THERE ARE TOO MANY FACTORS INVOLVED IN A COMPRESSOR CHANGE TO QUOTE IT WITHOUT SEEING IT. 1ST FACTOR, WE ARE TRUSTING SOMEONE ELSE'S DIAGNOSIS THAT WE DON'T EVEN KNOW IS ACCURATE. BESIDES THAT, IS THE SYSTEM CONTAMINATED WITH BURNED OIL AND ACID THAT WILL HAVE TO BE CLEANED UP? IS THERE A BUILT-IN FILTER-DRYER THAT WILL HAVE TO BE CUT OUT AND REPLACED? IS THE SYSTEM LOW OR EMPTY OF REFRIGERANT INDICATING A LEAK THAT WILL HAVE TO BE FOUND AND FIXED? WHAT IS ACCESSIBILITY OF UNIT? JUST THOSE 4 VARIABLES CAN AFFECT THE PRICE BY $100 OR MORE. MOST HOMEOWNERS WHO CALL AROUND FOR QUOTES ARE AFTER THE LOWEST BID AND IF WE DON''T QUOTE ACCURATELY AND FIND AFTER LOOKING THAT WE HAVE TO DO MORE FOR MORE COST, THEY WILL BE EVEN MORE UNHAPPY THAN IF WE DON'T QUOTE AT ALL.
