+ -1 moreJan was courteous, prompt and professional. We have used her company any time we have needed lock help over the last six or seven years, and would definitely call her again for lock help.
Description of Work: The door knob on the inside of our front door had completely come apart from the rest of the door know on the outside of the door. Jan put it back together for us--but not before she tried to walk me through repairing it myself to save us a service call fee. Alas, even with her great coaching over the phone, it was more than I was able to do. She was here right when she said she would be, and fixed it quickly.

+ -1 moreThe visit went quite well. I was called when the locksmith was on the way and they arrived promptly as scheduled. The locksmith was able to deal with the mechanism despite its age and restore its smooth functioning. I was able to see the mechanisms and understand the details she covered. This is important to me in keeping the look of the condo complex intact. I will also have some clear guidance on selecting a replacement to maintain the look with a good quality lock of more modern and readily serviceable design.
Description of Work: I was having problems with my front door lock sticking and being hard to turn. I contacted Janco to come service it and determine the issue. My condo has the original single-piece door lock mechanisms from the building of the complex in the 1970's. This design is now obsolete and parts are not available commercially; only a few older building complexes still have them in place. Janco was able to disassemble the lock, clean out the working parts and identify where the lock is wearing out and preparing to fail. They were able to restore it to good working order and give me input on models of lock that would be most viable as eventual replacements. I now have a good working door and time to consider what I wish to do for replacement without being in crisis mode.

One of those stupid things; I traded cars and neglected to put a house key on my new key fob. I called several locksmiths but got either no quick response/ no response at all being a Sunday, or I reached an answering service that said they'd locate someone in my area after I provided a zip code--but I really felt more comfortable doing business with a local business. I then called Janco, and Jan answered immediately. She said she was at a restaurant with her family but would be over as soon as they finished eating. And she was! She was so nice. I felt instantly at ease. It took just a few minutes to fix my problem. I would highly recommend her.

+ -1 moreThe door from the kitchen to the garage refused to open. We called locksmiths on Saturday, September 29, most only work Monday through Friday and I reached answering machines. Jan picked up her cell phone immediately. We tried to schedule for the following week, but my work schedule meant that I only had the following Friday open. Jan said, "that to long for you to wait, I'm going to come over right now." She showed up in 10 minutes and worked for 45 minutes trying to get at the broken latch. She was successful and charged reasonably considering Saturday service and the time it took. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed by her customer service and her skill. I would recommend her to anyone and definitely use her again.
Description of Work: The lock on the door from the kitchen to the garage wouldn't work. Jan replaced the lock and removed the broken latch.

She was punctual when she arrived, extremely polite, efficient, and even had a good sense of humor! We needed that humor, let me tell you. + -1 moreWe had an attempted break-in where the guy tried to kick in our front door. As a result, we couldn't get it unlocked so it was essentially unusable as a door. The following day, I called Jan and she was able to come out that very day to fix it. She was able to get it opened and fixed it enough to get the deadbolt back in place and usable. We will have to replace the door and jamb, but it works for now. I also asked her to put a deadbolt on the door between the kitchen and the garage and to re-key the main entry door, the new deadbolt, and another door to the same key. She was having back problems, but called another company to come out and do those things. They worked together very well. It all went great and I'm feeling safe again.
Description of Work: Open a jammed steel entry door. Replace a deadbolt and lockset. Install a new deadbolt in another door. Re-key three doors to match.

She explained the interconnect lock we had on the front door and re-keyed the lock since we had just moved into this house. She supplied us with 4 new keys. Her price even came in a bit under her estimate on the phone.

+ -1 moreIt went well, although I was a bit disappointed that she couldn't fix the wood trim. I should have done a better job at reading her job's description.
Description of Work: I asked Jan to check the lock on our garage door. It was sticking and the bottom lock was broken. Jan arrived right on time and took a look at the lock. Unfortunately she couldn't do anything because the wood trim was cracked and she only handles the locks. She gave me some good information, though, about having the wood trim repaired.

Description of Work: I have used JANCO in the past and also have highly recommended them to my buyers and sellers in the past. This past week I came home to find that none of my garage door openers or keyless entry pad were working and I didn't have a house key. I was really locked out! I called JANCO and even though it was after hours she returned my call within minutes and agreed to come out to my house and get things taken care of. Estimated time of arrival about 25-30 mins. While waiting for her I was able to "break in" my house. I called her back and she was of course already half way to my home. Although I didn't need her services any longer I would certainly use her in the future as she is always prompt courteous professional and reasonably priced. Oh and the reason none of the openers worked - lighting strike and electrical surge took out the opener motors.

Jan has worked with me the both times I used her and came out in the evening to help me. The second time she came by to do it while I wasn't home then made a second trip to bring me my keys.

She was very knowledgeable and explained everything that needed to be repaired. She was very pleasant and thorough. I would absolutely use her again in the future.
Description of Work: The door knob would not unlock. My great nephew closed the door and locked it and it wouldn't budge afterwards. So she had to replace the entire lock set. The door knob doesn't look any different but now it is opening.

+ 0 moreWe have contacted Jan to help us several times in the past and have always been very satistified with her and her work!!!! This time I called on Thursday morning and hoped I might be able to get service on the Friday. Jan immediately said she could work me in on Thursday! Then we coordinated a time and and what a wonderful attitude she had! She was so quick to figure out the problem and fix it. And, one door after she tightened everything in the lock area wasn't latching nicely so she went out of her way to check the actual door and realized that no one had put in the 4 screws that were required so off she went to her truck to get 2 screws to complete the job. Once done, it made all the difference in the world! Fantastic job! Definitely our locksmith of choice!
