+ -1 moreWe called first thing Tuesday morning. The person who answered the phone said their electricians were out on jobs but they would try to get to us that day. They called us about noon to tell us they would be at our house by 1 p.m. They arrived 10 minutes early and had everything fixed in less than an hour. We were very pleased with the service -- and the price.
Description of Work: When our electric stove died, we discovered it had been hardwired instead of plugged in. Therefore, we had to have someone un-hardwire it and install an outlet before we could get a new stove. We called this company because it had a good rating and was also giving a discount to Angie's List members. While they were at our house, we also had the electrician check and fix two other minor problems: a bulb with a loose connection in the kitchen ceiling fixture and a light in the bathroom that didn't always turn on when you flip the swtich. The cost for those three items is after the $20 discount.

+ -1 moreThey showed up at 7:30 as promised and were done by 3:30. My power was back on before 4:00 and it looks very good. They did everything on the estimate for the same quoted price even though they ran into some issues that definitely took extra work/time.
Description of Work: I had my entire panel and riser replaced as well as some minor wiring corrected from the main panel to a sub-panel. They had to remove all the old material as well as cut out wood and concrete to get the new panel box in. They also had to cut and notch 2x4's to get the new box in. Downstairs, they had to notch out where a sub-panel line was run. They asked me what I wanted to do and offered several options while telling me the good and bad of each option. They also increased the height of my riser finally getting my power line off of my roof and gutter.

+ -1 moreThey came out that same day within about an hour. We explained what was going on an what we suspected. He confirmed that the main breaker had gone bad and needed to be replaced. He had it fixed within about an hour. They are very responsive, friendly and knowledgable. I will definitely use them again. They will be my go to guys for electrical needs.
Description of Work: Main breaker had gone bad. Service to parts of the house would go out and breaker(s) had to be reset. Finally no electricity at all.

+ 0 moreI found Ellison Electric on Angie's list and called earlier in the week of service. Bill Ellison, the owner, wasn't in the office when I called. The receptionist offered that he could call me back later that night at 9:30PM or the next day. I said 9:30PM was fine. Bill called at exactly 9:30 and spent 30 minutes with me on the phone discussing my needs. I scheduled an appointment for the service that Friday. On Friday, he showed up on time and ready to go. Bill and his employees were so courteous, punctual, professional, and did excellent work. They wouldn't take a step in my house without boot covers on their feet. We are extremely happy with the work they did. It is so hard to find home contractors that provide good service and provide quality work. I would highly recommend working with them and plan to do it again.
Description of Work: Removal of an outdoor light fixture on my garage, installation of a junction box and new fixture in its place. Repair and removal of the outdoor light fixture on my front porch. Assessment and removal of my pool light, repair and installation of a new pool light fixture.

+ -1 moreI worked with Bill Ellison to get an estimate to replace all the can light sockets and inserts in our kitchen. I was able to provide Bill with a description and pictures of my lights and sockets so that he could see what we needed. He was able to use that data to provide an estimate. He was very helpful in explaining my options and providing the estimate. Using email and the pictures worked very well and provided a very quick turn around time. Once we selected Ellison Electric to perform the work, they replied promptly with a work date. The installer was very good. He had been briefed about the job and was familiar with what needed to be done. His work was completed well within the estimated time to complete. He was knowledgeable and answered the questions we had with the level of detail we requested. We'd definitely use both Elliison Electric and the technician who provided the work again.
Description of Work: Ellison Electric replace the sockets and inserts in all the can lights in our kitchen.

+ 0 moreIt felt like one of those "old school" service experiences. It's not often you find a service company that will give you the right advice and save you money, but when you do, you stick with them. Next time I need electrical service, Ellison Electric will be my first call. Thanks Bill!
Description of Work: I called Ellison Electric on a Saturday morning, even though I knew they were closed, seeking help on Monday morning for my exterior electrical service wire pulling away from its anchor point on the house. When I called, I mentioned I knew they were closed, but if they could call me first thing Monday morning, I'd appreciate it. Bill Ellison ended up giving me a call on Sunday evening, since he had happened to be in the office - an unexpected surprise, since the problem appeared to be getting worse (i.e. the anchor point was pulling further off the house). He asked me to explain the situation, which I did. What came next was something that makes me sincerley appreciate Ellison's company. He went on to explain that I should purchase a new anchor fitting and call Indianapolis Power & Light and explain I needed the service drop temporarily disconnected and pulled away. "That's what I would do - and it will save you the money you'd have to pay me or another company to do it for you," Bill said. The next day, I did just that. I found the anchor fitting at the hardware store for $5, called IPL and completed the work myself (except the IPL technician's help) in under 30 minutes altogether.

Description of Work: I have had to call Mr. Ellison on many occasions concerning electrical problems. If there is anyone better out there I don't know who it would be. My only complaint was that I wish they had cleaned up a little more, there were a few old pieces of wire and debris left around the work area when they were done. Overall I am pleased with the work. In fact we had to call him one night for a quick repair following these repairs and he responded within hours and was out the first thing the next morning. Very professional.
Description of Work: Repair various electrical issues resulting from a home inspection for the sale of our home. They rewired some things, installed new boxes, labeled the main box and removed some outlets that were not used.

Description of Work: I had to have two ceiling fans changed out. I picked them for their A rating on this list, and their location in Greenfield, since I live on the far east side of Indy. I called yesterday morning, left a message which was promptly returned. Bil Ellison called me later to schedule an appointment for today, and the electrician arrived rght on time. The ceiling fans were changed out with out any difficulty, and the new ones operate very quietly. Matt did a great job.

He was thorough. He was so professional and so smart. Electrical stuff can be pretty complicated and he explained everything down to the exact detail. He helped me and my real estate agent word it so that we could put it in the report. Then, he didn't charge a thing. I told him that even before we move in that we are remodeling and Bill Ellison will be the first person I call for electrical help. Highly recommend.

Initially, there was to be a switch plate with 3 places, but when that wasn't possible, the light was connected to fan (not what we wanted). After talking with Bill, he promptly sent someone out to correct it.
