Tried to get Home Depot to design a kitchen remodel, but one week after signing up for the service, we still had not heard from the person who was supposed to schedule an appointment to take measurements. Called Home Depot three times to get some resolution, each time having to leave a message with someone in a different department because nobody was available in Kitchen/Bath to handle my call. After a week of trying to get a hold of someone to schedule, we spoke with a manager and asked to be refunded for the amount we were charged for the measurements. The manager tried to make excuses about how they had 7 days to contact us, but the Kitchen designer told us we were guaranteed to be contacted within 48 hours.
Description of Work: Signed up for kitchen design and installation, paid the $69 fee for someone to take measurements. After a week of calls to Home Depot to get someone to contact us for a measurement appointment, gave up.

We had a terrible time with the first person they sent out. He didn't show up and when he did he didn't know a whole lot about what he was doing. We called and complained and they sent someone who was great out. The guy that ended up doing all the work for us was exceptional. It looks great now and it is a great design. They contracting someone out of Minnesota to do the work which made it more difficult to get things done as well.
Description of Work: They put in a new sink and cabinets in one bathroom.

We loved the countertops. We have to love them because we gave up our season tickets to pay for them. The color of the countertop is coffee dark brown. The price was cheaper than we expected.

Very good. Intallers worked as a team to quickly remove old microwave and install new one correctly. Debris and dust was cleaned up. New referigerator was installed and old one taken to garage for pickup by Salvation Army later. Installers pointed out easy way to change settings on referigerator and move it should need arise. They tested both units before leaving.
Description of Work: We purchased a LG french door referigerator and a LG over the stove microwave oven. Color of referigerator was white, so it took about a week or so for it to arrive. Home Depot delivery people delivered and installed new referigerator and microwave and removed the old appliances.

They were punctual. They gave me a reasonable idea of what is was going to cost when I went in to pick out the doors they were a lot of help. I also contacted them about siding that came off my house and they gave me a contractor and that contractor responded the next day and the day after that he was out here fixing it. I would use them again for finding contractors.

I went to home depot to buy a storm/screen door. I picked the top-of-the-line Anderson door and I opted for their $97 installation service. Greg in Millwork had me measure six points on the door top-bottom on the left, middle, and right as well as side-side at the top, middle, and bottom. I gave him the measurements, accurate to within 1/16th of an inch. He confirmed that all were well within the Anderson's requirements for the standard 36and quot; door. A couple weeks later the door arrived, the scheduler called, and I thought we'd be all set. The day the installer came, he said that the door wasn't square so he couldn't do the installation without additional cost and time. I wanted to talk to the store about the surprise costs, but he couldn't wait for that, so he left and said that Dawn, the scheduler, would call back to rescheduler in the next day or two. I called the store three times, but Greg was never available and I never got a call back and the scheduler never called. I spoke to Larry who promised to have both the expiditer call and the scheduler call, but neither ever did. I finally went into the store and found Greg for myself. Greg explained that they would need to replace all of my Brick Mold for $65 and that there would be an extra trip charge of $50 for coming back. I reluctantly agreed to pay. The installer came back (about 45 minutes past the end of the two-hour scheduled window), took the brick mold off the house and decided that he couldn't do the install again. This time he said that the house door wasn't installed correctly and that would prevent him from correctly installing the storm door. Once again, he promised to have someone call. Once again, I received no call. Once again, I returned to the store in person. This time I spoke to Tony, the manager. He said that he would look into it, get me a quote for the extra work on top of the first extra work for which I'd already paid and call me back. Nearly a week later I hadn't heard from Tony, so I went to the store for a fourth time. Tony wasn't available, so I left him my business card with a note requesting a call. He called me a few hours later and didn't know who I was. When I reminded him of our discussion, he had me rehash the entire process again. He said that he hadn't done anything about it yet. I asked him to refund all of the installation fees and just let me pick up the door. He agreed, but couldn't do the refund himself, so he had Ingred call me and then I had to come in to complete the return and pick up the door. So, after about five weeks, nearly a dozen phone calls, countless broken commitments, one late arrival, five visits to the store, an extra $105 above the original price, and a whole lot of aggrivation and broken promises, I have a door, but it isn't installed. Fortunately, I've found someone that says he can install the door without all of that drama. I'll report on that experience once the door is actually installed. The bottom line for me is that regardless of whatever technical issues there may or may not be with the door frame into which the storm door was to be mounted, Home Depot's customer service, communications, follow-through, and customer service was incredibly horrible. I'll still shop there for merchandise, but I wouldn't use them for any services again even if they through them in for free.

We went to a few places and the prices for a new water heater were similar, but the salesperson at Home Depot informed us that our local gas company was offering a $100 rebate, which nobody else mentioned to us. The water heater was installed the next day. The installers caused a leak when replacing the old water heater, but fixed it immediately, no trouble for us at all. It didn't take them long. The only thing bad I have to say is that the instructions for the water heater were attached to a bag on the side of the unit that ended up full of water, so the instructions were saturated.
Description of Work: Eight years into a seven year warranty, we discovered that our water heater was leaking, so it had to be replaced.

We ordered a new refrigerator and dryer on Black Friday(the day after Thanksgiving) with a scheduled delivery date of December 29th. On the afternoon of December 28th the delivery for both appliances was confirmed by Home Depot. (We were moving to a new home without a refrigerator over the weekend) Ironically, a few hours after the delivery appointment was confirmed I was shopping for paint at Home Depot when GE Appliance called my cell phone to tell me that my refrigerator was on back-order and not available until late January. At first I thought it was a joke...it was no joke. And a month without a refrigerator that had already been reconciled on my credit card bill was not funny either. So, I walked back to see the appliance salesman, Steven, who has sold me several appliances and he was very quick to solicit the help of the store manager, Tony Davis. Both agreed that informing us at 4pm prior to the expected delivery day was less-than-acceptable. Mr. Davis did confirm that there were no refrigerators available with the finish that we had purchased, but he was not willing to stop there. In the end, he worked with GE and other Home Depot personnel to find us a similar finish of the same model and have it delivered to our new home a couple of days after we moved in. And, he ensured that we were compensated for our troubles. His dedication to his customers is reflective of his dedication to his company, and to be successful in providing excellent service and deliver quality products one must have both. My husband and I are avid Home Depot shoppers...and we travel to the Michigan Road store even though there is another Home Depot that is closer to our new home. Mr. Davis and his associates have earned our patronage over and again.

It was ok. When I was at the store, I told them that I was going to buy the storm door from a different store. I told them I was going to pay to have them install both doors I purchased the front door and the storm door from another company. They ageed to do so in the store. They stated they would not install the storm door. They agreed to do so when I purchased the door and then they stated they could not do it later. I am not upset with the installers, but the managers at Home Depot.

I canceled my order and demanded a refund. The customer service was poor as they waited just 1 hr prior to installation the first time before communicating the problem to me, and they brought the defective carpet to the house the second time. I have wasted a lot of time attempting to complete my home project waiting on Home Depot. The price was attractive but the product and service was unacceptable.
Description of Work: We purchased carpet from this company because the price was very impressive. They attempted to install the carpet twice and both times they failed. The first time the company found a defect in the carpet and did not even bring it to the house. The second time they did bring the carpet and started to install it but again found a defect in the carpet and had to take it back to the store.

We ordered the countertops in April. Home Depot told us it would take a couple of weeks to get someone out to measure for the countertops and then it would be about 3-4 weeks before the countertops would be delivered and installed. The agreement I signed indicated 60 days maximum. The countertops were measured within two weeks, but it took until August before they were installed (100 days). I called several times to find out the status of the countertops, but I was told things were progressing and I should get them soon. Finally in July a customer service rep told me the company making the countertops moved locations and there was a delay in delivery. I would have liked to have known this before I ordered. The original price was good if the countertops had been delivered on schedule, but it was not worth it having to 100 days to get the new countertops. Home Depot should have told us what was happening. I was a bit annoyed when the installation coordinator called me up and told me the installation date instead of scheduling a date. We of course were busy on that date and had to re-schedule. Who schedules an installation without asking the customer? The installation went smoothly. It took about 3 1/2 hours and the countertops do look good. Admittedly most of the blame falls on the countertop company, they were the ones that moved and could not get production ramped back up quickly, but Home Depot should have kept us informed of what was happening.

I told the representative the product I wanted and the amount and asked for a price and delivery options. He said he would find out and call me back. When he called, he left a message that they would need to coordinate my order with a regular store order (since mine would only be about 10% of a truckload) so he needed to know when I needed it before he could give me a price. I gave him a two week time frame. This doesn't make sense to me. The product should have a price. I never got a unit price or any information on delivery.

It was during the grand opening of this location. Every employee who I passed said hello. Brought cut chain links for me and others helped me find the right nuts, bolts and washers. They also helped me find the right sockets for a tool I already owned. Everyone was new and still learning the ropes, so to speak, but had good attitudes.
