It went per the plan.

We purchased a home built in the 1940s. The service was 100 amp and there were outlets that weren't grounded or the polarity was reversed. As mentioned above, when starting to do the work, the electricians realized that it was going to be a bigger job than initially thought. They were very clear in explaining the situation, the estimate of what it would take, and why it needed to be done (even showing me the old wiring so I could see what bad shape it was in). The electricians were excellent, nice, hard working, and had great attention to detail. They thought of things like wiring half of several outlet sets in the living room to the light switch (so one switch would turn on several lamps) and installing separate circuits for the microwave and toaster so we can use each with no problem. They also cleaned up after themselves, which is no small job when you have rewired the whole place, opened every switchplate/outlet, and taken down lighting fixtures. I would absolutely use them again.

He took a look at the other fixtures as well and helped me replace some other light bulbs. He didn't charge me extra for the emergency call or to look at the other fixtures.

I had minimal work done by them and it was a very short service call. I decided to go with them because they were close by and responded quickly. I paid $80, but I thought that was a little steep.

We are still waiting on the bill. They helped us pick out the parts. The timer on the lights in the garage actually knows where we are in the country. It has our latitude and longitude and resets depending on day and night like when the times are changing, so we never have to touch it. It is kind of cool. The price was pretty reasonable.

I am in process of getting estimates but was very impressed even if I don't choose Wilshore. Jon respnded quickly to my phone call, made an appointment time convenient for me the next day, kept me updated on his schedule, took his shoes off automatically when he came in so as not to mess up the floors. He looked everything over twice and said he would send me a firm estimate by e-mail within two days. He said they would not charge more than their written estimate but his verbal estimate was less than a third of the other "reliable Wilmette electrician." He seemed honest, knowledgeable and diligent.

They came out the same afternoon that I called. They were great and I plan on using them again for another project.

Tom Burdin, of Wilshore Electric, responded to my inquiry about the need to comply with the regulations for hard-wiring my smoke detectors. My apartment is in an older buiding that did not have that feature. He gave me knowledgeable answers and visited for a free estimate. I needed the building's approval and he was instrumental in helping me get that by preparing a professional proposal, insurance certificate and required permits that put my building's management at ease. He was always punctual and completed the work successfully, with minimal damage to the wall, which was easy to patch up, left the place clean and stuck to the estimated price. I would strongly recommend this company for any type of electrical work. This is a field that one cannot afford not to deal with professionals and Wilshore Electric is the right place to go. John was the manager on the job. He definitely made sure that all the work was done on time and done very professionally. They were real responsive to all my needs and did just what they needed to do. It was nice to get the bulbs changed.
