Description of Work: Wow! What an HONEST company! Our dishwasher wasn't draining. We called Sears, explained the problem, and they were going to come out for $129 service charge, plus parts. So we thought we would call a local service to see if they would be less expensive, and because we prefer to keep it local, anyway Called Matthew Appliance - the gentleman said he'd be happy to help, but that we should try a couple of things first. One of those things worked, and we have a working dishwasher again! He could have easily come out, charged us $100, and we would have never realized it was a really simple fix. No doubt, this is the company we will call for ANY and ALL future appliance issues. Honesty is so important!

Description of Work: We had them come out to check on our refrigerator. I can not say enough about them. They came out very quickly and gave us a lot of tips. They were very proffesionable and reasonably priced.

Description of Work: We had 3 problems: our washer was "skating" during its cycles, our electric dryer would not shut off and our icemaker didn't produce many ice cubes. The washer was quickly fixed by one hit of a hammer to one of the washer "legs" (which had gotten stuck in the up position). The dryer was finally analyzed to have a faulty on/off switch. (Mr. Mathew needed to order the part). He couldn't fix the icemaker but promised to call the manufacturer to see if a similar replacement part would solve the problem. On Aug. 22, Mr. Mathew called and said the dryer part was in and he wanted to try something else to fix the icemaker. He returned on Aug 23 and installed the dryer switch, then began working on the icemaker . He finally got it to work again--and it's been working just fine since then. Note that the total price of $286 above includes his charges for both dates, Aug 19 & Aug 23. We're really pleased with Mr. Mathew's professionalism, knowledge and persistence in diagnosing and fixing our appliance problems.

Description of Work: Have used this company in the past so when my dishwasher leaked, I called them without a second thought. I called on Holy Saturday so they were closed, but he returned my call first thing Easter Monday. We discussed my dishwasher leaking and rather than coming to the house to investigate the problem, which would have required a service call fee, he discussed several things that could be causing the leakage and gave me easy things to try (e.g. not using so much detergent) and watch for to see it the leakage continued. If it did, he said he would be happy to service the dishwasher, but didn't want to charge me for some things I could easily try on my own. I really appreciated his helpfulness and honesty! The first thing he told me to try has worked, but I will call him if I have any other large appliance issues in the future.

Description of Work: I had a dryer that was turning off occasionally. John came out and examined the dryer and told me that there was nothing mechanically wrong with the dryer - that my problem was probably created by lint build up in the 20 ft filter from the dryer to the outside wall. He gave me the name of someone that can clean this out at a reasonable price.

Description of Work: Replaced two burners and recptls on stove and replaced a knob. Was efficient, prompt, and personable.

Description of Work: No Cool Refrigerator - Upon arrival he found that t-stat had malfunctioned. Luckily the appliance store in (1/2 mi away) had the part and he was able to pick up and repair right away.

Description of Work: Dishwasher making an awful sound. It seemed to grow in intensity over time. I called on a Saturday and found that they were closed. I left a message and received a return call on Monday morning. They were here and had it fixed by 12:30 on Monday. He found a couple of metal pieces in the bottom compartment that were causing the issue.

Description of Work: He immediately knew the problem after I explained what was occurring. He was here a short time. Very pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. This is my second time to use them. I would/will difinetely use Mathew Apliance Repair again.

Description of Work: My dryer stopped mid cycle and wouldn't turn back on. John Mathew came over and said the belt was broken. He was here for about an hour, charged $42.5 for the belt, and $65 for labor/service call. And I received a $10 discount for being an AL customer. I was pleased.

Description of Work: Replaced heating unit in my Whirlpool dryer. Came within 4 hours of my call for service. Repairman had part in truck so the dryer was fixed on the same day it broke. Very pleased; especially since I had a mountain of clothes from my recent vacation.

Description of Work: I called to have my washer and dryer repaired. They came the next day they could have come the same day but, it didn't fit my schedule. They checked both machines and said that they were both fine. My dryer vent needed to be cleaned. They recommended an excellent company to clean the vent and put a larger cage on the outside of it to enable lint to get out. They made recommendations on settings for the washer also, they handled the bill over the phone and when I called later because I forgot to mention the coupon, they applied it after the fact. Very professional and I will use them again.

Description of Work: Called Mathew's to repair an ice maker in our 12 year old Whirlpool side by side fridge. Got their name off of Angie's list. They were able to work me in the day I called, were prompt in arriving at promised time, explained what the problem was, quoted a repair cost and since I approved it, made the repair right then with parts on stock on their truck. Valve was main problem, but we chose to get the valve and a new ice maker. Repair Technician said the ice maker might have lasted longer, but it was beginning to have coating chip off (not good ) so I we said lets avoid another call later and after all it is 12 years old.

Description of Work: Repaired Refrigerator that was not cooling - came within 24 hours of initial call, ordered part and returned to repair within promised time.

Description of Work: Had a leaky ice maker, called them on a Friday morning, and surprisingly they offered to come out that day!! Work was performed exactly as promised, he was able to secure the right part and the fridge was fixed by early afternoon at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend this company, and will definitely use them in the future.
