Excellent. I called up Dryer Vent Wizard and they were able to pencil me in two days from the call with a firm hour schedule instead of the 8 hour blocks some places give. Steve showed up on time and was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He actually beat me to the house since I was coming home from work and when I got there he had already gotten up on the roof and done a preliminary inspection. He did an MPH reading before and after the vent cleaning, and also recommended a few other changes that he was able to do right then and there such as replacing the old and poorly constructed connection from the dryer to the wall. Whole thing took maybe 30-45 minutes and I was left with a much better functioning dryer. I would definitely recommend these guys in the future. The price I listed here is for more than just the vent cleaning - it included a number of the extras such as fixing the dryer connection, replacing some old rubber hoses with steel ones, and a few other things. Just the vent cleaning itself was $190.
Description of Work: I had bought a house a few years back and never really thought about cleaning out the dryer vent. Lo and behold, one day the dryer is getting hot but the clothes just aren't drying. Turns out that piping and ventilation hadn't been cleaned in at least a few years, and who knows how long before that. The piping went up through the roof so it would have been very hard without the proper tools to do it myself.

When I did laundry after this service it took longer than normal. So I started asking questions and went outside to be sure flapper vent was open. It was a cold evening and no sign of any steam coming out of hot dryer. No sign of lint on roof from cleaning and the tech had no bag? We are elderly and disabled and did not go out and inspect as service occurred. We did see him get in the truck after service loading only a battery powered drill and a long white hose. There was also a round tube he said were his brushes. No lint bag. Upon asking him how bad it was he said 'oh, average, not bad at all' It has been 4 years since last cleaning. The price was double what we have paid others in the past. We pulled the invoice and inspected it closer. The tech noted he was here over an hour. He was here less than 30 minutes. There is a 10 item check list we noticed the service tech had checked all of them. They only did 5 of the 10. And possibly only 4. We gave him benefit of the doubt on one. We called the company and received a scheduling department likely at a different location or even city. We could not get directly into this company. They told us they would have a manager call us. They tried to send us back to the service tech and we said no, we need a manager. It took some arguing and insistence to get them to leave a message for a manager. He called us the next day. My husband picked up the call. When I heard his voice elevate I got involved. The manager defended the service tech and put my husband on the defense by arguing with him! My husband is 92 and I could tell his blood pressure was rising. I was furious. I told them they only did maybe 5 of the 10 items we paid for. The manager started the questioning all over with me. This guy finally offered to come personally do an inspection like he is doing us a favor. My husband told him only if he would perform the work we paid for. Again he was arguing with us. It would depend on what he found on his inspection. That is when I said you just lost our business and any referrals. Their customer service is awful and the price was too high.
Description of Work: Service Tech cleaned our driver vent from the roof only. Our vent run is 28 feet long and has two bends. We questioned about the vent behind the dryer and he assured us he could reach it from the roof. By turning the dryer on the air coming out would push out any lint he would loosen with his brush. He also claimed he checked air velocity before at 13.5 and after at 24.5.

We want to offer our apology for disappointing you when we came to service your dryer vent. Our goal is complete satisfaction, and we are sorry that we failed. The last part of every personal service call is assuring that customers are happy, and asking them to call if there are any questions or concerns. Thank you for calling. As offered in the two calls made to you after your initial inquiry, our Field Manager very much wants to come to your home to listen, and examine all the services that were performed. We want to assure to your satisfaction that all is done correctly. Please let us do that by calling my personal cell phone number left on your voice mail. During the safety inspection, we turned the dryer on the tumbling cycle and recorded the air flowing through the dryer vent at the exterior vent cover before any service recommendations were presented. The air flow written on the invoice was 13.5 miles per hour. After Mr. [Member Name Removed] approved the subsequent service and price quotation, we cleaned the dryer vent from the roof back to the dryer, assured that the lint was cleaned away, and recorded the air flow again after the cleaning. It is written on the invoice as 24.9 miles per hour. 24.9 confirmed that the dryer vent is clean and operating efficiently. We discussed the connection between the dryer and the dryer vent in the wall. Mr. [Member Name Removed] requested that we replace the flexible foil connection behind the dryer with the same flexible foil material. Using flexible foil is discouraged by the dryer manufacturers, Consumer Product Safety Commission and the applicable International Code. We explained that we use approved semi-rigid aluminum only for this connection, known as the transition. Mr. [Member Name Removed] said to not make the change, so we did not move the dryer. The air is flowing well from the dryer to the exterior as confirmed by the 24.9 miles per hour. Apparently, the technician did not adequately explain the "Check 10" list that is on the invoice. The "Check 10" is a guide to assure we offer all the appropriate services to our customers. If he did not examine all the items on the "Check 10", that is an unacceptable mistake. Management listened to the recording when you called about your dissatisfaction. You were very kind without any arguing, and were told that a manager would return the call within 24 hours. We called the next day and the following day asking what had happened, and requesting that we return to your home. Please call me. We will do all we can to assure your satisfaction.

It was not good. They checked but they couldn't figure out what was wrong. It didn't seem that they had anything to do. After they left, I realized that my dryer was making a really bad noise so I contacted them to figure out why they left with a noise. I didn't get a very good reply. I think the price was fine.

[Member Name Removed], This October review was a surprise to us from dryer vent service that was done in May 2016. Then, we realized that it was in the Large Appliance Repair category which we do not service. However, it is appearing under our name, so I called leaving a voice mail for you last week asking for a return call. I am sorry that we have not spoken. We did the dryer vent cleaning and increased the air flow at the exterior vent cover to over 23 miles per hour which is quite good. After our service, you called because the dryer was making a strange noise. We returned and believed the noise had nothing to do with the dryer vent cleaning. However, to confirm, we called a dryer repair company to check the dryer. The dryer repair technician found that the noise was due to a dryer tumbler issue that was apparently coincidental timing. To assure good will I agreed to fix the dryer and pay for the dryer repair service, which we did immediately. We hope our dryer vent services exceeded your expectations and hope that you will consider clarifying and reevaluating the "F" review. Please feel free to contact us at any time, using my personal cell number at your voicemail message. Thank you.

The technician (Steve) was able to get to our home in the early evening rather than the time we had scheduled for the following morning. This was a HUGE help as we were very anxious to get things put back together and functional. Steve pointed out a few other solutions that we felt would be significant improvements. Needless to say....we're very happy campers! :-)
Description of Work: Discovered some issues with my dryer vent when I pulled the dryer out to recover some articles that had fallen behind it. The exhaust air was leaking out of the connection at the wall. We had been wanting to get the dryer vent cleaned and they were able to help us solve those problems and more.

I selected this company because of its rating on Angie's List and will never hire them again. I was completely unimpressed by the employee who completed the work on 8.15.2016. 1) Two days later, there is an abundant amount of lint clinging to the building, gutters, and sidewalk. As he failed to clean up the area properly, I will need to do so. 2) He advised me that of my homeowner's insurance would be cancelled if the agent saw the cover which is installed over the duct. 3) He then tried to sell me a new cover for $79.00. (I purchased the same thing on Amazon for about $6.00.) 4) The cost of the cleaning as $171.00 with an $40.00 charge for the visit minus the $15.00 coupon that I found on this site. 5) This is DOUBLE what I have paid other companies to complete the same work.

I am extremely surprised at our service failure for you, but pleased that you let us know about it. Thank you for taking my call and talking with me about the appointment. We have used this bad situation to reinforce with our technician, and technicians, our service commitment for every customer. Thank you for allowing me to make amends, at least partially, for you. I sincerely apologize for the bad experience. 1. Clearing the lint is always supposed to be part of our service. Proper respect and care of every home inside and out is a priority. 2. The statement made about your homeowner's insurance cancelling is not accurate. A proper vent cover that allows free flow of dryer vent air and inhibits birds is important for dryer safety, but I do not know of it being noted in insurance documents. 3. I am sorry that the vent covers we recommend and install were not adequately explained. These vent covers are double door and referred as pest proof they do inhibit birds and other small animals from entering the dryer vent. They have on-going success and are maintenance free. They have not been available in stores, so I went to Lowes again and Lowes on-line after our conversation. These specific vent covers are not available. Our prices vary because there are so many installation differences, but always include proper and safe installation. Another important aspect of our service includes a discussion with every customer at the conclusion of the service to assure they understand what we did at their home and assure they are happy. I apologize again for this neglect. I hope you will give us a future opportunity to demonstrate how our servies is supposed to be done. Thank you.

It was alright. A bird had gotten in to the vent and died, so that was an extra step and good timing of having the vent cleaned, but I wasn't anticipating a $419.00 bill to have it done. Not so sure I'll venture that route again and just remove the issue myself next time and figure out how to clean it myself. At that rate I could have had a new dryer.

Thank you for your review, and I truly apologize that we apparently did not live up to our customer service standards.I researched and found that our scheduled arrival time was between 2 and 5 PM. We are always to call within the time frame to let you know a closer time of arrival. I found that we arrived at 5:30 due to longer than normal services before your appointment. We were wrong if we did not call earlier and ask your permission to arrive after PM. Cleaning and removing a dead bird from a dryer vent that exits on the roof is more difficult than vents that exit at home sidewalls. We cleaned the dryer vent from the roof all the way back to the dryer after the dead bird and bird nest were removed. We have been told that sanitizing this type of contaminated dryer vent is important to prevent possible disease left by the birds, so that was also recommended and done. It is always our process to explain all the recommended services to the home owner for approval before any service is completed. Please let me know if any portion of the recommendations was not clearly presented. Unfortunately, purchasing a new dryer would not have helped the situation. Please do not hesitate to let me know if any part of the service was not done properly. Our goal is the best service and the best value for you. We are sorry that it happens; however, we are always ready to learn about any disservices, and use that for further training. Thank you.

I scheduled the appointment for the 20th of May (2016). A call midday on the 20th and shared that the original tech was not going to able to make it (he had an injury at the visit prior) so they needed to reschedule. Problem was that we had waited a week without a usable dryer and needed the visit. While I understood that rescheduling may be needed, I asked if they could find a way to retain the appointment. Steve Dean, Field Manager, personally came out and provided the service - walked through the benefits of purchasing a vent cover through them and benefits of service package through them, as well. Will definitely be using them in the future!

Doug was awesome very professional and gave great advise before even starting work. Provided a written estimate before preforming any work. I knew there was already a birds nest in the exterior part of the vent. I didn't know it was as bad as Doug had to remove. Doug gave me an honest option on what work needed completed ASAP and items that could wait till next year. The price was a little high but for the quality of work that was completed I wasn't upset with it. You pay for what you get and I didn't mind paying a little more for the great work that they did. Extremely happy with the result and I plan on using them in the future when I need to get my vent cleaned. I would recommend them to anyone who asked.

The provider showed up on time at the first install. He looked at what needed to be done and gave me a quote. It went down hill from there. The quote at right under $1000 to install a new dryer vent. There was slight difficulty because the dryer isn't located on an outside wall, but hey they have a super service A+ award etc etc. Even though I had decided anything over $500 was unreasonable I was at the mercy of not having a working dryer vent so I went along with it. I would have done it myself, but I was weary of having to mess with holes in the drywall. The service provider however had no qualms with making very large holes to get the job done. They said they didn't do drywall and that I would have to hire someone for that. It was insisted that the venting material couldn't be run through the wall and that the best approach was to run it on the outside of the wall to the ceiling and out of the house. This didn't seem ideal to me, but other options were more holes in the walls and much more money per hole. I mistakenly agreed to this as I wasn't the professional doing the work. After a while I come back and there is a very large hole in the ceiling of my laundry room. It had not 30 minutes before been about half the size. Now not only is there a hole in the ceiling, but the cut comes down into the side wall also. I am weary at this point. I keep hoping some end result is going to magically make this all look better. I let the person work and eventually he comes to ask if I have a broom to clean up with and trash bags as he didn't have either of these??? He shows me the work and cleans up...kind of. I am floored by the work, but not in a good way. He asks me if I want the hole just open or he can try to cover it. I of course don't want a huge 4' by 4' hole in my ceiling open and another 3' by 4' one in my garage so I ask it to be closed up. I come back later and the installer has flattened out dryer vent material and attempted to screw it over the holes in both places. They don't come with any sheet metal or anything to cover the holes they are making??? The venting material runs in my laundry room up the wall and looks visually terrible and is hastily tapes up at the seams. I couldn't believe I just paid someone $944 to do what I am looking at. The guy asks if this is ok and I say no, but I am going to have to do something to fix it. After the contractor leaves I decide to contact the owner. The work looks terrible, it was over prices and I now have huge holes in the ceiling of my garage and laundry room. Some days later two people return to look at the work and see what is wrong and show up 6 hours or so late. One of them happens to be the original installer who stands by and sulks as I talk to the other person (the construction lead or someone maybe? I wasn't ever sure). I again mistakenly agree that the thing bothering me the most is the hole in the ceiling. The more I look at the work done and realize how much money I just wasted I ask for a refund of half the money. I wasn't trying to rip anyone off, but I wanted the money back to redo the work myself. After some back and forth I am given some refund towards the repair of the hole in the laundry room. In the near future when I have time I am going to rip out all the work that was done. I have no doubt the current installation would be a determinant in selling my house. Every person that has been in my house and seen the work is flabbergasted that it was done by a professional. The work as completed looks like I in a very un-handyman fashion attempted to install the stuff myself. I can guarantee that I would have done much better work than was done and for a fraction of the cost (oh yeah dry vent material costs something like $10 or $20 for a 6 ft piece just to put it in perspective). Next time I won't let the worry of having to repair drywall holes deter me from doing it myself. I really wish I could post pictures of the work as I know the provider would be embarrassed by what it looks like. They might be able to clean dryer vents (they will never step foot in my house again), but they certainly did some of the worst work I have seen from a professional contractor. I am still shaking my head that I stepped out of my predetermined spending limit and agreed to the work we had done. Lessons learned I guess....the hard way.

[Member Name Removed], rather than try to respond in a “nice” or “politically correct” manner, I am going to “tell it as it is” and hope that other Angie’s List members that have happily used our services, and members contemplating using our services, will accept my honesty. Your review is disappointing, but not totally unexpected. Sadly, your ratings will remain with us, so some members who understandably would rather not read all this will likely not be able to experience the great services we try to provide. Every day we repair, re-route, install, or clean dryer vent systems with the highest regard for home owners and their homes. We know that there is always the possibility that someone would not communicate with us with complete honesty, or subsequently attempt to damage our reputation. We try to communicate clearly to avoid the customer disappointment and maintain our highest integrity. Before any service was begun, during the service, and twice verbally and once written after the service, we explained the reason for the necessary drywall holes and the aluminum pipe installation process. You said that you understood, and you approved the service work before and after. You even thanked me for the services explanation and “good will” refund at our last phone conversation. Rather than address each issue, my reply is simply the following copy and paste letter that I wrote to you December 14, 2015. [Member Name Removed], I received your message. Our people are very customer oriented as proven by the thousands or happy customers. We always present the facts of the situation and never pressure anyone to determine what they want us to do in their home. I told you when we made the follow up second appointment that we would try to arrive before 3:00, and would let you know the arrival time. We did call during the day informing you that it would be later and you said okay. The original appointment and the second appointment, we explained why the vent was installed as is, and you approved it both times. Your wife said she doesn’t care about the pipe, she wants her ceiling fixed. Both times, we told you the vent could be lengthened, with more aluminum pipe and elbows and you said no. Before we let the second time, we asked what you want us to do. You said, “Fix my ceiling”. We said okay. Again, we told you why the ceiling holes were necessary before, during, and after the work, and told you a drywall person would be required to fix them. Originally, you said you would have them fixed and approved the temporary cover. For multiple reasons, we use two foot long dryer vent pipe carefully connecting them. These sections do not add to “dryer lent buildup” because the crimped male end of the pipe securely slides into the female end of the pipe as the air flows. It is a firm fitting with no exposed edges to collect lint. It is further sealed with a section of aluminum tape; all approved by IMC Section 504. We have all we need with us, and use it daily to clean up after the work. If you provided a bag and other items, it was a nice gesture, so Scott did not have to go back out to the truck. Many times, customers permit us to put part of the “clean up” in their trash. As explained before you approved the installation to be done and signed the quotation before the service began. The vent was not installed in the wall behind the dryer because the house construction above the wall; framing, water lines, electric lines, prohibits four inch aluminum pipe installation. The unapproved and dangerous plastic and aluminum foil previously installed was “shoved” and “crimped” around the obstructions above the wall reducing the four inch vent size. We have seen these obstructions many times in homes. As previously stated, you approved the ceiling holes and temporary cover because you were going to have the dry wall repaired. As previously stated, we said that we would have the laundry area ceiling repaired by G Brothers as a good will token or gesture, or we will refund $175. We always respect our customers and their homes, and explain all the service before and during the work. Then we ask if there are any questions and answer them before leaving. Glen Mayfield Your reply to my letter was, “Glen, Thank you for your response and explanation. I would like to be refunded the $175 and will find my own method of repairing the drywall.” We hope Angie’s List members will continue to give us the opportunity to prove our highest quality workmanship, regard for them, and regard for their home safety. Thank you.

The complexity was great. They had to go up though the little door to get to attic and actually go and clean it. The vent location was via the roof in the attic. The technician was a super representative of his company. He had an air about him, and I could trust him right away. I could tell he was going to do a good job. He explained what he was going to do and I told him to just go ahead and do the work. I knew that they were Super Service Award Winner with Angie's List and I was trusted him. Because he had to go up to the attic, the costs was $191.00 before my Angie's List discount. My Angie's List discount saved me $15 dollars. I also purchased a customer protection plan with annual inspections and with discounted cleaning, for a one time fee $29.00. The diagnostic inspection was $49 dollars. I was pleasantly surprised at the total cost. It was less than I expected to have to pay. I would give him a A+! A+ all around, the total experience was great.
Description of Work: I called for a Dryer Vent check and possible cleaning.

I decided it was time to have our dryer vent line cleaned out, and spent some time studying the various providers of this service on Angie's List. I don't know why, but it seemed hard to compare the companies. I called the Dryer Vent Wizard, and there was a nice receptionist who tried to answer my questions, and we speculated that what I wanted would cost about $200. when the technician came, though, he immediately identified some problems with the way the lines were attached, and when he went into the crawl space to see the whole 30-foot run, he found more problems. He very helpfully took pictures to show the various types of lines had been cobbled together and left lying on the ground. I was not entirely surprised, but it was more of a problem than I knew. The technician explained what need to be done to make the dryer line safe (and useful), and it was pretty expensive. However, he was there, and I didn't really have the time to get other estimates, so we okayed the work. The job he did was fine, and we feel very comfortable that his corrections have made the line up to code, and that we are less likely to have a fire. He took more pictures, and it looks (and works) great. But the price did seem high, and I was disappointed that he did not dispose of any of the old line, but just left it in the crawl space (which is not very big), so at some point I will have to find (and pay) somebody to clean it out. Of the amount, $150 was because he had to work in the crawl space, and $540 was for the 30 feet of the line. On the other hand, he took $25 off the price thanks to Angie's List. and now I know much more about dryer vent lines. AS AN UPDATE, I WOULD LIKE READERS TO KNOW THAT THE OWNER OF THIS COMPANY CONTACTED ME ABOUT THE DISPOSAL OF THE OLD PARTS AND PIECES. THEY DO CLEAN UP AFTERWARDS, AND HE WAS SORRY THAT HADN'T HAPPENED AT MY HOUSE. HE ARRANGED FOR SOMEONE TO COME GET THE STUFF FROM THE CRAWL SPACE. WHICH THEY DID, AND NOW WE ARE MUCH HAPPIER.
Description of Work: Fixed and replaced the dryer vent line and cover.

Thank you for taking my phone call today and letting me schedule a future time to remove the old dryer vent that was left in the crawl space. You were kind to accept my word that we are always supposed to "clean up our mess". Thanks also for your kind comments about our technician, other than the old vent, and professional service. We will call you soon when we are near by to remove the old defective dryer vent. Thank you.

The staff was not professional, when I was talking to my husband I asked if I was on speaker phone then the vendor made a comment that he could hear me on the phone and his hearing was really great when the conversation was between me and my husband. That I got a conformation that the service provider would arrive between 11-3 and they came at 10:30. They they came back at 2pm to actually do the service.
Description of Work: The deal that I purchased was suppose to be for dryer DE-linting. The description was very mis-leading because it was for one service but they offered me another type service. They did not do anything, they said the service I wanted was not the service that I ordered and the service that I was requesting was 700.00

Dear Member, Yes the purchase you made at Angie’s List was for “Dryer De-linting”. The Angie’s List Deal Details says, “De-linting the dryer interior from the lint filter to the dryer vent behind the dryer”. Upon arrival, we clearly explained the service that you bought and showed you the Angie’s List document from our smart phone. We never want to mislead anyone at any time. Dryer manufacturers, Consumer product safety Commission, National Fire Preventions Association, and others recommend removing lint from dryer systems. It is listed in your dryer owner’s manual. Therefore, we always begin our service with a safety inspection. The safety inspection at your home revealed that a section of flexible foil in your dryer transition vent line and a capped roof vent that was not permitting dryer exhaust to flow to the outside of your home. Dryer exhaust must exit to the outside of the home per International Mechanical Code Section 504 – Clothes Dryer Exhaust We did recommend that you make these dryer vent corrections to improve the safety and efficiency of your dryer and showed [member name removed] the written costs by item; a new vent cover on the roof, a code compliant transition vent behind the dryer and a dryer vent cleaning. We were ready to make the changes to your dryer vent; however, you decided you did not want the service, so we “did not do anything”. We are uncomfortable when leaving a home knowing the dryer and dryer vent deficiencies are not improved; however, occupants make their own decisions. [member name removed] was standing next to Scott, our technician when you asked if you were on speaker phone. Scott said sorry, but I can hear you and if you would like for me to step outside so you can discuss this issue in private, I can. [member name removed] said no need. We did arrive about 10:30 for an 11:00 appointment. We called before arrival to ask for early arrival, and left a voice mail on both phone numbers. We arrived, left another voicemail requesting a return call, left a business card in the door, and started to another nearby appointment. About 6 minutes later, [member name removed] returned the call and pleasantly said returning later in the day was okay. We returned later. Our locally owned and operated business is based on superior service, dryer safety and efficiency, professionalism, and courtesy for homeowners and their homes. It is rare, but sometimes we cannot please every customer, and we regret that. The next Angie’s List review following yours, dated November 17, is from a lady that purchased the same Angie’s List Dryer “De-Linting”. The same technician explained the service to her, did the safety inspection, wrote the recommendations including costs, and subsequently cleaned her dryer vent. Please read her review. We will be making changes to the “Dryer De-Linting” offer to attempt preventing any misconception.

The service tech recalled that I was a previous customer and reminded me of the service plan we already had.... He checked the air flow speed through the dryer and told me the drop in speed was minimal from 3 years ago. He also go on the roof and checked the vent operation there. No charge for the services he performed.
Description of Work: I had used the services of this provider before ( they put in a new dryer vent 3 years ago ) However, it wasn't until after I purchased the service on Angie's List last month, that I recalled the work they did 3 years ago included a lifetime protection plan for service and cleaning .

I called Dryer Vent Wizards and spoke to a very nice lady who worked with me to arrange for same day service. Brian arrived on time and surveyed our situation. After some discussion I agreed for complete re-routing of the vent line to eliminate any risk of damage to the dryer from air restrictions in the existing line. The work took less than 2 hours and looks great!
Description of Work: Re-routed dryer vent line to avoid restricted air flow from old line that had too many 'elbows' in it.
