He explained what he could do, came over and did it.

Jim was running behind but gave us a call to let us know. He arrived with a helper. After explaining what we needed done, they got to work. Jim and his helper ran cable and a/v chords from the back of our flat screen TV through the wall, down through what must have been tiled flooring, into our crawl space and then up through regular flooring in an adjacent small cubby-like space where we keep our DVD player, etc. It took about 2 hours to complete the job. They did a fine job. They even ran an extra dummy wire through with the other wires so that if we ever needed to add any more cords, we could attach it to the dummy wire and pull it on through the hole and down into the crawl space with little difficulty.

We had a great experience using "A Retired Telephone Man". His fee was far less that what we had quoted from other sources. He had to bring the wires down from the attic, through the garage and into the office. I was worried it would look like a mess, but it was neatly done and I am completely happy. We had also had the cable company out to look at a non-functioning jack in the basement but the representative could not track the problem. Jim followed the wire for us and just pointed out that it had come disconnected where it entered the house. To say that we got our money's worth is an understatement. Great job.

Electrically, everything was done perfectly. However, to run the wire some of the wooden baseboards were slightly damaged. This is not a major issue, but I was disappointed that I allowed it to happen. I would use his services again, but I would prep the area so he can focus on electrical work exclusively.

I called Jim thinking to schedule a service call. He happened to be in the area and came right away, and he and Bob were very courteous and got the job done in no time flat. The issue with my DSL cutting out and the staticy phone are both resolved. The phone in the basement was an afterthought but he fixed that too. He also advised me to call the phone company to get them to put a demarcation point in, because our house does not have this (the box where you can check if the problem is inside or outside your house). I was thrilled that he got this done the same day I called: that never happens!

They were highly professional and did a very nice job. They came out for free to do the estimate. They undid a box. They spent a fair ammount of time hear. It was a satisfactory, and I would call them without hesitation to do the work.

I called Mr. Walter and told him the situation. He said he could come out first thing (7:30 AM) in the morning. I asked if it couldn't be a little bit later - we agreed on 8:30 AM. He showed up on time with a helper. I don't understand exactly what the problem was, but it was more complex than he at first thought. And he ended up doing something like 'rerouting' all the phones around the faulty wire? However, they still finished in less than an hour, and we only had to pay for that hour. I am very glad we got someone like him who understood the telecommunications wiring through and through. I think that's the reason they were finished so quickly. Others would probably have had to do more trial and error problem solving.

He got it done in about fifteen minutes and his fee was very, very reasonable. The man is a real gentleman. He was very prompt in returning my call and getting to it. He was able to do it the next day after the call. I'd recommend him to anyone who needed anything telephone services.

I can not recommend Jim enough!!! I would call him before I would ever call the phone company again. Do NOT call the phone company! I had a repairman from AT&T out to add a jack and fix the phone problems. He claimed to have worked as a repairman for 10 years, but clearly had no idea what he was doing. He spent hours here, charged me $250 and all I got was the one jack installed. Jim fixed everything we needed in a much shorter amount of time and for far less money. And it is very reassuring knowing things were done correctly.

Mr. Walters is a very nice man, however, he was supposed to show up on a Tuesday but did not. When I called it appeared he had forgotten the appointment but he quickly rescheduled. He did damage some drywall putting in the new jack and indicated I should have my contractor repair it. He did not adjust the price for this. He also used an ivory jack when my other accessory plates are white. On the plus side, when I first called for an estimate he was in the area and stopped by right away. He also put a cover over a jack that I was not going to use at no charge.

He did an good job at a reasonable price.

Called Mr. Walters, and he was very helpful! Quick to meet with us, and performed the work in the same day! Would call again if needed, pleasure doing business with.

Jim was timely and quickly accomplished the work. I was pleasantly surprised because he was only going to stop by and look at the job and give me a quote. When he arrived and checked out the job he agreed to start the job immediately.

Jim Walters of A Retired Telephone Man was able to repair an old rotary phone into working order that was of sentimental value. He was both pleasant and efficient and honored the quoted estimate.

I thought they were very professional. They came out and gave the estimate and we scheduled. He had to postpone the date, but that didn't bother me at all. They were exceptionally nice guys.

Mr. Walters was able to schedule the repairs the same day I contacted him. He arrived with a colleague and they promptly resolved the phone problems. They were both very professional and personable. They easily measure up to the company slogan of being "knowledgeable, reliable, and affordable." I would certainly call A Retired Telephone Man again for any other phone repairs.

Very positive. I called on a Sunday, expecting to leave a message, but talked with Jim and set an appointment for the following Tuesday. He was a bit late for the appointment, but called ahead to let me know. Work was done as requested, quickly and efficiently. Was very tidy.

I have used Jim a total of 4 times for adding jacks or a line repair. Each time has been a pleasant experience. He is always responsive, very neat about his work and easy to have around.

He gave me a lower charge because it didn't take as long as his normal calls.

He was very courteous and efficient. He was very informative about the work as well. He was particular careful about picking up any mess he made. He called to let me know he was running late and was very apologetic about that. He was definitely one of the most courteous service people I have ever dealt with. He had a helper with him and apparently he trained him well too, because he was the same way.

Outstanding. He clearly told me what to do and how to do it and it worked like a charm. I will definitely use him for future repairs and work!

Jim and Allen called when they said they would (as they left a customer's house and were on their way to our house)and worked hard until the job was done. Both were very friendly and easy to talk to. It was a pleasure to work with them both. I'll definitely use them in the future for all of my telephone and cable line needs.
