I looked at AL's online and chose this company. They came out and looked at my trees. One had an ant problem and they said that would be no problem. They also trimmed a couple of trees that hung over the driveway.

The entire job was done in an outstanding manner. They came out shortly after requesting a quote. We requested that they do the work required whenever it was possible to schedule. Because of expected bad weather, the job was done the next morning.We could not have been more pleased.

Steve Menchhofer came out to give us an estimate for tree and shrub removal. We mentioned that we were planning to redo our front landscaping. He told us they also did that type of work and within a couple of days had an estimate for the complete job. He looked at our other trees and shrubs and also gave us advice on caring for them. The removal included all stumps. The landscaping included plants and a Japanese maple tree, cutting a landscape edge, and applying mulch to the entire area. They worked quickly but efficiently; did an excellent clean-up job and completed the entire project in one morning. We are extremely happy with the new look of our home! This is a very professional company and we highly recommend them for tree removal or landscaping projects.

The job was done halfway. I was not happy at all. The hedge was pruned evenly on the top and the sides. As far as the thinning goes, they didn't remove the dead wood first. If they would have removed the dead wood, the hedge wouldn't have lost so many living branches. When the thinning process began, I made a comment that I was always taught that you first remove the dead wood while your thinning. Steve's response was, "Oh you did, did you." At that point, I did a quick look through, instead of a thorough inspection and gave it an "OK." On completion of the job, Steve lost his keys in the hedge. While I was searching for his keys, I noticed a lot of dead wood in the hedge. When Steve returned for his keys, I pointed out the dead wood. He replied that they would correct the problem. His son came out unannounced to do this. It took him a half hour, but later when I worked on the hedge, I ended up with about 10 bags of dead wood.

Excellent service. After contact, Mr. Menchhofer had an estimate to us within two days. Seventeen trees were removed on one day, with all the stumps being removed the next. We were very pleased with the quality of the work. It was done very quickly and very professionally. After the crew finished, one could not tell that any work had been done.

Recent storms in my area resulted in two tree limbs falling and damaging front and back gutters on my home. Menchhofer Tree Care, was one of four services I contacted to see what I could do to prevent future damage to the house. Steve Menchhofer, certified arborist and owner of the company responded in a timely manner and came to discuss my concerns and to look at my trees. As well as the safety of my home, I was also interested in the health of the trees. Acknowledging that tree care is very expensive, Mr. Menchhofer listened and discussed with me options to achieve my goals. I am completely satisfied that the work performed was necessary at this time leaving other options for the future. I also consulted Mr. Menchhofer about the health of two blue spruce trees. He identified a problem and included an estimate for spraying the trees. All the work was completed quickly. All debris was cleaned up and hauled away. Mr. Menchhofer also hauled away at no expense to me other tree/bush debris already on the property. I found him very professional and knowledgeable. I will continue to work with Mr. Menchhofer and Menchhofer Tree Care in the future.

They are not finished with the job yet. It is still a work in progress. They have got to come back and finish it. They really didn't tell me the exact date that they would be here. I had a lot of work done. They are wonderful.

We had hired Steve about 10 years ago to remove a dead tree at our home, and were pleased with his overall service. So he was the only tree service that we called. I knew that Steve is a certified arborist, so I also had some questions for him when he stopped by to give me the quote. He's very knowledgeable and willing to share on types of trees to avoid, whether or not a tree needs full sun, transplanting trees, etc. I wanted the dying tree removed, and the stump ground up. Steve offered me the option to remove the ground up stump shavings/chunks/remains, or leave it for me to do. His fee would be higher if he did it. I opted to do it myself since it's not a big deal. I also asked him if there was anyway to reinforce the boughs of another silver maple in my front yard. That tree is healthy, but I know from experience that those trees are very prone to splitting from ice storms and/or high winds. He told me that he could drill holes in the two largest boughs, and connect them with a steel cable. It would not be a guarantee that those boughs would never split, but it would offer greater protection. I chose to go with that option, because I'd rather prolong the life of a mature tree rather than replace it. Steve and his crew did the work over a two week period. We had to call him because he'd not given us a start date. He also did not remember to install the cable in the other tree until we called him a second time.

Mr. Menchhofer came to the property about 6 wks. before the actual work to see what I wanted done. I had one very large dead evergreen that was to be included in the cutting contract. Due to the fact that a very large machine would have to run over the lawn we kept having to postpone the cutting.(Remember how wet we were?) I finally asked Mr. M to take the large evergreen out of the equation for the time being, and we were able to set a date for the work. Also, I asked if we could add some bush cutting since the bloom time had passed, and it could safely be done. He courteously agree. We worked it out and modified the contract. He and his associate arrived on time and worked tirelessly on a very warm day. I plan to call him for future work.

I first used him because he approached trees in a different way and not just as a tree trimmer as such. He is an arborist and he describes the procedure with the trees like a surgeon. I am really impressed with him overall.

We have worked together for several years, I just call him up and ask him to come by - I have a general idea of what needs to be done, I leave the actual decision of how and where to trim them up to him. He calls me back and tells me what needs to be done - I say OK - then he does the work and bills me. This time he recommended I fertilize again in the spring - which I will do. I don't know how he does it, but they never look trimmed after he works on them. What I mean is that they don't look hacked up. However I know the trees and see the difference.

Mr Menchhofer is very knowledgeable and they took care to make sure they did not damage the yard since it was soggy from recent rains. In fact, they were going to put a cable in the oak tree but decided not to since they could not use their equipment without leaving trenches in the yard. They were supposed to call me back to reschedule to complete the work but I have heard nothing from them and it has been over three months. They were very slow to schedule the work initially and I finally had to email them to get a date. Their responsiveness needs to better before I could give them a higher rating. They did do an excellent job on the work they completed.

If you want a professional that knows his stuff call this man. He is not just a guy that cuts dead limbs out of trees or cuts them down. This is the guy to call if you have problems or want to maintain healthy trees.

He did a great job, he is the only person I would allow to work on my trees. I have two 100+ year old Oak trees. He is very professional. He shows up in person and talks over the job with you, he asks what you want done and then he respectfully tells you what he would do if they were his trees. His judgment is very good, I always go with his recommendation, my trees look great. I am having him come back in the spring to fertilize the trees and give them an iron supplement. If he makes a recommendation he shows or tells you why it should be done. He is the man to call if you have trees that you really care about. Someone that just cuts trees would not recognize or recommend measures that would lengthen their lives. If you want a professional that really knows trees - he is your man.

The tree and shrub removal went ok; he said he would have to give me another quote for removing stumps (which appeared to be included on the original quote) and for landscaping. He came unannounced to finish the job; said he lost my number. Told him I had an afternoon appointment. Removed stumps and said he would return for the landscaping. He returned after I had gone. On return, I found the area covered with a heavy layer of straw. Under the straw, the topsoil was all basically pulverized clay with rocks in it and apparently no attempt was made to grade the lawn. When I called about the landscaping and topsoil, he just offered excuses to justify the costs.

They are excellent and he has his son work with him.

Steven Menchhofer called a couple of days ahead to let me know when he and his crew would be here and they arrived when he said they would. They completed the work in a timely manner and cleaned up well upon completion of the job. I liked that he sent me an invoice instead of needing payment right on the spot. The price for all the work seemed very reasonable when compared to the other estimates that I received. I would definitely hire this company again for future tree needs.

THEY CLEAN AFTER THEMSELVES. THEY ARE VERY GOOD. I FEEL LIKE THEY ARE FAIR PRICE WISE.

STEVEN MENCHHOFER CAME OUT TO OUR HOUSE AND GAVE US AN ESTIMATE. HIS ESTIMATE WAS BY FAR THE LOWEST OF SEVERAL COMPANIES WHO HAD COME OUT. HE FOCUSED ON WHAT WE WANTED DONE AND DID NOT ''ADD ON'' ADDITIONAL JOBS THAT MANY COMPANIES DID. WHEN I ASKED ''WHAT IS THE MAXIMAL COST THE JOB COULD COST?'' HE SAID IT WOULD BE THE ESTIMATE, AND NOT ANY MORE. SURE ENOUGH, HE CHARGED US THE ESTIMATE. NICE, DOWN TO EARTH, GUY. SHOWED UP ON TIME. DID EVERYTHING WE AGREED TO, AND EVEN LEFT US FIREWOOD.
