Jay and his men are perfectionists. They are honest. They care about the quality of their work and the satisfaction of their customers. They are extremely punctual and they are men of their words. They are a family business built on integrity. They are neat and organized. They take down and put back everything when they paint, including rehanging pictures. They even offered to install new light fixtures for free if I wanted to change them. Jay has wonderful taste and a great eye for design, and is practical too. Their carpentry work is excellent, too. We have used them for many projects over the last 20 years. Sometimes their bills are high because they do things so carefully and don't take shortcuts but they are very fair and stay very close or even with their estimates. They also excel at difficult problems that others have failed to remedy. I can't say enough good about them. We also had them sand and recoat 2 very large decks with intricate railings and we had never found someone before to get the finish to last more than a year. This is year 3 and it's still looking good. They are the best!

We had a slow start due to the insurance company dragging their feet. Jay helped us negotiate a fair settlement with them and stayed in constant contact as we waited through the long winter and wet spring. When the weather finally broke they came promptly and the work was done in about a weeks time. All his employees were friendly and polite. They were patient and kind to my curios kids and dog. They took meticulous care to clean up everyday. Other's have commented on the cost of their service but you get what you pay for and while it was at the max end of our budget we're thrilled with the results and service of JD Holm & Sons.

It went perfectly. They started work on a Monday, when they arrived there were about 5 or 6 there ready to work. I wondered how they all would fit, as I have a small house. But they all had their jobs to do and got right to work. Each day when I came home from work they were gone and they never left a mess, they cleaned up before they left. The last day they came back just to be sure everything was done to their liking and to mine. I love my new kitchen.

Our family was relocating from out of state and had only three weeks to have a variety of updates done to our home before we moved in. JD Holm & Sons were able to meet with us when we were in town for one day for the closing, provided prompt quotes thereafter and were able to fit us into an already full schedule in order to have everything done before we moved in. Their attention to detail and quality of work is impeccable. Not a stray spot of paint to be found! I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for meticulous professionals to complete his or her home renovations.

These guys were on time, completely professional, and most importantly, NICE TO MY PETS. They were very efficient, didn't even need to tape anything. They repaired flaws they found before they painted. Their supervisor called to check on them, and then came over when the job was complete. He even painted over a spot on one wall in the kitchen. They were a little pricey, but worth every cent, and I will absolutely call them again for painting, as well as other contracting. Very, very satisfied, and I have already recommended them.

Everyone was very professional, always on time, was respectful of my home and cleaned up after themselves. I couldn't be happier with the entire remodel. In the future, I will only use J.D. Holm for anything I have done in my home.

In each case, Jay and I sat down and discussed what I wanted to achieve. He then visited again with ideas and materials samples, particularly possibilities for tile. Once I picked out the tiles and flooring, he took a deposit, placed orders, and set a tentative schedule for beginning, which we revised somewhat as it got closer to beginning. I moved out with my cat for the early parts of the job (a few days for the hall bath, longer for the bath off my bedroom). Jay kept me informed on a regular basis (often daily) about when the men would arrive in the morning and what they'd be doing that day. On the first bath, he also accompanied me to Lowes and elsewhere to pick out hardware. On the second, he had a good idea of what I liked and mostly brought things in for my approval (or refusal). I scoured wallpaper books both times and then consulted with Jay about the final choices. The first bath took 3 weeks and a day, almost exactly what he predicted. The second took about four weeks, with most of the work completed in three. The guys kept the rest of the house as clean as they could, though a fair amount of dust was unavoidable. During the construction, there was one minor accident, a leak into the basement recreation room, which caused the man involved a lot more angst than it did me. When the job was finished, the repair was so perfect you'd never have known anything had happened. These were the fourth and fifth jobs Jay Holm has done for me over the years, and I remain a huge fan.

Overall Jay and his crew did an EXCELLENT job! Painters were extremely professional, precise in their work and easy to work with. Carpenter is a master at all he does. Crew is hard working, relliable and honest. The projects were cleaned up at the end of the day. Staging area was always tidy. The many projects were brought in on time and on budget. Jay had many expert, creative ideas for remodeling and even presented the bathroom remodel on a story board. Jay, the painters, the carpenter and the crew went above and beyond our highest expectations! We are looking forward to using J D Holm and Sons for other projects in our home.

The men were always on time, energetic, and careful. The trucks carried away dead trees and brought well-shaped new evergreens (Jay selects nurseries with the reputations for carrying sturdy stock), and no matter how many branches and debris they hauled away, or how much dirt and mulch they delivered, they left the street clean every single day. Much to my surprise, Jay discovered that a large boulder previously almost hidden could be a striking feature if set upright. He added a small new redwood tree a few feet from the boulder, and created a curving line of evergreens with quite a graceful focus at the end.

Jay Holm patiently helped me select the right color and even added a day of work when a second coat was necessary to achieve the shade I desired. The painters were precise, well prepared, quietly friendly, thorough, and very careful. I found the walls and all trim beautiful and they left the room very clean and the windows sparkling. Jay returned to inspect the work, hang the drapes, and make sure I was completely satisfied. I certainly was!

Taking into account variations in the 3 proposals I got, Jay's was in the middle. Main difference from other proposals, though, was his insight into what really needed to be done to deal with my concerns. For example, I'd planned to get high-end counters and leave the kitchen floor alone. Jay recognized that the floor color was the main problem with the space, and proposed that I go with good quality laminate counters (more appropriate to house's vintage) and put the savings into a new floor. It's amazing what a difference that made to the whole look of the room. He worked with me to pick the right paint colors and to make decisions about other aspects of the projects throughout the house (sometimes doing less than planned, sometimes more). He listens well and has a terrific eye for color, design and detail. His crews are friendly, meticulous and invariably on time. Jay is also uncommonly available to help in an emergency (like when my toilet sprung a leak) or to give advice when asked.
