I contacted Critter Control of Hamilton County (CCHC) based on advice from Angie's List Customer service as I began to smell a dead animal in my bathroom. I was very explicit with the CCHC rep when I called to explain the problem. Essentially, there was a fowl odor in my bathroom which has faces no exterior walls in my house. I could not see any place or holes where an animal/bird could have entered. The rep didn't suggest any solutions or alternatives I could consider and scheduled the service call. She also notified me of the cost $150. When the CCHC rep came to my house, within 5 minutes of looking in the bathroom, he notified me that it was a dead mice that probably fell through one of the interior walls of the bathroom. The rep was very nice and professional but notified me that I can do one of 2 things 1) tolerate the smell for a couple of weeks by airing out the bathroom and the smell will eventually dissipate or 2) pay an extra $60 to remove the baseboards in the hope to find the dead mice. Obviously, I chose the first option but felt very violated that his 5 minutes of inspection and advice cost me $134.10 with the 10% Angie's List discount! While I don't think the person who came in did anything wrong, the business model for CCHC is very wrong. That is a lot of wasted money for 5 minutes!! The rep who took my initial call could have offered this suggestion first before scheduling the home visit but said nothing in this regard. The rep for the home visit did even say that they get many calls like this, so I would have hoped the right thing to do would be to provide such customer service even if it resulted in no business for them. I would have given them a high rating just for being customer -focused and not trying to take advantage of them. Alternatively, they could have offered a lower price. I am very disappointed and would not recommend their service to anyone. It doesn't feel right to treat your customers this way. Sorry!

Removed mbr info - We are very sorry that our service did not meet your expectations. We do charge a service call fee for our technicians to come and diagnose customers wildlife concerns. The representatives in our office are unable to diagnose issues for homeowners over the phone as, with wildlife, the issues could be varying. Our office staff are not wildlife technicians. We did, however, offer the suggestion, when asked, of opening a window to help with the smell until we could get someone out to provide service, which you stated was not possible, due to the location of the room. Our technician reports that he did offer suggestions, which you declined, due to cost. Unfortunately, we do have to charge for our services...we are a private company, and not a community service.

I called critter control to help remove a colony of birds that have nested outside my home and were attacking whenever people were in the front and back of the home. They were very punctual arriving on time and also knowledgeable about the laws and rules regarding live nest removal and took care of my nests quickly. Overall the tech that did the removing was only at my house for a very short time, which was great, butI felt it was a bit expensive for the amount of time it took for the service call. But I guess that is the price you have to pay to have this type of thing taken care of professionally. Overall a great job!

He looked at the area. My biggest concern was that the baby bunnies were still there, and safe. He looked, and they were. He explained the cycle of the mom finding an area, and digging a place to safely keep them. That she returns to feed them and eventually the cycle tells them its time to venture out. Then I will see fur and grass in that area. Do a quick double check that everyone's out, and fill with dirt, and plant grass seed. very educational. Because he did no work he did not charge me, which I thought was extremely kind.

Everything went great. He did the additional work in 2011. He was great then, and was now. I did not get charged. I saved the cover that fell off, so he was kind enough to not charge me to re-attach.
Description of Work: Re-attached a bird cover (not sure what the actual name is...) over vent that fell off outside due to wind. He put additional screws to ensure attachment. Checked other cover, which was a little loose, also put on additional screws. My dryer one was fine.

Terry identified the opning under the eave where birds were nesting and recommneded a way to close the opening included a partial dismantling of the wood surrounding the opening and fashioning a new wood enclosure/seal with new wood he purchased fro Home Depot. Terry cut the wood the size of the hole (a tight space), removed all of the nestingmaterial, made certain that no new/baby birds were present and effected the repairs finishing off with caulking. terry also placed a cage around a dryer vent and caulked another questionalbe opening. Terry even offered to come back and paint the new wood. Very pleasant man, professional, prompt and easy to work with. For the $$$ spent, an excellent value.

They did not charge me anything since they were not sure if the mole was active. They were not sure they could get me results so they did not want to have me sign up for anything. They were able to come out in a timely manner. They were honest and friendly and I will be using them again in the future.

Tracy went over his process with me. He set a trap and came back the next day to check it. If nothing is caught he keeps checking the trap. Within a few days we had our squirrel. Tracy sent me a photo of the squirrel that he caught. He set the trap a second time to make sure there weren't more. He then sealed the entry hole. He also repaired another area along the roof where a board was coming off. I was extremely happy with his services.

Tracy arrived withing the promised time frame and performed a full inspection. He took pictures of conditions in the attic and showed us the obvious signs of mouse infestation. He returned the following day with a number of poison bait stations which he stationed around the exterior of the house. He promised to check up on thing in 10-14 days and expects the problem to be fully. rectified in about 90 days. It was obvious to us that Tracy knows his critters and he handles his work in a most professional manner.
