Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I found about 1/4 inch of water in my basement though the dehumidifier was still running (power was still up). It looked like the pump simply failed. A call to Roto-Rooter and I had a plumber here within two hours (I live in the country). He poked around and noted the pump was plugged into a device that was supposed to warn of malfunctions and sound an alarm. Since the pump had malfunctioned and there was no alarm, that device was useless. When the plumber plugged the sump pump directly into house power (bypassing that device), the pump restarted and the water receded. The plumber didn't want to do anything further as he would have to charge more than the service call and clearly everything was working fine. It seems that the previous plumber who replaced my pump a few years ago and added that malfunction detection system didn't tell me that the device has a 9 volt back-up battery and when that battery dies, it disconnects house power and creates the very malfunction it was supposed to prevent. Kudos to Roto-Rooter for sorting that out quickly and not turning into a more expensive event.

the service man, james, put a camera down the drain and then cleaned out the trawith an auger. there were a lot of tree roots. so he suggested that we he put some foam down the drain to clean out the rest of the roots that he couldn't clean. we were very impressed with his professionalism and the way he explained everything thoroughly so we could understand .

It went well. The technician arrived soon after I called. He attempted to auger the pipe but didn't have much luck. Because of the length of the pipe, he ran a camera from the other end and determined where the blockage was occurring and then was able to clear it.

John did a great job working with us to fix a very old leaky pipe in our basement. He figured out a cost-effective, safe solution to our problem. He was very professional and great to work with.

2 company representatives arrived on time and gave me an estimate to augur the line. Reasonable estimate so they tried to get the water flowing. They cleared out lots of roots and very slowly the tile started to drain. They recommended a pressurized water clearing which was another $350. I declined mainly because they could not figure out where the augur was going as it never appeared at the opposite end of the line. I was concerned that it might connect to my or my neighbor's basement tiles and end up flooding our homes. Both workers were very nice and also gave me a senior discount which I appreciated. The company emailed and called me after performing the service to see if I was satisfied.

The serviceman provided a quote before any work was done. After I approved the repair he went to get the new pump and installed it. He was very professional and courteous. We would use Roto-Rooter again.

Our sump pump began malfunctioning overnight and it was discovered around 3am. The pump did not have any water to drain and it appeared to be running constantly. The pump was making a loud vibrating noise. After searching through Angie's list we found Roto Rooter was available 24hrs. We contacted them and left our information with someone to have a tech call us back. Within 15-20 min the tech called us. The tech attempted to trouble shoot the issue over the phone and realized the pump needed to be replaced. He set up a time to come to our house at 7:30. The tech arrived right on time. He was very professional as well as personable! He promptly replaced the pump and noticed our back-up battery was no longer functioning properly as well. The tech described what they could replace it with and said a proposal would be written up and e-mailed to us. Since the service was today, we are awaiting the proposal. The new pump is working so far!

Dax was fantastic! Quick, efficient and tidy. He offered me great advice on how to prevent the problem in the future.

Plumber (Rob) arrived on time, after we received a courtesy call that he was on his way. We had a basement floor drain that wouldn't drain. Water was backed up in drain. Rob was able to determine the clogged drain was due to roots in sewer line. He augured the line several times to remove heavy roots. We appreciate the persisitent hard work it took to completely open the line. Drain is now unclogged; water no longer backs up in basement. Plumber was knowledgable, competent, professional, and very hard-working. We felt the price was quite reasonable.

Awesome. Rob, from roto rooter new just what to do, was very pleasant, friendly, professional, all that you could hope for. Was able to schedule an appt. within 2 hours of the time we called in. Took 1 1/2 hours to accomplish job I wouldn't have wanted to do, and was still cheerful, polite, etc. Told him the problem, he looked in the crawlspace at where the the drain for the open loop geothermal was, went out to the pond took the cap off the pipe going into the pond at the waters edge, went to work on it with his equipment and it seemed like hardly any time went by and Rob had it fixed and draining like brand new.Some rusty water had turned into a putty like substance and clogged the line. We are so appreciative. Checked with other places first, and despite what you may have heard the times we've used them, their prices were equal to or lower than the others. And fast service to boot! So happy we used them, and will continue to as the need arises.

Every thing went just fine until it came time to remove the water heater. Apparently the tank did not completely empty. The plumber working by himself removed it from the garage to the drive way to finish emptying. This allowed rust to drain out on my concrete drive way. He made no effort to clean up the mess. Had he rolled the tank onto the grass the rusty water would not hurt the grass, but it sure did a job on my concrete. He had no cleaners with him to get rid of the stains, or did he call for help to remove the heater to the outside for final draining. Consequently I had to purchase a bottle of CDL and with considerable effort, removed most of the stains from the concrete. While I am happy with his general installation I did not bargain for a badly stained drive way and feel a considerate plumber would have made an effort to per-clued it happening or clean up the mess he created.

Went well, unclogged drain. we called at about 9 am and someone was here to help us by noon!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!!

Crew arrived at scheduled time. Found problem with their specialized tools narrowing the dig down to a precise location. Commenced digging, uncovered suspect line, busted it open to verify the clog. Removed 10' length as agreed to. Opened remaining line with high pressure water in both directions. Scoped line with camera, saw remaining roots, went back in with high pressure water until the camera showed no evidence of roots and more importantly that I was happy the line was cleared. After inspection by the city, covered with stone and back filled with soil. Job took less time than expected and final cost was reduced.

It went well. Fellow worked hard. The silicone could have been done a little better but I know how hard that is to do. I have used them for years and will continue to do so.

Toilet flushes properly now

Clinician was able to come earlier than scheduled which worked out great. He was efficient and quick. He replaced the old bathroom facet with new I had purchased and fixed the leak underneath the sink. . He had to leave in order to get new lines for the bathroom sink, he returned quickly. .I have been a customer of Roto Rooter for several years and have always been pleased with the services. From the first call until the plumbing problem is fixed. I was a little disappointed this time when I looked over the bill, it was not itemized as they have been in the past. However, the service was efficient and the clinician was pleasant and professional.

Naturally it happened on a weekend! Called Roto-Rooter after two other plumbers failed to respond or declined to do work. their technician arrived within two hours of my call. Was very professional in his appearance and actions. He had to leave to get the needed pump as he had stopped after completing another job. Returned within the time he said, and then completed the removal and reinstallation very efficiently. This was a very stinky job but he handled it very well and kept the area clean by using a mat and a bag and a a box to remove the pump. This was important because sump was in a utility room within a carpeted basement. He estimated the cost prior to starting and came in more than $100 below estimate so I was pleased. Most of the cost was the pump, but also labor was higher because of weekend. Yes, I recommend Roto-Rooter highly based upon how well and timely this wan handled.

The provided did exactly what we expected. He called to confirm the time he would arrive, and had all the equipment to do the job right. He also gave us recommendations about how to maintain the line in the future. He cleaned up completely when the work was done.

arrived on time. snaked the toilet b/c it was draining improperly. (history: this was a brand new toilet, installed 4/2013 & sewer-line had been checked/snaked 4/2013, so i couldn't understand why the new toilet was draining slowly.) Was told i had a "soft" clog. The only thing ever flushed is toilet paper and bodily fluids. (Not trying to be graphic, but the service technician from Roto rooter kept insisting that "something" had been placed down the toilet that wasn't appropriate to be flushed down a commode.) 3 weeks later, the same thing happened! Toilet draining slow again. This time i figured it out. I have lived in my house for 8 years. the replaced toilet was a 5+ gallon flush. the new toilet was a 1.7 gallon flush. Last winter was extremely cold. With the new toilet & only one resident in the home, when the weather was super cold and stayed that way for several days, i now need to leave the water run (just a pencil line of cold water running in the kitchen, which is on the direct sewer line as this toilet sewer line) & this keeps the pipes open and the toilet functioning properly. Had i not been raised in the country, where the pipes had a tendency to freeze every winter, i might not have figured this out on my own. Apparently with the new water saving toilet, not enough water gets sent down the sewer line. I did this "let the water run trick" through all of the repeatedly frigid winter days of 2014 and never had another issue with another "soft clog". But seriously? How many times was i to have had Roto Rooter out, had i not remembered letting the water run from childhood? And when we had to let the water run back when i was a child, it was so the pipes didn't freeze. Not so the toilet would flush properly. I now live in the city and an on city sewer and city water. I even asked a neighbor with a low water flush toilet if she had to leave the water running this past super cold winter and i was told "no", she did not, but both our toilets use the same 1.7 gallons of water to flush. i would definitely call on Roto Rooter again, but i am confused as to my they didn't realize it was ice and slush causing the slow draining toilet. I explained the toilet was new and the sewer line had also been checked 6 months prior w/o incident. I live alone, I don't flush inappropriate items, not even items claiming to be "flushable tp wipes"...as i also grew up in a country home with a septic tank & learned only TP and body fluids are to be flushed. Also, no small children around to have slipped a small toy down there either. My only conclusion is that if i hadn't figured out how to remedy the situation, i guess I'd have had to have paid for a camera to be sent down by RR to see what was causing the clog? I guess it could have been an honest mistake. I don't think the technician was trying to scam me. Just baffling I figured this out the next time it happened (as the weather was bitter cold like the first time RR made the service call). I did explain everything I've stated here to the technician. But, i guess they see so many scenarios? Are all their technicians licensed plumbers? idk.

From the phone call inquiring about prices to the person installing it, went well. Very nice and professional. We will use them again. It took less than 48 hours from the time we called until the installation was completed. The person installing the water heater took the time to educated me on the features of the heater.

Person arrived at scheduled time, used shoe covers and cloths to avoid damage to cabinets and floor. A power machine was inserted into the sewer and removed or loosened the material blockage. After flushing, equipment was removed, area wiped clean, and instruction given relative to avoiding recurrence. Employee was friendly , knowledgeable and efficient.

I called roto rooter and they advised the switch on my sump pump failed. I went ahead and had them replace the whole pump as it was an older unit. They completed the job quickly and it works great.
