I haven't price shopped, so I'm not sure how they compare. At our request, they always call ahead so we can remove toys from the yard before they treat.

Robert continually educates his clients on possible lawn problems and solutions. They are very responsive if I have questions. I thought about letting them go several years back to cut costs, but they called me personally and offered to work out a plan of lawn maintenance that was within my budget. I trust them and highly recommend them.

+ -1 moreI found the people at Green Scene to be very informative, professional and easy to work with. We moved into our home 2 years ago Previous to that our home had sat vacant for 3 years with no one taking care of the yard. It was in pretty bad shape with lots of weeds when we moved in. I tried for 2 years to get the lawn back into shape. I finally called Green Scene. They came out and did an detailed analysis of our yard and then gave me a "menu" of all the services they could provide for our grass with the top 3 most important highlighted. You then go down and choose which ones you want them to do based on your budget. Pam was always very helpful answering all my questions and I never felt pressured to have more services performed than I could afford. I asked that they place the flag and bill at the back door instead of front and they have alsways done so.
Description of Work: They performed a detailed analysis of our lawn. They have fertilized our lawn, treated it for weeds and performed a chemical de-thatching process.

+ -1 moreThey sent a representative out who took a soil sample and then sent me a written evaluation of my lawn's health and provided me with a treatment program. They also followed up with a phone call to answer any questions that I may have had. I've had only one treatment, thus far which cost $40, but whatever they did improved the color of the lawn and its general appearance substantially.
Description of Work: I asked them to evaluate the health of my lawn and come up with a treatment program to improve its appearance, and especially to control a weed problem that I was having. I had been using Scott's 4 step program for several years, but was unsatisfied with the results.

I would definitely recommend them, they are a little more expensive than some I have hired, but I feel like I have received my money's worth.

+ -1 moreLawn color and thickness has improved significantly over the past year. They are a bit more expensive than other firms in the area but are very proactive in dealing with issues and don't recommend programs that aren't necessary. On the last service call they noted red thread was present, but when I called the office they indicated fertilization may take care of the problem so did not recommend paying for additional treatment at this time. I appreciated their honesty and integrity. I also noted that after applying dry fertilizer the technician used a leaf blower to removed granules from all concrete and asphalt surfaces, a nice added touch which many other firms don't bother with.
Description of Work: Lawn fertilization, root stimulation and weed control - part of a prepaid annual program.

+ -1 moreAfter being very unhappy with a nationally-franchised lawn maintenance service a couple of years ago, I selected Green-Scene from Angie's List and have had a good experience so far. Robert, the owner, took the time to talk with me in detail about the various treatments they offer. I've set up an intensive program this year for my lawn, which had gotten very weedy and looked awful. Green-Scene has done about 1/4 of the planned treatments so far, and I've been very happy with how quickly the lawn has improved. Had one small miscommunication about scheduling of treatments (my lawn gets mowed on Fridays, so had asked for no treatments around that time), but that's been resolved and I've been pleased with the helpfulness of everyone I've talked to at the company. Will see how the rest of the year goes, but feeling very optimistic that I've found my permanent lawn care service!

+ -1 moreMy lawn looks terrible. We've used them for two summers, and as I said, I purchase every single thing they tell me I need. I also follow their instructions to a "T" on how and when to mow and water. The lawn has gotten so bad that I finally called and requested an appointment to meet with one of their technicians. I told Pam twice during the same conversation that I wanted an appointment so I could discuss all of my concerns. I said very clearly that I did not want someone to come and look at my lawn when I wasn't there. She told me she'd have someone contact me. Two or three days later, someone showed up while I was gone and left a note saying they'd looked at the lawn and to call the office. I did call that very same day, first letting them know how very unhappy I was that they'd come out without an appointment. Then I told the woman (not Pam) to have the tech call me. That was about two weeks ago and no one has ever called back. I called a day or so ago and fired them.
Description of Work: We hired them last summer to fertilize and treat our lawn. We use their full range of services - everything they have recommend, I've purchased from them. The lawn was not in great shape to start with - now its even worse.

+ -1 moreThey applied the fertilizer on the day they said they would be out. After a couple of days we noticed some variation in the grass. They came back out the next day after I called and agreed to reapply the fertilizer. I have a new lawn with a straw mat underneath so I think this has some effect on the initial treatment. They have always been very professional and courteous on the phone. So far, I am very pleased with this company and would definitely recommend it to others. I am looking forward to a great lawn from Green Scene!!!!

+ -1 moreI know companies like this get very busy in the spring time, which makes it harder to answer phones & manage their businesses. We got off to bad start when I was told they would call that afternoon, or the next day; but did not do so. The "simple fix" here might be to change that time line to a more realistic time frame? If busy, say so? Therefore, it may be 3 days? With all of that said, I will use this company again, without any further hesitation.
Description of Work: On 4/17/07 I called Green Scene at (866) 238-4408 at 11:01 AM, the call was 2 minutes and 52 seconds long; Pam Stalets told me they will do an estimate & call back this afternoon, tomorrow at the latest. They did not call either day. On 4/19/07 I again called Green Scene at 1:48 PM; the call was 1 minute 20 seconds long; I got an answering machine so I left a message. On 4/19/07 Green Scene called me at 2:20 PM; the call was 2 minutes 20 seconds long; the representative said they got busy but would have estimate by tomorrow. On 4/21/05 I received the estimate in the mail; great estimate. Very detailed, included PH. On 4/23/07 I called Green Scene at (317) 226-8889 at 2:39 PM; the call was 6 minutes 52 seconds long; Conversation about estimate I got in mail. Ordered "basic service" (4 treatments) weed & feed; he said they would start within the next 5 days. On 4/24/07 first application to yard. On 4/25/07 weeds dying nicely! On 4/30/07 yard greening up nicely, need more rain though.
