Description of Work: Our spring on our garage door broke. I called them around noon and they were here and had it fixed by 4:15 that afternoon. Professional, punctual; would definitely recommend to others and would call them again.

+ -1 moreA-1 came out and performed an inspection as well as tune up on my garage door. We had been having an issue of the door not responding to the remotes about 1 out of every 5 times. It took a hard bang on the unit itself to get it to work again which was becoming a huge inconvenience. A-1 had a technician out promptly and informed me that it could be a bad board but that he'd take a look just to be sure. I'm glad he did because it turned out to be a bad wire which was much better than having to replace an entire unit. Couldn't be happier that they were honest with me about the issue because I know from experience that there are a lot of companies who would have tried to sell me an unnecessary part for several hundreds of dollars. Integrity and honesty by A-1 are why I will be sure to tell anyone who will listen about the great service I received.

I called A-1 Garage Doors at around 10:30 Monday and fortunately, they were able to fit me into their service schedule at 2:30 that afternoon. Steve arrived at 2:20 (after calling ahead) and replaced both springs (my decision since both springs were the same age) in no more than 30-40 minutes. He also made sure everything else was working correctly before leaving. They've definitely earned my future business.

+ -1 more1. It was thoughtful that the business offered us a rebate if we were willing to wait another couple of weeks for the work to be completed. 2. The sales personnel were helpful and informative. 3. The man who came out for the estimate (Steve) was helpful and informative. 4. The installer Paul was great and should give classes to other service people on how to give good customer service particularly when problems are not readily resolved. 5. The office people were helpful in getting the installer back to deal with our problems, although the implication that the problem was our fault did not leave a good feeling with us. 6. It should have been stated up front that the motor on the opener would overheat with repetitive use so it hadn't come as such a surprise that something we had spent so much money on had such a problem 7. I would recommend full disclosure to future customers about this issue to prevent bad feelings and improve communication between customers and the business. 8. Would we use this business again? Time will tell depending on whether we need to call them again and what kind of response we will get. 9. although most of my comments have been in regards to the opener, the door itself seems to be quite good and gives the house a more updated look.
Description of Work: The garage door AND new opener were ordered in August, the company called and wanted to know if we wanted to wait until September in order to receive a scheduled rebate, which was thoughtful. The door and opener were installed without difficulty. As soon as the installer left the garage door opener would no longer work. My husband called the company and was given advice to fix the problem but that did not work. We called back and the installer returned and spent 1.5 hours remedying the problem. As soon as he left it happened again. I called the company back, they said they would call us back with a plan. They called back and told my husband that the installer would return. It was implied during this phone call that the motor on the opener had overheated and it was also implied that the fault was ours. All we had done was push the button ONCE to close the door after the installer left. The qualtiy of the opener ultimately remains to be seen. It did not make us happy that the opener "overheated" after the installation. It also did not make us happy that it was implied that the fault was ours when all we did was activiate the opener once to close the door after all of the troubleshooting and it wouldn't work. The only saving grace in the process was the installer whose name was Paul. He patiently returned to increasingly more stressed and unhappy customers and worked until resolution of the problem was reached. He was much better in coping with our complaints than the office was, although the office did act upon our complaints by sending him out as many times as it took to get it taken care of.

+ -1 moreIt was easy. Called to make sure that they could come out in a timely manner since another company was going to take over a week to come out. Called on Tuesday and they came out Thursday. After scheduling, went on Angies List and bought their Big Deal for $99. Our garage door was not coming down properly and was really squeaking. Steve came out and within minutes got it working. Then he replaced all the wheels and oiled/greased everything. I would say it took him maybe 30 minutes at the most. He was very nice and professional. I was pleased to hear that the garage looked good and shouldn't need replacing anytime soon. I would call them again if needed.

+ -1 moreAfter years of use, my garage door opener finally quit. I called A-1 and they came out and looked it over. It was recommended that I get a new door opener. They gave a price estimate if they installed one of their units, and they also gave a price estimate if they installed a unit that i purchased. I really liked it that they gave me those options... and the prices were very reasonable. I chose to do the research and buy my own unit... which they gladly installed. After a few weeks I was having problems with the wall switch so they came out again and took a look at it and replaced it free of charge. This is a great company and they will get any/all of my future garage door work. They are easy to deal with, provide a very friendly service at what i feel is a very reasonable price and they're punctual and they do what they say they're gonna do and they're right on time.
Description of Work: Replaced my older garage door opener with a new one (of my choosing) - also replaced the wall opener switch, the keyless remote outside and the photoelectric cells.

She scheduled the appointment after getting some information from me about the door (size, etc.) and she provided an initial quote for the entire job. The service tech showed up. He was a very homely guy, but nice. I didn't care that he smoked much of the time he was at my residence, but he was just in the garage (and it was completely empty) so it wasn't much of a problem for me. He advised me that I would need a part that was not accounted for in the quote and called the office to get a price before proceeding. He worked quickly and did a nice job with the installation. The wires were mounted neatly and out of the way. The equipment seems like good quality. When he was finished, he lubed the door very well and adjusted the spring so that it worked flawlessly. He did advise me that the quality of the door itself was not very good and that as soon as possible, he would recommend replacing it. It has plastic fasteners between the door panels that tend to break in the winter, he told me. It was not in my budget to get a new door, but it was nice that he told me it could be a problem in the near future.
Description of Work: I purchased a foreclosed home and the garage door was off the track and no opener had ever been installed. They fixed the garage door and installed an opener.

He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional and had the work done in less than an hour. And as a nice touch, this company sent us a thank you note a few days later. Steve was wonderful! Great experience, quality work, and excellent customer satisfaction. I would highly recommend this company.
