I had a very compressed timetable for this job and they performed everything from start to finish in just over 3 days, even working around my dog. Cleaned up after themselves every night. Pleasant and stress free experience.

The work was excellent. When we were in the early stages of soliciting estimates for our bathroom remodel, Jay Holm (the owner of the company), responded to our queries quickly and professionally. He first came to evaluate the project and returned several times as my wife and I began narrowing down what we wanted. Jay worked out a detailed estimate for us, which included breakdowns of all of the labor and materials, and he indicated a variety of ways we could work within our existing budget. Jay was the most professional of any of the contractors whom we contacted. After we agreed on a final budget, work began in early December. His team arrived promptly and began the scheduled two week (ten day) project. Their work was highly professional ? they were careful, courteous and cleaned the workspace at the end of every work day. My wife and I were home for most of the project (we are professors on winter break) and experienced very little inconvenience. I was particularly impressed by the caliber of work ? Jay uses high quality materials, and his team?s work was impeccable (especially the floor tile and wall tile work). Jay also helped us with choosing some fixtures, even meeting with us (unprompted) at two stores. The finished product is the transformation of a drab, functional bathroom into a beautiful 1920s style bathroom. Two added bonuses: the work was completed two days early and under budget by about 15%. I recommended him unreservedly, and will use him for future work on our house.

He is wonderful. When I really need someone good who will get to the bottom of things and be very honest, I call him. He is impeccable. He is clean and neat and leaves the house in better shape than when he arrived. When they paint they put the dishes back up on the wall and put everything back. He also does kitchens and bathrooms but I have not used him for that. He does general remodeling work and even roofs. He is the best person I have ever had. He can be a little expensive because he is such a perfectionist and is always very fair with us. When he tells you a price he sticks to it. If you want quality work I would go with him. His prices are moderately high but fair and accurate. He never tries to rip you off.

Work is ongoing as this review is written. Very impressed with preliminary work and assistance in planning. Expect work to be completed over the next month. Work is top-notch and done very professionally. Work is being done on schedule and workers are obviously competent and well-trained. A first-rate job throughout from first planning session to finish of actual construction

Perfect. Perfect. Beautiful. Perfect.

Jay was promt, took him only about 2 minutes to decide he needed to bring in a structural engineer. Not even 5 minutes after Jay left I had the engineer calling me to set up an appointment. The engineer, Bill Owens came out and surveyed the house, figured out what needed to be done, and took notes. The two of them got together and formulated a plan. Then Jay contacted me and laid it all out. The cost, and step by step what had to happen. Turns out there just isn't enough equity in the home to finance such a project. Hopefully the problem doesn't get any worse until I can rid of the house.

I contacted J D Holm & Sons and received a near immediate response. The very next day Mr. Holm came out, surveyed the job, provided an estimate, and agreed upon a completion date. Communication throughout was excellent; timely, courteous, and professional. The work was performed on schedule and to the utmost level of perfection. In 35+ years of hiring painters, J D Holm & Sons are by far the best we've ever had. They left the area cleaner than when they arrived and even removed paint on woodwork left by other painters. Siding repair was also skillfully done and beyond expectations. This definitely is the company I will call next time I need work completed.

After the work was scheduled, the team worked rapidly to complete the project with regular consultations with me to make sure that I understood the work that was required and understood the options and costs thereof. They were very respectful of our personal space and time. When complications arose, Jay worked directly with me to ensure that we took the right next steps. The work is excellent quality and the finished product is highly satisfactory.

Crew arrived on time, worked all day, each day and cleaned up when done. They were working on the 2nd floor and I have an office in the basement. Most of the time I didn't know they were there. They tore down the old partial wall, including the original tiled shower, the floor and the drywall on the walls & ceiling. All of the plumbing was redone, pressure and waste and a new floor installed. I decided to change to shower fixture position after work had started from the middle of the wall to an angle area at the entrance to assure that the water would stay in the shower area and not the dry-off area. They accommodated me with no delay or additional cost. They built the vanity top in their office to assure that it would fit properly in the new vanity area. The shower area is completely tiled, floor and walls and works as well as I had hoped. They installed the new door, painted the room and tiled the floor. I have been completely satisfied with the project.

His quote was good. It was reasonable but the timing just did not work out for me. His quote was very detailed. I think he covered everything I was interested in. He was polite and professional. He was not at all pushy. He did not get back to me as soon as I thought he might. I sent him another email asking when I was going to get the quote from them. It took me about a week and a half to two weeks to get the quote back. I thought I could have it back sooner than that. He did not do any work for me because at that time he did not work out. I wanted it sooner than when he could get to it. As far as him showing up and giving me a quote, not that calling me back to follow up, everything was very professional and very punctual. His quote was just a little slower in getting to me than what I expected but that was not big as a deal.

All of the people who work for Jay Holm are professionals & experts in their field. The are very prompt, work efficiently and pleasant to have around. Because of all the work they have done for me, Jay & his workers have become friends & I have the highest regard for all of them. I wouldn't have anyone else do this kind of work for me. They are perfectionists.

They did a fine job. I thought they did it in a timely manner. Everything was fine.

They're excellent. They have master painters and carpenters. They brought in a woman who helped with cabinets. She was excellent. All the work we had by JD Holm and Sons was excellent.

He is outstanding. We used him quite a lot. He is very dependable. He's very fair.

It went well. They helped in planning, color selection and were always responsive. They are expensive.

What a great group of professionals to work with. All of his crew were professional the entire time at our buisness. The work was completed quickly and looks great! What a wonderful contractor to work with, no surprises or headaches. I know who to call for any buisness remodels and personal work, Mr. Jay Holms! The work was done quicly and looks great!

Very efficient, pleasant, and professional.

From when I made the phone call, he met us the same day. He made our first contact here at home and he did a walk-through. Then he asked for some time. I know that he spent many hours. Part of the hiccup in this was that I had to go on business to San Antonio, so when I came back from San Antonio he was incredibly professionally prepared. Communication has been very timely. The plans were professionally drawn. The quote that he came in with, when we compared it to everything else, was incredibly reasonable. Even before he finished, I reached over, shook his hand, and asked him to start. His name is Jay and my name is Jay too; we had an instant rapport. As soon as my wife came in and looked at the preparation, she said this is whom we needed to go with. It's not a remodel. It's just blank walls and so he was like a kid in a candy store. He said that it was going to be fun. He is trying to do it so that it meets the other needs that we have. He was able to walk through the house and from the colors and the layout try to plan something. We are a little bit excited about getting it done. They are very responsive. I called a couple of other contractors before any comparison. One guy tried to an estimate over the phone. Honestly, we were turned off. Mr. Holm was ready and asked when he could come and do a walk-through. He did it in a timely fashion. We are eager to get it done, but we don’t want to hurry. We want it to be done so that we don’t ever have to do it again and we think we have hit a home run in that regard. I tried to scare me off because my wife is very artistic with the colors. As he walked through, I looked at him and asked him now that he had seen the house if it doesn’t scare him off at all. He said no and this was going to be fun for him. That’s what we are looking at.

Jay's men went above and beyond throughout the project. The basement was full of stuff being stored, including many boxes of books and files which I hadn't had time to clear out. They hauled as much as possible upstairs, moved everything else several times as the work progressed (including a freezer, washer, dryer, and three large file cabinets). When everything in the basement was finished, they hauled back down all the boxes I still needed there. For the upstairs work, they moved almost all the furniture to other parts of the house, cover the rest, sealed off the one doorway that couldn't be closed, cleaned and replaced their drop cloths a couple of times to protect the hardwood floors. When the work was finished, they followed my instructions to put everything back where I wanted it, reconnected the TV and stereo, and even insisted on cleaning the glass in the curio cabinet and washed the windows. It took two and a half weeks, most days full time, but I absolutely love the results.

I picked JD Holm & Sons from reviews off of Angie's List & I was not disappointed. The primary person you will deal with at JD Holm & Sons is Jay (owner/manager). Jay is very professional, timely (he and his crew were always on time for appointments and work start times. Great communication, I always knew where things stood with all aspects of this projects. Jay comminicates through email and cell phone, and is easy to get a hold of. My Project: I had no idea what I wanted. I'm a single guy and lucky to color coordinate my socks. Jay help in all aspects of design & color. He help me pick everything including cabinets, flooring, tile, ect. Jay even help me pick out a kitchen table from a local furniture store. Once the job was started, the full crew (of five including Jay) was there everyday promptly at 7:30am. Cleaned up at the end of everyday. The only break in the action was when we had to wait on the granite countertops and special order light fixtures and such. Overall I love my new Kitchen & bathroom, the transformation was awesome!! Jay's painter did an amazing job so I wanted to call him out, but the whole crew is impressive. I will use JD Holm & Sons for future projects.

Jay has been great! He has given us pointers and ideas. He brought in an engineer and a mold specialist to address some concerns we had in the basement. The work from his team was clean and professional and very quick. They laid down drop clothes and covered our flat screen TV. We will have Jay and his team back for many more projects and would recommend his company to anyone.

We did not yet move forward with the work. Perhaps in the Spring.

Really can't rate anything....because nothing happened.

They remodeled a bathroom for me.The estimate was right on target. I did add quite a few things after they started their work and they were more than accommodating. They took the walls right down to the studs. Jay suggested several things I hadn't thought about and boy am I glad that he did.They installed a new jetted tub, cabinetry, granite counter top, sink, plumbing, lighting and television.. They even took my old cabinets to Restore so some one else could get use out of them. Their faux treatment of the walls is beautiful and they put a finish on the existing mirror so it would match the new cabinets and I didn't have to buy a new one.
