Description of Work: Jim arrived for the appointment and did a great job. He had state of the art equipment, and he showed us pictures of the interior of our chimney. He cleaned the chimney and he made recommendations of how we could improve the performance of the fireplace. Jim and his helper cleaned up after themselves and were careful to keep their workspace clean. Jim showed himself to be an experienced chimney sweep.

They replaced the limestone surface with |the limestone that had been removed and also added new limestone where needed. | There has been no leakage since the re-build. The chimney looks great.

Description of Work: Jim and Ronnie did a great job repair my chimney and installing new caps. I purchased a historic home and that been somewhat neglected. The home inspector found a crack in the crown, torn old wire, and loose flashing. Jim, the owner, corresponded with me via email which I really appreciated because I work in an environment that is not conducive to phone calls. We set up an appointment for two weeks out that fit my schedule well. He emailed me earlier in the day to give an update on their time which was only thirty minutes past the scheduled time. I really appreciated him being so conscientious because I was able to take care of few more tasks at work instead of waiting at the house for them. It is the norm for service people to give windows but Jim really helped me out by giving an exact time. Jim and Ronnie showed up in labeled van (it is actually done in a really attractive wrap) and Jim wore a company shirt. As a female meeting workers by myself I really appreciated their professional presentation. Jim and Ronnie immediately assessed the situation and helped me to prioritize those items which needed to be addressed immediately and also helped me to plan for the future. Since this home was a recent purchase, I am not ready to tackle big projects but I always like to discuss how current repairs will affect the future. My eventual goal is to install gas fireplaces, so Jim created a strategy to instal the caps that will take care of the chimney for this winter with the promise of crediting them back if I need to switch them out in future. Ronnie did a great job fixing the flashing and the crack in the crown molding. He chose a subtle brown that blends well with the house which is important to me because of the historical designation on my home. Jim also gave me a thorough education on gas fireplaces and talked to me about my future needs so I could start to build that in the budget.

Description of Work: Chimney sweep and inspection. Remove existing chimney crown and top layers of bricks. Install steel form to top of chimney, pour 4" thick concrete chimney crown. Seal area between clay flue tiles and new crown with 50 yr. silicone caulking. Install 17"x49" Stainless Steel top mounted chimney cover. Restore chimney bricks stained with rust from original chimney cover.

Description of Work: Chimney was cracked and brick was flaking off. They removed damaged brick veneer from chimney down to the bricks in satisfactory condition. They then lay brick of similar color to original height. A crown was installed at the top which gave an overhang around the perimeter of the chimney forming a drip edge and bond break between the crown and the brick work. The area between the clay flue tiles and new crown were sealed with 50 year silicone caulking. They then installed stainless steel tile mounted chimney covers with mesh protection from animal invasion.

Description of Work: Jim performed a thorough inspection of my fireplace and chimney and described his findings to me. He detailed everything on his report, discussed fire safety issues (I have small children), and installed a stainless steel chimney cap.
