Around 8:30a, Jason called and said that they got stuck on another job and would it be okay if they came a little later. It was not a big deal, we were able to accommodate the change. The individual that came out was really friendly and knowledgable. He knocked it out quickly. We are very happy with the result and will definitely use them in the future!
Description of Work: wired and installed a new plug with it's own breaker in our garage for a refrigerator.

+ -1 moreWhen it occurred the problem seemed like a nightmare. Fans that had been wired after the home was built were suddenly not working after working fine for 4+ years. Rickel was able to send someone out the same day. He was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. The problem was gone when he left but he did not actually know what the problem was. I was charged $260 (about 4 hours of work so not really bad). The next day the problem returned. This time I was able to isolate it to a bad outlet or loose wire. I called Jason because he seemed interested in taking care of his customers. I explained what went on, he apologized sincerely and insisted on just tearing up the check we wrote. I asked him what he thought was fair as his guy worked hard just was not able to fix the problem and he felt the fair thing to do was not charge me. I always say everyone looks good when things go well, it is when they don't that you find out if you are working with a good company or not. I will do business with Jason again, because I know if things don't go well he will do the right thing. I am very impressed and that is why in spite of them not fixing the problem I gave them all A's except on quality I gave them a B. One lesson learned, if you ever have electrical issues. Unplug everything before you call an electrician. It might help you isolate the issue to a bad appliance or outlet.
Description of Work: Several lights in my kids room's were not working. They were on the ceiling fans which had been installed about 4 years ago. The electrician came out and investigated the issue. When he left the lights were working but we had not really identified the problem.

Description of Work: Jason and Roger are professional, kind, courteous, honest, and exceptionally fair. We are selling our home and during the inspection process, it was discovered several electrical components were in need of repair. Roger's estimate for the work was much more reasonable than the first contractor who came out at the recommendation of our real estate agent. Jason came to actually do the work and was just the same as Roger in his approach - timely, knowledgeable and efficient. As luck would have it, our air condition went out the morning Jason was scheduled to do the electrical work. It was 86 degrees in the house! On top of that, the overhead light in the basement had been carelessly unplugged by the home inspector, leaving Jason to work in very dim lighting. Without complaint, Jason expertly addressed all of the electrical issues that had been itemized by the inspector. Careful attention to detail and forthrightness about what did and did not need to be fixed made us certain that he was the man for the job. He worked continually, diligently, and steadily, despite the heat, without even any type of break. This man is not only exceptionally skilled, a true expert in his area, he is everything you would hope for in someone that you invite into your home to work on your personal property. We would most certainly not only have him back to work on anything in our home, current or future, we would highly recommend Jason to anyone who wants a fabulous job done by a competent, wonderful guy.

We went with him because he came up with a solution for installing our canned lights in the den, without drywall damage. He was able to come out to do the work within a week's time. He arrived promptly, did the work as expected, was very professional and cleaned up afterwards. This was a very positive experience and we will use him again for our electrical needs.

+ -1 moreWe contacted Jason Rickel and asked him to give us a quote for several electrical jobs we needed done. He came to the house as scheduled and went over each job and gave us a written quote. We gave him the OK to proceed. Before he could begin, we needed to purchase the 3 fans for the bedrooms. Once in hand, we contacted him to schedule the maintenance. He came on-time on the date specified and installed the 3 bedroom fans and fixed one wall switch. Because it was raining hard outside, we set up a new date for the installation of the attic fan. A couple of days later he and his crew installed the attic fan which Jason purchased and also put in a dimmer switch in one bathroom. On both occasions when the work was finished, he and his crew completely cleaned up the working areas. The ceiling fans/lights work beautifully and we can feel its much cooler now on the second floor. Also, the attic fan has reduced the amount of time that the air conditioning runs which resulted in a lower first electic bill. Overall, we are delighted with the service and workmanship and would definitely use and recommend Jason's services in the future. Thank you!!

+ -1 moreI called Jason, the owner of Rickel Home Improvement to install a crystal chandelier in our bedroom. There wasn't any wiring there, so he cut a hole in the ceiling and put in the wiring. The extra chain was in the chandelier, but for some reason they didn't notice it, and the chandelier was hung too high. I called and told him about the problem, and we made a date for him to come and rectify it. His worker arrived on time and added the extra chain. I also had him chane the chandelier over the diningroom table and kitchen table. Everything was done as I had hoped. I am very pleased with their work, and would definitely hire Rickel Home Improvement again.
Description of Work: Install wiring, box and a crystal chandelier. Tie to existing wall switch. Install a dimmer switch. Pick up and install hardware This was done in master bedroom. At a later date, 6/17/20ll, they removed existing chandelier from diningroom, and replaced it with another one which we supplied. They then removed the chandelier from over the kitchen table, and replaced it with the one which was removed from the diningroom.

+ 0 moreI found Rickel on Angies List. I called the phone number and Jason Rickel answered. We set-up a time for him to come to the house and take a look at the work I had for him to do. Jason showed up exactly when he said he would. He looked at several potential projects I had. I told Jason that I would need to have him fix my electrical work in stages. He seemed agreeable to that and told me that he would send me an itemized estimate for each project via email. I asked Jason how he charges and he said that he charges an hourly rate and then told me what that rate is. Sounded reasonable to me. Before he left, Jason went out to investigate the garage door issue. At first, everything seemed to be in order and Jason couldn't figure out what was causing the current to go through the garage door and emit shocks. He persevered for over 30 minutes until he found the issue. It seems the electrical component that the garage door opener was installed backwards. Jason repaired that for us. I scheduled Rickel to come to my house the following Friday to switch out the light fixture and change the outlets from 2-prong to three prong. Jason didn't come but sent an associate. The associate was also prompt, friendly, and very professional. When it came time to pay the bill, there were no surprises. I multiplied the time Rickel spent at my house by the hourly rate he stated and my bill was spot-on! I am having Rickel back out to my house to work on other projects.
Description of Work: Rickel did the following work at my home: Performed troubleshooting to find out why our garage door was emitting shocks when touched and then fixed the problem. Switched out and old ceiling fixture and an installed a new one. Converted four old 2-prong outlets into three pronged outlets for us.

+ -1 moreThe recessed lighting and quad receptacle work perfectly. The motion detector lights stay on continually. The yard night lights stay on continually. The dedicated circuit for the kitchen heater was accidentally drilled through the drain pipe for the second floor bathroom. Water has damaged the dry wall in the kitchen and the utility room. A support beam for the home was considerably dampened. Jason's insurance is handling the financial consequences. It was an honest mistake. I am still waiting to hear from Jason regarding the outdoor lights that will never go off. I have used Jason' s services five times since February for a total of $4,543. Most of the work is highly professional. He leaves loose ends, however, and is slow to remedy them. He has had to come back to install light dimmers because he forgot to bring them the first time. On March 17th, he brought the kitchen heater out. He did not schedule enough time to install, although I had to pay for it. He came back to install it on March 28th. Jason provides quality and professional work in most cases and I recommend him.
Description of Work: Jason installed two 2 head motion detectors on the rear corners of my home. He installed a kitchen heater on the kitchen ceiling. He worked on the yard lights and replaced the light bulbs. He installed a quad receptacle. He installed recessed lighting in the upstairs office.

+ -1 moreI called him three times before he returned a call. He said he could quote a price on repairs by just looking at the report rather than coming to the house. That was not what we wanted and I was willing to pay him to come look at the areas on the report and the general electrical set up of the home. I sent him the report and he did not respond back. I called and left another message (in the meantime, I went with another electrician). He finally returned the call and said he would send his quote that night. Two days later the quote arrived. He does fine work, but if he's overworked or doesn't have time, he should have just said so.
Description of Work: I had used Jason before and he had done an excellent job, so I called him again for electrical help with regard to a home inspection report I had.

It took him a full day (split over 2 days due to lighting) and the conditions outside were brutal, but he kept going. I have worked with Jason extensively for the past several years on many projects (lighting, ceiling fans, home theater installation, fixing electrical issues) and he is the best electrician (and most cost effective) I've ever worked with.

+ -1 moreJason was prompt, efficient and pleasant to work with. He was straightforward about his charges and got back to us right away with his estimate. He was a lot quicker at this than the other contractors we called. His prices were great. We had some delays due to the manufacturing schedule of our kiln, so I had to reschedule a couple of times, and he was cheerful about that. No problems. The wiring looks very substantial and completely professional. He finished everything in one day. We would have him back for anything electrical again, and we highly recommend him.
Description of Work: We were installing a ceramics kiln, so we needed to have 240 current run into our basement from the breaker box in the garage. We also needed a regular 110 outlet installed and a fan installed on the interior of the outside wall. This required making a hole through the bricks and an exterior vent installed for the fan. He also installed a fuse disconnect switch for the 240 line.
