Carmel Tailoring Fine Clothier

I brought in two pairs of mens pants to be shortened by adding a cuff. I had the pants already rolled to the cuff and length needed. I went in four days later to pick up the pants and the pants had been hemmed, not cuffed. I showed her what was wrong and she said the ticket said hem not cuff. I explained that I asked for the pants to be cuffed and had brought them in cuffed and to the length we needed. She then tells me that when most customers say cuff they mean hem so they hemmed the pants. I was very clear again that the pants were to be shortened and cuffed, not hemmed. She said they would fix them and I could pick them up the same evening. I went back the same evening and the pants were done as promised and cuffed however the cuffs had stitching through the middle of the cuff on both pairs of pants. She then tells me that it will come out when I get them drycleaned. I showed her and explained that they are holes from stitching not just marks on the pants. She said they cuffed the pants as far as they could and there was nothing she could do about it. I took the pants, went home, my husband tried them on and both pair of pants are actually longer than when I first brought them in!! These were brand new, never before worn pants and they now may be ruined. I will certainly try to have a reputable company fix the disaster Carmel Tailoring did both pair of pants. We have used this company many times in the past and never had any problems however it has been some time. This was very poor service especially when it should have been a very simple job to do and I brought the pants in cuffed to the length needed. I will not use this company again and I will not recommend them to anyone else as I have done in the past. Poor workmanship, poor service and they cannot follow a customer's request.

My daughter tried on the dress, it was marked, an estimate was given and a date for pick up. Service was very polite. Dress done well, on time, and for the price quoted.

My daughter's prom dress was purchased online and arrived on Monday April 27 in need of alterations, The prom was May 2, so we didn't have much time. I searched for tailors in the area and found this company and was impressed with the postive reviews on Angie's list. They agreed to get the dress done by Thursday when we dropped it off Tuesday. The staff was very friendly and helpful and did not make us feel as though we should have done this sooner. The other customers in the store all had good things to say as they had previous experience with this tailor. It was done on time and it looked great!

Very good experience. The owner was very gracious to me and wanted the pants to fit properly, not just make the changes I requested. I observed her with other customers and she has the best customer relations attitude toward everyone. It took 2-3 fittings and they were ready when she said they would be. Very pleased with the work, recommend Carmel Alterations highly and I will return.

She did an amazing job with the alterations. It is virtually impossible to see where the changes were made. It now fits like a glove. Thank you Carmel Alterations! I will definitely go back for any future work.

The work she did for me was just like always...perfect. Kay does excellent work, is very friendly, and always meets whatever turnaround time line I need. I won't use anyone else.

It went extremely well. I wasn't sure how they were going to be able to shorten the dress, but I suppose that's why I'm not a seamstress because they knew just what to do. Kay was very friendly and pretty accommodating with scheduling my fittings. I was also very pleased with the price, as I have had bridesmaid dresses altered by the store where purchased for the same price I paid Carmel Alterations to do all the work they did on my wedding dress.

Staff were very professional and friendly. They were unable to match exactly the current zipper, but showed me a very good substitute. When I returned for pick up, the clothes were ready. Check out was easy-I had to wait a little because two other people were also there for pick up. The work done is excellent-I am very impressed and happy with it.

It has been good and I do not have any complaints. They do what I ask them to do and they have done them accurately. My order is always ready for me when I get there.

Quality was very good, but it seemed to take a long time to perform the work...two fairly simple seam repairs took a whole week. I arrived to pick up the items on the scheduled day and time, and they forgot to finish one of the items and so had to do it quickly while I waited. Price also seemed high for the minor amount of work done. I'd probably use them again because the quality was good and they are conveniently located for me. But I will be sure to give them plenty of time to do the work.

I was in a wedding and needed alterations done on a dress in a short time frame.

She was very punctual and pleasant. She did an excellent job on the hem and it looked like the original.

Kay is fabulous! My pants were new last year and I just didn't want to shop to replace them. She made all 5 pairs fit perfectly and was wonderful to work with. She also does household items and I'm going to ask her to make new cushion covers for my screened in porch furniture!

Everything was ready, on time, and very professionally done. The seamstress worked well with my daughter to get the pants at the right length. Everything was ready in less than a week.

Kay did a wonderful job on a cocktail dress I purchased but had missing bead work on the shoulder straps. The dress came with a small packet of replacement beads but not enough to complete the whole task since Kay spotted missing areas of beads on the bust. I had purchased extra beads, believing they would match but Kay recognized better than I that they would not work. She made the necessary repairs with the existing supply and the dress looks great. Kay also altered my daughter's bridal gown one year ago and did an amazing job. The dress was too large in the bust and had a lot of bead work. She did a wonderful job altering the bust, changing a sequined monogram on the train (which we didn't believe could be done) and added multiple bustles to the train so she could dance at the wedding. She also altered my mother of the bride dress and bustled the short train. Kay altered my younger daughter's bridesmaid dress and made her look stunning. I've used this company many times and have been very pleased.

The price was great and the alteration was fine however I was looking for a more professional result. I can sew and can do the basics. They did the basics. I took it to them to do a professional alteration I was not confident in doing. The price was reasonable.

When I went to pick up the comforter, I was elated at its condition! I couldn't believe how beautiful it looked. And Kay said she would only be charging me $35. I couldn't have been more pleased with the way it turned out. Kay is a magician!

When I dropped off the pants, I got to see the owner, Kay, who is always very personable. I had my 16 year old along for measuring, as the 4 pairs of khakis to be hemmed were his. Kay quickly measured and marked one of the legs of one of the pairs of pants to be hemmed. I told her that I'd like to leave some length in the hem so that the pants could be let out during the school year as my son grows. She assured me that would not be a problem. I asked her if I could get them back within a few days and she was again very accommodating. When I returned to pick up the pants, they looked beautiful, as if they had been hemmed when I'd purchased them. I was very pleased, her terrific talent and customer service truly never surprise me.

I was asked to be in a wedding out of town, but did not receive bridesmaid dress until 9 days before the wedding. Nobody was able to do all the things needed for the dress before the wedding. Called Carmel Alterations and she was able to do the dress without an appointment. Kay was very nice and helpful! The dress needed to be done in parts, not all at once. Kay was concerned with me having to do too much driving since I didn't live in the area. She even did part of the work while I waited. I was so happy with the work, I am going to use her for my wedding dress alterations this fall!

This experience was great! My dress was delayed in arriving and we had close to one month to get all the alterations finished. We visited the office each week and had very little wait time in the office. Kay was wonderful to help us out. I had to delay the first appointment about four times due to receiving the dress late. They were very patient and very helpful in getting my dress finished in plenty of time. My wedding dress was very very beautiful once all the alterations were complete.

I went here because the other place I went to made a mess of the dress. They got the dress done within two weeks for me. They set the time and date when you can come pick it up.

Kay is a wonderful woman. She really knows her business! I've never found someone who could do a whole dress in such a short time (less than a week) with perfection! She really knows her stuff!
