First Friend K-9 Training

My feisty 9 month old golden doodle and I graduated from Novice Class tonight. It may sound weird, but the time I spent in class and practicing with Margo gave me confidence and filled my soul. I can’t wait to start Advanced and Agility classes! Bruce and his staff care about every dog and handler that walk through their doors. They will literally hold your hand and support you through this journey. I cannot sing enough praises of Bruce, his staff, and First Friends!

Bad I couldn't believe the dog was even trained. Tried to contact owner of school but he has never called me back. I guess he doesn't care because he got his money.

We are happy with the results. After working with Bruce twice before we actually drove 1600 miles because we trust him and his trainers. She stayed there for 2 weeks and it was hard as we missed her so much. Could not have done that with any other place. Haley was her trainer and Nika loved her. It was evident from our visit and from observing her in an outside session.

I would totally recommend! You will learn so much!

I had fantastic experience here in puppy Kindergarten with my dog, Millie. We have registered her for Novice class to continue. From the first orientation class, I was armed with methods to correct nipping, chasing, barking, jumping and many more undesirable puppy behaviors. By the end of the class I felt confident and knowledgeable enough to know that I now had the tools to have a well mannered dog. I have seen reviews from people saying that his methods are outdated or cruel but this is completely false. He is obviously a very caring and loving dog owner. He shows affection to his dogs as well as all the dogs in his class. He encourages positive reinforcement with rewarding the dogs with treats, praise and physical affection. He offers correction for unwanted behaviors in an effective but gentle manner. These corrective measures were actually reiterated almost verbatim by my veterinarian. Bruce and his staff are obviously experts in this field and have years of experience knowing what works and what doesn’t. Trust him. Thank you.

Training is thorough, and instructors are attentive to the issues at hand. Instructors are patient but direct in their directions. Much of the training involves training the owner as much as it does training the dog. Learning to provide the correct instruction at the correct time with consistency is emphasized.

All of the staff was great with our dog. He spent two weeks in in-kennel training and we have seen great improvement in his behavior and temperament.

Great! Staff really knew their stuff, were great with the dogs, nice and large facility.

This is the third.time I have attended obedience with one of our dogs. Very pleased!

Excellent, best ever - hands on training provided in these classes.

I just finished the novice training program with Bruce and his team and wanted to share how happy we are with the results. It's the second dog I have trained with Bruce's support. My husband, puppy and I all learned so much in just eight weeks! Since she has learned so many positive/appropriate behaviors, we feel comfortable taking her with us wherever dogs are permitted. I have known the folks at First Friends for over twelve years and have been pleased with their boarding, grooming and training services. Bruce and his crew are patient, knowledgeable and kind. I highly recommend their services.

Training is great! Bruce and entire staff set high expectations for the dog owners in their classes, but do this to minimize the chances of owners deciding to give their dogs up due to behavior issues. They clearly love the dogs they work with, and are very reassuring. Classes are challenging, but fun and rewarding. We have also used their doggie daycare a few times. The drop off and pick up process is quick and easy, and our puppy still gets excited when we drop her off, so she must have fun while she is there!

It went very well! I highly recommend them they love all the dogs they work with!

My experience was good. I really like them. I just started school so I couldn't afford to keep putting her through classes. They are definitely an A.

It is $40 for a huge bag of food. They are one of the only places that carry this premium edge dog food unless you order it. Bruce McNabb is an awesome dog trainer. That is why we went there originally, he trained our puppy. Their facilities are very nice. My interaction with them is good. They are very nice and very helpful. I don't really thing there is anything they can improve on. It is funny watching Bruce with the dogs because he can make them do anything. All the other people have been struggling to get our dog to follow instructions. He just makes it look simple.

It was a pretty good deal. If you went and signed up for the full year, it was only $100 more. So, it was a pretty good deal for the rest of the year if you had done the novice class. I liked the continued training and I liked the results.

They are close to home. They are just very accommodating. The staff is very friendly. We're very fond of them.

It went very well! This is my 3rd dog and we decided to formally train this dog so we could do more activities with him outside of the home. The class was every Saturday for 6 weeks for 90 minutes. Bruce McNabb is the trainer and I could tell that he was very experienced and knowledgeable. There was a lot of information to cover and I am still using his book to continue my training with my puppy. If my continued training doesn't produce the result I want, I will definitely sign up for his novice class in January. You definitely have to do your homework and I will admit I didn't do enough of it during the training period. That is all on me. I would highly recommend this class if you have a puppy.

We have trained three Boston Terriers at First Friend. All are now so much better behaved. Bruce does a great job of training us to train our dogs. He makes sure to add humor and laughs along the way. I'm also thankful that they offer an advanced class so your dog can continue to grow and maintain his training. There is a real family atmosphere to this place and they have nice social gatherings too.

Trainer excellent. Dog owners not so good. Once a week will not train a dog. Requires owners to spend 45 minutes a day training, and found hard to relate class to real life. Personal training would work best, but for the price, owners know what is expected of them.

This is the second day we have taken to First Friends for puppy classes. They are wonderful to work with! Patient with the dogs & the humans. :)

They are dog trainers and have kennels. They are great. We buy all the food and stuff there. They’re wonderful. They do great training. They have good products. They are really friendly. They love the animals. That’s why we do business with them. It’s a great place for dog training for both puppies and adults and agility. It’s where you would want to go.

Terrible. I do not recommend this place. I had to call 3 times and nobody never called me back. I was looking for training recommendations to address my rescue's separation anxiety. The recommendation provided was a bark/shock collar. Never once I was asked to bring my dog for an assessment to determine his needs and when I questioned the recommendation I was told I could also use a spray bottle. Needless to say I won't be taking my dog to First Friend K9 they are obviously not professionals interested in the well being of the dogs.

Our dog responded very very well to the training and we were very happy with the service provided. Bruce is a great trainer and his team is very helpful. We missed one class and they even called to see if we had any questions or wanted to stop by to see what we missed. Awesome!
