When I purchased my current house I knew the heating and cooling system was likely needing replaced in the coming years. The air conditioner really seemed to struggle in the hot summer days so I looked on Angie's List to find a good HVAC company. I contacted Johnson Heating and Cooling to get an estimate regarding a tune up and inspection. They quoted me how much the service call would be and told if there were any needed repairs the tech would provide me with the pricing. I scheduled a service call for 9-27-11 in which the technician arrived promptly. The tech was very friendly and wore a clean Johnson Heating Cooling uniform that included an ID badge. The tech started with the furnace and took the cover off of the air handler and ran several tests on the system. He told me that my furnace and air handler we functioning properly at the time and then he proceeded to check out the air conditioning unit. After running several tests on the AC unit he told me that it was testing bad electrically and that the system was almost 15 years old and that it may run for another month or another year that it was hard to tell. He asked me if I would like to set up an appointment for an estimate on a new HVAC system. I had him contact the office an he had an appointment set for 09-29-11. I thanked him for all his help and he proceeded to assist the plumber from Johnson Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing with replacing the faucet in the kitchen before he left.
Description of Work: Had air conditioner and furnace tuned up and inspected.

Sales representative (Brian) arrived on time and was very polite. He reviewed my current heating and cooling system and inspected my windows, doors, and insulation. He climbed in the attic to inspect insulation and duck work. Upon gathering all information he explained in great detail my options regarding replacing my old system. He provided me with brochures regarding Trane heat pumps and air handler systems. He informed me that Trane was running a special 3 year, no-interest financing for certain high efficiency heat pumps. Upon explaining the information he provided me with a quote for a Trane XL 15 High Efficiency unit. $7, 599 which included removal of the old air conditioner and furnace, a leveled polymer pad with pump-up legs, copper line-set & 3/8 thru slab, electrical disconnect and whip would be replaced as well. He reviewed all warrant information and told me this offer was good until October 31st. I told him I would think about it and review my options.

I had recently purchased a house which had several plumbing issues that I thought I would get fixed at the same time. I called Johnson Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing because they had good ratings on Angie's List. I called them and described each item that I needed to fix. They did not give me an estimate over the phone but informed me how much the service call would be. I scheduled an appointment for the following week because there was no emergency on any of the repairs. The plumber arrived on time and asked me to describe each repair. The plumber gave me an estimate for each repair in which I agreed to the terms and he began to work. He replaced the cold water boiler valve that attaches to my washer, repaired a running toilet in the guest bedroom, replaced a faucet in the kitchen, and checked the heating elements on the water heater. I inspected and tested the toilet in guest bathroom and faucet in the kitchen which appeared to work fine. I paid the plumber for his services and he left. Later that afternoon I attempted to do laundry and found that the cold water valve was not working. I phoned Johnson Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing and informed them of the problem and they stated they could have the plumber back out to my house on 09/30/11.
Description of Work: Replaced a faucet in the kitchen, replaced the cold water boiler valve, repaired a running toilet in the guest bathroom, and checked the heating elements on water heater.

I previously had Johnson Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing perform repairs on 09-27-11 in which they installed a kitchen faucet, repaired a running toilet in the guest bathroom, replaced the cold water boiler valve in the laundry room, and checked the heating elements on the water heater. After the repairs were made I discovered that the toilet in the guest bathroom still ran and that the cold water boiler valve did not work. I called them the following day and scheduled an appointment for the plumber to do a follow-up on the repairs made. The appointment was scheduled for 09-30-11. The plumber was on time and began to diagnose the problems from his previous visit. He found that he did not restore water pressure to the cold water boiler valve and tested it to make sure it was working properly. He told me there would be no charge for this repair. He then inspected the toilet in the guest bathroom and found that it needed to replace the fill valve. He told me that he noticed it was going bad during the previous visit but thought he could fix it without replacing it. He informed me how much it would cost and I agreed to the terms. He finished in just a few minutes and made sure everything was working properly before leaving.

We do use them quite a bit and it’s a wonderful service. They were very neat and were very fast. Even though they installed a water heater, air conditioner and heater, there was no mess around. Everything was great from the time I called them, to the time they came out for the estimate. I liked the fact that they came out to survey the site, before they started working, so that they could anticipate the problems I could have and could work around them. They put in all the diligence you would expect, when you are spending that much of money, to make sure everything goes right the first time. They came and did things right the first time itself and I haven’t had a problem till date. They are very detail oriented and excellent. The price was competitive. I shopped around with 3 vendors and all of them were in the same range. I had no problems with responsiveness as they were right on top of all the questions I had and called back immediately. They said that they will be here at 9 o clock in the morning and they were here at 9 o clock. They were top notch in professionalism and I will use them again in the future.

The initial visit did not go so well; there were quite a few mistakes made. But they did make amends and came back to fix everything. I might use them again in the future.

When I signed up for this company's services in October 2011 I was told that my heat-A/C was in good repair. I specifically asked about the A/C as my previous provider/installer had told me that the A/C was on it's last leg (even though they had installed it only 7-years prior to that. Anyway, Johnson's did the servicing in late 2011, stating that what I was told about the A/C by the prior provider was wrong. The very next time they were out in May 2012 they said the A/C was shot, resulting in a 2000.00 repair. Then, in May 2013 they informed me that while their repair was good, the A/C needed replacing. They gave me a quote on a new unit that was around hundreds of dollars more than another "A" provider on Angie's list. Since the units were identical I went with the lower quote. I found the new HVAC people very professional not to mention a big savings for me. I have now went through the summer with a completely new HVAC system and am very happy with my choice to drop Johnson's services. While they did nothing to really warrant a bad score, I would now only give them a "C" average.

The technician "Bryan" was polite, courteous, and professional. The sales representative, also named "Brian," was also very polite and professional. The information that both gentlemen provided was very helpful. The sales presentation seemed to be very matter of fact and not a "high pressure" type.
Description of Work: Annual furnace maintenance was performed on a 21 yr old gas furnace (cost = $89). The technician noted a water leak inside the furnace. The technician came back the next day and replaced an "exhaust drain couple" (cost=$147). Due to amount of rust noted inside the furnace, the technician recommended consideration of replacement of furnace. A representative from Johnson's came out at a later date and provided an estimate of replacing both the furnace and A/C.

I have used Johnson many times before for annual A/C and furnace checks. They do a nice job at a fair price. Their staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They strike me as honest and I have been impressed that even with our old, junky furnace, installed by a previous owner right before they sold the house, they have never tried to convince me that I need a new unit.

22 years ago I had this company install a high efficiency Lennox Pulse furnace which worked faithfully and efficiently until this year and had to be replaced. I picked an ultra efficient Trane system this time. But the constant in this story is the excellent work and service provided by Johnson Heating and Cooling. They never cut corners in installation and they were always there for assistance, questions, or even advice about a problem in the middle of the night. Trane does provide less expensive systems, but the true key is finding a service company you can always depend upon and that is Johnson Heating and Cooling. Thanks to Rick, Duane, David, and especially Shawn.

They are perfectly fine. I have no complaints about them. I have got a coupon for $20 off of my next service, but it doesn’t show that it has any kind of expiration date on it. I would more likely call them the next time we need air conditioning service. We use somebody else for plumbing, but we use them for air conditioning.

Company scheduled me quickly for quote. I didn't get other quotes as I have used this company for service checks for years and I trust them to be competitive. They were on time. Out of two men, one worked on furnace and one on air conditioner. Old units re-heater moved and water heater moved out of was. Plumber came early afternoon and re-installed ad water heater in new place. Had a couple of problems that were taken care by one man. Another man did all but water heater. Plumber returned and redid some fittings.

Jason Morrow arrived on time and ready to work. I showed him where we found the water this morning and he took it from there. We had recently had a kitchen appliance installed incorrectly and were recovering from water damage. As you might imagine we were exhausted and totally unprepared for more water. A great deal of wall board had been removed so Jason grabbed the nearest ladder and crawled into the exposed ceiling/floor space. He discovered the source for this particular water within seconds of my flushing the toilet. It was a poorly seated toilet...on my brand new tile bathroom floor. Did I mention it had been a very LONG week? Now I had yet another thing going wrong. I wanted the plumbing bill for reseating the toilet paid by the tile contractor so I called and asked him to come out. There was really no extra damage done and no extra repair work incurred unless you included some Clorox Clean-Up spray. Jason waited with me for the 20 minutes it took the tile contractor to arrive all the while educating me on the finer points of plumbing mistakes and what to look for. From the minute the tile contractor got here he was in Jason's face insisting repeatedly that, among many other things, Jason didn't have enough years of experience to see that a wax ring couldn't possibly be the problem and itemizing exactly how a failed or improperly installed wax ring would actually fail and that this leak wasn't on him! Jason showed him how with each flush of the toilet, water was coming down the front of the drain pipe. I had never seen a contractor run from responsibility so loudly. More interestingly, the tile contractor had precious little to say to me except to tell me "You brought this on yourself." I still haven't figured that one out. Jason was one cool plumber. Not once did he raise his voice. Not once was he disrespectful to the tile contractor. Not once did he argue. He was calm and PROFESSIONAL through the entire ordeal. Not only that, more importantly, he stood up for me as his customer when I was too exhausted and overwhelmed to stand up for myself. The tile contractor barely took the time to breathe while Jason did all the work. He berated Jason and his efforts constantly during the 15 minutes that it took him to pull the toilet, show that the wax seal had connected/seated to the toilet in only one small area and that multiple wax rings were needed to form a seal due to the height of the tile, the underlayment and the flange placement. Jason pointed out to him exactly what was wrong and why. Jason showed him how you could see light from the garage when the toilet was pulled. It didn't matter how calmly Jason explained the obvious, my tile contractor was not going to take any responsibility for his installer's accidental poor job. When the toilet was back in place Jason did something I will never forget. In front of the tile contractor who was still carrying on about how my (never leaked in 40 years) flange was defective and how this wasn't on him, Jason said to me, "I know that the flange is at an angle but its fine. Your toilet just needs three wax rings to seal properly." And then he just smiled at me and said, "In fact, if this repair fails, its on me. If it leaks now I will come back out here at no charge and put in a flange extension and reseat the toilet. If it fails, its on me. You don't have to worry about it now. Its on me now." You had to see the look on the tile contractor's face. Not once had Jason been condescending, argumentative, disrespectful or unkind. Jason had no evil looks or vicious retorts. Not once did he challenge my blowhard tile contractor beyond stating the facts. In the end he won an argument that he never participated in by being a skilled, experienced plumber and a wonderful human being. I was quite happy to pay the bill from Johnson HVAC & Plumbing. And, no, my toilet doesn't leak anymore. ...but I do need a new tile contractor:>)
Description of Work: We discovered water leaking from the top floor of our home down to the concrete floor in our garage. We did not know the source. We called Johnson Heating & Cooling & Plumbing to find and repair this leak. The toilet wax ring was not installed correctly by my tile contractor. Water was running down the pipe and in the wall.

Dereck Kiester arrived on time and ready to go...listening carefully to my sad tale of water. He did a thorough inspection. No water damage was found. He checked my electronic air cleaner and cleaned it while he had it out. If you are looking for an honest company with good people who will do the job right I can't recommend them highly enough. Why? The ceiling in the laundry room is down. Some drywall has been removed. Some drywall still has to come down. What remains is water stained. Part of the ceiling gave way right at the furnace duct work. We thought for certain that our furnace was damaged. Johnson walked into a mess. I had two other contractors there at the same time. Johnson could have easily padded their bill with phony repairs and unnecessary cleanings but they handed me a bill for $19.95. Johnson Heating & Cooling has a "club" with a yearly fee that provides discounts and some other benefits. I joined their club last year so my charge today for the inspection was only $19.95. Even without my club membership I would still only owe the regular trip charge. I have complete confidence that my furnace is fine and that confidence is truly priceless. Ok, $19.95.

Install new furnace and air condition - exemplary service. No need to shop around - dependable, good company, clean, no mess.

Estimate specified the size for A/C unit. But when second person came to do the site inspection, he noticed the unit was not the same size as I had. The order was updated and the correct size was installed at no additional cost. I also was given 2 options for outside venting for the high effeciency furnace - through the roof or through the attic to a side wall. They explained both options so I could make an informed decision. They gave me an overview of how to operate the programmable thermostat. They arrived on time and finished within their estimated time frame. A month after the installation the A/C unit stopped working on a Saturday. They came out within 2 hours and found that a major part that controls the contacts was burned out. Part was replaced and everything has been working OK since then.
Description of Work: Company replaced old furnace and A/C units with high efficiency units and hauled away the old units.

First, the good news. The actual installation and labor aspect of our experience was excellent. The technician who made the original visit was able to determine the problem in a short amount of time. The installers who came out to replace the old system and install the new one worked very efficiently. They installed everything with the main system and thermostat and explained everything very thoroughly. We were told they would be here all day but they were finished in about five hours. During the installation, the owner, Ron, even paid us a visit and asked a few questions and seemed very eager to help in any way possible. Now, the bad news. Our salesman, Brian, seemed slightly unorganized. I'm not sure if that's the word I'm looking for. On the day he was to come out to give us an estimate, one of the women in the office called to tell us he was actually running early and was on his way. He, himself, also called and said he would be at our house within 25 minutes. About an hour later, and approximately ten minutes later than his original appt time, he showed up with no apologies or an explanation of the reason behind his going from running very early to being late. He was then a bit hurried because we also had someone from another HVAC company showing up after him. We thought we had allowed plenty of time for his estimate and sales pitch but we did not take into account that he would be late. He then checked out our system, gave us an estimate, and everything seemed fine. Our old system had a humidifier on it but he did not include a humidifier in his estimate. Our old system also had a UV light on it and he did not ask whether or not we wanted it transferred to the new system. It took having the installer who came out to take measurements to mention and ask whether or not we wanted a humidifier on the new system and whether or not we wanted to keep our UV light. I told the installer that we would probably want a humidifier and he said Brian would give me a call. Brian called me the next day to confirm that we wanted a humidifier and I verified that we did. Overlooking the humidifier on the new system made our original estimate off by $400. All of that happened on the Friday before the Monday of the install. Over the weekend before our install, we realized that Brian, nor anyone with the company, had given us a time at which to expect the installers to show up. On the Monday morning of the install, by 9am the installers had not shown up so I called Brian and left a voicemail on his phone telling him who I was and that I wanted to confirm that we were still on for install. If so, could he please call me and let me know when I should expect the installers to arrive. He called about a half hour later and seemed confused as to who I even was. He even asked, "I'm sorry, who am I talking to?" All I could think was my husband and I just spent close to $9000 with the company he works for and he didn't even know who I am??? After clarifying who I was and the purpose of my call (which, again, I left such information in a voicemail to him), Brian said the installers had just gotten out of a safety meeting and would be at my house any minute. The showed up about fifteen minutes later. Overall, considering the service performed by and the professionalism of the technicians and installers of Johnson, I would say this is a great company and we will definitely use them for any maintenance and upkeep of our system. As far as salespeople go, I would not recommend going with Brian Biehn. I feel bad even saying that but I honestly think the company must have better sales people representing them other than him or they would not have stayed in business as long as they have.
Description of Work: We first had Johnson out to diagnose our exact problem. Our central air conditioning was not cooling our house. A technician came out and determined the problem to be that our compressor was bad. Considering our heating/cooling unit was over thirty years old, we knew we would have to replace it at some point in the near future. Putting a new compressor on such an old system did not make sense so we went with purchasing a whole new system.

They come out and check out the system every spring and fall; doing upkeep and maintenance.
Description of Work: We have used them for probably 40 years. Recently, in the past 3 years they installed a new heating and air system. We have a service agreement with them.

The crew showed up on time. They were very professional but personable. They acted as if they were brothers for the installation. The salesman, Brian, was very professional, answering all my questions. The overall experience was very good. Questions after installation have been answered freely.

The installers arrived on time, were friendly and professional, and stayed late in order to complete the installation. After three months, the system appears to be performing as efficiently as described. I am pleased with my purchase and would use Johnson Heating and Cooling again in the future.
