F J KERRIGAN PLUMBING CO INC

I originally called them on 3/24/09 because they had done a similar video inspection about 8 or 9 years ago. A service writer (?) came on 3/26 to inspect our home & said he had to discuss the situation with his supervisor. I left several messages for the supervisor but did not get a call back. About two weeks later we received a written proposal with the work and price spelled out. We returned the proposal two weeks after that but did not hear from Kerrigan to schedule the work after leaving another voice mail message. It was then about three weeks later that they called and wanted to schedule the work which was done partly that week and partly the next week with different technicians each time. Since the source of the "smell" was not found, I called back and asked if they could have an HVAC person inspect the ductwork as a courtesy. Again, it took several days for a response, but the estimator who showed up more or less shook his head and told us to close up the vent, that there was no way to get at the duct work etc to inspect it without tearing up the kitchen. I was not clear about whose responsibility it would be to repair the hole that had been cut in the wall by the first plumber. The HVAC estimator said "We're plumbers, not carpenters. You'll have to take care of that yourself." All told, the communication and response time with Kerrigan was very poor. I think this company is probably geared to doing large residential or commercial projects and therefore only scheduled us when they didn't have more lucrative work. They did the work that we contracted them to do, but it took almost two months to accomplish and still didn't "solve our problem." I would prefer to have them say up front that they didn't want to tackle our problem or that the job was too small. I was hopeful that they would have the expertise to help us but it didn't work out that way.

Very pleased. I called that morning. The person answering the phone was very pleasant and happily booked me for an appt that morning. Eric was very professional and considerate. Everything was left in great condition. I would definitely recommend Kerrigan and will call them again.

Called and was given an appointment for early the next day. Gentleman showed up on time and spent one hour working to clear very clogged drains. He then gave me a recommendation on how to continue to keep them clean. There was an additional $20 charge for a special piece of equipment used. Overall, I was thrilled that it only took an hour. When I made the appointment, they offered to go over their rates with me.

Kerigan was able to repair the cracked pipe without leaving the basement. It is now better that new. While on site the plumber was also kind enough to provide some free advice on how to route my HVAC condensation drain. I took his advice, did the work myself, and saved even more money. Thanks Kerigan you rock!

They did good work, were respectful, clean, and professional. They charged a fair price.

On the day before Christmas, our kitchen sink decides to get blocked. I spent a few hours trying everything I could to unblock it. After several failed attempts, I realized it was time to call in the professionals. However, being December 24, who would I get to come out in time before the holidays? I called around several places that were closed or said 'no way we can get to you today'. Kerrigan Plumbing said no problem and sent out Pete. It took him an hour of rodding and a second plumber (Pat), but they finally got it unblocked. They also took the time to give me advice on how to keep the drain clear in the future and showed me parts of the plumbing system that were causing the bottleneck. Thanks to their responsiveness, Christmas dinner was saved.

The plumber arrived on time and was very courteous and professional. He left a very clean work area behind him. He replaced a drain pipe under the sink but the replacement was defective and kept leaking. So he got another from his truck and put a second pipe in. Worked fine. He adjusted the toilet handle and it works fine now. Even though I never mentioned the garage drain when I called for a reservation, he had no problem trying his 50-foot rodding machine. Told me he hit serious tree roots and another crew with a larger rodder may be necessary to completely clean it out. He did what he could in very quick time. Fast, efficient service.

I think that they're a good company, even though I think they could have come around quicker. I really like the work that they do and the people that work there are really friendly. They are recommendable.

F J Kerrigan Plumbing Co Inc is a big company and has many plumbers working for them. They give quite a large window of time for when they might arrive so you are kind of trapped in your home waiting for them. I think they are good, highly trained servicemen, however for this repair, he did get the toilet to stop running, but after that it seemed that it was harder to flush. I can't recall the price, but I think they charge more than a lot of other plumbers.

They do outstanding work. They did the repair in a timely manner and made sure it was fixed properly. They have come back to check on it and make sure there were no more problems. They cleaned up after the job and they were very nice to work with.

I think that they are a little expensive but still well worth the money. We have a six inch sewer pipe line opening. Every other plumber would only go until they got it to flow. This company made sure that it was totally cleaned out. They did not leave until the job was done right. I like that and have no problems with paying a little more as long as I get that kind of service. I was impressed with the fact that they will tell you up front how much it is going to cost. They are very good at what they do.

They are superb. We have had several other plumbers out and they never cleaned the sewer line. We can't say enough about them. We feel like they really went above and beyond our expectations. We have not had a problem with a back up so far.

They were very nice and friendly. They saw what the other person had done and new in one look that the wrong piece had been put in. They happened to have the part with them, and fixed it on the spot! It worked out great! Price wise and everything, I think they were very fair. He told me if anything doesn't work, to call, and they would handle it.

We were very pleased. We plan to continue using them.

Awful. We always try to stay local and hire local. So when we had no hot water we called Kerrigan and they came out the next morning. Apparently they couldn't figure out why we had no hot water and that possibly we might need to change our faucets or something along those lines. I signed the release form that also stated by the plumber they couldn't figure out the problem and someone would call us. After another full day with not water we called them back and they never returned our phone call. We were now on day 3 with no hot water and our son needed a warm bath. So we called Pasquesi plumbing. They came out within 3 hours and discovered that our water heater was broken. They replaced it within 1 hour and also discovered why our laundry machine kept flooding due to a broken pump. And they were able to replace the pump within the same hour. We never heard from a Kerrigan representative or plumber. I guess they thought nothing was wrong with our hot water.

The plumber who did the work;(Chris) was professional, knowledgeable and kept a messy job pretty clean. I had follow-up work to be done, fixing a cracked section, and Kerrigan was not very good about getting back to me. I would have liked to use them to do it, but I am using another. It took them three days and three calls to get back to me with a quote. That speaks to how busy they are and they are a big company. I liked who I dealt with there, I just could not wait.

I called for an appointment time and they were able to schedule me on the exact day I wanted for an early morning time. The office called the house 10 minutes before to let me know the plumber was on his way. Billy arrived and was very polite, professional, and neat. He re-installed the toilet in no time. The sink needed a new drain pipe (which he had) and also a new washer at the stopper connection (which he did not have). He said he could take the parts back to his shop to fabricate a custom washer (at greater expense) or make the repairs with materials he had (including Teflon tape) which he said would be good for another 40-50 years. He fixed the sink and toilet and did all this in 45 minutes billable time. I paid the itemized bill and he was gone in less than an hour. Excellent professional service, I would definitely call them again.

Digging out & replacing the drain tile was painful, but necessary. Kerrigan's was not cheap by any means. But, our foreman, Ben, was very responsive and attentive. The men on the job each day were very hard working, knowledgeable and professional. They seemed to care about the quality of the work, and making sure we were happy with the work. The damage was more extensive than we expected when the job commenced, but we knew that might be the case. This is one of those jobs that you're never happy about because it shouldn't have happened in the first place. But, I'm glad we had Kerrigan's to do the job.

The plumber who came did not know what he was doing. He had to keep returning to try and figure out what to do. He should have called and told me I can't do this job instead of learning on the job and charging me for it.

Very nice & cheerful. Cleaned up after themselves. Their initial service call charge is higher than others in our area, but they worked quickly so I don't think that total was any more.

The workman who came -- Patrick --was on time, pleasant, and knew what he knew and what he did not know. He suggested that some work be done later because it would put him into overtime to do it right then, which would cost me more. They did a terrific job and we are very pleased.

THEY ENDED UP BREAKING THE BOLT AND DIDN'T REPAIR IT. THEY SAID THAT THE BOLT WASN'T ABLE TO BE FIXED. I WOULD USE NOT AGAIN.

WE HAVE USED KERRIGAN'S SERVICES A NUMBER OF TIMES OVER THE PAST SIX YEARS AND HAVE ALWAYS FOUND THEM PROFESSIONAL AND RESPONSIVE.

THE SAME INDIVIDUAL HAS VISITED EACH TIME WE'VE NEEDED SEWER WORK DONE WHICH IS A POSITIVE FOR US; THE COMPANY OFTEN SEEMS VERY BUSY, BUT THEY GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS IN A TIMELY WAY; OFFICE STAFF HAS BEEN VERY PLEASANT TO SPEAK WITH AND HAS GIVEN USE POLITE, EXTRA-MILE SERVICE.

I HAVE USED THIS COMPANY FOR SEVERAL YEARS. THEY DID A PROFESSIONAL JOB AND CAME IN UNDER THE ESTIMATE, HOWEVER THEY DID NOT INSTALL THE WATER HEATER THEY HAD PROMISED US, AND DID NOT TELL US. I NOTICED IT WAS A DIFFERENT MODEL NUMBER, BUT THEY OBTAINED AND INSTALLED THE ONE WE WANTED. IN HINDSIGHT IT PROBABLY WAS NOT A BIG DEAL, BUT STILL IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IF THEY HAD TOLD US IN THE FIRST PLACE. THEY HAVE DONE A FEW OTHER PLUMBING REPAIRS AND DO GOOD WORK. I WOULD HIRE THEM BEFORE ANYONE ELSE, BECAUSE THEY STAND BY THEIR WORK AND I DON'T WANT TO RISK USING SOMEONE WHO MIGHT NOT. IT CAN BE HARD TO SCHEDULE THEM, BECAUSE THEY DO EMERGENCIES FIRST. I TOOK A DAY OFF ONCE ONLY TO HAVE THEM CANCEL DUE TO OTHER WORK. IT'S HARD TO FIND GOOD PLUMBERS AND THEY DEFINITELY AREN'T CROOKS.
