Had a large oak tree pruned and the crown thinned. Also had a limb on another tree removed where it was close to a wire. The team spent a lot of time working on our trees and had no trouble complying with a couple of special requests. They were polite and informative and did a decent job of cleaning up after themselves. Despite all the debris they took away, there was a large amount of small twigs and a few slightly larger sticks and branches left behind but overall a nice job. With the amount of pruning done, what was missed was a small percentage of the overall amount cleaned up. We got more than one estimate for the work and Davey was the least expensive, even tho it still wasn't cheap. Based on that and the amount of work done we are very happy.

I have been using them since 1999. They are very reliable and experts in this area. They have a certified arborist on staff. Their price is higher than some, but worth it.

My experience with them went fine. I had no problems. Everything was okay except for the price.

There was nothing much they could do about it as it was a fungal infection and there was no treatment for it. They were prompt and were pleasant. They said we are very sorry to tell you that your tree is gone. I would rate them very highly. While he was here I had him price a tree for me and it was through the roof. I knew they were a premium service and that's why I asked them about my tree. We have had it for 40 years and it blooms on my two boy's birthdays and so it is a special tree to our family and I hate to lose it. I was hoping they would come up with a miracle cure but there wasn't. To my mind it was proof of climate change and that's 30 years of blooming which has changed now. They did not charge me as it was just a preliminary investigation. It would take a year or two to die. They came within two or three days of my call. They were on time and they called up to let me know he was coming. They would check if you are at home and when he had to tell me there was no miracle cure he was sympathetic about it. I don't mean he was not business like but he was sympathetic business like. They are very professional, competent and give you personable service but of course they are a premium service and have premium price. You pay for what you get. He knew or appeared to know what the problem was. He explained what it was and why we couldn't do anything about it. He also told me what I could expect in the future. He seemed to be quite intelligent about the subject and he said it in a clear and easy to understand way. He came very close to the time he said he would so I thought he was punctual. He appeared to know what it was and what could and couldn't be done and what to expect for the future since there wasn't any cure. I would contact them again if I had sick tree but not for tree trimming. There are gradations of things and you don't want somebody who doesn't know anything about tree trimming to trim your trees and on the other hand they are over skilled and that's why you get a high price. If I had to have a difficult tree to trim then I would hire them but if it was average I would get somebody else. For low skilled labor you get a low skill for high skill specifically for a fig tree you get high skill.

They did an excellent job. I had no idea how much trees cost to be treated. They were very professional, and cleaned up after themselves.

The Davey Tree Co. has cared for our old trees for many years. This year, when our 100-year-old silver maple showed signs of dying, we chose Davey to take the tree down and replace it with a Freeman maple. They were able to remove the old silver maple in one day (down to the stump) and without any damage at all to house, garage, or fence. The crew was efficient, polite, and thoroughly professional. The stump was subsequently ground down and they will wait until later in the fall to plant the new tree.We could not have asked for better service. The manager, Brad Wise, is very good at explaining what they will do and why it should be done. We could not be happier with the services Davey has rendered over the years and we will continue our business relationship with them. Yes, they may be a bit more expensive than some other tree services, but their professionalism and high level of expertise is worth the slight extra cost.

I have used Davey Tree for over a decade and have been thoroughly satisfied with their quality of work, so it is with regret that I find it necessary to write this review. For the last 18 months i have been disappointed with Davey Tree's customer service. Phone calls are not returned in a timely fashion. In fact, it has been taking 2-3 phone calls before a call is returned. I have been waiting for Davey Tree to trim hedges and flowering bushes since July. Barring the weather, too many weeks have passed and the job still remains. Finally, Wednesday, 8/24/11 is scheduled. The date arrives but Davey Tree doesn't. I did get a voice mail stating the prior job took longer than expected and asks if they can come Friday or Monday morning. A phone call to my contact confirms Monday morning 8/29/11. And ......Surprise.......another NO SHOW. The office secretary tells me I am scheduled for after 1p.m.. After telling her that is not right, she says my contact will call me back. Need I tell you, NO PHONE CALL BACK

Everything is great. They are very reasonably priced, and our grass has never been greener.

Davey Tree came out to inspect the trees and gave me a quote, including the insurance certificates required by my homeowners' association, the next day. The work was scheduled within a week, once I had the necessary approval. Although they had car trouble, and were about 2 hours late arriving, they let me know early what had happened and kept me informed of their arrival time. The work was done quickly and efficiently, and they did a good job of cleaning up. All in all I was very satisfied with the work done. I thought the price was fair, they responded very quickly to my initial inquiry and the whole job went very smoothly.

I keep calling them because everyone, from Matt Hess the arborist who is my first contact, to the crews who have been out to do the work have all been very professional, very pleasant and seem to go beyond what's required. The crew who trimmed the trees did a great job and made a point to apologize to my neighbor for some leaves/small branches that fell in their yard and assured them they would clean it all up which they did (and my yard too was cleaned up very well). The man who did the fertilizing last year knocked on the door to tell me he was here and what he was going to do and, when I asked him if he could recognize poison ivy, walked all around the yard with me and pointed out what was poison ivy and also what wasn't poison ivy. I was able to remove it (and avoid it) and this year for the first time in three years I don't have a horrible case of poison ivy after beginning my spring yard work. When I had the work done this year to remove the trees/weeds I arrived home just as the crew was getting ready to leave after completing the work. But the crew leader offered to take me to the back yard to show me all the work they had done. Again, not necessary but appreciated. Since I did not get estimates on price from other companies I can't really comment on their pricing. But I had some work done several years ago by a no-name handyman with a chain saw who did less and charged more than Davey so I feel their quality work is worth what I've paid for it. If you need any work done I would definitely recommend getting an estimate from them. I've recommended them to many of my friends.

It is great. I love Davey. They are reliable and they know what they are doing.

They are the best. We live in a condominium and I am the landscape person, so I had them come out and see if we could save this tree and they could not. We don’t pay the bills, we give them to the manger, and he takes care of them. So far we have been very happy with what they have done. We check their site and if they don’t have one, we won’t use them. We decided to use them because of their professionalism. They made an appointment when the time came for the appointment; they were here 15 minutes early.

We recently had part of a tree removed in our backyard. First off the crew did a great job removing the tree, my only complaint is they didn't take all the brush away from behind my garage which I requested and was in my price of $1500.00. They did call me back though and are going to come back and clean up the brush at no charge which I though was great. I had some communication problems with my sales person but he did apologize and they completed the work. Overall I would use them again as they did a great job removing half of a very large silver maple. They had to bring in a crane in order to not damage my garage (the tree was leaning against my garage) and they also had to be very careful because of all the power lines around the tree. They did a great job removing it and cleaning up. It was a big job and our backyard driveway is very narrow. I could hardly even tell they were there.

Excellent service, the guys were there on the day they said, completed the work in a timely manner and cleaned up the area. They were knowledgable and very happy to share information, suggestions and tips on helping maintain healthy tress. I would reccomend them and will use them again in the future.

Overall he did a sufficient job. I'm just objecting to the price.

the lawn aerification went very well, the lawn was thoroughly covered and deep cores were removed.. With respect to the tree trimming, I found that I needed to monitor the work being done - 2 items discussed when the estimate was made weren't done until I reminded the workers about them. Also I specified that I wanted the junipers in the front to be trimmed naturally and they were being trimmed by hedge trimmers until I noticed and pointed this out to the workers. I wish that I had looked at the junipers before the workers left, there were several high branches that should have been trimmed. I am not sure that I would use this company again, I used it this time because of my past experiences with Berquist. Berquist merged with Davey. And because of my past experiences with Berquist, I did not get competitive estimates. The next time I need tree care, I will get competitive estimates before I make a decision.

The trees branches grew very close to the property lines and Davey Tree Export Co. was very respecting of both our property and the neighbors. I don t know how they got both trees down with the proximity of the house. They were very cost effective I was surprised. They did everything in one morning. The clean up was immaculate. You couldn t even tell I had trees there. I have four neighbors who very easily could have had debris in their yards, but there was no debris left in their yards or mine. There were big holes in my yard. They didn t tear up the grass for me or my neighbors. The turn around time was great. I called in the last week of June and they had the trees down by the forth of July. I would hire them again.

Good service. Price on high side but you get what you pay for, usually.

They only took out the bushes an they left the trees there. They got in a fight with the power company. They were not prompt. They did not get back to us with phone calls. We ended up canceling the rest of the job.

I really liked that they are straight forward, direct and that do not try and take advantage of you. I can say this company is legitimate, fair and very moral. That is why I like them and I would surely recommend them to others.

I was very impressed with my experience with Davey. Matt Hess was quick to come out to my property and give me a competitive estimate. He thoroughly explained the process, including that the trees and stumps would be removed on different days, after the utilities are marked. When the work was done, the crew was fast, efficient, and cleaned up all the debris. The stump-grinding was done while I was away but seems to have been uneventful. Overall, the turnaround time was always less then they predicted, and they were always willing to answer my many questions.

Bid was 15% higher than winning bidder and 35% higher than lowest bid.
