Kessinger Lawn Care

We have received two of the three treatments and we have seen fewer ants. The visits are not scheduled, but rather spread out throughout the year. We learn they were out by the invoice on the door.

I contacted him asking for specific treatments, due in part because there was no indication on what type of treatment would be included. He told me I would have to take the first three treatments on their yearly regiment. I was not given any options on which treatments I wanted, specifically he would not allow me to skip some of the early year treatments in exchange for a fall treatment.

Initial purchase in Feb., '12. First treatment performed in late April or early May. After several weeks, I noted unusually weedy conditions, and called Kessinger to inquire as to the date of their 2cd treatment, since my lawn had since turned into one giant weed garden. I was told in effect that, due to the unusually dry winter, weeds were especially bad this year, and so I may not see good results after their first treatment. I asked simply then, what was the purpose of your initial treatment, since it appeared to have been essentially ineffective, and when could they spray for weeds. They said in 4 to 6 weeks. After the 2cd treatment, the drought began, followed shortly by the watering ban in Fishers. As a result, my lawn was pretty much shot by the end of summer. Then, after the August rains, and the grass began to grow again (along with the billions of weeds), I attempted to contact Kessinger again to ask when they'd be applying the third and final treatment (in hopes of "weeding out" some of the weeds...no pun intended). Unfortunately, after multiple calls and emails, I never received a reply. In my final voice mail, I told them that Angies List had asked for my review of their services, but that I didn't wish to pen an unfavorable review prior to giving them the opportunity to get back to me, since I had assumed they might be extremely busy. However, after waiting for weeks, I decided to contact Angies List and ask if they were aware of any problems with Kessinger. It was then I noted other customers had experienced the same problems - no response. Bottom line is simply that, busy or no, a professional company should extend the tiniest courtesy to its paying customers by at least replying to their inquiries. If they're overwhelmed at the moment, they should at least send an email saying as much, and apologizing for the delay. They didn't, and are therefore most certainly NOT professional in my opinion.

It always goes well. Kevin does a fantastic job. Since weather plays a large role in their business (Can't perform service due to rain or drought) Kevin and Karen always call me to let me know when they will be coming or if there is a delay. Since we have had a drought this year, a lot of yards are in very poor shape, and weeds are taking over...not mine. It looks good and kept it's color. I will be using this company in the future, and would recommend them to anyone.

We purchased a Big Deal of $149 for the leaf removal, which included trimming bushes and doing the final lawn mowing for the season. I called right away to schedule, knowing that he would probably be busy and we wanted to schedule close to the end of the leaf season. We agreed on a date over the phone but Mr. Kessinger told me he did not have his calendar with him. He said he would call if there was an issue with the date. He was explicit that we would be responsible for the leaves on our roof, so we planned to clear the roof before he came so all the leaves could be removed. Our challenge came when he arrived a week early. We had not cleared off the roof, which was covered in leaves, because we expected him the following week. He made a comment that perhaps he had not gotten the message to his wife who handled the calendar. I agreed that he should go ahead because he was completely booked and I was afraid he would not get to us until into December. He suggested that perhaps his guys could blow off the roof. Unfortunately, they could not blow off the roof, not even close. So then he put it back on us. Suggested we had mixed up the date, not him and complained that it was unreasonable to ask him to do the roof on a Big Deal. His crew did a decent job on the leaf clearing, and we had no complaints with the additional work. But getting that roof cleared was a real headache. We had to work hard to make our case, we would get his commitment to do it, but then something would come up. Eventually we had a day scheduled and that weekend, the wind blew hard and the issue resolved itself. I feel sure he would have handled it, but he made it clear he thought we were wrong and abusing his service. THe actual leaf service was good, but the scheduling error soured everything else.

I was very happy with the two lawn treatments that were performed. They were done as promised, on time, etc. The problem is, the deal was for three treatments and they never came back to do the third treatment. I have called three times over the past three weeks, left voice mail messages twice, and have not received a return call, or been contacted in any way in order to schedule the third visit. Obviously, I'm not at all happy. It was a good price for three visits, rather expensive for just two. The original deal for for three visits for a total of $89.00. Before the first visit, I was informed that due to the size of my lawn, it would be an extra $12.00 per visit. I paid the additional $12.00 after each application. Update: After contacting Angie's List to complain about this company, Kessinger's did contact me and shortly thereafter performed the last lawn treatment.

Needless to say I was very disappointed in the company, but I was also disappointed in Angie's List. I just assumed that everyone on list could be trusted and were reliable. This company was not that way at all.

Purchasing the Big Deal was easy. The company emailed us to tell us they would start the service shortly. After a few days, we hadn't heard anything regarding a specific date so my husband called the company. He requested that they call to notify us before coming to spray the yard. We have two small children and wanted to be prepared for when they came. They stated that they would not call us and could only send an email notification. We came home from shopping and saw them finishing up with spraying the yard. We were expecting company that evening and had planned to play outside. It was very frustrating to see this surprise visit. They said they had sent us an email. When we checked our SPAM folder, their email was in there. My husband told them that since we didn't receive the email, could they please call us for the final treatment. The supervisor curtly informed us that would not be possible. Therefore, we cancelled our final treatment. As this was a Big Deal purchase, there are no refunds. Their company did not offer any form of compensation.

Company was quick to resond to my question BEFORE i bought the "big deal" coupon when i was simply asking questions as i was debating to buy the big deal coupon. After i bought the coupon, i called, left voicemails and didnt get a response. I understand if he got really busy because of all the big deals and it got over whelming. I was simply trying to find out when he would come to treat my lawn. One day i came home and i saw a note on the door saying the lawn was treated. I called again a few weeks later wondering when the second and third treatment would be done cause the weeds were really getting bad at my lawn. Again, no response. I dont know when the second treatment was done but i saw some flags on my lawn indicating the 3rd treatment was done. Never met the person once, nor talk to him...so i technically dont know if the lawn was treated cause i didnt see it. Over all, i didnt see any results with the treatment. May be 3 treatments werent enough,to see results and i honestly think that advertising the big deal made business over whelming for him and thats why he simply coudnt handle the volume of calls...but still my experience wasnt good,so i have to rate the company accordingly. May be he took a bite more than he could chew with the big deal, but let's learn from the mistakes. Good luck next time!

Essentially I have ended up paying $89 for one (of the three I paid for) application of lawn fertilizer and weed control. I purchased a Big Deal for this company in February, 2012. Kessinger's did the first application in late March. The second application was scheduled but never completed. I forgot to open the backyard gate that day, so if they did show up - and I don't know if they did - they wouldn't have been able to do the application. I contacted Kessinger's to reschedule but received no response, nor have I heard from them about scheduling the third application. I give Kessinger's a "D" for pricing instead of an "F" because while $89 is a Big Deal for three lawn care applications, it seems a bit steep for the one application they actually did.

I have yet to receive the third treatment. I called him 3 times and emailed 3 times and he answered my email last week and said they would be out. They still have not been out. I understand the heat and appreciate that they didn't want to spray because of weather. But after two treatments I stil have tons of weeds and crabgrass. Plus the lack of responsiveness is not acceptable.

They never finished the applications even though I pre-paid thru Angie's List. We would not recommend this company and we would highly recommend removal from Angie's list.

He came,he spread Weed & Feed, and then he left. This occured 3 times.

Well. Showed up and got the job done- lawn aeration.

With two applications remaining since May we both aggreed to have another in the summer and one in the fall. Two reasons made that difficult. One was because his business was on the east side of Indianapolis and my lawn was in Anderson. Not exactly in his regular service area. The second reason was the terrible weather we have had over the last three months. Lawn was dried out. Watered when I could but restrictions stopped that. Contacted Kevin via e-mail and he suggested that the lawn probable needed an irrigation treatment which was $85 I think before the next treatment gets put on. I sent back another e-mail agreeing to the irrigation treatment but haven't heard back from him. So as of 9/6/12 only 1/3 of the agreement has been done.

Purchased the Deal and received phone call within 2 days to schedule work. It was scheduled for approximately a week later. They arrived on time, did the work quickly and efficiently. Couldn't ask for anything more!

I would hire them again for the mulch definitely. Their price to spread it was actually very comparable to when I bought mulch myself four years ago and hired someone on my own to do it--and this is 2012 prices now, so I was very satisfied. I think the company tries very hard to please. I've already recommended them to three other friends.

It all went fine, until they cut the electric dog fence of my neighbor. Prior to the service, they asked if I had such a fence. I replied no, but my neighbor does. This was either missed or was not communicated to the man who did the aeration step. They were very apologetic about it and reimbursed my neighbor for the repair. It did take another email from me to see that through. Due to our drought their work didn't show much in results until the recent rains. My lawn has recovered quite well. Unfortunately,the weeds have too ?!?!!? I understood that I would be getting a spot treatment for that in the Big Deal, but I haven't heard from them, even though I have sent an email asking about my next treatment.

Big Deal was based on 10,000 square feet maximum. After I had committed to the Big Deal i was informed that my yard was larger than 10,000 square feet and I would have an upcharge of $25 per application. At that point i had no choice but to pay the additional charge. I felt like this was a bait and switch tactic.

A little hard to assess due to our extreme drought. However, before that, I did see a significant improvement in my lawn's health after two applications (though I did notice a few weeds still). Overall, they did a pretty good job, & I would use them again.
