Cragen Lawn Care

Due to the dry weather the last two summers, we decided to hire someone to fertilize and treat our lawn for weeds. We tried Cragen because of the good reviews on Angie's List. We called for an estimate, and Bill came out. He explained what our options were and what the pricing would be. They came out, on schedule, left the bill on our front door with a flag in the law detailing the application and time. Our yard looked pretty good considering the weather. We are going to try it another year and hope the summer is not as dry. Applications were more expensive than other providers (approximately $85 per treatment), but our yard did look better than all of our neighbors. I also appreciated that Bill came out when we had questions about aeration and seeding in the fall. He reviewed our lawn and determined that it would be best to aerate in the fall and wait on seeding because portions of the lawn might come back on its own in the spring. He saved us the expense of seeding in the fall instead of just wasting our money.

We began using Cragen Lawn Care for all lawn treatment needs in 2011 after an earlier service provider repeatedly failed to eradicate weed problems. Cragen was persistent in correcting earlier problems and has consistently provided reliable, timely and effective lawn treatment services. We now have them under annual cost saving contract.

They always do a good job. Show up and fertilize...sometimes the only way we know they've been here is when they put the little sign up on the lawn to tell us to keep the dog off the lawn. Lawn typically looks pretty good, unless I have to stop watering!

I called them to ask questions about their lawn care service, and spoke with Dave, who was very friendly and answered all of the questions I had. He came out to measure and inspect the lawn and give us a quote to have our lawn treated, which was in very bad shape with lots of weeds and bare spots from last year's drought. The quote was a little higher than you might see elsewhere, but based on their reviews and location we decided to give them a try. One thing I appreciated was how honest and forthcoming Dave was. When I asked if we needed core aeration, he said that we would not benefit from it at this time, and he even told us how we could treat the yard ourselves if we were so inclined. After the treatment was applied a week later, I started to see immediate results with the weeds wilting, followed by them diminishing greatly after only one treatment. The yard still looks great and we are going to participate in the summer treatment program which involves 5 different treatments.

He takes great care of my yard, it looks great. He has been taking care of my lawn for years and has recently added the pest control services in the last few years. I have been really pleased with his service. He is extremely dependable and I can always count on him showing up to do the service. If there is anything I'm not pleased with, he will come back and make it right.

Last year's drought really took a toll on my yard so I decided that I was going to call a professional this year and I'm very glad that I did. The drought this year almost as brutal as last years but with a little bit of watering and the recent rain, my lawn has recovered very quickly, whereas last year, it was a mass of weeds and dirt by this time. I will certainly continue to use Cragen.

I was not happy with the appearance of my lawn. When I called for an estimate, Jim came out and spent several minutes going over the condition of the lawn and gave me several tips and educated me on the lawn. He even suggested that the condition of the lawn indicated that I would easily be able to continue fertilizing on my own. Right then, I decided I wanted to do business with this man. The first day that they came out to do an application, the technician came up and introduced himself then walked over the lawn with me, describing the treatment to be applied and how they would proceed with future treatments. I am very happy with this company and they continue to treat my lawn today.

They are outstanding. They are a lot better than what we used to have. I used to use these others who would come around and they would be a different guy who would come out every time. They burnt my grass. I started using Cragen three years ago and my yard is just absolutely green and lush. I would highly recommend them. It's a family run business and they do an excellent job. They are good. They are able to get products which the average person can't because they are licensed. They get a better grade of stuff than we can get. They are licensed to do it.

Rick Cragen and Jeff had serviced my lawn between April and November 2010. I saw a remarkable improvement on their first treatment with all weeds killed. Their treatment continued to be effective but due to extremely hot weather for more than month and with my irrigation system failing, we couldn't water the lawn adequately. As a result, the grass went dry. The quality of treatment was good and I wish they also could treat the flower beds. A couple of suggestions though: the 5 treatments could have been spaced 1 month apart as opposed to 6-8 weeks. My last treatment was provided over a snow covered lawn. Also, I wish Cragen Lawn Care could be a bit more competitive in pricing compared to TruGreen and consider weed treatment near plants/flower beds.

So far it is great. Have used another service for the last several years and have an irrigation system, but the yard kept getting worse and worse. After only the first 2-3 treatments, the grass is thicker and healthier and much fewer weeds.

Their estimate was on the higher side. It was $20 more for a treatment. He wasn’t quite as responsive. He didn’t come as soon as I contacted him. They are probably good to get a price from. They are a little high because they are from Greenwood and I’m in Greenwood. I would not consider them for another quote.

I contacted Cragen Lawn Care in March of this year and asked for an estimate to treat my lawn. Dave left me a note and asked me to call him. Dave told me that it would be a waste of money to treat my lawn in its present condition. He suggested I have it overseeded instead of fertilized. I hired a company to overseed my lawn in April. In May I contacted Dave again and asked him to recheck my lawn. He said it looked much better and would begin treating my lawn. I have only had one treatment, and my lawn looks great! Dave used a weed killer that wouldn't hurt my reseeding efforts yet kill the weeds. I appreciate his honesty and I appreicate the service I received. I think it is a great company!

I would highly recommend them. I thought they were very good. They were very fair-priced. Our lawn was in pretty bad shape. It was because of the drought last year and it needed work before that. Their pricing wasn't outrageous. The guy that owns the business, Mr. Cragen, came out personally, looked at our lawn, and gave us recommendations. I felt like he only recommended what we needed. He didn't try to sell me anything extra. He seemed like a very honest man. He was kind and professional. I didn't have any interaction with the employees. They just came out and did the work. They were fine. I didn't have any complaints. I didn't even speak to them. The company did exactly what they said they would do. So far it seems like our lawn looks a lot better. We were happy with the results. I felt like it was a company that we could trust. I felt like if we had any problems, we could call them and they would take care of it. They had a lot of honesty and integrity. We didn't schedule a time. They didn't necessarily need me to be at home. From the time we called them to the time they responded was pretty quick.

Once I called the company they came out the next day to measure the yard for an estimate. They measured my yard to be 12,000 square feet and will be treating it for the rest of the year. I have used their service last summer and they are an excellent company.

I have an annual agreement with them. They do about 5 applications a year. They do a great job. I have had a lot of neighbors comment on how nice my lawn looks.

We have used Cragen lawn care for about 3 years now. We have had experience with one other company prior to Cragen. I was unaware of how poorly the other company performed until we switched. Our yard was markedly improved with just a couple of treatments from them. They respond to concerns in a timely manner, and have always been friendly. I believe they are a bit pricier than some other companies, but at least I feel comfortable knowing I am getting what I pay for. I have and will continue recommending their services. I am a very pleased customer.

It works! We have used them for four to five years and our grass has gradually gotten better and better. Now it looks good, very lush and green.

I have signed up for Cragen Lawn Care for the past two years. My yard has never looked better! Even my neighbors commented on how good the yard looked all last year. They are very responsive to phone calls and while I have not "shopped around" too much, I believe their prices are fair. The price quoted above is for an entire year's worth of lawn treatments, including grub control and a fall aeration.

They did what they said they would do.

Our yard looks better and is healthier now than it has in years. It also outshines our neighbors. We have had other firms, but have never been satisfied with the results. Cragen is willing to work with us, customizing the applications for our schedule. Someone always calls us the day before an application is scheduled to make sure it is convenient to any plans we might have for activities in the yard, and to coordinate mowing and/or watering. In February/March we decide the number and type of treatments we want, and pay in advance for the year to receive a discount. Of course, one may choose to sign up for the standard recommended applications and/or pay at the time of each treatment. We would highly recommend Cragen to anyone.

They are a real good company. If we have any problems after they have sprayed the yard, they will come back to look at it and take care of it. We have not had any problems with them. It costed us about $80. We will hire them in future.

The owner himself came out to look at my project. He's been in the business for many years. Impressed with his professionalism. Waiting for my first lawn treatment to get scheduled. I get a discount for buying the full year program in advance.
