I wasn't there for the actual repair job, but I talked to the tenant and she was very happy with their service. I had wrapped the pipe with duct tape because I wasn't sure how expensive the repair was going to be and I was trying to put it off. When it started to leak through the tape I finally called TLC to get the problem corrected. I thought that the job was going to be larger than it turned out to be. Knowing what I know now, I would have called them earlier and not used the duct tape.
Description of Work: I had a leaking 6 inch vertical cast iron drain pipe in the basement under the bathroom in a rental property. TLC worked with the tenant to schedule a convenient time for the repair and cut out the old section and put in a new piece of PVC pipe. The job was done correctly, on time, and they left the area clean. I have used them on other occasions and have never been disappointed.

Overall it was a good experience
Description of Work: TLC Plumbing gave me an estimate for the installation of a backwater valve. They were punctual and professional and answered my questions. They took a few pictures of the floor area in the basement were the backwater valve was thought to be located. They took a few weeks before sending the initial proposal, it was professional and very detailed. The estimate was $2,090.00. My only problem was the details in the proposal which laid out several notes on possible reasons for increases in the final cost of the jobs. It was for that reason that I did not hire TLC for the job. I needed a more accurate estimate of the final cost in order to budget myself.

It went very well, exactly as predicted by TLC. They took care of arranging everything, including drywall repair and repainting. We were very pleased with their service.
Description of Work: All of our plumbing was buried in the concrete slab when our house was built. We developed a leak in our hot water line but could not isolate it. Two different plumbing companies tried to locate the leak, including TLC, and neither was able to do so. Both companies gave estimates to bypass the existing lines and run new ones through the ceiling and walls. TLC's estimate was significantly less AND involved much less disruption to our home, so we hired them. They completed the work in a timely fashion and were very cooperative about not inconveniencing us more than necessary. We would recommend them to anyone needing major repairs.

After getting three quotes on Angie's List I hired TLC Plumbing because they were about $100 less expensive than the others. I got a quote on the first call and they were able to come out the next day. Everything went okay with installation. The plumber was polite and professional. It ended up costing the same as the others after all was done because he had to do some extras to fit it. I was happy...for a while. About a week later I went out of town for two weeks. My daughter isn't home much so didn't use much water. Around May 25 she sends me a photo of our bathtub full of black water and saying it was really smelly, like rotten eggs....??? We thought it was because the water hadn't been used much for a couple weeks. When I got home I realized it was just the hot water that was black and smelly. Again, I thought (hoped) it was because it wasn't used much so I drained all the hot water and waited for the tank to refill. The problem continued. I have lived in this house with the same hot water heater for 15 years with no problem like this, so having this problem now after a new hot water heater being installed it's pretty obvious the problem is with the new hot water heater. So I did some research and found out the problem exists because of the well water and the type of anode rod in the hot water heater and some kind of reaction with well water, and the anode rod in the hot water heater needs to be changed. When I called TLC Plumbing yesterday Bob knew right away what the problem was and told me he would call me back to let me know when they could "take care of the problem". When he called me back he said an anode rod is $70-$90 and their usual hourly fees would apply and it would be around $300 to fix the problem. What??? I have to pay to have a problem fixed cause by the water heater they installed??? Bob said they don't test the water before installing a hot water heater and how would they know what kind of water I have. Really? It seems to me if Bob knew what the problem was right away they've obviously know this happens and have dealt with it before. They're the experts, they're the ones who should have asked the right questions before installing this hot water heater. I've done more research since that phone call and found out it's a relatively easy job changing this rod. I guess I am going to have to pay someone to do it since I have no skills or knowledge or the right tools, but I won't be paying TLC Plumbing to fix the problem they caused and I will not be calling them for service again.

I got them off Angie’s list. They did a good job. They came the same day as I called them. I have had other people try to clean up the gas leaks and sometimes the gas company asking me to call them back and telling me that they didn’t have to do the job at that time but TLC has been punctual. They are very professional.

Overall I like the way things were set up, I was def overcharged though, material costs were not over $1500 and 5 full days of actual work for 9k. A few things though. There was an issue though with one of the pipes that they "fixed" but not really and tried to hide it when the inspector came through. Luckily, I had thoroughly checked the work and they ended up having to change the layout b/c they didn't want to fix the pipe. Another, was everything was hooked up and work was complete so once again I thoroughly checked the work and they had forgot/hooked up wrong one of the lines wrong and it flooded the location. Which stuff happens I understand but then they tried to blame me for it saying that I must have went behind the wall and disconnected it. Really? The repair personnel were extremely rude when he could have just fixed it left. I didn't need the drama.

We discovered that we had no hot water. I called TLC at approximately 8:00a.m. (the person who answered the phone was very kind and courteous) and a plumber was at our home by 11:30a.m. He was able to diagnosis the problem within a few minutes. Our current water heater was only a little over 4 years old. We were able to call the store we bought it at and they replaced the water heater at no charge. The plumber from TLC removed our old water heater and transported it to the store, brought the new one back to our home and installed the new water heater. In addition, we had purchased a new faucet for our bathroom thinking we could DIY the project and found we were in over our head. The plumber installed the new faucet while waiting for the old water heater to drain. Overall the experience was great. The plumber was a very professional, delightful person. He was efficient and did the job in a timely manner. We will definitely use this company again for any plumbing needs we have in the future.

October 27, 2011 Emergency. Flooding in my basement, both sewage and clear water. Excellent all the way around. Plumber knew where to go and how to do it. This company may cost a little extra for emergency service, but I am glad to find a company this caring and communicating to get the job done. I have had TLC Plumbing several times before these and, always, a courteous and professional work-ethic. They should be at the top of Angie's List.
Description of Work: October 27, 2011 Emergency. Flooding in my basement, both sewage and clear water. 1. Phone contact very helpful in getting plumber to my house because of emergency nature of flooding. 2. Plumber found Ejection Pump did not work and sewage coming up. He removed ejection pump and installed a new pump, requiring pipe-fitting. 3. Plumber also found the flapper in the basement toilet tank degraded and lodged so that the water continued to flow out of the tank. Excellent all the way around. He knew where to go and how to do it. This company may cost a little extra for emergency service, but I am glad to find a company this caring and communicating to get the job done. The job was done quickly and proferssionally. The old pipe was cut out and a new one was installed. They cleaned the area after they were finished and put the key back where they found it. Overall, they did a fine job with no leaks.
Description of Work: I had a leaking cast iron soil stack in a rental property that I own. It started as a small leak and just kept getting larger and larger. I have used TLC many times in the past for this property and my personal residence. The rental property was vacant at the time so I told the office manager where to find the key to get into the house. I showed up later that morning fully expecting to find them still working on the job, but they had already been there, replaced the pipe with a PVC one, cleaned up the area, locked up, and left. My experience with TLC has always been pleasant and professional. I would recommend them without any reservations.

I was thoroughly impressed by the speed at which the job was completed, as well as the fact that, although my attempt to repair my own plumbing created a major mess ( Which Shannon was kind enough to clean up )reminiscent of one of Lucille Ball's antics on the old ''I LOVE LUCY'' show, He was very professional and spared my feelings by not laughing or lecturing me about leaving major plumbing repairs to the professionals. He also arrived 30 minutes early, for which I was truly grateful, because we had been without water since yesterday afternoon. I was so impressed that repairs that I have slated to perform myself in the future as I renovate my house, I will now just pick-up the phone and call TLC.
