Description of Work: My appointment was for between 8 & 9 AM. The man arrived about 15 minutes late, but did call before 8:30 to tell me he was on his way. He was polite and nice. The reason, however, that I am rating them a "C" is because the "Big Deal" was for a Aprilaire-600 whoe house humidifier installed. He informed me that it was just for a gas furnace and would not work on an electric furnace. My electric furnace would be an additional $450.00. I felt like that they should have stated on their Big Deal that it was just for gas furnaces. If that had been stated, I would not have purchased it. Thanks for your assistance. If there is ever an offer for a whole house humidifier installed on a electric furnace, I will definitely purchase it. Thanks again. Barbara.

Description of Work: The plumber replaced a kitchen faucet which I had purchased in advance. He did a good job, and I have not had any problems. I did think the charge was exceptionally high for this service. I have a contract with the company and this fee reflected the "discount" for contract membership. The reason I continue to pay their fees--which always seem high to me--is that they are responsive and reliable. I also appreciate the fact that their service technicians are polite and respectful when they come into my home.

They explained all options before installation. They removed and installed the units and I am very pleased with their work. I have used them with other |problems in the past I Hightly recommend them.

Description of Work: I purchased the big deal for the water heater flush and plumbing inspection. I found Johnson to be very professional, prompt, and skilled. However, the prices are excessively high. I was able to have all the recommended repairs completed by an equally skilled and courteous plumber for the price of just one valve replacement from Johnson. A difference of at least $800.

Description of Work: They came out to fix an a/c unit that wouldn't come on because we could not reach the company that installed it and had guests coming in that afternoon with health problems - could NOT be without a/c that weekend! To their credit, they got someone out same day. | |Was told anytime after 1:00pm, so took afternoon off (normal hours for me end at 3:30) - guy got there at 4:30. Granted, it WAS after 1, but communication would have saved me some paid time off. | |Guy poked around a little and said low on freon, do I want him to charge it? Well, we need air so yeah. First pound is $179, then $95 per pound after (I have since been told this on the expensive side, but how did I know? My guests were sitting roasting in the living room by now...) A while later he comes in to ask when I want him to stop - he asked after 8 pounds! A system is not usually 8 pounds low, but that is when the question was asked. | |He said there had to be a leak somewhere, but he didn't have a detector so would have to schedule yet another call to come check for where - the office would call me. Now, my understanding since this incident is that anyone working on hvac anything should have one of these leak detectors or they are at work unprepared to do the job and should NOT have to charge for a second trip out... He also let me know that my system was going to need 3-4 more pounds of freon still. | |SO - $800+ later (not to mention the maintenace plan that I signed up for that I am really starting to regret) I now have an a/c that runs... BUT, I finally reached the company that installed it and they sent a guy out who absolutely could not find a leak and says my system needs NO MORE freon. | |So I am feeling a little ripped off and a little wiser for my experience. No one from Johnson called to schedule the leak detection extra appointment (he told me there was a leak detection charge), but my other company will be coming out in a week or so to be sure my freon levels are the same - because any system that loses over 8 pounds of freon in 2 1/2 years has to have a rapid and obviously leak... NOT a slow and steady one. | |Ugh. | |(FYI - I am waiting for the second leak detection visit from company #2 before taking my grievances to Johnson. Seems like at least then I have a confirmation that the "leak" didn't exist. If that happens I will ask to cancel my maintenance agreement at the very minimum as I don't want maintenance from a company I can't trust. I would hope for some of the freon charge back as it seems like an awful lot to put into a system only running for 2 summers with no leak, but doubt very seriously that'll happen.)
