They have always given me detailed information, helpful suggestions, and fair pricing. I have had them work on Toyotas, Kias, and Volkswagens of varying age and issues over the last 6 years and they have always done great work. The one time there was a repeated tire issue they eventually found the problem and did not continue charging me until they found the issue.
Description of Work: They have worked on multiple cars for me, everything from routine maintenance to transmission issues.

I absolutely recommend Mears. They are great people and they can fix anything. I bought a broken-down Jeep for driving back and forth to school in North Carolina. Mears looked the Jeep over before I bought it, so I knew pretty much what it needed to get it on the road and safe. It was a big deal, it needed a new transmission, brakes, suspension, tires, a door, and a whole bunch of maintenance. I was a bit nervous because it’s a lot of money, but Mears did such a great job on everything and my Jeep runs great. I love my Jeep! I love Mears for making my first car feel new. If you need car work done, go to Mears, no question, they will do a fantastic job.

I brought my Mazda into Mears for 60k service – routine Oil Change, coolant system service, change filters, and such. The service, as always, was outstanding. Easy to get an appointment, work completed quickly. Very professional, very well organized. Excellent job of communicating. They provide cost estimate, and when paying, there are absolutely no surprises. I have taken my vehicles to both shops, Brownsburg and Carmel, and had consistently excellent service from both. This is an extremely well-run company. I will not go to any other shop; Mears has a loyal customer for life.

We love Mears. We have 4 vehicles and have all of them serviced at Mears. Everyone is friendly and the turn around on our vehicles has always been quick - for simple service or more time consuming service! The thing that sets them apart for me is that I trust them. They are only going to do what is necessary and I never feel like I am being “up sold” when I bring a vehicle in for service.

Awful. Car brakes were replaced and not working correctly. This has been a repeated problem with Mears over many years. In previous visits mechanic smoked in my car, owner dropped hood on latch which put a big dent in hood, numerous trips back to fix the same issue due to poor work. I have given this company plenty of business to get it right. Do yourself a favor and find another company. They do not care about customers. Owner is also excellent at making excuses, and did not offer to have my hood repaired after he damaged it. Stay away!

Response from Mears Automotive - Brownsburg
It is regrettable that the technician did not hear the backing plate rubbing on brake rotor before the vehicle was released to the customer. When it was brought to our attention we addressed the concern immediately, explained what action we were taking, and apologized to the customer. We pride ourselves on the level of customer service we offer, and have for this customer provided pick up and drop off service at his place of residence, provided loaner vehicles (at no cost to the customer) and performed needed repairs on his vehicle and allowed him to pay when he was able. Once a vehicle is in our care we accept responsibility for what happens to that vehicle while in our care. We have replaced vehicles engines ($7,000) at our expense when they have failed while are test driving them. If there is an issue with a dent in the customers hood, we are more than willing to have it repaired/replaced.

The customer service at Mears is exceptional. I am NEVER going back to the dealership. They told me I needed front struts & rear coils replaced. Mears' diagnostic said coils were fine. Tom was super professional, helpful, explained in a way I could understand. Loaner car was great & they were flexible with my work schedule. I will use them for any auto repair exclusively Georgia point onward.

Went in for Saturday service. Unfortunately the two-piece drainplug in that model/year car had rusted together and needed to be replaced and so they needed the car until Monday when the dealer parts supply opened. Since I was vehicleless for that time they provided me with a loaner vehicle and only charged extra for the drain plug in question. Very happy with the job they did and how they handled the unexpected.

I took my truck in to Mears to have a failing steering gearbox replaced. After I dropped it off they called to inform me that the high pressure lines, and the track bar were worn and asked if I wanted to replace those as well which I did. The work took about 2 days, after I picked the truck up I noticed right away that the steering felt somewhat sloppy, however these dodge trucks are notorious for sloppy steering as they get older so I didn't give it much thought and went on driving as usual. After driving the truck about 2 months with sloppy steering I finally decided to take it back to Mears to see if they could do an adjustment on the gearbox to tighten things up. I called, explained the situation to Troy and set up an appointment to bring it in and wait in the lobby while they did the adjustment. It took about 30 mins for the tech to do the adjustment after which Troy informed me was unsuccessful and that the steering gear would need to be replaced under warranty, so I scheduled a time for them to do the work the following week. When I dropped the truck off for the warranty work I asked if they would also install a steering gearbox stabilizer that I had purchased myself and they said no problem. Work took about 2 days and they called to let me know everything was done and ready to go, I picked the truck up and couldn't believe how much better It handled, It feels like new again! The best part about this whole experience was that Mears stood behind their work 100% and without hesitation replaced the defective part and even installed the gearbox stabilizer I provided, labor and all at no additional cost to me, Outstanding! This shop has provided some the best auto service and customer service I've ever experienced, I highly recommend!

I stopped by later today to pick up the used parts that I had asked Tom to save. He talked to me and expressed concern that I was not satisfied. He said he really wanted me to be happy about the work, and offered to give me about $200 worth of free service in the future. I looked up Moog parts online and found the tie rod ends for $116.86 each. This is significantly more than any other brand I could find otherwise. Based on this, I believe Mears may have overcharged me for the parts, but it does appear they care about customer satisfaction. I would consider taking my truck there again, but will be a little more careful in reviewing the estimates.
Description of Work: 2006 F350 4wd dual. I needed 2 front tires. Tom got me 2 good tires at a reasonable price. I asked him to check the suspension. He called and told me the tie rod ends were dangerously loose. I told him to go ahead and replace them. Work done on time, truck drives straight. My concern is the price of the parts. They charged me $191 for each fo 2 tie rod ends. I looked at several places online, Rock auto, Napa, etc. The absolute most I could pay would have been about $65 per end. I went to Ford and they priced one end at $84 and the other at $66. I called Tom and asked him to review the bill. He did, and explained that he wanted me to get the absolute best parts. I asked why the parts he used cost more than 2 times the cost of the Ford parts. No great answer other than the Moog parts he used were better than OEM parts. Perhaps he is right. If so , maybe he did right by me, but I doubt it.

Thanks for your feedback. Having the manufacturers part cost less than the aftermarket part is an anomaly, we did follow up with Ford and they recently revised their part and its pricing so that the current revision of the part is less than half the cost of the previous revision. At the time of your repair we were not aware of the change, we apologize for that. All the commercial grade aftermarket parts (Moog, AC Delco, NAPA) have costs that are over the $100 mark. If you were quoted less than you were being quoted a DYI grade part, or the drag link tie rod which is less than half the cost of the spindle tie rod. The spindle tie rods were replaced on your vehicle. We hope that you will accept our offer of a $200 credit and allow us another opportunity to service your vehicle. After researching reviews of local shops I had it towed to Mears. They were able to diagnose the issue quickly and provide a quote. Because the cost to repair, and the car having 215k miles, we decided not get it fixed. After talking with them on the phone, I would be very comfortable sending my other vehicles there, and plan to soon.

I talked to Kevin about my options and ultimately decided to go ahead with a repair. The most cost effective option was to source a good used Cummins engine and replace the whole thing. This was a big job, the work was completed on time at the agreed price. I would highly recommend Mears, they are a very honest and professional.

We appreciate the positive review from as we had a major challenge to both price and timing of the job as the engine we had quoted for the 97 Dodge was sold before we could secure it. We ultimately sourced a lower mileage engine from Wisconsin and drove to Wisconsin to pick the engine up so we would not lose anymore time (or engines!). The customer was understanding that the change of engine supply used up our contingency fund for the job, and for that we are appreciative. Kevin Beck Mechanical Engineer Owner

Overall, they get an A+ for integrity and workmanship. Price was very reasonable. Despite the busy holiday schedule, they worked me in. Would have liked the communication to have been better, but considering everything I can easily overlook this shortcoming. Have driven about 150 mi after fix and the problem that brought me in appears to be resolved, no issue. They have earned my repeat business. Aside, they accidentally overcharged me, found the mistake after I had paid and left, contacted me and offered multiple reasonable alternatives to resolve. Wow, very impressed with their business integrity.
Description of Work: Had a steering issue with car, thought it needed a CV joint replaced but not confident in doing work myself. Wanted a shop I could trust to do a good job for a fair price. Needed the work done within a short window of time.

lI made an appointment and dropped my car off at the service facility. They called later in the day and explained the problem and gave an estimate for the repairs. The car was ready when they said it would be, and the bill was lower than the estimate. I have been completely satisfied with their work in the past and will continue to use them in the future.
