Went really well, this is the second time we used Matt. This job was smaller than previous work and likely smaller than future work but the quality and responsiveness was still there. The work added a ton of visual appeal to the house and was well worth it. He may have pictures on his web site, pretty amazing. After the concrete was poured Matt noticed a small puddling area on the step. Matt demands the highest quality and had it redone promptly. I appreciate the attention to detail and willingness to fix problems areas quickly.
Description of Work: Matt installed a new front and casing. Ripped out and replaced front stoop and sidewalk leading to driveway.

Engaged Matt Wright to remodel our master bath. The overall experience was superior to other, similar work we have contracted in our home. Some specifics are the following: Matt was always on time for appointments, professional and courteous throughout the process, from first meeting to completion. He is knowledgeable, insightful and honest with his assessments of how he can help. Unlike other companies, he provided a line by line estimate of our project (which is what we wanted) and is very forthright with all costs. We have found most other contractors are very reluctant to do this, and some even refuse to do it. With Matt, it is the 'way he does business'. Once engaged for a project, Matt works as the general contractor, but all work is performed by crews he has worked with for years. All of these individuals, from product selection to installation and clean up, were professional, personable, and interested in helping us get the master bath we wanted. Workers were always on-time (and the work was scheduled over a few weeks around our work schedule), respectful of our home, and professional. Matt came by almost daily to check on progress and ask for our opinions. We also spoke on the phone frequently -- he works hard to ensure there are no 'surprises' in the process. We are very pleased with the work that has been completed. It came in on schedule, with few hassles, and well under estimates we had from others for the same work. We're especially impressed with the tile work -- it is very well done, with good attention to detail. I would highly recommend Matt for similar projects.

They started on the date they said they would and accomplished a lot in the first day. The rain was a problem when it came to painting but I was glad they didn't try to paint on those days. They were all very friendly polite and did a great with everything including cleaning up after themselves. We are very happy with the outcome and many of the neighbors have stopped by to tell us how nice our house looks. Not only does our house look new but we have noticed a big difference with how cool the has stayed with the new roof, house wrap and siding.
Description of Work: Tear off old roof and replaced, installed ice and water shield around all drip ends.Replaced gutters and down spouts, installed dow insulating house wrap and trimed out with smooth cedar and install James E Hardie board planking, painted entire house including windows caulked all windows and doors.

We had used Matt for a master bath remodel and were so satisfied that we asked if he could help with 2 outdoor problems. As before he was prompt, efficient and did a great job! He always kept us informed on what was happening and even managed to complete the job close to deadline, in spite of many rain delays!
Description of Work: We had to replace two pieces of wood on either side of our front door (porch) that had rotted due to poor construction by our builder AND had numerous woodpecker holes on the shady side of our home.....Matt replaced all of the wood and siding and repainted so that it looks like new! Perfect work!

The project went great. Matt was flexible with regard to material selection and worked hard to stay within our budget. Throughout the project, Matt remained very responsive, trustworthy, and communicative. The end result looks fantastic, same as with our kitchen remodel. My wife and I both work full time, and we greatly value the fact that we can hire Matt, know that he is going to do a good job on time and on budget, know that he will call if he has a question, but otherwise we can stay out of his way. We had no reservations leaving our home with Matt and his crew unsupervised. They always cleaned up and were polite. Matt provided us a schedule at the beginning of the project and stuck to it. He did a very good job of notifying us when certain work would be done, and worked hard to make sure we were happy. We would gladly recommend Matt to friends and family.
Description of Work: Matt and his team did a great job our kitchen remodel in late 2009, and we engaged them to remodel our master bathroom during late spring of 2010. The bathroom job was a complete remodel, with most of the bathroom being taken down to studs. The job included removal, relocation or replacement of interior walls, an existing tub, shower, vanity, mirrors, and light fixtures, and then the installation of a new custom double shower, a new tub, a new vanity, all new electrical, all new plumbing, and new fixtures. The project also included a tremendous amount of detailed tile work, all of which turned out great. Matt designed the overall new layout of the bathroom, and he provided valuable insight into material selections. He was able to save us some money by using granite leftover from our kitchen remodel. The work took place over a period of six weeks.

Having worked in the construction industry previously, I was a bit skeptical about contractors in general because of their reputation and their failure to live up to their word in terms of price, service and quality. We learned about The Homewright LLC through Angie's List. Matt has been great to work with right from the beginning. Not only is he intimately involved with the project from beginning to end, he has great subs working for him. When we were told the materials would be delivered on a certain day and time, the materials were there. When we were told that the painters would arrive by 8:30 a.m. tomorrow, they were there. We are thoroughly pleased with our new guest bedroom and are already thinking about the next project that we can hire Matt and The Homewright to complete.
Description of Work: We hired The Homewright to construct a bedroom in our basement.
We began with a personal meeting with Matt Wright. We found Matt honest and responsible, willing to do whatever he could to give us the updated master bathroom we wanted. After listening to us and showing us pictures of other bathroom remodels that he has done, Matt provided us with a complete summary of costs for goods and services and explained everything to us, patiently answering all of our questions. He wasn't the cheapest bid we got, but we found his bid the most believable. There were no hidden costs, or last minute increases. The work began on schedule and Matt showed up everyday on time and with a crew of workmen that were responsible, punctual and professional. From the beginning, prepping our stairway to the final painting, Matt was in charge, kept us informed, and knew exactly what needed to be done. He was pickier than we were! It was an amazingly easy remodel, even finishing before estimated! And the end result is perfect!
Description of Work: We wanted an almost complete renovation of our master bathroom. From demolition to completion we were totally satisfied with the work provided by the HomeWright.

This contractor is extremely busy. I was drawn to him from all the reviews I read. When I called to make an appointment, he was very upfront about his busy schedule. I agreed to schedule him 3 weeks out to just look at the project. I expressed that I was looking for a contractor that I could build a relationship with over many home improvement projects and renovations. Unfortunately, he just called to cancel as his schedule became too overloaded to even meet with me. While I appreciate his honesty, I'm disappointed. I did mark that I would use this contractor again - but really that's more of a maybe.
We have used the HomeWright for roofing and drywall in past years. This year, we needed a complete remodeling of our entire first floor. Matt did a nice job with the schedule - it was clear and he met the dates. Matt's crews are trustworthy - I had no problem leaving them with a key and access when I was not at home. The quality was right on. Matt's flooring expert even helped with interior design ideas, and she was a real gem to work with. Matt's drywall man is a real expert too. Matt was on site every day, and the crews came to work each morning and worked all day or until their jobs were complete. We are really pleased with the results and would recommend the HomeWright to anyone.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of entire first floor - ceiling to floor, including kitchen and powder bath, new floors, kitchen island, cooktop, windows, painting all drywall and trim.

Matt Wright made the entire process very easy. We were working on a tight time frame because the kitchen needed to be functioning order in time to host Thanksgiving. From the beginning Matt laid out a detailed schedule so we knew when certain selections needed to made by in order for everything to proceed smoothly. And it definitely did. Matt was great at communicating with us throughout the whole process and was always quick to answer any questions or concerns we might have. The project was completed, including the punchlist, by the date Matt originally stated and we are very satisfied with the finished product.
Description of Work: We did an aesthetic update to our kitchen. This entailed the removal of green laminate countertops, floor tile with green vines, an older trash compactor, and large brass fixtures. We then had granite countertops installed along with a new stainless steel sink, a new sink fixture, new light fixtures, and new tile where the prior tile had been removed. Additionally carpentry work was done on our island to convert the trash compactor spot to a pull out trash door and the island was extended to create space for our wine fridges. The island was then "reskinned" with beadboard and new doors to give it a contrasting look to the other cabinets in the kitchen. Last the island was painted and glazed, the kitchen walls and ceiling were painted, and new cabinet hardware was installed.

Overall, it was a great experience. We tackled these three projects at a really busy time of year for us personally so sticking to a timeline and avoiding chaos was really important. He took good time on the front end to fully comprehend the scope of the project and presented us with a very detailed proposal from a financial, product and timing perspective. He even went so far as to tell us on the front end that there was one unknown and explained to us what that was so there would be no surprises along the way. Every day during the project the house was left clean. Sub-contractors were polite, showed up on time and finished on time. One contractor even told us how important timelines were to Matt which showed us how serious he is about his work. In the end, the projects exceeded our expectations, timelines were met and there were no financial surprises.
Description of Work: The Home Wright performed three services for us. Matt completely redesigned a built-in-bookshelf to be more functional for our family. The final product far exceeded our expectations. He also installed ceiling fans and lights in our bedrooms as there was no overhead lighting at all. Finally, he did a complete master bath remodel that turned out beautifully. It's attractive and functional. Matt thought of many little details that would have never occurred to us in all projects.

They were very thorough, professional and punctual. I had a good impression of them, but my decision came down to the price. I give them all A?s for their service.
Description of Work: The Homewright LLC gave me an estimate for windows.
This was the best experience we ever had! Matt came in and looked at the space and then got our ideas. He then put together a VERY detailed proposal that laid out each step, timing and cost along with a picture of the room. He also had allowances for items like lighting and flooring which we could increase/decrease according to our tastes. His proposal was the only one to take advantage of the alcoves in the room, which were tricky and other contractors told us it would just be cheaper to close them off. Matt designed built in shelves in one of the alcoves and a dress up changing area in the other. He is the only contractor that sent a thank you note for allowing him to bid the project and state how much he would enjoy the work. He felt like a trusted friend from day one! Matt stuck exactly to the schedule and cost proposal exactly - when he said he would be there, he was there. His team, though they are subcontractors, are like his employees. They were very professional, polite and you could barely tell they were in the house. They showed up when they said they would, did their work and then cleaned up each night before they left. Matt was very accessible and we would usually reach him on our first try. When we had to leave a message, he would call us back usually within the hour. Very responsive, very patient and completely concerned with our satisfaction and happiness. We are so happy with the way the room turned out and our girls love the space. Everything in the process was so easy and we are still amazed on how each day the assigned task was completed and the whole job was finished within the estimate. We look forward to using Matt again in the future.
Description of Work: Matt bid on the job to finish out a bonus room next to our daughter's room. The room is 10x15 and we received several bids from contractors. We wanted to drywall the room to get maximum usage while also making it a comfortable space for the kids to play and hang-out in. The bids we received ranged in price from 3,500 - 16,000 with contractors who had very different ideas of what would be entailed. We learned a lot from the different proposals and while we could have done it cheaper, it would not have been the same and I am certain it would not have been done on time and on budget as it was with HomeWright.

They were professional, courteous and helpful. They were top of the line and I really enjoyed working with the owner, Matt. We had discussed the patio a year ago when they were doing the remodeling. I called him and told him that I was tearing up my brick patio and wanted to know when he could give me an estimate. He was out the next day. I told him I wanted to save a little bit of money and he gave me some ideas on things that I could do on my end. I did those things and he had guys here the next week. They are almost done and it is fabulous. I never have worked with a better person. They are fun and I recommend him to my friends and co-workers when they need things done.

We had a wonderful experience working with Matt! From the very beginning he was extremely organized and reliable. He was in constant contact with us through the whole remodel process and was always available to answer our questions. He offered great suggestions that we ended up using in our project that added a lot of beauty and design to our bathroom. As a stay at home mom with two small children, I especially appreciated that he explained the long working relationships he had with the craftsmen that would be in our home. We felt so comfortable with Matt and his team that we ended up leaving on vacation the last week of the project. It was so nice to come home to a completed and beautiful bathroom. Our project was completed on time and the work was exceptional. We will use Matt in the future for our home projects and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

From the start of this remodel to the finish we were very pleased with the promptness of the contractor and all of the subs working on the project. A few unknown problems were discovered during renovation and fixed as well. These are things that we as homeowners had no idea even existed but were very glad to have fixed as well. The outside contacts we had to make during the selection of fixtures, granite, tile, flooring and lighting could not have be more helpful and not at all pushy for decisions to be made. They were well informed of our project and our needs but mostly pleasant to work with. Also all of the subs in our home were people that we never felt anything but comfortable and trustworthy in our home. We felt we could carry on about our workdays and know that all was being taken care of. Matt Wright, the contractor, kept in well informed of all activity and schedules by a printed calendar and or a phone call or email. This we liked very much knowing what to expect each day. We would give the company an A+++++++ rating!!
Description of Work: We completely gutted and remodeled the Master Bath and two closets. We installed new granite counter tops andbacksplash in the kitchen. Installed extra insulation under sun porch and also into and covered two bay windows on the house.

Our experience was excellent. Matt made sure we completely understood the project. He explained some of the potential pitfalls that could occur once the wall was opened up. One of those "pitfalls" happaned when a framers nail accidentally nicked a pipe in the wall creating a small leak that damaged some dry wall. Matt made sure the repair was made immediately and at no cost to us. You would never know that there had been a leak. All of the sub contractors that were in the house were polite, friendly and professional. We felt comfortable having them in the house. They all cleaned up after themselves. They all made the extra effort to make sure that our A/C was turned off during their work so that as little dust as possable was spread throughout the house. We love the new found space in our house thanks to the removal of the wall. It looks original. No one would ever know that the house wasn't designed this way to begin with. Thanks Matt!

Matt showed up on site the day he promised. He made sure we were aware of the process and what to expect. He was up front about pricing, options and other things we may encounter in the process. The contractors were very polite and took great care not to disturb and landscaping or make a mess inside the home. Once the old widow was removed we found the there was more rot than what was visible from any inspection. Although it was not what we would have wanted, Matt told us in his bid and conversations that this could be a problem. Knowing this up front we were not shocked or unprepared to tackle this challenge. Matt upon finding the problem quickly alerted myself and my wife of the problem. He was able to get the materials over to our home to repair the window and stay on schedule. Since he had to remove the old siding to fix the peak. We decided to hire him to reside the front of our house. He was able to complete this extra request in a matter of 2 days after the window. He again was up front, honest, and made sure he was respectfully of our busy schedules. I have more windows and a kitchen remodel I have planned later this year and will be calling Matt back for an estimate.
Description of Work: I recently purchased a home in the Carmel Area. Prior to close the home inspector found that several of the windows were in need of replacement. Prior to signing the work we asked the Sellers if we could send out a contractor to estimate the repair costs. We had a friend who lived in the area recommend The HomeWright. We called him in the morning and he was out there the same day to meet our Realtor and walk the home. He wen through and detailed every possible problem the inspector found and provided a quick and detailed quote the next day!! Because of his responsiveness and detail the sellers ended up reducing the asking price to offset the work. We hired Matt after we moved in to repair and replace a problem window that was on the inspection.

After spending a previous summer patching and screwing existing T-1-11 siding, I found out from the previous owner that even though the house was 30 years old, the T-1-11 had all been replaced 15 years ago. Instead of 30 year old product that needed some TLC, I had 15 year old product that was at the end of its useful life. Considerable research led me to believe that residing was the only answer. I had decided on using Hardie planks because they look like real wood, but are far more durable. The biggest problem with Hardie is that being a cement board, you cannot recess the nails and putty over them. It is forbidden by the manfacturer and a bad idea. Planks, though, allow for a blind nail (each upper board covers the lower board's nails) so the nearly flush mount nails aren't seen (and therefore aren't ugly). I had decided to add insulation behind the board, but wasn't sure how to address the windows. Since I was going to install this over the T-1-11, the existing window trim wouldn't be deep enough. I received proposals from two firms that came recommended from friends. Each came highly recommended, but basically just priced up my ideas. I was ready to go with the lower of the two prices. Due to Chase Bank messing up the home equity loan (and Fifth-Third getting it done in 1 week), the delay resulted in my fortunately running across a lawn sign for The HomeWright while out walking the dog. I spoke with the home owner who (incorrectly) described the work performed. Not a construction guy. Figuring that I had nothing to lose, I looked up The HomeWright's web page and discovered that this other house had work similar to what I needed. I invited Matt over the next day and we spent several hours discussing the work required and the ideas that I had. Matt sometimes agreed and sometimes didn't, but he always had good reasons when he didn't. He talked me out of the insulation board, which was a bad idea. When the price came in between the other two bids, and barely above the low bid, I knew I had my contractor. Work started late last year, but we knew in advance that the painting would likely have to await the spring. Matt always called with progress updates and to see if we had concerns. When a hidden condition, like areas of rot, was discovered, the proposed solution was good and the price was right. Gouging on extras is some contractor's lifeblood -- no Matt's. He was fair in all cases, even telling me on some of my requests that he had included it all along because it was the right approach. When work was completed this spring we were ecstatic. Our neighbors are quite pleased too as the house was pretty beaten up looking. During the winter we added some indoor work which also went very well. Aside from the updates and fair pricing, perhaps the best thing was that the workers arrived when Matt said they would and they stayed until the job was done. This guy knows what he is doing.
Description of Work: The HomeWright performed a complete exterior renovation of our home. Work included replacing all siding, replacing the roof including adding a ridge vent and reconfiguring a poor valley design. All soffits and fascia were replaced, all trim was replaced, attic insulation was added, all gutters and downspouts were replaced, all screen porch screens and trim were replaced, windows were repaired, bath vents were run correctly, and then, because we were so pleased with how things were going, we had them repair the walls and repaint our Living Room and Dining Room. I have more than 25 years experience in construction ranging from high-end residential to high rise to schools to Federal facilities. In many respects I can be the worst sort of buyer of home building because I know what I am talking about and I am very opinionated. Matt Wright came through with flying colors. He stood up for what he thought was the correct approach when he thought that I was wrong and changed my mind on how to proceed. His knowledge of construction is exceptional and he knows how to get the best bang for the buck. When I wanted to add an inch of board insulation behind the new siding, Matt showed me how it would have a greater payback (and cost less) by adding blown-in insulation in the attic. Other contractors that I interviewed and who provided proposals were nowhere near as knowledgeable and never challenged me when I wasn't using the best approach. I whole-heartedly recommend using The HomeWright. Though I had a bid that was about $1,000 lower (~2%), the additional cost was well worth it. Correctly reworking and salvaging existing windows alone made the cost worth it. Our home had T-1-11 siding, which isn't much more than pretty plywood. It was delaminating, bubbling, and rotting. We had leaks I knew of, and some Matt found, documented, proposed a fair price for, and fixed. All stable T-1-11 remained, and the bad areas were replaced with plywood. Then a housewrap was added and the Hardie planks were installed over the housewrap. All trim was done in cedar. All areas were reflashed. The rakes were extended to match the soffits. The existing shingles were removed from the roof and all soffits and gutterboards were replaced. Areas that didn't drain well were reworked and a few rotten boards were replaced. Flashing at the chimney was done correctly for the first time in the life of the house. Everything received new paint including priming that occurred on any Hardie plank cuts, etc. A tremendous value and a job well done.

Work went extremely well. Matt Wright works with certain select subcontractors -- all of whom work closely with Matt. In our case, we needed roofers, painters, window guys, and electricians. They all did great jobs, were prompt, efficient, and cleaned up when they left. Matt was here whenever he was needed, and is generally extraordinarily easy to reach. From estimate to completion of the work, I couldn't have been happier. Give the HomeWright a try, I think you will be very pleased.
Description of Work: The HomeWright installed four new Pella windows, a Velux skylight, a new vent fan in the bathroom, and did some additional venting work in our attic.

siding, sunrooms, replacement windows

From the beginning, we were pleased with our contact with this contractor. He was willing to do the work but urged us on more than one occasion to call the original builder of the sun porch. He thought maybe we could save some money, and the original builder would have more knowledge of the project. After several futile attempts to have the original builder come out and find the problems, Matt Wright agreed to do the work. He kept us informed from the beginning. The contract estimate and contract were very specific. We were taken outside to see the damage and to see why so much work had to be done. He took pictures of the damage after they removed the rotted siding. They also covered that end of the porch with Tyvek so the cold would not come in. The work was begun as soon as the windows came in. They worked all day on consecutive days. Each time they came to work, they cleaned up and used their vacuum. They did their sawing, etc. outside, so there was no excessive sawdust anywhere. The men who came to stain were wonderful and very considerate of smells entering the rest of the house. They were also considerate of cold coming in when they needed to have the windows open. The painter also came back one day to clean off some stain that had gotten on the windows. As the work progressed, we were kept informed as to what they were doing and why. We saw the materials that they were using and understood why they were using them. We were confident that they were using a good grade of materials and they were doing work that would last through the years. This was a project where the new construction needed to look like the twelve year old part. They did a very good job of that. Our experience with this company and the people who work with it was outstanding from beginning to end. We never felt uninformed. We were called before and after something was done. We were considered every step of the way. If we placed a call, it was returned that day and sometimes within the hour. We truly felt like the customer came first. The people who work for this company and the owner are professional, friendly and caring. The owner of the company was the person who kept in touch with us. He was here for part of the day almost every time someone was working. He was knowledgeable on all aspects of the project. He frequently asked us if we were happy with the way something had been done and if we had questions or comments. He was never defensive but always open to suggestions. How refreshing!
Description of Work: Siding and windows were replaced. Also, moisture barriers and insulation had to be replaced and added. Besides the repair work they did on the all seasons room, they replaced a window in a bathroom and a window in a laundry room. The windows all had to be stained to match existing wood.
