Matt provided a schedule at the beginning of the project which detailed the timing of each and every step of the project, beginning on time and finishing on time. Communicated well throughout the project and made frequent visits to our home to check progress and to communicate details and expectations to the guys performing the work. All of his employees/sub-contractors were very courteous and performed quality work with meticulous attention to detail. Matt also has an eye for the details and has high expectations to be sure all work is performed exactly as we desired. Very happy with the work, the process, the communication, etc. and would recommend using his services.
Description of Work: Matt and his team worked on two projects, concurrently. One project was to remodel our basement, the other to remodel/reface our fireplace in our living room. In our basement we installed new carpet, cabinetry, granite counter tops, paint, replaced all fluorescent lighting with can lights, wood trim, and installed a contemporary steel cable railing system down our stairs. In our living room we totally remodeled our fireplace by taking out very traditional cabinetry and shelves and replaced with contemporary shelves and cabinet, upgraded hearth to granite and extensive tile work over entire wall and newly constructed mantle.

We were very pleased with all aspects of the project. 1. Matt initially contacted us very promptly after I had contacted him. He said that at that time, he was very busy and would not be able to get to us for about 6 weeks. We waited almost that long for other contractors to give us a bid, but they were not at upfront about their schedule. First star for Matt. 2. When we actually started the project, the first thing Matt did was have a meeting with us and his electrician, plumber and cabinet contractors to work out a design for the kitchen, moving things around from our old layout and working with each contractor to discuss how it could be done, where things would go (lights, wires, gas lines, etc.) Matt and his people came up with a better design than we had come up with. 3. When construction started, Matt was here every morning to introduce the crew for that day, tell us what they were going to do and made sure both the workers and us knew what to expect. All of the various crews were friendly, reliable and prompt. We were often out of the house while they were working and we were very comfortable with that. If they left before we returned, they made sure the garage door was closed and all doors were locked. We have a puppy who wants to play with everyone that comes. Although we keep her penned when we were not home, if she was out with us, all the workers fussed over her and played with her and talked to her if she was in her kennel. Pet lovers get high grades with me! Matt was also very tolerant when our granddaughters were here and cause distractions. 4. Now that the kitchen is completed, we are very happy with the outcome. It is beautiful, all the craftsmen were awesome. And as stated previously, Matt was here every day to get them started and to check back on their work. If he found something he didn't like, he had them come back and redo it. 5. We highly recommend the HomeWright for any remodeling needs. And we would for sure use him again.

This was not our first remodel and so we were expecting the usual-- delays, project planning mishaps, budget overages--we've all been there, right. NOT with Matt and The HomeWright! His level of detail and professionalism is unmatched and we are so pleased with the results. Living without a bathroom can be stressful enough but living without one longer than planned is torture, thankfully Matt had it planned to the hour and even beat the schedule by a day. All of the guys who worked on the house were top notch and so kind and polite. The house looks amazing and we are so happy with the results. Thank you Matt. And his electrician Todd is the best. We have had some weird electrical things in the past but Todd was an expert.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of upstairs bath, updated bedroom closets, crown moulding install in Master bedroom
About 11 months ago, we made the decision to remodel our half bath, kitchen, parts of our family room and our hardwood floors. As with our last remodel, we asked several companies to bid on the work. One of the calls made was to Matt Wright at The HomeWright. Matt led off the process by making sure that we were collectively in the same ballpark relative to dollars needed for the project and Matt did a great job highlighting the project scope. Items that were very important to us 1-Matt had to stay involved in the project. 2-Scope had to be clear and easy to understand. 3-Budget set needed to include our needs with limited to no overages. 4-Timeline agreed upon had to be met. 5-We needed help from someone to ensure selections were narrowed when presented to us since we did not have time to visit all the vendors or review all product choices Matt followed up with a proposal and plans. We made some edits and agreed to hire Matt for the project. We met with all of the venders with efficiency and in accordance with the dates set. Scope was clearly understood and the venders were prepared. Once selections were complete, a construction calendar was presented. Construction started on time and was completed on time. As parts of our project involved limiting access to the home (floors), Matt was able to work the calendar so that work could be done while we were out of town. Great care was taken to protect the home and the furnishings. His subs went in and out of our home with no issues. We have three dogs that were in the home during construction and we had no issues with the dogs or his subs. In summary, we would recommend Matt Wright without any reservation.

This was our first renovation and what I thought a big undertaking. We took our master bath to the studs and went from there. Matt and his team helped us through the process of creating a beautiful bath area. Once we decided on how we wanted it to look, Matt was very organized in his approach. He was wonderful in how he checked in daily overseeing things, making sure I was aware when different teams were coming through and basically touching base with me too for any questions I might have. He was true to his calendar and cleanup along the way - spectacular! I was very comfortable that I was in good hands along the whole process. I'm already thinking about our next project and looking forward to it. Sarah Hicks

This was our first major remodeling/renovation and with a young family, we wanted to hire a GC that had a great depth of knowledge, a top-notch operation (seamless coordination with various subcontractors), would meet time-lines, and was honest and trustworthy. The HomeWright (Matt Wright) nailed ALL of those. From day one, Matt set up the expectations of the project in a very detailed pre-construction plan. The planning and selection process was enjoyable (which I hear is somewhat unique) as each of Matt's vendors were reputable, professional, and followed the time-lines per Matt's direction. We always felt like each vendor truly cared for their portion of the project. The demolition was quick and easy, and they took excellent precautions in keeping the house clean. Plastic sheeting over carpet and stairs, dropcloths on hardwoods, plastic sheeting covering doorways, foam rolls protecting walls, etc. The subcontractors he had were all on strict schedules as well and we always knew who was coming and going. We have a young family and we always felt comfortable with whoever was working in the house. Throughout the project Matt was available through TXT, Email, or cell if we had any questions and if there was ever anything we felt was left undone or not right, he would come over that day and immediately address it. We are very happy with the end result...our MB is the most beautiful part of our house now! We will use The HomeWright again for upcoming renovations and I would not hesitate in recommending him to anyone interested in a home renovation/remodeling project.
This project went very smoothly and we were extremely satisfied. Matt has the process streamlined from start to finish so that it is as easy as possible for the homeowner. During the initial meetings, I was impressed with the way Matt listened to what we wanted and gathered visual examples as we talked. He was prompt with providing a proposal and again we were impressed with the detail and professionalism that were detailed in it. Once the proposal was signed and a start date was determined, we picked out our finishes from different vendors. Matt gave a detailed list of who to call, where they were located, and when to have our selections made. I was again impressed when I went to the different vendors and they had our information and had a few things already picked out that were within the budget. Everyone was easy to work with and were open to making changes if the finishes weren?t what we had in mind. We were even able to come in under what Matt had budgeted! Once the project started, Matt was great at communicating who would be coming into the house, what time they would be there, and what they would be doing. All of the subcontractors were friendly and easy to work with. Matt was good about checking in during the process and was great about answering any questions that came up. He had provided a detailed schedule of the work to be done and they were able to stick to the schedule perfectly. The end result is that we have a beautiful new bathroom. We love the way it turned out and were pleased with the quality of the work. The attention to detail from Matt and the subcontractors makes for a beautiful space ?flawless tile, nice paint job, electrical, and plumbing are perfect. We enjoyed working with Matt and will definitely be calling him for future jobs.

This is perhaps the 7th or 8th project we've had with Matt and his team. As usual, the communication and workmanship was outstanding. We've come to trust Matt and his team to do outstanding work in a timely matter. When it comes to home projects, if you prefer to hire out because you don't have the time or inclination to manage the details of a project, if you want a contractor who will "just handle it", and will do a great job on time, we highly recommend Matt.
Description of Work: Matt and his team removed a custom, built-in, wood, recirculating hood vent and replaced it with a higher power stainless steel unit that vents out of the kitchen and through the roof of the house. The project included detailed custom metalwork to make the new unit look cohesive. They also installed a brand new sliding exterior door (i.e. they installed a door where one had not been previously). The project included removing and reinstalling siding and insulation, relocating and installing new electrical, and painting.

This is the second time I would have used The HomeWright and once again they did not disappoint me. Matt came out and met with me and discussed the job and made some suggestions. We agreed to the plan and Matt sent me a very detailed contract with very upfront clear pricing. He also submitted a project plan. We then worked with the folks from Ferguson the tiling/flooring company to make our choices. They were very helpful and we were extremely happy with our choices. Matt and his team then executed against the plan. There were a few delays but Matt reset expectations and made completing our job a priority. Matt's team establishes what they are going to do and then do it! Matt communicates throughout the entire job and made sure we were happy with the progress. He also makes sure that you are 100% satisfied with the job and will do what it takes to correct any issues. For example my make up mirror was hung a little too high and I had a couple irregularities in the paint and he made sure those were fixed to our satisfaction. We were extremely pleased with the end result and it turned out even better than we imagined. I would highly recommend The HomeWright if you want the job done right!

Matt first developed project plans with timelines and critical path for project completion. Any changes to the plans were met with open mind and friendly attitude. He provided names of suppliers on time so we could make our choices and order on time, the suppliers where very accommodating and helpful too. Even though we were traveling and out during the construction, Matt was able to have everything done and ordered on time so the project was finished on time.
Description of Work: As general contractor Matt assisted in project design and make recommendations on finish product that made the project successful. His team were on time, professional, courteous and friendly. He was very flexible with project changes and finished on time. Matt was easy to work with through the life of the project.
Matt was great from day one through the entire process. Very easy to work with and eager to please. We spent a lot of time talking about what I wanted to do and what my budget was. He helped me with many decisions, including those that would be important in order to stay within my budget. He explained the designing process and when I would need to make decisions and selections. He was very detailed in his explanations of how everything would happen, including a detailed schedule. I understood how the allowance, selection and payment process would work. The first selection was cabinets and hardware. I was very pleased to be able to make the selections I wanted and actually came in slightly under my allowance. I appreciated the designer there that helped me. It was a fun process. Next was the countertops, backsplash and paint. I took samples from the cabinets and pictures of my house and objects that I wanted to use to this design appointment. Again, the process was very easy and I got great advice and guidance from that designer. I did pick some high end quartz countertops that went over my allowance, but after seeing the countertop, i knew that was what I wanted and was happy to pay the difference. Finally were the lighting and plumbing fixtures. Again, the designer was very helpful and I was happy with my selections. As far as the construction process, Matt was very involved and handled everything that came up promptly and professionally. He kept in constant touch about what was happening and when. He made sure I was happy and satisfied. I traveled for work frequently during this process and I trusted that Matt managed the work and my house (and dog) with all the tradesmen coming in and out. There was never a problem with any of that process. The professionalism he exhibits made it easy for me to trust him in my house. I am thrilled with the result. I love cooking and entertaining in my beautiful new kitchen! I look forward to my next project with Matt in the future.
Description of Work: Remodeled kitchen: removed all old cabinets and appliances, took out existing bulkheads, installed all new cabinets, including additional ones, new cabinet hardware, new range hood with new venting to the outdoors, all new Cambria countertops and backsplash, new light fixtures, new sink and faucets, moved electrical switches to accommodate new design, new paint. Did not include new floor or appliances. I had replaced the tile floor a few years ago.

We hired Matt Wright for our condo remodeling project that included the construction of a den within a large living room area, renovation of bathroom and laundry areas, wood trim and carpentry work, as well as painting. Having done some renovation work previously ourselves, we approached this first outsourcing project with some hesitation and interviewed several remodelers. However, we noted quickly that Matt was very knowledgeable and experienced. He was responsive to our demands and needs, contributed to the design and planning of the renovation project and moved us along with the decision making. We were first sent off to preferred vendors (all very competent and friendly people with competitive prices), but Matt was flexible and let us choose our own supplies/suppliers if we so desired which we did for a few items. We particularly appreciated Matt’s attention to details and frequent communication and found him to be well organized and on top of his subcontractors. As the work progressed, Matt identified some existing deficiencies (for example, need for more insulation around windows, disconnected vent in attic etc.) and, after consulting with us, Matt got those fixed right away. Altogether, the quality of the remodeling work is excellent and it was completed on time and within the estimated costs. Overall we are very pleased with the outcome and would certainly hire Matt again.

We hired Matt to remodel our master bath after a glowing recommendation from a friend. Matt was a pleasure to work with and delivered exactly what we were looking for in our remodel. He was extremely detailed, organized, and made the design and selection process very easy. Both his vendors & subcontractors were professional, trustworthy, and easy to work with. He was upfront and accurate on his estimate. Matt will definitely be doing our next remodel and I would highly recommend him to friends, neighbors, and family.

Less than one year after we remodeled our master bathroom with Matt, the tile started coming loose. When I contacted Matt, he immediately came over to take a look at it. The tile ended up being defective and needed to be replaced. Matt (along with Amanda from Clay Flooring) took care of contacting the manufacturer and having the tile replaced at no cost to us. He assured me from the beginning that it would cost us nothing, even if the manufacturer wasn't willing to pay for it (which they did). We were so glad that we had used him for the remodel so that we didn't have to deal with the tile company. The whole process went very smoothly and I would highly recommend The Homewright for any remodeling needs.

Our kitchen remodel exceeded all of our expectations! We were actually quite pessimistic (this has been our first remodel experience) about working with ANY contractor as all of my friends and family continuously told me "it will always take longer then estimated, you will spend a ton more money, you will have many contractor no show days, etc." , however all those "warnings" were far from the truth in working with Matt Wright and his great team. We had an initial meet and greet and decided to be very upfront with Matt on our budget constraints and concerns on timeline. We have 3 boys and 2 big dogs so no kitchen was going to be hard! He spend a lot of time listening to what was important to us vs. what we would like, vs. what we could live without. After we met, he completed extensive measurements and then asked if he could have a few of his team come to my home and evaluate prior to presenting the estimate. That was different for us as the other bids I had received no one else asked to do that. Matt explained that especially when remodeling older homes (ours was build in the 70's) he wanted to make sure he captured everything so that we had no surprises in the end. After that process was completed, he presented everything to us. Not only was his estimate very fair, he presented us with a project calendar that indicated what would happen in my kitchen everyday! We knew what days were demolition, electrical, plumbing, dry wall etc. AND this is the best part.......it was EXACTLY as it happened. We finished on time!!!!!! His team of dry wallers, plumbers, painters etc. were so professional and personable. I trusted them in my house with no one home without any hesitation. They were flawless. Throughout the process, Matt would send "selection updates" so we knew exactly where we were according to our allowances for counter tops etc. We also decided to enhance our original plan by adding in additional painting, plumbing etc. This addition was very easy for him to mange and again, this did not even cause us a delay in completion. Working with Matt Wright was easy, his communication was excellent and I have a beautiful kitchen that I am proud to show off! he listened to what we wanted and never tried to "up-sell" our needs. We are very very glad we chose Matt Wright and will for sure use him again!

Our 2001 custom built home had a large 20x25 room that never functioned properly. The rooms original plan as a billiard room/bar was never used. Over time the room accumulated exercise equipment and office furniture as well. We tried various things in this room to make is aesthetically pleasing, but never quite hit the mark. In late 2013 we decided we wanted this room to be an office/craft room, we had a few ideas, but weren't sure how to accomplish our goals. We started with a shop drawing and a few bids from remodelers, but never felt comfortable with the pricing. Our last call was to Matt Wright of The Homewright and the situation turned around immediately. A very important part of the project was that we wanted to match our existing hardwood floors that cover the majority of our first floor into the new room. At the initial meeting Matt was full of new ideas and recommendations that would achieve our goals without breaking the bank. We started with a large walk in closet with 2 large double doors to fill the nonfunctional space. Matching the existing bar cabinets that were staying in the room would be very expensive, so instead we used good quality cabinets to accentuate the room. We added a center island for crafts and replaced the counter top on the existing bar to tie it all together. We chose quartz counter tops with the help of Matt and his flooring representative, Amanda. I had no worries when the project began. The subs were very nice and willing to help with a few maintenance items that were not on our original scope of work. We were very comfortable leaving the house during the day and letting the subs come and go to complete their work. We had a line item bid with a daily written schedule of the job with a completion date which was followed exactly as proposed. We had a slight hick up at the end of the project. A double sliding solid door that we had chose was partially put up in the entry into the room and we decided it looked to closed off from the rest of the house. We thought we could live with the door, but decided to talk to Matt about a door change. I felt awful but sent him an email on a Saturday morning. His response was, no problem, I will bring out some door samples on Monday. He also stated that we would get credit for the unused door. The office/craft room is complete and we love the space and will use it for so many project and events for the rest of our lives. We are so excited that this once jumbled mess of a room has purpose and looks amazing. We had a great experience and would use The Homewright again for any other projects we might have.
Matt is a great guy to work with. He is wonderful with communication. If there was a delay, something comes up, when the contractors would be showing up or just to clarify. The people is contracts with are polite and do great work. The only disappointment was that they didn't wear shoe covers on our carpet. Matt is very receptive to little changes and is very willing to make everything right. Would highly recommend Matt and his company, in fact we plan on using him for more work in the future.
Description of Work: Remodeled our dinning room and kitchen This includes flooring, cabinets, painting, countertops, can lighting, minor plumbing.
This was our first experience with remodeling, and we couldn?t be more pleased with the process and outcome. After having interviewed four companies, we chose The HomeWright because our vision could be completed within the budget we had. From the beginning Matt put us at ease. He gave us an itemized budget, directed us to knowledgeable people to make our product selections, and issued us a calendar of projected dates for work to be completed. As the remodel began the weather turned very cold and nasty. The crew took great care to ensure our home was protected by covering carpet and railings. Matt was on site daily to check on the work being completed, to answer any questions we had, and to inform us what would be happening the next day. If plans changed, we received phone calls and text messages to keep us informed. Communication was terrific! The project took approximately five to six weeks to complete from beginning to end. Our schedules did not allow us to be at home each day while work was being completed. At one point in the remodel, we had to leave town. We never once were concerned about the security of our house. Matt relayed expectations and the workers followed them. We now have a beautiful master bathroom. The expertise of all those who helped us choose the products used, the quality of work completed by Matt?s crew, and attention to detail he gave to our project made our first remodel a very positive experience. We are thrilled with the outcome.
Description of Work: The HomeWright gutted our master bathroom and remodeled it. A garden tub was removed and replaced with a soaking tub. A shower wall was removed, the shower enlarged, and a new half wall with glass was installed. Outdated cabinetry was removed and replaced with updated ones. New sinks, countertop, and mirrors were installed. Carpet was removed and replaced with tile. The bathroom was painted.

iMatt and the team were excellent to work with. They had a detailed schedule that we all agreed on and every day and week we knew what was happening and it was executed to perfectly. The people Matt brought in were easy to deal with and i completely trusted them in my house. I would use The Home Wright again in the future and would recommend them to anyone who was doing a remodeling project that they needed done correctly. The other positive to Matt and his team was that at the end of every day, they left the site completely cleaned which made the process easy to work out when it is close to your bedroom area.

We spoke with three contractors before beginning our full kitchen remodel. One dismissed some of our ideas as things we didn?t ?need,? and another kept pushing us to go bigger. We chose to work with The HomeWright because Matt paid attention to our preferences and to the way that WE use our kitchen. Process: During our first meeting, Matt listened to our ideas and gave us an overview of how the project would work. We later signed an agreement on the overall plan and budget and received a calendar reflecting each phase of the project. The cost was dispersed over three payments (beginning, mid-point, and completion). There were no surprises, and Matt always did what he said he would. Communication: Matt asked questions and offered guidance without being pushy. He always responded to text messages immediately and to email and phone calls within hours. As we chose materials, he let us know if our selections were coming in over or under the agreed-upon budget and waited for our approval of the new amount before placing orders. He knew which features were most important to us, and he worked with us to make those wishes reality. Quality: Matt evaluated the current condition of our house (built in 1947) and incorporated work needed to bring things up to code so that the project would be done right. During demolition, it became clear that that the support beams in the ceiling were bowed and the floor above was beginning to cave in on the kitchen ceiling. Matt immediately scheduled (with our approval) the work to fix it. Vendors: I compared the prices of the items we purchased from each vendor and found them to be consistent with (or better than) what I was able to find online or at home improvement stores. The vendors that Matt works with were responsive, patient, and helpful. There was one that I wouldn?t choose to work with again, but Matt resolved the issues in that case with no work required from us. We had two minor complaints 1. The cost of fixing the ceiling issue was surprisingly high. We communicated that to Matt and stopped work temporarily to consider other options. Ultimately, because our kitchen was demolished, we were in a holiday season, and the subcontractors were already working on other pieces of the kitchen, we decided to proceed despite the high price. 2. We decided to include a waterfall countertop feature, and accepted Matt?s suggestion to upgrade to quartz. But we didn?t realize that there would be an outlet right in the middle of the waterfall portion because it was at the end of a peninsula. We asked that they omit the outlet so as not to cut a hole in the large slab of quartz. Because code requires an outlet in a location like this, Matt wasn?t willing to install the feature without it. We understand Matt?s insistence on constructing things to code but wish that we?d known about this requirement when choosing the waterfall feature and more expensive quartz material. Matt was responsive, respectful, and couldn?t have been easier to work with. We had no concerns about quality, and it was clear that our happiness with the finished product was important to him. He pushed his vendors to meet timelines and make all of the details right, and maintained regular contact to keep us updated and get our feedback. We love our new kitchen, and are so happy that Matt ensured that it is as functional as it is beautiful.

Spoke to Matt on the phone to get a date to meet for an estimate on a complete bathroom remodel. Would not even come out until I provided a lead inspection, so hired another contractor.

Response from The HomeWright, LLC
When I am contacted by a member regarding a project, one of my initial questions is when the home was built. It's an important question due to a law that was enacted in April 2010 through the EPA. Simply stated, the RRP Rule requires the determination of lead based paint being present in homes built prior to 1978. Being a EPA Certified Renovator, I understand the rule & it's ramifications if the procedures are not followed. It is important that homeowners are aware of this rule due to the health concerns & fines levied if the proper procedures are not followed. Once I notify an potential client of the RRP Rule, most are understanding of the initial testing that must take place. Mainly due to the costly containment procedures that are required per the RRP Rule. If no lead paint is found, a client will not have the added cost of demolition containment included in the project which is always a great thing! If no testing is completed, then an EPA CERTIFIED RENOVATOR must follow the containment procedures as stated in the RRP Rule. I have also had potential clients tell me that I am the only one that mentions the rule. So because of that, I will continue to inform homeowners. Just because it isn't mentioned by other services providers, does not mean it isn't a concern or the rule doesn't exist. I am starting a Kitchen Remodel this week on a home built prior to 1978. A lead test was performed and no lead based paint was found in the home. This saved my client upfront money since we do not have to follow the containment procedures. It also gave them the piece of mind that no lead paint is present in their home. In conclusion, I wish this member the best with his project. I also hope that the service provider he hired understands the RRP Rule & procedures that must be taken if no lead test was performed. If you are reading this & would like more information regarding the RRP Rule, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Matt Wright, CR - President - The HomeWright, LLC

This is the third major project we've done using Matt Wright and The Homewright LLC. Matt is our "go to" for any remodeling project and we've referred him to friends and they've also been very pleased with his work. When we decided to go forward with for our kitchen remodel, we met with Matt and discussed options. We basically gutted the kitchen and started over. Given some space considerations, we used our original footprint but totally modernized the space. We love it! Since we've worked with Matt previously, we're very comfortable with his vendors and subs. Matt knew our budget and schedule requirements. Matt is a truly a professional and we feel an anomaly in the construction industry because he is realistic about the schedule and his people keep to the schedule - we've never had an issue. I would not hesitate to work with Matt again (we're already thinking about the 4th project) or recommend him to our friends and colleagues.

We got Matt's name from friends of ours who have used him twice. They were very pleased with his work, so we didn't talk to anyone else about our project. Matt was very professional from the beginning to the end. He listened to what we wanted and gave us options, as well as using some of our ideas. His workers were always polite and punctual. I have teenagers who were in and out and I never worried about them being alone with the workers. Matt checked in on the progress every day and kept me informed about any schedule changes. The work area was always cleaned up at the end of the day. All of the work done was of high quality. We love our new bathroom and would definitely use The Homewright LLC again!
Description of Work: We completely remodeled our master bath. Our large master bedroom windows were also replaced.
