Kessinger Lawn Care

All the work was done. They did not leave any trash and they left everythingn the way it was when they came except for the work they did.

Had some difficulty scheduling the first treatment, but they were friendly on the phone. Spoke directly with the owner. When they did come out, they applied the first two treatments at the same time and said that someone would be calling later in the summer to schedule the final application. I understood the reasoning for applying 2 at once and that was fine with me. Those treatments were effective. The summer was very dry so it makes sense that there may not have been an opportunity to do the third application, but I never received any further contact from the provider. If it were the case that no third application was possible I believe I should have been notified and some rebate or scheduling for next year but also that the company should have initiated contact with me.

Work was performed in a professional manner and the lawn looks great. Our lawn was larger in area than the Deal provided for, but vendor charged a very reasonable adjustment for the additional square footage. Results speak for themselves.

They were very spotty on when the actual treatments were performed. Initially they were within about a week of when they said they'd come out. In the end it turned out to be a communications breakdown to when they would do things and were very unresponsive. Ultimately the services were performed, but the frustration with trying to gauge when they were actually going to come out was large.

Called made appointment out in a couple of days, serviced and follow up as well. Very easy to work with

Gentleman explained that because of the size of my lot that the application would cost $40 more per treatment, thereby making the $89 purchase a $210 purchase. He performed the first two treatments over the summer, but went MIA. I had to call in October and request the third treatment. He explained that because of the drought conditions that he had held off on the third treatment. I agree with his reasoning, but I don't agree with his communication practices; I shouldn't have had to call and ask. I prefer to work with vendors that have proactive customer service skills.

We were contacted by company after the purchase of the service. We were given a vague time for the first application which was to be a pre-emergence treatment for crabgrass. Due to the early Spring weather we expressed a concern that the first application was going to be too late to prevent crabgrass since it would be sprouting much sooner than their application. We were also told that the cost would be twice as much as the Angie's list Big Deal due to the size of our lawn. Our lawn may have been a little over the size of the packaged deal, however, it was not twice as large since we have landscape areas that would not require treatment. They just used simple Google area maps of lot sizes and didn't consider landscaping. They did not adjust their timing of the first application so we told them that we wished to cancel. They came to our house in spite of our application and applied their first treatment and left their additional bill at our door. Since we received the service we sent the additional payment and decided to allow the service and pay the doubled charge. In May we received the 2nd treatment and paid the additional costs. We were told in May through an email that they would be back in 5-6 weeks to complete the 3rd application. We never received that 3rd application. We have tried to contact them through email and phone but have not received a response NOR have we received the 3rd application which we paid for with the purchase of the Big Deal offer. Our yard had more weeds this year than it has ever had. We paid for 3 applications, only received 2. We were charged double for the 2 that we received. Not only were we overcharged for the service and they didn't complete their end of the deal, it was not effective in preventing or killing the weeds. We will not use this company again and would not recommend them.

They walked through the yard, helping us to decide what area would be best for the use. After review, they split up the area to best utilize the service.

They came out around the first of March and applied fertilizer. After the first treatment, my lawn grew like crazy, so I was happy with the result. Seven weeks after the first treatment they still hadn't show up for the second treatment, so I called a couple of times and they finally came out. They never did come out a third time or contact me again.

They were polite on the phone in scheduling. They came at a convenient time. Their work helped my lawn. They didn't try to sell me additional services, which I really appreciated since I do all other lawn care myself.

This was a special from Angie's list. This was the third of three treatments for $90.00. They also aerated my lawn at a very good additional price.

Overall it went well. I was in Florida when the first treatment was to occur. The vendor graciously mowed the lawn since I did not have time to do it before leaving for vacation. Unfortunately, this was a bad summer in terms of drought, which made it difficult for the vendor to keep on a schedule (something out of the vendor's control). The vendor was good about leaving a slip in the door when they had provided treatment. I had several questions for the vendor and they were always good about providing answers to my questions or promptly returning my call if a message was left.

I found Kevin Kessinger a personable man, but unreliable with regard to his scheduling and communications.....

Mr. Kessinger performed 2 services in the spring but was unable to perform the third service because of the drought. I called him in August to ask him about the 3rd service and he confirmed that he would be doing the 3rd application in the fall. I had tree and shrub fertilization service through another company in the past so I asked him about that service last spring. He recommended a deep root fertilization and quoted a price of $500. I thought it was a bit expensive but I have a lot of trees and shrubs that are large and wanted to ensure their good health. I'm glad that I followed his recommendation because everything survived the drought without issues while I saw many dead trees and shrubs in the neighborhood. When he came out to do the 3rd fertilization, I asked him about aeration and overseeding because of the state of my lawn due to the drought and past unsatisfactory lawn service. He recommended both services, as well as an application of phosphorus (?) if I really wanted to see lawn density improvement in the spring. I proceeded with that recommendation and expect that I'll see good results in spring. Mr. Kessinger seems very knowledgeable and hard-working. His prices might be a bit higher than some large corporate lawn services because his business is smaller and probably can't get the same large quantity discounts. I've used the large corporate lawn services in the past and while I could always get someone on the phone immediately when I had issues, the results from their services (lawn and trees/shrubs fertilization) were much less satisfactory. I might have to occasionally leave a message for Mr. Kessinger but I get a response in timely manner. I'd recommend Mr. Kessinger's services to anyone whose priority is getting quality results.

I am not pleased with Kessinger Lawn Care. I started using them a year ago and they will not be coming back next year. They were supposed to be here today to do the fall cleanup and they are not here. Two weeks ago they came to say there were going to do the fall cleanup but they said they would schedule it for the 17th of the month. I said don't do it yet since my leaves hadn't all fallen, but would you cut the grass. So they cut the grass and my husband went out and said what is going on don't you mulch the leaves when you cut the grass. They said their boss told them to set it at a certain height. That it was not low enough to mulch the leaves. So they didn't really cut the grass, because there are leaves all over the grass. I don't know what they are doing. They are a strange company. Their follow through is terrible, they say they are coming on a certain day and they don't do it, and they haven't billed me in a month. I haven't paid her, so I shouldn't be complaining. I think they expanded to fast and they can't do what they promised to do. My neighbor across the street called me because they had asked for a quote for cleaning up their backyard and he asked for their number. I said why and he said they had told him they would be out Friday or Saturday to clean up his leaves and now it is Tuesday and he hadn't heard anything. We called them I can't tell you how many times this past spring to cut the grass, because I was having a dinner party and they kept saying they would be here. Finally there was a guy cutting the grass across the street and he asked if I wanted him to come back and cut our grass and I said yeah. Finally like an hour later they showed up to cut my grass. My husband and I kept calling and asking if they were coming and if they weren't to just let us know so we could hire someone else. I don't know why I stuck it out the entire year. I would not recommend them.

It took more than a few weeks to get scheduled, because they were so busy. That worked out, because by the time they came, all of the leaves were down.

Kevin was very professional when we first met to discuss what we needed for him to take care of. He was prompt and on time with his work. Very reliable and fair

They did a very good job for us. Our lawn hasn't looked this good in years. Due to the drought this summer, the last treatment was delayed several weeks. The Kessingers were responsive to e-mails and phone calls, which must have been difficult given the weather challenges.

I am not sure if they will do it again this year. I think they were delayed because of the drought. I was quite disappointed. I asked if they used organic supplies because I have free range chickens. They stated they would. However, when they came they stated they would have to return another day with organic supplies because if not it would kill the chickens. I had to contact them many times and I would not use their services again.

At the start they were very nice & professional and I received my first treatments. However as the summer went on they never returned. I contacted them several times both through voice mail & email with no response. When Angie's List contacted them on my behalf, they stated they had been waiting to do further treatments due to the excessive summer heat. They made an offer for me to wait for for the drought to break & they would finish the treatments or they would give me a partial refund. I needed the work done & still wanted to give them a chance so I said I would wait. Bad call on my part. A couple more months went by, the weather had cooled & rain came in but Kessinger's never returned. I then contracted with another company to do the fall fertilization to my yard and sent both an email and left a voice mail for Kessinger's that since they were a no show to complete the work I had sought service from someone else. I requested the refund they had offered earlier in the summer. I have never received a response from them. I was very disappointed with the service & lack of communication with this company.

Two applications were done before the drought. When I called in October, Kevin Kessinger said he would give us a winterization treatment in place of the third fertilization. I appreciate the fact that he did not just complete the 3rd application while the drought was going on. The way he handled it was totally acceptable to me. The only reason I said I would not use him again is that I have signed a contract with another company.
