I got a GFCI outlet and 2 new switches put in the garage, and one GFCI outlet put in my downstairs bath. Austin also evaluated my breaker box, and a couple of outlets in the house and made necessary changes to them as well. Austin works very quickly, and is very knowledgeable about what is and not "code"

Description of Work: Checked the fuse box and technician told me it was fine. He was professional and courteous and he explained to me what he was doing.

Description of Work: I used Ellison Electric to install a new entry light in a 2-story foyer. They had to rent scaffolding to do this. They installed new smoke detectors and bathroom and dining room lights.

Description of Work: Short circuit in a series of lights, saw the problem immediately and took care of it. Before we had an other problems, a different one to locate a short circuit, when another electrician had failed.

Description of Work: We called Ellison Electric following a handyman's job in which a wire was cut in the wall that was not visible and unable to be diagnosed without a tool that reads where the electrical current stops. The handyman told me that it was impossible to diagnose the exact location of the cut without this tool so I needed to call my electrician. This information was told to Ellison before he came out however the tool to diagnose such a problem was not on his truck so he tried for 90 minutes to find the problem with no success. The following day a group of three men came and when using the diagnostic tool the problem was located and solved. The group also found that we had aluminum wires attached to copper and place the safe kind of wire covers to keep those from getting hot and causing a fire. They also made some corrections from the handyman's install of a light. During all this work however the refrigerator stopped working due to the on and off of the circuit. I was told by the refrigerator repair man that when power is cut and then quickly put back on, this causes a surge and the wires were actually melted inside. At this point I was willing to pay the bill and forgive the first days ineffective diagnosis work because they did find and fix the aluminum/copper unsafe connections. A day later I tried to turn on a corner light in that room and found that it would not come on. I had been told that all the switches in that room had been examined and correct safe wiring replaced, so I called back and they came out and found that that switch had been overlooked and in fact, the ceiling box was no longer working. The ceiling will have to be cut out and the control replaced and I was charged for the time, trip and to put on the safety cover over the aluminum/copper connection. Once again, damage was done due to the on/off of the circuit breaker on the first day of this job and I incur great expense which still has yet to be fixed and the whole ceiling will have to be repainted. Repair nightmare is how I would describe this experience. First on the part of the handyman, who did knock off the cost of an efficient electrical repair, and then the ongoing problems due to the electrician not using the effective diagnostic tool and turning on and off the circuits. The overall cost of time and money was fifty percent more than necessary. When I asked about these things I was told I was mistaken and the bill was not adjusted other than removal the the third trip charge. After years of good service I am very disappointed to see the change in attitude and business practices. The overall cost will continue until the painting is complete and the repair in the ceiling light is fixed.
