It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was terrible. They sent the base unit in February. They were supposed to send 2 outside motion cameras. They didn't have the cameras that I wanted in stock so there was a lapse of a month before I got the cameras. I contacted my electrician to install them and he said they were not outside cameras. I called LifeShield and they told me that I should run an extension cord from the inside to the outside. My electrician said no I shouldn't do that and that I needed a step down transformer. They said they didn't have those. I have literally spent hours on the phone with them trying to get these cameras to work. I was going to try to set them up myself because they said it would be $140 for their company to set them up. They wouldn't install anything unless I paid them that amount. The cameras worked one time inside and then they stopped working. They didn't even work for 3 days. I asked if I could send the stuff back and cancel the contract because they didn't send me what I asked for and it didn't work. They said that I was in an 8 year contract. It is not even hard wired and the motion sensor fell off the wall. It has been a nightmare. I'm still paying $39.99 and the cameras are just sitting here. The only thing I am using it for are the 3 sensors on an outside door. It's better than nothing but definitely not what I ordered. The technicians I've talked to have tried to help. They have been really good but it just doesn't work.

This is a 5 yr contract - the company did not seem to know what I had purchased - the need to run a credit check etc. This type of service should not be offered as an angie's list deal it is not a deal - essentially they could give away the equipment the profit for the company is in the 5 year contract for monitoring -
Description of Work: sold the monitoring gear - i have declined the 5 year contract after I found the company seeming to not understand the products included in the AL deal - and I did not want them to run a credit check to get the equipment installed.

In accordance with Angie's List guidelines, we frequently change our Angie's List deals offered to their customers. Unfortunately, on occasion a sales person may have missed the note on a new deal has just been offered, or perhaps that sales person is new. In any case, all the customer needs to do is offer a brief explanation, and the sales manager will be made aware and then you can move forward. 2. Like almost all home security providers, and because we give away equipment for free, we ask all customers a credit check to receive the best deal possible. There is no hidden agenda and this practice is not unique to the industry. 3. We give away equipment for free, but yes, we charge a flat monthly fee that includes burglary, fire, flood, freeze, glass break, and medical monitoring, with no added costs or fees for text messages and alerts (unlike our competitors who upcharge for these benefits). We can't give away everything for free or we wouldn't be able to exist as a company. 4. We offer 3 and 5 year contract options. The 5 year is for customers who want to lock in a lower rate for a longer period of time. We have had Lifeshield for 4 years. We love the ease of the system and the professionalism of the company. When we purchased the package, it arrived promptly. My husband was able to set up the entire system and even put an alert on our bedroom door; if it was opened we would automatically get a text message!! The system gives us text messages if the alarm system is set off in any way. You can customize your system to your liking. We have been called by the monitoring service when the alarm has gone off. We love that the response time is fast!!!! They system is wireless so we did not need a landline, although we did eventually put one in for the alarm, as a back up. I recommend putting a cheap landline in. The best part is that when we move we can take the system with us as it is not hard wired :) We love the system very much. The only complaint I have is that the sensors can loose their stickiness and fall off. We have only had this happen to the front door and we just stick it back on. It isn't a huge problem just one that could be fixed. I also think it would be a nice touch if a represented contacted me at least once a year (verses never) to see how things are going. It would be nice to get questions answered or purchase add ons and so forth.

I would recommend reading your contract very carefully and not relying upon the explanation of a sales person to explain this contract to you. My husband, quite naively, signed a contract after the sales person he spoke to, Jim Fisher, explained that he could send the equipment back at any time and cancel whenever he wanted. After getting the equipment and starting to install it we realized it really didn't fit our needs and we were looking for something wireless. Turns out, when we did try to send the security equipment back and cancel we were told that the document my husband signed was a 63 month agreement with Lifeshield and would be owing them $35 a month for the next 5+ years. I hit the roof, first on my husband, then on Lifeshield. When we first called the company the customer service dept said they needed the contracts dept to listen in on the call and would they call us back. They called us back and told us that we would need to write a letter to the Board of Contracts for them to assess the situation and make a determination. This is a red flag because I think a) it's an attempt to intimidate customers and b) they have an established protocol for when this happens because it happens all the time. After several phone calls and a lot of bad 'on hold' music we are no longer in a 63 month agreement with Lifeshield. My advice to others is make sure you read that contract carefully and know what you're agreeing to. I think it's extremely unethical that any company would have employees on their sales force that misrepresent the terms of an agreement to potential customers. If they will do it to a 34 year old man they will do it to your 90 year old grandmother. Buyer beware.

This is a really cool system that we bought with the Angie's List deal. The system itself was installed by my husband in a few hours. The dashboard capabilities on my phone and computer are really convenient. We've not set the alarm off yet, so I can't speak to responsiveness. My only complaint is that I received quite a bit of runaround trying to get my system sent to me.

I just had what I consider to be a bad experience in calling Lifeshield. I called and had my call promptly answered. The sales rep seemed very knowledgable and explained features of all devices fairly clearly (although some explanations were not very clear). About asking for prices, he read out the website prices and kept on telling me that we would talk about the final price once we configured the whole system. At the end, he came up with a price as per their website and said that "We now need to run your credit in order to offer you the best packages". I resisted multiple times, and told him that I did not want a credit check before actually signing up, and told him so. "In that case, I will not be able to offer you the real packages, and the prices on the website apply". To hear about any additional discounts, I agreed with the credit check which showed I had Excellent credit- the highest category in our system". After this he comes up with the "Best Price" which was the same as the one on the website- "the best packages are already on our website". On asking why he ran my credit if there when I had made it pleanty clear that I was just shopping around, he said he needed to know if I would even qualify for their widely publicized packages. Obviously, its a part of their script to get as much information from you as possible before clarifying anything. All in all, its not such a big deal when someone wants to check your credit, but doing it just to get you a step closer to signing a deal is bad ethics. I felt that the call could've gone better if basic rules of honest salesmanship could be followed. They loop you into a 5+ year contract, and really wouldn't sign such a long contract with a firm who tries to trick you even in their very first interaction with you.

Because LifeShield gives customers approximately $700+ in technology equipment for FREE at the start of your contract, we need to check for good credit first. Yes, those with good credit scores may get better deals, but even our prices for customers with lower credit scores are still among the lowest in the industry. In fact, we encourage you to compare monitoring costs against competitors, taking into account equipment costs, as well as upcharging on your monthly bill for texts messages and alerts, or freeze, fire, flood, and glass break sensors on top of burglary. LifeShield includes all of it in one cost and doesn't charge extra for text or email alerts. In fact, a lot of security companies won't even sell to people with lower credit scores. Customers must meet a certain credit threshold. LifeShield is open to working with everyone, and will work with people on the best deal for them. Please also note, we also offer a 3 year contract. The 5 year is for people who want to lock in a lower rate over a longer period of time, but some customers prefer a shorter contract, so we provide those options. Perfect. From start to finish.. With as many windows and doors that we have, it took about an hour and a half to hook up everything.
Description of Work: After researching every security company I could find, I chose LIfeShield because they had the perfect package to fit our needs. And the package deals were generous. Our home is on the large side and has many windows and doors. We did have to purchase more window sensors. in comparing the cost of others, this was still the best deal. I had to call customer service to reprogram one sensor, and that took all of one minute. There is a smartphone app that is so easy to use, anyone can use it. If I forget to arm the system, I can do it from anywhere. No one else offers that, that I was able to find. The system is wireless, and didn't take long to install. We did it ourselves. With no problems, at all.

We used Lifeshield since before they were acquired and renamed. We use their products as well as their monitoring service. A few years back they were among the first companies which did not require an analogue phone line and we could use Vonage. We bought the whole package (smoke detectors, water and 5 door/window alarms), we also bought a camera. The sensors require frequent battery changes; the handset itself looks very high end but the voice quality is only average at best. The resolution on the camera is very bad and we have long ceased using the camera monitoring service. The base station requires frequent re-boots and the senors require attention. The customer service was never very good and is nowadays very bad. For example, I noticed that the company bills an extra six dollars for a camera which has been used only once but the discontinued because of the low resolution and the bad form-factor. When i called to discontinue the camera service and maybe get a small refund they put me on hold for 20 minutes and then tried to sell me a 12-month contract. We are looking now for a different service, even if it means installing new equipment.

I initially called on April 2, 2013. After a lengthy conversation, I decided to purchase the system. The price quoted was $89.98 after a bunch of discounts. After reading the agreement, I noticed that the term was for 63 months. This did not set too well with me and sent a note back to that effect. Today (April 3, 2013), I was offered a reduced contract for 39 months. When I received the new agreement, the monthly fee had increased to $39.99! Again, I was unhappy! The Sales Manager offered to reduce the fee back to $34.99! This all left a bad taste in my mouth and I decided to cancel the entire transaction! Looking back on this process, this was not that great a deal, I was offered three months free (but those three months are tacked onto the end of the agreement - so in actuality I was not getting three months free)! I repeated my intention to cancel the transaction. Things went too fast the first time I talked to LifeShield. Unfortunately, the package had already been mailed. I stated I would return it when I receive it. My conclusion? This would not have been a good agreement for me.
Description of Work: LifeShield offers burglar alarm protection. The service is provided over the internet. You self install all the components. I was to receive 3 window and 3 door devices as well as other components. A Kindle pad was offered as part of the package - which I declined.

Your sales rep was kindly offering you have a special deal in the moment to pay the lower rate along with the shorter contract option since you were unclear about your contract and pricing options. LifeShield offers an incentive of a less expensive contract option for customers who want to lock in a lower rate for 5 years, vs. chance the possibility that monitoring rates may rise after three years. Historically, we have not raised monitoring rates after a contract term is up, but we cannot say for sure what will happen in 2016. This practice of offering a longer contract for a lower prices is not unique to the industry. If there was only one monthly monitoring price option, there would only be one contract option. I reviewed the LifeShield website and determined what equipment was needed to meet my security needs. I called LifeShield and spoke with a sales associate (Jason) who was very helpful and not at all pushy to purchase his system. After a second call the next day I placed an order for a security system. The system arrived in 3-4 days and was easy to install following their Setup Guide. The setup took about 3 "unhurried" hours. There was one window/door sensor that was not working and was replaced in a few days. I ordered a Cellular Gateway Backup unit to provide cellular backup to the broadband primary communication. There was an issue with the cellular backup losing and restoring the cellular signal. There tech support has been very helpful and patient while working through this issue. They are sending out a replacement Cellular Gateway Backup unit but in the mean time I relocated the unit to another electrical outlet and at the same time they downloaded a system update for the cellular backup. The bottom line, all is working well. The LifeShield system has a base (connected to the broadband) and console located in another room which provides additional protection. If the console is damaged the base will still send the signal to the monitoring company. Also, with the cellular backup you are almost always assured to have communication with the monitoring company under any situation. I am extremely happy with the LifeShield Security equipment and there level of support. If you are in need of a home security system I strongly suggest that you take a good look at LifeShield.

I needed a replacement security system where the company would actually respond to my phone calls and concerns. I got exactly that with Life Shield Security Systems. I ordered online, they delivered on time. I opened the box and everything was there except for the motion sensor (which I thought was included, but was not!). I started to deploy the system and found it to be ever so clearly simple. I did not believe this was sent tome in the mail! I asked where my motion sensor was and they explained it was not included in the system I had purchased. However, they decided to send me one and I could not be happier with it. When it arrived I immediately installed it, turned it on, programmed the base to meet my needs and I am totally happy!

I was eager to get an alarm system because I had experience a number of break ins during the prior 3 months. After purchasing the 'Angie's Deal" from your website on 11/8 I didn't hear from anyone for a couple weeks. When I called Angie's list back they gave me the contact number for the deal. I was pleased that I got a regional sales manager who apologized for taking so long to get back and put me in touch with the local install coordinator. I told her I was eager to get the system active. Then I had a somewhat painful 'contract - terms and conditions' phone call where they qualified my credit to be sure that I could actually have the security system I had already purchased since there is a monitoring contract. That made me feel a bit uncomfortable but then all seemed well. By 11/21 I was again calling the regional sales manager because I had not heard anything about the installer coming to install the system. On 11/26 we finally had an appointment for the installer to come install the system. He wore a DISH network shirt and said he installed for several companies. After several hours of him sitting in my living room reading installation instructions he installed the panel by my front door. I asked him where the power came from and he said it was battery operated. A few hours later, he told me that I would need to use an extension cord to plug in my system. An hour later I asked him to leave and told him I would finish the installation myself. I was unable to get one of the wireless cameras to work. I emailed the support team for ideas but they said I would need to work with them on the phone. This camera doesn't work to this day. The system works in 'training mode' for a period of time, but on 12/5 the system went live. Within 1 week of activation, I was broken into again. I was happy that my system was active finally.

We utilize a network of skilled installers who work throughout the county to install technology products and services. (Prior we were a DIY/self-installed only system but were getting requests from people like you who wanted an installer to do it for them.) Because the installer program is still new, some of the techs need to go over the manual again to be sure they are installing the system accurately. We also insist that if they have any questions about the LifeShield system during install to please call our help desk. The experience was very good. We are very satisfied.
Description of Work: I love this system! We have had Brinks and then ADT and we were very dissatisfied. LifeShield is easy to install and to add on to. I emailed them via Angie's list and got a quick response. There was no pressure to buy. Once we decided on LifeShield (based on researching other security systems) we were able to purchase the system and have it installed very quickly. The installers were efficient and professional.

order the system from their website, which was to include a Kindle Fire as a promotion for all subscribers. They called to confirm my order that day and the system arrived within a few days. I called to have someone do the installation as other matters would impact my ability to use ladders at the time for a few of the sensors. An installer showed up within a few days, and am glad he arrived as some of the door and window sensors had trouble immediately finding the console. I am pleased for the most part even though a few sensors as well as the camera needed to be replaced when they suddenly stopped working. Technical support spent considerable time with me on the phone trying to get the camera to reconnect without success. I cannot say enough good things about their professionalism and patience trying to get something that is wrong to work again. They are more than willing to send a replacement with a return order number for credit. However, I remain disappointed that the Kindle Fire that was touted in the promotion was never sent. I called to inquire why that was and never received an answer other than they would check on the matter and never contacted me about it again. Granted, I certainly was not placing an order because of a Kindle Fire but instead because of the review about the company and its products-nevertheless, the disappointment remains. Since my home has been a target for home invasion, and my attic has been compromised, I feel much more secure with the alarm service--even if I accidently set it off when I put out the dog because I forgot to turn it off first. Great product, great service, with an occassional misstep is no reason to trash any company. I am glad to have LifeShield.
Description of Work: delivery and scheduled installation of the full home security system with additional window/door sensors. PKG included one camera, 3 window/door sensors, portal, and home base, fire detection, and a motion sensor. Promotion from the website also stated that all new orders would include a Kindle Fire "for a limited time" on the day that I ordered it. The following week, that promo was extended for the month of January.

I bought this after comparing all the deals and other security systems. By far this the best package I have seen and the deal thru ANgies List was even better than what they offered at their site. Ordering was easy and they even had a special for extra sensors which was more than enough. The system arrived within a few days and while we took forever to install it once we got around to it it was fairly easy and quick. I love how much access I have to the system through my phone, computer, keychain etc. They are super quick with mornitoring which I found out when my hubby forgot his code and tripped the alarm. Within seconds of recieving the text message I got a phone call from the monitoring center. Don't even get me started on how awesome the camers service is. Again buy the deal!

It was fabulous! They support and monitor it. They have different plans to choose from and I would highly recommend them! My son owns a home in Detroit and also has the system and is very happy. If they need to call and contact a homeowner they are very punctual. I only have positive things to say!

I looked at a lot of different companies, but decided to go with them based on their wireless system that could be self-installed and it has a very good website that allows monitoring of the system even from away (being in a different city from my mom).
Description of Work: They provided the equipment for security at my mother’s home; which they monitor.

Pathetic experience! Don't trust them. They don't provide the service it takes to install and operate the system properly.
Description of Work: Purchased home security system from life shield home sec out of Yardley Pa. I can honestly say it was one of the worst buying experiences of my adult life. I was deceived from the very beginning. Once I purchased the system customer service goes out the window. Product was sent with the wrong items. Once the product was installed the customer support is non existent. I had problems from the very start and no one could resolve my problems. Totally let down and disappointed. Will return product but don't expect to get a full return. These people are deceitful and would never recommend them. Buyer beware!

My wife and I were expecting our first child when we started looking for home security. I have some experience with security systems because in my line of work I install home automation systems. I knew I didn't want to spend a lot of money with a new child arriving in a couple of months so i started researching companies. I found LifeShield after making several other calls. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of the system and that no one needed to come to my house for the installation. I could install everything myself and no need to worry about an installer installing devices in my home and knowing my home layout. Everything about this system has been easy. I only needed to call their Technical Support line once, and they were able to fix the problem in a few minutes. Great company for any income family.

We were looking for home security because our township was sending out recordings that there were several successful burglaries in our small town. At that time, we contacted LifeShield and easily purchased our new system with assistance of a very informative sales agent. My husband and I are both approaching 70 years old and were concerned about installing this system ourselves, but we had the whole system installed in less than 90 minutes. The whole experience of purchasing, installing, and customer service has had both of us sleep with a lot more ease. We have referred many of our family members who have all had the same experience. We will be long-time customers of LifeShield and cannot wait to get some of the new products we plan to order soon.
