressed that it is a local, family owned business and that they have their own mill. We decided to have them do the fence this spring and they were able to get everything together very quickly. They came and did the ENTIRE fence in one day. It was an extremely detailed, large fence and they were able to complete it in one day. Materials were very high quality. They were very professional, cleaned up thoroughly, and easy to work with. They made the gates on site and listened to everything we asked. They even helped fix a section of our sprinkler that we had to move inside the fence. I can't say enough about this company and we would recommend them to anyone. Our fence was expensive as it was big, detailed, and custom but they had a huge variety of options that would be doable on a budget.
