Provided detailed estimate and discussed issues prior to starting work.? Found several items that I had not known to be in need of repair/replacement in addition to scheduled maintainence. Obtained parts and completed work with no issues.? Although the total cost seems high, it was very reasonable when the amount of work is considered.
Description of Work: Replaced air conditioner compressor ($1100, 4/16) Previous work included general diagnosis and repair of two vechiles (200,000 and 140,000 miles). 2000 Avalon:? Replaced radiator & hoses, timing belt (including water pump), PS & alternator belts, tie rod, control arms ($2500, 3/16) 2004 Maxima:? Rear brakes, oil pan & oil pressure switch gaskets, rear sway bars, front 1/2 axle, belts ($1140, 4/16)

They use high-quality and brand-name parts. As far as I can tell the workmanship is good. I think that their prices are quite competitive. Work was done within estimated time frame. So I would recommend this place to a friend.

I called the Carmel store and spoke to Dave and explained the issue I had with my car (transmission fluid leak) and they told me it was okay to drive short distances that day but to bring it in the next day. I did and they told me it would be until the end of the day. Dave called and said I have a radiator leak also (there was another spot on the garage floor but I was hoping it was rain water) and my back breaks were worn pretty badly 2-3mm so I had them repair those also and they held the car until the next day. He also told me about my headlights being out on one side but that was more than I wanted to spend ($200 extra since the grill needs to come off-thanks Jeep) so I picked it up the end of the next day. Dave communicated great and his prices were 20% less than the dealership pricing. It was also convenient that I could drop off the car after hours with the key drop and pick up after hours. Thanks Dave.
Description of Work: The Carmel repair shop replaced the condenser that cooled my Jeep's transmission fluid, replaced a leaking radiator coil and replaced the rear brakes.

Highly recommend and was so impressed with this company. I am new to the Brownsburg area and drive a newer vehicle (warranty ran out in Dec), so have never needed a mechanic before now. I was nervous just picking a place so I looked up mechanics on Angie's List, and based on the positive reviews I chose Mears. My car started acting strange on a Sunday evening and my engine light came on. I was able to get a diagnostics reading from On-Star and they told me what code my car was throwing. I called Mears first thing Monday morning and an appointment was made for that Wednesday. Bob at Mears told me what to do if it happened again in the meantime. Well, Monday morning after dropping my son off at school, my car powered off in the middle of driving. It started shaking violently and the engine just turned itself off while I was driving. I pulled over, turned it off and waited like Bob said, and it restarted fine. I was less than a half mile from Mears, so I decided I would drop it off and they could keep it until Wednesday when I had made my appointment (I didn't feel safe driving with my kids). As I was about to pull into there parking lot it did the same thing again and I basically coasted into the first parking space. I went inside and was greeted by Kevin and I explained what had happened and that I wanted to just leave it until Wednesday and that my husband would come pick me up. He was so polite and told me it was no problem and he would make sure to get to it before Wednesday. I also told him while it was there my driver window had stopped working. By 2:00 that afternoon Kevin called with an estimate to fix my throttle body, reprogram the idle computer (usually required with throttle body replacement) and a new window regulator. I gave him to go ahead to do the repairs and was told my car would be ready for pick up the following day and he would call to let me know when. He called at 10:00 the next morning and MUCH TO MY SURPRISE, told me my car didn't need to have the idle reprogrammed after all and my bill would be $100 cheaper than the original estimate. Now that is honest! He could have never told me and I would have paid the additional $100 and never known any difference. I am so confident in Mears and it's nice to know we now have a mechanic we can trust.

I am new to the area and wanted to find a convenient place to take my car. I got a list of what needed to be done and checked prices at three places. Mears' prices were very reasonable. Additionally, the guys in the service department are very friendly and give a thorough explanation of the suggestions they make.

I have been using one location for all of my SUV's regular maintenance for approximately the last six years. They recommended two repairs. I visited Mears on Tuesday and asked if they would evaluate these issues as a second opinion due to the high cost of the repairs recommended and the age of my automobile. The General Manager offered for Mears to perform a complimentary troubleshoot, and did so today. They found no reason for either of the repairs recommended to be performed. I not only appreciated the timely appointment but also how professional the GM was. He also looked at my car with the Tech and was able to confirm the diagnosis as he is also ASE certified. The decision of either paying a high repair cost or purchasing a new car was resolved. I am switching to Mears!

Calling to get an appointment was quick, efficient and pleasant. When they asked about the assumed problem, they provided an estimate. They explained that if that was in fact the problem, the estimate would be as stated but that they would let us know if otherwise. Having received prior estimates for the same work from other locations, we knew the price they quoted was a fair market price. We also saw that they were highly rated on Angie's List. They worked with me to set up an appointment that fit our schedule. We dropped our car off the night before (it was an 8AM appointment on a Saturday) and left instructions/ contact information along with the keys. The next day, they called to let us know that we were correct and that the estimate was still good. We asked about something else and they confirmed that would also need to be looked at but did not force the issue or imply it was a safety issue. It was a pleasant and professional exchange. Overall, we really enjoyed this experience and would certainly recommend them to anyone needing their services. They certainly lived up to their reputation here on Angie's List!

It went awesome! I dropped my car off on Friday night and called them Saturday morning to see what was wrong with my vehicle. I was not able to come get it right then so they left a detailed estimate in my car of the services that I need performed. So courteous and appreciative of my business. Will be using them again to fix my car in the very near future!

Butler Toyota had misdiagnosed the problem which obviously had an electrical component (blinking and failure of dash lights and gauges). By blindly looking at the erroneous fault codes and ignoring the obvious behaviors that didn't fit the error codes, they wanted to replace the transmission and do other repairs for a total of about $4500. Mears found the real problem for a cost of only $145. They used common sense and diligent search to find the real problem. I highly recommend them. What a blessing.

They are good people. I don’t take my vehicles there for routine service. They have a better price. The two times I’ve had repairs, I’ve had to go back quickly to get things made right so it involved a second trip. The staff and the workers were professional. They replaced the fuel pump but they inadvertently damaged the gas tank solar neck. When I went to put gas in the vehicle, it leaked up to the ground. We had to go back and they made it right. Stuff like that happens. It took about two to three days to do the service. I will absolutely use Mears again.

My 2000 Jeep had needed major transmission work and a new radiator for a long time. Other parts of the drivetrain were starting to make noise, so it was time. Mears did an excellent job on all repairs, and called me after diagnosis and before any repairs were performed, to discuss price and options. After giving the go-ahead, my Jeep was ready and roadworthy again two days later, as promised. Mears gets the job done right the first time. I never have to take a car back for the same problem. I trust them, and highly recommend them.

We have used Mears Automotive on many occassions in the past and have always been impressed with their thoroughness, honesty and good workmanship. On this particular visit, I had stopped in because I had my son's car (which I usually do not drive). When I started it up, I noticed it sounded a little louder than the last time I remember driving it, so I popped into Mears on my way by to see if they could take a quick look at it. Even though I had not called ahead or did not have an appointment, they accomodated my scheduled and looked at it right away. They agreed that it sounded a bit loud. After examining it more carefully, they determined what the problem was. However, instead of recommending that they fix it, which would have cost me $800 because they would have had to replace the entire pipe, they referred me to another repair shop where that shop had the capability to cut the piece of the pipe out and weld in a new piece, costing me less than a fourth of the cost. Now, seeing that I have gone to Mears for many years and trust them completely, they could have easily told me they had to replace the pipe for $800 and I would have left the car in their hands. However, because they have such integrity and put the customer first, they suggested I go to the other repair shop where I could save a lot of money and have the same end result. I am very thankful that I can count on them to treat me like family instead of just being focused on business and the bottom line. I will continue taking our vehicles to Mears Automotive for repairs because I know they will do the right thing.
