Great design to start with. Lots of ideas and direction from the designer (Barry). Good follow through and tips for dealing with the other contractors that were involved in the job. Barry was great to work with and was very flexible.

Their service is very good. They were helpful when I was selecting the trees.

Please note we submitted an earlier report on this job; I'm submitting this in response to a recent AL request for a report, and to update the earlier report with new information. The job was done very nicely...we were (and largely remain) very happy with the result. Some minor snags...One of the hollys died, but it was in a spot where others died also. One shrub turned out to be too close to a new tree; we were promised it would be moved, but hasn't been yet. The reseeding turned out initially well, but they used a plastic mesh with interlaced straw to protect the new seed. It was not clear to me when it had to be taken back up, so I did let it remain until a year later. Pulling it up then, pulled up all the new grass, as well. It rips apart, and strands of plastic remain all over the area. To prevent that problem, I'd suggest (and insist on, in my yard) that they use a degradable mesh, or simply just straw. My ignorance contributed to the problem, but a seed cover without the plastic mesh would've prevented any followup error by the homeowner. We did get an estimate from them for remulching this last summer ....it came in at $1100. Too expensive, so I used bagged mulch. Turned out much less expensive; though adequate, admittedly not as professional a result. As I said, we remain happy with their overall performance on our job. Though we did not get alternate quotes for the job in july '09, based on the cost of earlier work by others, I believe they are good, but expensive.

They are good and arrive on time, but they are a little expensive.

The work they did came out very well. Sometimes it was just hard to pin them down when they would be coming since they had a huge schedule. However, everything was eventually done. Their price was a little higher than most landscaping companies. However, they do a good job, and they use good materials. The plants are in fine shape.

My wife and I couldn't be more pleased with the entire process and the people involved. Jeff Davis was excellent to work with on the design. He listened to our requests and incorporated them into the design. His design was one of three we requested and received. Without a doubt, Jeff's design was the best. Christo, Roberto and Tim did the bulk of the work in tearing out the old landscaping and putting in new hardscape and plantings. They did an excellent job including some delicate work in setting limestone slabs as steps and in creating the patio area with patio pavers and bluestone. We are extremely pleased with the result and would recommend Salsbery Brothers to others for design, hardscape and plants.

They've always been attentive to our needs. Would not hesitate to use them again.

Great experience - the guys were always here early to do the work, were very efficient and courteous, and their equipment didn't need to tear up our lawn too badly to get the installation done. It's been about 2 months, and already you can't see any sign of the install. We're really happy, and our lawn looks amazing already. :)

They came the day after I called them at the promised time and did the work quickly and efficiently.

The employees were very concerned with making me happy and I appreciate their helpfulness.

I spent a long time with the salesperson choosing an appropriate tree for the area. After I had chosen a Japanese maple, I asked the salesman who helped me if the tree were appropriate for the area: facing west with no protection. He assured me that it was a fine choice. When I got home, I learned from a neighbor that she had bought the same type tree from Salisbery for a very similar area and it died. I called Salisbery back with that information and said I thought I should choose a different tree. The man who helped me told me that no two yards' conditions were the same and since he had spent a considerable amount of time with me choosing the tree, he did not want to reconsider his choice of tree for my yard. The following summer the tree seemed to be doing well until one day I noticed the leaves were curled and dry looking. I called Salisbery. The man came out, said the tree was dying, but since it was 2 days past the year's warranty, nothing was going to be done. I really felt that I had been treated unfairly since I had called back with the information that that type tree did not seem to be appropriate. The attitude of the man who came out to look at the dying tree was quite abrupt and unpleasant when he told me I was past the year's warranty. The people with whom I dealt did not seem interested in providing service once the initial contact was made.

Had a good experience with the designer and liked the design, but in the end chose to go with another company. Would've been better if they had a computer program or at least pictures from a book of the plants and other elements in the design, to give me a better idea of what it would look like.

We purchased a tree to be planted at the corner of the house. The location had a tree there previously that was removed and the stump ground out for replanting. Salsbery planted the new tree. I felt that it was planted to high, however they told me that it need to be planted that way. Over the winter the tree started leaning. I called in the spring and they came out and straightened the tree and staked it. Now the tree looks much better.

They were punctual and cleaned up after the job. The landscaping looks great and has given us additional privacy, which was one of our goals. We were happy with the work.

They were prompt in their response and did a good job

We have Salsbery's come out annually to re-edge all of the landscaping beds, do minor pruning, clean-up and then re-mulch. This year, the edges were a bit too deep. While it looks great, the steep edge causes 2 issues: someone might turn an ankle if they walk to close to the edge; and, the wheels of the lawn mower drop down to far causing the blade to scalp the edge. They responded immediately and came back the next morning to re-level the mulch to eliminate this issue. All personnel are professional and friendly.

I absolutely adore them. I have them actually on an ongoing basis. They are just fantastic with service, and follow-up and showing up when they say they are going to. The price on the mulching is per job and on the gardening it's per month, but I haven't been billed yet as it is the first year for us. They are not the cheapest but it's worth it to me for the quality, the service, and the follow-ups. They did some planting for me last fall and every landscaping need I can imagine they can do. For the work they do my yard sparkles. Their price is really a little higher, but I am willing to pay that after dealing with some of the stuff I have dealt with.

They were great. They determined a really good way to save me money on that by using certain heads and just capping some, instead of moving them. So it would have been better for them to move the heads, but they did what was best for me. Great service and very timely.

The person came out as planned and looked around but wasn't much help at all as far as advising me what I should plant. I told him I know nothing about plants but shared some ideas that friends and family had suggested; however, he didn't really offer anything except to suggest the ugliest shrubs known to man. He told me he would go back to the office and work out an estimate based on what we had talked about. That was a year ago and I am still waiting for the estimate!!!! I do remember asking him if they offered a discount to Angie's List members and when he said no I said the reason I was asking was because I didn't want to spend thousands of dollars and he said, "Oh, you're going to spend thousands of dollars." I believe that knowing I didn't want to spend that much money kept him from even sending me an estimate. I am disappointed that he couldn't even be bothered to outline what the costs would be so that I could make up my own mind.

They do great work. They clearly communicate what they did and why. They ask for feedback and give suggestions on what I can do to keep my lawn healthy.

It was a painless experience. Diane came out to the house, talked with me about what I wanted and took photos. In a week she presented a plan. A week later the crew came out on time, got to work, cleaned up and I was left with a great area. When I called and mentioned that the mulch was piled on the house the complaint was dealt with immediately. I would most certainly use this company again.

They had a person come out, walk around, and sketch out a plan for our home. The price is excellent.

We have decided to work with them to develop a full landscaping plan to stage projects over several seasons. We are very pleased with the level of professionalism, knowledge, and flexibility demonstrated by every profesisonal we met at Salsbery Brothers and we anticipate a strong working relationships going forward with implementation of the plan.

It has been a very good experience. They are excellent in everything that they do. The prices are competetive. They are not the highest, that is one reason that I use them. They are excellent with punctuality and professionalism.
