They responded to, and completed request for services within 24 hours. Toni, the technician arrived on time and efficiently went about the setup and conversions. It took her about three hours to get every thing set up and to bring me up to speed on the new equipment. She was extremely easy to work with as I know very little about the technical aspects of the equipment. I had a follow-up question about 5 days later and she responded immediately and was able to help me solve a problem within 5 minutes over the phone. She could not have been more helpful. This group is very service oriented and I would not hesitate to recommend them. An excellent experience.

My PC was running a little slow on the Internet and I was experiencing numerous "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close . . ." errors. This problem has begun to occur again so, for all practical purposes, remains unresolved, although the errors are far less frequent than before. However, Toni, the technician who came out, did resolve one of my Internet speed issues - she was the first to suggest that my processor was not as big/fast as it could be and also suggested I disconnect from the PC my Western Digital external hard drive when not in use because although I was telling it to "pause all backups" while I was working, it was still actually running in the background and with the size of my processor, it was slowing me down. This has sped up everything considerably. I do think their charge of $95/hour is a little steep and although I indicated I would hire them again, I might, try another firm that is about the same distance away, has good ratings, and appears to be a little less expensive, the next time. With that being said, the technician, Tony, did spend time with me the next day, trying to recover a tool bar that had seemed to have disappeared after she left, and they did not charge me for that extra time.
Description of Work: Some maintenance and an attempt to analyze and resolve a frequent Internet Explorer error message - I have a PC. Toni, the technician, also made suggestions about speeding up my PC that worked and on future potential purchase of a laptop.

At the end of 2011, I received an written referral to Geek in Pink from my previous computer service who had moved out of the area. I had called Regina earlier in the year when I thought I had picked up a virus on my PC. I walked her through what I had done to correct the problem and she said that it sounded like I had done the right thing. She saw no need for a home visit. Recently, I got an ipad but was unable to set it up with the wifi because I did not know the hidden password. I emailed Regina and asked if it was something I could do my self and she responded with a couple of suggestions. I tried them but got into territory that was not familiar and I was not comfortable trying it on my own. I called and left a message that was returned later on that day and was able to set up an appointment for the end of the week. Regina and Amanda came out and completed the work within an hour's time.
Description of Work: I did not know the password for my wifi and needed help activating my ipad. Regina and Amanda came out and successfully unlocked the wifi and set up a new password. Regina cleaned off some of the unneccessary items on my PC as well as updating some software. Amanda set up my ipad with my wifi.

Description of Work: The problem with my computer turned out to be with the built in network card and I decided to replace my laptop instead of repair it. The tech who worked on it kept me informed of each step along the way, both what it was and why she was doing it. She then explained the cost of the repair agreeing that replacing was the best option.

Overall service is wonderful.
Description of Work: I had stopped in to get a estimate of what they would charge to remove viruses in my computer. The gentleman (Adam) quoted me a approximate price and said to allow three days, even tho they are usually finished sooner. I was greeted as soon as I walked into their office and decided then and there that I would like to deal with these people. I returned the following Monday with my computer and left it to be cleaned of viruses and to reinstall my flashplayer that the the virus wiped out. I got a call the next day that my computer was completed and working great. I picked it up on Tuesday and all is well. I thought their service was great and the people Adam and Laura were great. I would heartedly recommend Geek in Pink.

When my dog stepped on my laptop, she took the "V" key with her. Having a broken computer causes me major stress. I was relieved to find Geek in Pink open early on a Saturday. When there, Cody told me the key was broken and I could order one off the Internet for little cost. He wrote down all the information I would need to order it myself. Two weeks later, I brought it back to him and he popped it on there in about a minute. He was nice and professional and didn't make me feel like an idiot for not knowing anything about computers - or for leaving my laptop in the dog's way! I hope I don't have any more computer issues, but if I do, I'd definitely go back.

The folks at Geek in Pink were wonderful. They told me every step of the way what the charges would be and asked if I wanted them to proceed. Laura at the office called me several times to update me on what the techs were finding, so I could say whether to move ahead or stop the work. When I decided to buy a new desktop, they did all the work described above (cheaper than the big box store offered to do) as well as cleaned off the old hard drive and recycled the modem free of charge. This was all done in 2 working days. AWESOME! I have spent that long on hold with tech support trying to set up computers by myself in the past!! Now our laptop is running great, my new desktop is purring along, and I am a huge fan of Geek in Pink.
Description of Work: They ran diagnostics on both our laptop and desktop computers to see why they were running poorly. They then cleaned up the laptop and (after diagnosing LOTS of problems on the desktop) they did a new computer setup, with tune up, updates, Office installation and free anit-virus installation on my new computer. They also transferred the data from the old desktop to the new one.

My home desktop was full of viruses and running incredibly slowly. Geek in Pink assessed the problem and gave me my options with the associated costs. I misunderstood one of the services' costs, so I ended up paying $65 more than anticipated, but I do believe that was my own fault. Regina, the owner, spent a lot of time cleaning up my CPU, including several hours on the weekend, in order to get me up and running again in short order. I would not hesitate to call on them again.
Description of Work: They removed a litany of virsues from my machine, did a complete reinstall of my system, added memory to my hard drive and backed up all my data on disks.

When I dropped off the computer I provided background info on the pc and that the battery on the laptop had stopped working two times previously. After purchasing replacements the laptop was fine. I explained that once again the laptop was not running and we wanted to find out if the battery was the issue or something else. The vendor was very cordial and responsive, calling the following day to inform that our laptop was infected and both the battery and power chord were bad. I inquired about the "infection" or "virus" on the laptop to understand what effect it had on the operating system. The general response was the "virus is bad and you don't want the infection to spread." Since the price of removing this was $125 we decided to forego this repair. I went the next day to pick the computer up and the tech was currently defragging the hard drive. She informed me that the computer had not been defragged in a very long time and it was hurting the performance of the computer. I was charged $45 for the diagnostic service before leaving. Overall, the vendor is very cordial and responsive but does not provide the detailed technical support or information that other pc repair shops do. I was not told that it would cost $45 just to have them boot up the lap top, run a virus scan and partially defrag the hard drive. I already defragment the hard drive and can use free malware programs to scan the laptop if the battery wasn't fried. (several vendors offer this under a free estimate) In addition, we did not replace the power chord and the laptop booted up fine after we purchased the replacement battery. UPDATED RESPONSE - I understand the Provider's response under the condition that I should be more proactive in understanding what I am receiving for services before I purchase them. I've upgraded my price and quality ratings to reflect their side of the story. However, I was not told at any time the cost of the diagnostic was $45. In addition, I am EXTREMELY upset to find out that the repair shop I was looking for (PC PRO TECHNOLOGIES - discussed above) was in fact located in the same exact building in Fishers where I ran into Geek in Pink. PC PRO was running an Angies List 10% discount at the time, they offer free estimates and they had tons of great Angies List feedback......... I am upset because I specifically asked if PC PRO was located in the building because I thought I was in the right place and she said "I don't believe they are here anymore." To top it off I was told "I'm not sure but I hear they got in some trouble and she thought they weren't around anymore or moved." I truly hope that this was an accident and the technician was making conversation while not aware of PC PRO. However, I don't know any business owners that are unaware of direct competition in the same building. I'm not one to complain as it is tough for anyone to run a business and be successful, just don't bad-mouth others to get there.
Description of Work: Was looking for a different PC repair shop I found on angies list in the area. Due to time constraints I dropped my laptop off at geeks in pink when I saw there store. Performed a "diagnostic" on computer. Im unsure of what diagnostic tests were done specifically. Was told the computer was infected, had a bad battery and power chord.

Response from Geek in Pink Computer Repair
I am the owner and technician and was in the shop when a gentleman brought in this computer listed for member above. He explained they had repairs done before at another shop that had been at this location and this time the computer was not working at all and "we'll go ahead and try someplace new." The computer did not boot initially and was unresponsive with the battery both in place and removed and attempting to power with the customer's power cord. A universal cord was also tried with and without the battery in place. This too failed to power the machine or get signs of life in the form of LED lights on the unit. After the both the memory and hard drive were physically reseated, the universal cord would power the computer with both the battery intact and with the battery removed, however the battery would not charge. The computer was brought in with no signs of life - no lights would turn on whatsoever. Once we were able to boot the computer we noted that the computer was infected in addition to the physical problems. This was an aside to the actual problem. This had nothing to do with the physical state the computer was in. However, we inform our customers of issues when we see them so they are not under the impression that replacing a physical component like a battery will affect the speed or stability of the operating system. This also helps the consumer to have all the information they need to make a decision as to whether or not it's a cost effective repair to make. If the customer decides to proceed with the repair than the $45 diagnostic is applied towards the repair. If they decide to forgo the repair, they still have valuable information that they can proceed on their own and purchase the parts from a 3rd party vendor while still being able to take advantage of our time, equipment and expertise. The fact remains that those resources were used and the unit was properly diagnosed, the customer just elected not to proceed. Had the customer proceeded with any repair the diagnostic fee would have been applied towards the repair (but not parts). This was explained to the gentleman who dropped the unit off, I stood at the counter with him and explained this. I believe the customer's assessment of our "grade" in the categories of "price" and "quality" are unwarranted. The customer was told what the diagnostic charge was and how it is applied and still elected to leave the unit. They were charged no more and no less than what they were quoted. On "quality", the diagnostic was complete and accurate and just because someone isn't happy with the news, does not change it's accuracy and should not warrant an "F". Another factor the customer should keep in mind, it is not typical to have to replace a battery that frequently on a laptop. The fact the power cord was not powering the unit initially, it should be considered that the brick in the power cord is not managing power correctly and is contributing the failure of the batteries. As far as the viruses were concerned: there were a multitude as is typical when a computer becomes infected by one, more soon follow. As a courtesy we frequently go ahead and proceed with minor things like disk defragmenting even when the customer has declined other repairs because it doesn't take much time or effort and can help the unit along at least a little bit (although admittedly that does not help viruses nor did we ever claim it did - it was just a courtesy). I could not have been clearer about the charges or what to expect. Overall, I feel that this is a very unfair assessment of our work and it's a shame that it will influence future potential clients.

I opened a new business and have a very complex all-in-one copy/fax/print/scanner. I am apt at configuring most technologies but I could not configure this unit for all services. I needed to get my fax and scanner operational asap for my business. I was referred to Geek in Pink from my landlord but wanted to check them out on Angie's List and also do some shopping myself. I called and emailed Regina along with 4 other companies. Regina and Geek in Pink were by far the quickest and most affordable. We agreed to meet on wednesday morning. Regina got held up on a prior job which was quite understandable. She notified me immediately, was very apologetic and made every concession in communication to let me know how soon she could get there. Once she arrived, she was very pleasant and friendly, very knowledgeable and began analyzing the problem. She was able to get everything working except the scanner because my machine does not have the ability to scan unless networked which it was not. She called the manufacturer to determine this and instructed me on what was needed to resolve the issue. She was very professional and provided a great service. The cost was less than I was quoted and I am very pleased with her company. I would recommend her to anyone needing computer services!
Description of Work: I had multiple needs including: getting a multi-functioning Printer/Scanner/Fax machine fully operational and getting a virus removed from a PC.
