"I came on board to give an informed estimate. I came over more than once and I brought subcontractors with me. I took measurements and photographs and I got back complete information including design and drawing in a timely manner. The client paid me $100 as part of "The Deal." So this is a review of that process."
The subcontractors used were responsive to our needs and provided services not included in bid at reasonable cost. Â Overall a good experience with this group and would hire them again if needed further construction and certainly would recommend this group to others!
We now have a beautiful sun room to use year round to enjoy our view of the lake.
I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal which entitled us to a consultation at a reduced cost. Kathy Cuppy was extremely responsive and had an "I can help you" attitude from the outset. She came to see our condo and discuss our goals on a Monday. That Friday morning she had seven subcontractors here looking, measuring, discussing. She had a bid to us the next week. Impressive! Kathy and her husband, Dave, work as a team, and each bring their own talents to the business. This made us feel very good about working with them and they did not disappoint. Dave is a carpenter and the lead contractor; Kathy runs the office and interfaces with the customers and subcontractors (and gives good decorating advice too).
They do one job at a time, so you know your project will not be delayed due to another contract.
The bid included a time line and a proposed start and finish date. Many of the cost items (subcontractor ones) were a fixed price quote. Costs for demolition, dry wall hanging and carpentry were an estimate, and the billing for this was actual hours worked and materials used. This estimate was very accurate. Our job was completed on time. If we had stayed with our original plans we would have been under budget on the entire project. We added some things along the way so came in slightly over budget. Every time we discussed adding something they were up-front about how this would affect our end cost.
We totally gutted the kitchen and master bath. We removed walls. We closed off a couple of doorways in other areas. We installed all new lighting, cabinets, mirrors, flooring, appliances.
When we would ask about the possibility/feasibility of something major, like removing a wall, the answer was always realistic. They would tell us that it was possible and give a price range, but let us know that they would not have a firm price until they got in to the wall and could see what was there and how much time it took.
The subcontractors All Phase used for our job ranged from very good to superb. I felt very good about having them in my home.
We chose to be out of town for most of the time that the work was going on. During the time that we were here we were impressed by the work ethic and attention to detail of everyone who was in our home. Without exception every individual was polite, friendly, cleaned up after himself and seemed personally invested in our project.
I have heard may horror stories about major remodeling projects but experienced the opposite with Kathy and Dave Cuppy. I highly recommend All Phase for your project!
The whole process went very well. Dave Cuppy and his guys are extremely talented and professional. Dave came up with several solutions during the process to address problems with the job or new requests from me. He is very particular in his work and the final product reflects that. Kathy is a true pleasure to work with. She offers great design ideas, and is very positive and responsive. She also has great relationships with different vendors and her sub-contractors. Another thing I like about All Phase Group is that they stick with a job until it is complete. They do not hop from job to job. I came to trust them completely.
We love our new bathroom. It looks beautiful and we have received many compliments on it. It is super functional as well. We will definitely use All Phase Group again for other home projects. Not only are they good at what they do, they are fun, nice people to know.
"This was "The Deal" where the prospect paid me $100 for a consultation. My husband and I spent several hours going through a very large home top to bottom room by room. The prospect was renting this house and she wanted us to give her our opinion about whether or not she could remodel it and repair it...and whether or not she should buy it. We found SO many flaws in this house; we suggested that it would be very, very costly to remodel it the way she wanted to. A tremendous amount of information was conveyed. I am sure our paths will cross again in another house...on a future remodel."
Just like all of our previous experiences with All Phase, the project began on time, and was completed on time.  One of the things that Kathy does very well is that she keeps the project on schedule. We were surprised at how complicated a bathroom remodel could be, but with their help and guidance, it all came together beautifully.  Â
* Scheduling - once I agreed to the work they started with 2-3 days. I might have been lucky with timing, but with starting work so quickly I'm equally impressed with how efficiently the work was completed.
* Efficiency - the majority of the work was completed in 3 and a half days (excluding drywall finishing, painting, carpet, and completing electrical upgrades). They obviously can get sub contractors to come quickly, when they ask - electrical, plumbing, HVAC.
* Professional - they communicated clearly and regularly with me about what they would do, what I needed to do, what time workers would arrive, etc. They took care of all necessary permits (side note - they don't cut corners when it comes to getting the correct permits). They use a convenient lock box system for workers. They gave me architectural drawings and patiently discussed various details and options of things like door hinges and light fixture locations.
Area to improve - after my initial meeting with Kathy to look at the space, it took around 6 weeks to get a quote with a couple reminders from me.
Items of note:
* They really do seem to handle one job at a time (when it comes to their own workers and many sub contractors). This included framing, drywall, interfacing with HVAC, electrical, plumbing
* I gave them a "B" on price only because they are not the cheap, low-cost option. However, I'd give them an "A" when it comes to VALUE.
* They have solid relationships with various sub contractors, suppliers, etc. It's evident.
* The work is complete aside from the carpet install at the time I'm writing this.
Dave and the guys arrived promptly, as always, on time and got right to work. Before demo they draped plastic on my white carpeting. They were always considerate to avoid soiling or damaging anything. On the first day they removed the contents of the bathroom including the tub and floor. The toilet was placed in my garage for reinstallation. Everything else went into the dumpster in my driveway. Kathy provided me a time line of the project and everything was completed as planned. The entire process took about two weeks which included a few down days due to Thanksgiving. Not every part of the process required a full day but each contractor arrived on time, was clean and considerate of my home.Â
Kathy and Dave Cuppy explained everything and promptly addressed any questions or concerns that I had. These are great people to work with and I look forward to All Phase renovating my kitchen in the future.
"These clients were very friendly and expressed gratitude for all our efforts throughout this job. I appreciate the time they took time to write this review. This job had an extremely tight budget.. This is the only job we have ever taken where we were given "not to exceed instructions" and told to absolutely "stop work" when we got to a certain number. The client stated he could finish the work himself if we got to that number. With good planning and proper execution, we came in UNDER budget (under our good faith estimate). What they perceived to be a lack of supervision was on our part an effort to keep the costs to a very minimum. Had I to do it over again -- based upon this review -- I would take a different tack altogether."
All Phase transformed my nineteen seventies master bathroom into a lovely updated master suite. The door to the bath was widened and a pocket door installed. The linen closet area was transformed into a five foot shower and new tall cabinets were installed to hold linens. Plumbing was relocated and a Toto toilet with washlet was installed. The shower and floor were tiled, the floor heated for comfort and grab bars installed. Crown moulding around the ceiling in the bath and bedroom is the finishing touch.
I cannot say enough good things about Dave and Kathy Cuppy and their carpenters, Mike and Brian. They are all perfectionists! It must be done correctly and insist their sub contractors perform the same way.
The kitchen was not simple...even though I was not replacing the cabinets, they still had to remove uppers in order to raise the ceiling. The old kitchen ceiling was one of those with the large florescent fixture and really low. Kathy had suggested we do this and she was right! It has made a huge difference having everything opened up!
We went with a quartz counter top (Cambria) which is absolutely beautiful, porcelain backsplash, new sink and faucets and Kathy even helped me shop for back splash, new hardware for cabinets, and crown molding. The hardware was particularly difficult to find due to darkening around old back plate and handle. But Kathy knew the right place to shop and took me there. They know the right places to shop in general to find just what you want. We also added under the cabinet lighting which was a GREAT decision, pot lights and other lighting (all LED)
The scheduling of the job was like clockwork...not one of those deals where they leave you hanging for days wondering where they are. Communication was key...Kathy was always updating me via phone and e-mail regarding questions, etc.
Every day when the guys were done for the day, they cleaned up in the work area (our garage) before they left. I kidded them that it looked cleaner when they were done than before they started.
I can't imagine using another company for any of my future projects!
