The torsion spring on one of our garage doors snapped late on a Saturday evening. I left a (non-emergency) voice mail. Mike called back Sunday (even though he was on the road with family). We set up an appointment for Monday. He not only replaced the broken spring, but also inspected and lubed all three of our garage door mechanisms. Responsive, helpful, good price ... I couldn't be happier! I will call again!

The garage door wouldn't stay closed and we noticed the brackets looked loose. I emailed Mike on a Friday and he called me about 15 minutes later. He offered to come out on Monday (when I was at work) and he asked me to leave the garage door open for him. (I'm a former city girl, not at all trusting of strangers, but he seemed nice enough). He called me on Monday to let me know he was on his way to our house. He called again when he got there, said the door needed some minor adjustments but was in overall good shape. He would take care of it and said I could mail him a check. When I got home the door worked great, even better and quieter than before. He even put in a new light bulb for me. I mailed him a check that day. Very professional and trustworthy, I would highly recommend A Complete Door.

I noticed the broken spring at around 4pm on Friday when the garage door opener failed to lift the door more than about a foot. My first call was to Sears repair service, only because their phone number was prominent on my garage door opener's manual. Their phone rep didn't even know what I was talking about and I ended up hanging up as soon as he transferred me to their "contractor services". Regaining my senses I logged on to Angie's List and found that A Complete Door Service was close to home and highly rated. Mike answered the phone, estimated $165 to replace the springs, and said he could do it the next day. On Saturday, after some appointments I had in the morning, I gave him a call back and he was working on the repair within half an hour. It took him less than a half hour to finish the job. Although I didn't get any other estimates, I knew from some pages I found on the web that $165 was a decent price. Mike was very direct and professional. Friendly but one of those no-nonsense types of guys.

Garage door stopped working. Put off dealing with it 2 weeks. Finally on a Friday night decided this has to be fixed. Left an email at 9:30 Friday evening. Had return call in 10 mins and an appointment for next day at 12:30. Mike showed at 12:30 and told me I needed to add spring tension and probably had a chewed up gear in opener. He gave me the options and prices. He also pulled the cover on my opener and showed me the problem. I opted to do the job right and have him install new springs ($165), a 1/2 hp gargage door opener ($350) and an external keypad ($45). I left a check in the pre-arrange spot in my garage, he returned on Tuesday to do the work. It works great and he tuned the door up as well and it is quiet and smooth. I liked that he uses email and is very responsive. During the day on Monday I emailed and asked him to program the pad for a particular code and he responded promptly. If you have a busy life like me--dont put it off--like I did. Call Mike. He is straight forward, no nonsense, does what he says he is going to do when he says he is going to do it. He is user friendly and professional.

Estimate only. I thought Mike was pushy, quite obnoxious, and didn't listen. He made conclusions that were inconsistent with my experience and other estimaters. He said that the wood door was too heavy for the opener - I am a woman and could easily lift the old door when the opener was disengaged. He said that the opener did not need replacing without looking at it. I spent years adjusting the door opener based on outdoor temps and the door opener track was old and gouged, causing multiple stops up and down consistently for years. Mike refused to listen, said it was all due to the heavy wood door and seemed not to believe me. He seemed interested in replacing the door only. Not sure why. On a side note, I did not care for his selection of garage doors. They didn't match my house's architecture. My painter was there and witnessed this exchange. As soon as Mike left, he turned to me and said, " You know...there are some other garage door companies around here that you could talk to..."

I emailed Michael on 2-9-10. He emailed me right back saying to give him a call to discuss my problem, which was my garage door worked when it wanted to. We set up an appointment for Monday (2-14). Michael came out, removed the Genie, installed the Liftmaster and two pulleys. He thoroughly explained what the problem was and what he did to fix the problem. Michael worked quickly, answered all my questions and cleaned up.

I called Mike on a Monday. He called back immediately and came the same day to check out opener while I was away. He reported back the next day and repaired the opener for a fraction of what it would cost for a new one. What I like about Mike is that he gave me options and all of the fees right up front. There were no pushy sales, and when I explained my circumstances he actually suggested the less expensive option. I trust him completely and would use him again.

I backed into my garage on Halloween, and called on Halloween night. Mike called back first thing in the morning the next day, and came over within 2 hours. Despite derailing my garage door, and bending almost everything possible on my garage door, Mike simply repaired the door and rail without trying to sell anything extra. He was quick, knowledeable and responsive. I would definitely use him again.

Unfortunately, we were unable to use his service because my fiance had called someone else. We will definitely keep Mike's number handy.

He was great. He showed up exactly when he was supposed to show up. He had done a little bit of job earlier in the building. He was familiar with the garage door opener. He gave me a pretty good indication of the state of my garage door opener, but he did not try to sell me anything. I appreciate that. He was a nice guy.

Mike was wonderful to work with. Made extra trips to my home so I could do some prep work around the garage door. He was very responsive and punctual. The quality of the door he installed is great and we are very happy with it. I would highly recommend him and will use him again in the future.

The overhead door was not operating correctly, and after trying to open it a second time, several wheels popped off, the door screeched and got stuck in a half open position at a very lopsided angle. It happened on a Saturday afternoon, and I left messages for various contractors. Mike responded immediately. He was planning to come by on Monday, but after sending him some cell phone photos of the garage door, he realized that the 'hanging' door was posing a potential hazard and he came out promptly the next morning and didn't charge the overtime fee for weekend service calls as other companies would have done. He quickly assessed the originating cause of the malfunction, and went about repairing the door. I was very impressed by his expertise, speed and business ethic. It's no wonder that he doesn't need to advertise since he's probably on everyone's referral list. He certainly is on mine!

My garage door was completely inoperable (and dangerous!), and I put out an emergency request to three of Angie's Lists' listings for garage doors, all within the area to expedite estimation/replacement process. Mike was the only one out of the three who returned the call, and ironically it was to let me know he was unavailable for three days (requested estimates on a Thursday - he was on vacation until Sat & Sun would be the soonest he could come over for estimate). I apologized and told him that it was a more emergent need than that, but to call Sunday to see if the work had been done. At that point, I had basically told him that he didn't get the job, but he went ahead and ball-parked it for me to aid in my selection with the other two. Who never called. So, 24 hours later (I did try to give them the benefit of the doubt), I emailed him to let him know that, as far as I was concerned, between the price and his responsiveness, he had the job -- sight unseen, and with nothing in writing. He showed up Sunday, as promised, and the work was done on Tuesday. I am thrilled -- that old door had been the bane of my existance for many years before it finally died!

This is the second time I have used A Complete Door. I think the price is about the same as everyone else, I really don't know because after I meet Mike the first time, I never called anyone else. I only want three things from someone I want to hire: Call me back, show up when you promise, stay close to your estimate. Sounds simple, but usually doesn't work that way. Mike called me back immediately after my initial voicemail message. He came out, checked my problem. I needed a new spring on one of the two garage doors I have. He said there was no reason to replace the door opener, it is less than ten years old. He didn't try to sell me something I don't need! My other garage door works fine, but I asked him for a price for replacing it since I knew it was not professionally installed the first time and it was over twenty years old. Plus I wanted the outside key pad to prevent locking myself out of the house. Mike gave me a price, said he would be back Monday at 11:00 am with the parts. Monday morning, Mike called, said he was here, two hours later the work was done, my garage was llike it was before he arrived, the price didn't change. I wish more contractors would take notes from Mike. Consumers aren't asking for the moon, just get the work done for the price given!
