They advised us to contact the utilities to have all underground lines marked and said they would come after that had been done. They came when they said they would and the crew of three wrestled it into the very large hole they had dug, then filled in the hole and mulched the tree. All this was done with a minimum of folderol. They left info on how to care for the tree. Now, less than 2 weeks later, the tree is starting to leaf out. So far all looks good.

It was a dead tree. It was absolutely abysmal. This is one of the worst customer service organizations I've ever dealt with in my entire life. It was so bad that I almost sued them. They didn't know which tree was which.
Description of Work: We bought a live tree there during the spring. They assured us it would be a healthy tree. A month later they delivered and installed the tree when it was still dormant. It never bloomed.

THEY REPLACED THE TREE WITH 2 SMALLER TREES. I HAD TO KEEP CALLING THEM BECAUSE THEY WERE BUSY. THEY WERE VERY NICE AND HELPFUL. I TOOK PICTURES OF THE TREE AND TOOK THE PICTURES TO THEIR OFFICE. WHEN HE SAW THE TREE, I THINK HE WAS KIND OF DISMAYED. HE SAID THAT THE TREE SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN PUT IN. HE DID OWN UP TO THE FACT THAT THE TREE WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE. IN ALL FAIRNESS TO THEM, THEY DID MAKE A GOOD EFFORT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.
Description of Work: BOUGHT A TREE. THE TREE THAT THEY PUT IN, THE TRUNK WAS REALLY CROOKED AND ABOUT HALF DEAD.

The shrubs were planted exactly as we asked. It was very dry, and I know the digging was difficult. They did a nice job.
Description of Work: We had eight shrubs planted around a back patio. We purchased the shrubs on a Monday, and they were planted by Wednesday afternoon. Fortunately the utility lines were able to be marked by then.

"Call before you dig" marked the wires on the property. Affordable Trees planted the trees, but cut a television cable during installation. Subsequently, we called Affordable Trees to discuss the cut wire and our concern that the trees were not doing well. I spoke with John, who said he was one of the owners. He did not want to look at the trees and refused to honor the one year guarantee. I was told a man named Nick would call about the cut wire. He never did. The trees are dying because they were planted incorrectly. One tree is dropping needles rapidly and has bare branches and the other is starting to do the same. Affordable Trees does not want to honor their own one year guarantee or repair the cable that they cut.
Description of Work: We went to Affordable Trees to get recommendations on whether or not we could put hemlocks in a specific locale on our property. We wanted to be sure the trees would be in the perfect location for them to grow and mature. Once we determined that the location we had in mind for our hemlocks was a good choice, we contracted with Affordable Trees to plant the hemlocks in our back yard.

We make our very best effort to only specify trees for a landscape that will do well in that particular situation. Unfortunately, hundreds of variables contribute to the health of a tree, including available soil nutrients, homeowner watering practices, weather patterns, etc. We have offered to replace these trees with another variety more suited to the situation. - John Slivka, Member

Working with Affordable Trees was a very pleasant experience. The folks in the office who took my order were very pleasant and helpful. The delivery and planting of the white pines took place first and they did a great job and were very good about working with me to place them where I wanted them. We had a slight hitch in the beginning when they first came and found that the utilities had not been marked yet. I didn't realize at the time that I needed to do that because when I have had work done by my landscaper he has always taken care of that and I made the assumption that Affordable would do that also. It was just a communication glitch which was quickly rectified. The river birches were delivered not long after and again they did a wonderful job. I am very, very happy with the results. It has been 6 months and I have not lost one yet! They do guarantee for a year which is reassuring.
Description of Work: Planted 10 white pines and 4 river birches in backyard.

Overall, I was not pleased with their service. They were over a week late on their delivery and never bothered to call. They also planted three different river birches than what we picked out and never called to let us know. We called to confront them on this and they said they had a watering problem and that the leaves would pop out in a couple of weeks. Some leaves did ''pop'' but we will wait until the Spring to make a final conclusion, they have a 1 year guarantee. The mulch they placed around the trees was also a little sparse. However, for the price they seem to be hard to beat. I will buy trees from them in the future, but will take pictures of the trees to insure that I get what I wanted.
Description of Work: Purchased 3 river birch, 1 maple and 1 fir tree. They delivered and installed the trees. They were over a week late from their estimated delivery date. We picked out the trees, we staked where we wanted them planted, they dug the holes, planted and mulched the trees.

This company is fabulous. Kathy Allen is the most wonderful landscape architect. They offer so much value for what you get. While we spent a great deal of money, we planted about 50 trees, 100 shrubs, and it was fun. They really enjoy what they do and it shows. We will be using them again for additional landscaping.

Two of the three river birch installed were in poor condition and in severe shock (one may need to be replaced but John Slivka and Cathy Allen checked it out and John thought it would be ''bursting with leaves'' in a few weeks, still looks pretty bad and if it survives will have massive branch die back, the other will do fair with some branch die back and only one is in good condition). I suspect the trees were allowed to dry out before delivery. Two crab apple trees are doing well thankfully. Affordable Trees also installed inkberry hollies in the front and did a poor job lining them up. Cathy Allen is nice enough but so busy that she did not fully supervise the hired help. She said they would be out to fix this but after being promised two times that someone would be out to fix the problem I'm still waiting after 5 weeks. This company may be okay if you can pick your trees out and get them installed before they kill them. Do not have them do any landscaping work.

We purchased 12 trees from Affordable Trees in Sheridan, IN. All the trees were 8' - 20' tall, not tiny trees. They are beautiful. Affordable Trees was very prompt on the install. It was done in 2 phases. However, we had problems with them not mulching around the trees. We've contacted them several times to resolve, but I think our request gets shuffled to the bottom on their list. So, we decided to take care of the mulching ourselves. They came out to replace a plum tree that was installed in a 1/2 alive condition. The new tree is great. Overall, we are very pleased with the products and just disappointed in the follow up.

They overcharged me $100 on one tree. They told me it would be $495 for a Weeping Willow, then they tried to charge me $595 on the invoice. Then they pulled a baby Cherry Tree off the truck, when we ordered and paid for a large one. The Weeping Willow looks dead so we called them to have them come out to replace it, which they haven't done yet. They lied to us on the price and gave us two wrong trees. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, or use them again!
