First Friend K-9 Training

We were also able to pay for private in kennel trainings for our dog to prepare him before training classes started and First Friends was great. He was already showing less anxiety around other dogs after just a couple training sessions. The staff and trainers are all very nice and great with the animals. They are very patient during training and demonstrated the lessons multiple times over and over as needed. Even the most stubborn dogs are doing great and behaving nicely in class. We have one final class/graduation and are very pleased with the results over the past 7 weeks. Every week the trainers went over many key things the dog should learn and we used in class time to practice what was learned from the prior week. Each week requires practice homework with the dog regularly each day multiple times a day. The practice paid off because our dog was doing better each week for training and continued getting better and better. We now know the appropriate commands (vocal and hand signals) to give when we want a certain behavior or when we need to stop a behavior. I highly recommend First Friends.

His method were really good. It's all positive reinforcement, very structured. He's really encouraging.

We have advanced training for our dog for the whole year and that include weekly sessions plus Saturdays.

The facilities are good and we always bring our dog for training. They have friendly staff.

Walk in; no appointment. Took my dog right away. Did a great job without traumatizing the dog at all (and my dog hates having her nails trimmed!). No issues at all.

They were very nice, a little chaotic when checking in, but then I found that while they said they take care of small dogs, from what I saw, 95 percent of the dogs there were very large dogs, German Shepards, a Great Dane. Kennels were outside and while there was cover from the elements, it still was cold. My little dog looked terrified. She only stayed one night, I made other plans for her at last minute. They were very nice and refunded my money, but my dog came back with Kennel Cough.

Class was hectic and exhausting for both me and my puppy, but was extremely informative. The class was well staffed so everyone had some personal attention to solve puppy behaviors on the spot. In the end, my puppy learned much more than I expected based on the first class experience. Advice to future customers, keep going to class as it gets better with exposure for both you and your puppy.

I think I told you in the above box. IT WENT fantastic Bruce did a terrific job and everything that he promised to do he did. I can't explain to you how happy we are with K9 First Bruce has a wonderful staff the place is extremely clean they're very professional and they do a terrific job on training all dogs small and large. If he says he's going to do something he does it and is not satisfied until the dog is trained.

I was a little thrown off by his military approach, but after getting to know Bruce and his training techniques, I really like seeing the results.

Bruce and the staff at First Friends K-9 are an amazing group of people. They trained our dogs (and us) on how to behave and listen to commands. They offered professional advice at no cost, and one-on-one training for a very reasonable fee for specific issues we were having. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for behavior training anywhere around Indianapolis, not just Noblesville. We will take all of our pets to First Friends in the future.

FFK9 provides an easy-going and fun atmosphere for continuing training of both me and my dog. Great socialization and training reinforcement opportunity. Class meets once a week. Recommend highly to any dog owner.

I and my 10 month old German Shepherd (Renne) enrolled in the novice dog obedience class. It was more than I expected. I learned so much about dog training and Renne loved going to classes. Yes, it was intense and moved very quickly. My wife noticed an improvement in our dog's behavior after the second week. She had become more calm and responsive to obedience commands. The training sessions are quite physical for dogs and handlers. I have some physical limitations and Bruce and his staff were very patient and accomodating. I intend to continue in the advanced class in a couple of weeks. In short, if you are contemplating signing up for training be prepared to work hard, but also be prepared for some terrific instruction and results with your dog. Just like kids, dogs are happiest knowing what is expected of them and they thrive on pleasing us with their good behavior.

We have been clients of First Friend for 16 years. The original owner was the teacher for our first two dogs, and for the last several years we have worked with Bruce. The staff always shows concern for the issues we may be having with our dogs and tries very hard to help find workable and permanent solutions. We also like that Bruce tries to help dogs in need find new homes , ( on occasion).

I read many mixed reviews about Mr. McNabb prior to going through the class. A family member strongly recommended him, so we hesitantly tried his class. I never had any problem with him or his way of doing things. Ultimately, I think all anyone wants from this service is a well-trained dog. If you do your homework and attend classes, you will get a great end product in your pet. When I hire a provider, I am not looking for a friend or wanting some sort of relationship with that provider. I want that provider to do a good job in his/her field of expertise. I think some people are put off with Mr. McNabb because they think he is too "military" in his teaching. I found his classes to be very straight forward from a man who is very knowledgeable about dogs and dog behavior, and he is very methodical about his teaching. I also found him to have a sense of humor and a real love for dogs. Bottom line: you get a lot of bang for the buck.

Bruce, Kyle and Bryce are wonderful. I have (2) rescue dogs and did back to back classes on Thurs evening. They were very patient with me and my dogs. There was always plenty of staff available during class to monitor progress and help train me to properly handle my dogs. I appreciated that training variations were taught - since my dogs are different personalities they responded more favorably. It is amazing what can be accomplished in 8-weeks - Bruce and his staff are very passionate about creating happy homes for dogs and their owners.

There were 6 classes for puppy training. Bruce, the owner & trainer was effective. We have used them before. The classes were good for our puppy. Some of the staff were not as knowledgeable as others.

Paul the dog trainer is very skilled with the dogs, very patient, and a very good communicator. He taught myself + my dog an awful lot! I plan on taking another class!

This is the second time I have used the services of First Friends K-9. Both experiences were fantastic. With the direction of Bruce and his team, my family have enjoyed the benefits of two well trained and behaved dogs. Our dogs Lilly and Harley are a part of our family and have proven to be amazing animals. They attract the attention of others, some with their own dogs that are baffled by our success. The First Friends Family never forgets that the dogs they help train are loved and are to be treated with great care. It is very obvious that they exercise a social responsibility to animals by promoting good habits for their very care. If you are able to commit to the dog you have, you will have not only a great time but also end up with a life long friend. Toss out what you think you know about training or treatment of a dog. Bruce MeNable and his team amazing! They have patiently worked with out 7-month old chocolate lab, Bo, and our 9 year old daughter, Kaci. We have a well-trained pup and a very skilled junior handler.

Bruce and his staff are experts at training you and your dog to be the best team you can be. They understand what the dog is capable of at each stage of development and Bruce is particularly great at communicating with the human part of the team to maximize our ability to be good handlers. They all obviously love dogs and they believe fervently that creating good dog/owner relationships will avoid the tragedy of failed owners and disposed dogs.

I love this class, it's hard but you get results. This is my 2nd dog I have takent there. Won't go any place else.

Staff was very thorough an helpful throughout the training course. Methods of training definitely work. I will continue to use them for any training for my dog. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

The training class for our puppy went very well. It was a bit intimidating at first as the trainers have such a good working knowledge of what they do. I believe they could teach a dog with NO training how to respond to the techniques they use. Bruce and his staff are very friendly and helpful. I would definately recommend First Friends to my family and friends.
