Devries Custom Painting

Joshua came out to measure the deck and advise me on the different color options and stain types. He is very knowledgeable and professional. He came out with his crew and stained the deck when he said he would. He also replaced 2 boards on the deck that were damaged. This is the 2nd time that I have the deck re-stained, and Joshua did a much better job than the company that I hired for the first stain 3 years ago. Joshua has a great service attitude, and pays attention to detail. I plan to use him again on our next project.

Joshua made sure we all had the same understanding of what he would do for us and what it would cost. Any changes to our agreement were first approved by us. His crew caulked, scraped and painted very professionally. We spent a fair amount of time consulting about color schemes. He painted several pieces of our trim with colors he thought might be appropriate. Much better than looking at paint chips. We're happy with the quality of his work and his clear desire to make sure we were completely satisfied.

This is our 3rd time to hire Joshua and his team. As usual, they exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail, the flexibility and willingness to do whatever is needed to make sure we are happy with his work, is unlike anything I have experienced. During the project, Joshua was always accessible to me if I had any questions. At the end of the day, their team cleaned up so well, that you could hardly tell anyone had been there that day. For as meticulous and careful and thorough as they are, I don't understand how they can get the work done so quickly. Joshua knew that I had out of town company coming in the next day after they had completed the work, so he offered to send a professional cleaner to our house (at no extra cost to me!). My house has never been that clean!! From beginning to end, Joshua and his team are incredible. I can not say enough positive things!!

Fantastic!!! Joshua has done other jobs for me and will be doing another job later in the summer. He was on site each day and arrived when he said he would. When he came to give me the estimate, he explained everything to me and how he arrived at the charges. When the paint color I chose didn't look like I thought it would---he worked with me to get the right shade. I found him to be very good at offering suggestions based on his experience---but always left the final decision up to me. He was very professional as was his crew. In terms of the quality of work---I couldn't be happier! The walls and ceilings look wonderful and I can't wait to have him do the work on the rest of the house. He was my point of contact from beginning to end and I appreciate that. He knows how to provide great customer service---and he succeeds! I give him the highest recommendation!

Joshua has preformed work in our home on several occasions. Joshua and his crew painted our kitchen and the interior door needed a little TLC so Joshua came out and sanded, primed and painted the door. He made sure that it was perfect and it is! He is always considerate of our time and of our home and he goes above and beyond to make his client happy. He and his staff are very professional and their work is superb.

I asked if he thought we could get in by early May & he said no.I was ok w that since that would have been wk 5. I called monday of week 6 to check in. It was a rainy week (really only 1 of first bad weather wks we had since I supposedly got on schedule). Josh said the weather was putting them behind & he would call me back when he had his calendar. I called Saturday as I never received a call back & was starting to get nervous. Josh said he couldn't give me a date bc of weather. I asked if he could be done by 6/7 & he said no. At this point I felt I was getting the run around. June 7 was 10 wks after he told me 4-5! I asked if he put someone in front of us, he didn't answer. He told me I was pressuring him & I should find someone else. I went w my 2nd choice but the clock starts over & the work won't be done until AFTER both parties. Sux. Bottom line, they appear to do good work, but are very disorganized and unprofessional, if u want/need any sort of timeline FIND SOMEONE ELSE!

From start to finish we were very pleased with the attention Joshua and his crew gave to painting and repairing the woodwork on the exterior of our home. His estimate detailed all the steps he would take to paint and refurbish our house and the cost that would be incurred, letting us know upfront that the cost for wood replacement would be extra and price would be given before work began. To make sure we were please with the color choices, a sample was painted for us to see. This was a great help and helped us choose the paint color that looked best with the exterior brick. Joshua touched base with us frequently during the process and worked around our schedules. Not only that, but the work was completed in a timely manner and Joshua guarantees the quality of his workmanship. After work was completed, workers made sure everything was clean and tidy. Our home looks beautiful and we feel that with the high quality work, the exterior paint job will last a number of years!

Joshua is very knowledgeable about the nuances of painting. His paint job looks great, very clean lines. We would definitely use him again.

Joshua the owner, was great to work with from beginning to end. We are putting our home up for sale soon and he was very accommodating, time wise in selling, for making sure everything was done right. The past winter season was very harsh on some of the outside areas around the house and his team cleaned, spray washed and hand painted everything to look very clean and pristine. His painting team hand scraped all the rough edges thoroughly and hand painted everything else I asked to be done. The front door needed to be redone badly because it faces the west sun in the afternoon. So they sanded, striped and primed the door very well before painting it and Joshua helped me pick out a beautiful bronze color for the door too. He knows his colors well from being in the business so long and has learned from many other experts he has worked with in the past. They took about a week or so to complete the job and touched up any areas when they were finished. The painters also cleaned up the yard from any paint scrapings before leaving the job completely and then checked with me to see if everything was to my satisfactory. I would definitely rate this company a A+++ for their all of their professional efforts!!! Thank you!

This was the second time that we used him. If we ever have any painting or any kind of work inside or out, we would call them to come and give us an estimate. We might have to wait because he is really good. He is not the cheapest but he does it and he does it right. He did it all. The man is just wonderful. I was having trouble picturing what I wanted. We were getting ready to sell the house and he was recommended to us. We had him come and I told him what we're getting ready to do. He knew I wasn't looking for a personal color to be invested in. I just wanted to make it look good to prepare the house for sale. He was very helpful there. I wanted a blue color in the bedroom and the bathroom and he was fine about it. I showed him my choices. He was actually able to customize the colors for me. He was able to give me the code should I ever need more of it. He is a really nice guy. When they left, I didn't have a thing to sweep or pick up. I didn't have a thing to do. They were done and it was just wonderful.

From start to finish Joshua and his team provided an excellent product and excellent service. Whilst we had an idea on colors to use Joshua provided some guidance on what he thought would work with the house based on his extensive prior experience. Ultimately we took his suggestions and we could not be happier with the results. The prep and painting were done in a timely manner with quality work from his team, excellent cleanup and great responsiveness from Joshua when we had any questions. We will go straight back to Devries for any future painting needs.

Joshua's crew did an excellent job. They are professional and punctual. They created a beautiful family room in our basement. Joshua made numerous suggestions which we loved and were very creative and make the basement much larger. His employees are hard working and a pleasure to have in the house.

Overall went well. Joshua was fair in his pricing and he and his crew did a great job. I got several quotes. I used him not because he was the cheapest, but the most thorough in his quote. I did not have to worry about nickle/dime add-on's that may have occurred. He was thorough in his original estimate and gave great suggestions for the house to improve it such as using a more contemporary two-tone paint for the house and painting the newly installed radon system piping.

Joshua and his great crew painted the exterior of our home in May of this year. He did a wonderful job. The kitchen needed Prep work badly and Joshua's knowledge of painting is fantastic. He is a master at color selection and as with the exterior of our home came up with a great color combination. The kitchen looks fantastic! The service and personal attention Joshua provides is the reason WE will always contact him for ALL of our painting needs.

We heard back from Joshua quickly and he came to our home the next day. We were impressed because we knew it was nice weather and assumed that all painters would be very busy, but scheduling worked out well. He was a delightful and informative person. We were very impressed with his manner and knowledge pertaining to our needs. What we considered a nightmare project, Joshua considered an easy task. Joshua had excellent color suggestions. Scheduling went well. Once they started on our project, they continued until they finished. Their workmanship is beautiful. They were conscientious and courteous and tidy. We'll never use anyone else for our painting needs!

We used DeVreis Custom Painting several years ago but had lost their contact info and were so happy to find that information again through Angie"s List. Joshua and his crew are a wonderful team and do great work. Joshua is very knowledgeable about paint materials, prep work and even color selections. He and his crew completed the prep, repair, and painting in a professional and timely manner. They were careful, clean, and courteous. We would highly recommend them.

In July 2013, I asked for quotes from 3 painters near my house. They were all professional and my experience with them were all good. However, I am listing the difference I felt with Joshua from Devries Custom Painting that led me to pick him over others. Joshua's quote was not the lowest nor the highest, but I liked his presentation the best . FYI, the difference of the quote was about $700 between the lowest and the highest. What I liked. - Joshua proactively offered opinions about how to fix up the exterior of the house in addition to painting it over. For example, he shared that some caulks used by painters actually will shrink with time and may expose gaps, but he would use a caulk that does not shrink but expand (?). Joshua suggested to replace various wood trims that were badly exposed to weather instead of taking time to preparing them for painting, since sanding would take longer and be more expensive than buying wood trim. He stated that he would prep the area underneath the wood pieces he plan to replace, so there would not be water seepage (this part I can't verify now, but will watch for it). He suggested many ideas to improve the appeal of the house from the outside. It's my personal observation that he cannot stand imperfection. - Joshua initially suggested different color than the original white trim on the wood and even offered to bring sample paints that he thought were better choice. We stayed with the white for the trim but did accept his suggested color for the front door and we like the color. Joshua was the only one who asked for a deposit when committing to the contract, but we came to a compromise where I would send 25% deposit when he can commit to a date. BTW, all 3 vendors said the date would be 4 to 6 weeks out and could not commit to exact date due to changes in weather. Joshua explained that the deposit would be used to pre-purchase material required to change out the various weather exposed wood trims. In late Aug 2013, we agreed on the start date that was 2 weeks out and I sent the deposit. Joshua came with helpers on the morning of the job start date and prep for the painting by power washing and sanding the to-be-painted area. The woods that need to be replaced were changed out. Next day, the helpers came to caulk and put on primers. Next day, the helpers painted the area as agreed. Joshua came in the morning to direct the work and did not stay during the day. To be totally honest, I believe other painters would have delivered similar paint job -i.e. the final painted trim would look probably the same regardless of who painted them - but the key differentiating factor for me was my impression of Joshua that he seem to be driven to deliver and that he was not planning for a single job but continued business. As pointed out earlier, Joshua was the only one who offered to replace the trims rather than "clean" and paint over. At least on the exterior paint job, I am satisfied.

In typical fashion I obtained 3-4 quotes and Joshua provided a very competitive and fair estimate for the work. However, it wasn't the price that resulted in us choosing Devries, but rather the service and attention to detail in his discussions with us leading up to the job. We had one company that essentially provided a drive-by quote as they came earlier than scheduled and just stuck their business card in our door. Another provider did a lazy walk around the house, tapped on their iPad and then handed us an estimate that was well above their competitors. Joshua instead took the time to walk around the house with us and point out issues they would have to resolve. He also talked us through the pain-staking color selection process as it is never as easy as you think it will be. Once the work began he and Tino led the work on site and ensured all repairs were made and the wood was appropriately prepped before priming and painting. The colors he recommended look fantastic on the house and the team's attention to detail is evident just by glancing at the house. They have made repairs we never would have tackled on our own and did so quickly and professionally. We highly recommend Devries Custom Painting for anyone's painting needs.

We were very impressed with Joshua when we first met him for an estimate. He was very thorough, knowledgeable and offered great ideas on colors and design. In exterior painting, it is hard to know for sure what the schedule will be due to weather. So the job started a few weeks later than we had hoped, but once it got going all crews were well coordinated and were meticulous in their work. The crews were professional, courteous, polite, and helpful. They cleaned up in an amazing manner every day and put in some very long hours to get the job done. We would definitely use DeVries Custom Painting if we have any more painting needs. We were extremely happy with the end result, service and price.

They did a wonderful job with great attention to detail. I would use them again and recommend them. Joshua provided an estimate at the agreed time. He provided what we requested and made suggestions of his own about what was needed and how to do the job. He started the job when he said he would and his crew worked very professionally each day they were here. The repairs were excellent. The cleaning and calking were completed as needed and the paint was applied professionally with clear sharp lines between colors. The crew cleaned up after each days work. Materials used were first rate at the best quality level. Joshua also provided helpful assistance with our sorting out color choices. Excellent job.

Josh and his crew were great! We've used Josh and his crew for painting our greatroom and foyer a few years back. Josh is extremely knowledgable and helpful when it came to picking out colors or giving recommendations. For example, he recommended to not only repaint our front door a new color, he recommended painting the trim surrounding the door the same color-which turned out fantastic. If there was an issue that we spotted, he was there to fix it right. Josh also went above and beyond, including painting and installing shutters that weren't part of our original quote. We would not hesitate to recommend Josh to anyone looking for a reputable painter.
