The overall installation went ok. The whole process took an hour and a half (including a half hour to retrieve a part). I was expecting the price to be in the $100 range but the final cost was $280

About two months after they'd first come out, water was coming out of the drain like a geyser so I knew there was some type of backup. I called Excell and they came out the same day. They rodded from the basement out but they weren't able to go all the way out to the street because the pipe was broken. They put a TV camera into the opening in my basement and this confirmed it. They had to break the concrete in the driveway that's over the pipe. Next they dug down six feet to take out the pipe and replaced it with a plastic one and also put in a clean-out valve. Finally they replaced the concrete and everything is great.

On the outset, they were very good. They came on time, did the job well, left the place clean and did everything quite professionally. The only reason it is not 5 stars is because of a misunderstanding regarding the cost of the service - and I attribute it to Excel, Angies and myself as well. I bought another deal from Angies (1hr plumbing for $100) and the provider backed out saying they do not serve the area - which is a super simple thing for Angies and that provider to avoid. I called Angies for a refund and they sold me a deal from Excel which was $50 for $100 worth of service. The Angies lady actually asked what I wanted done, checked with Excel and came back to me and said that "sure this deal would take care of it" - all good.. Excel reached out to me to schedule service, they asked me twice over email what I wanted done, I told them twice that all I wanted done was to replace a faucet. I had to make another call to them and I was asked again and I told them again the same thing. There was another call-back to me asking if I would be providing the faucet. In none of these 4 interactions, I was told that the flat cost of replacing a faucet was actually $220. And to be fair, I did not ask that myself as well since I thought this deal covered it, since it was implied that way by Angies. So obviously, when the plumber showed up and said it was $220 and since I got a deal for $100 worth of service, and I had to pay him a balance of $120, I was taken completely aback!! It was more of an 'expectation setting' issue rather than an 'affordability' issue. In any case, I wanted this done, so I went ahead with it hoping it was a fair price. The job was done (and done well!) in about 20 minutes. Angies, Excel and I could have done a better job of determining the exact terms before the plumber showed up. And when there are other deals where I could have gotten 'an hour's worth of service for $100', I would not have felt really odd paying $170 for 20 mins. Anyways the long story is to suggest to other customers that it is best things are not left to inference and it is best to check every aspect before the service is scheduled. Also to advise Excel to be more forthcoming even if the customer does not ask about this. And Angies to get their service areas and deal terms right..

We were having a new roof installed on our house when the roofer said we needed to call a plumber because of a loose pipe in the roof. I started calling Angie's List plumbers and found Excel. The nice woman I spoke with was sympathetic and helpful and called me back, a few minutes later, to say they could have a plumber at our home in 2-3 hours. The plumber came, replaced the pipe and the roof construction continued with no problems. We were very grateful for Excel Plumbing and will certainly call them again in the future.

The two representatives were notably thorough and investigated several different ways to meet my objectives. They were very good about explaining what they were doing/investigating and provided their quote promptly. Unfortunately their #s were substantially higher than others I received. My guess is that Excel does more commercial than residential work.

It never went.. Igot no call back

I purchased one of the deals for $50 for $100 worth of service on 8/22/15. Due to my travel schedule, I scheduled the visit for 9/9/15. The technician Rick showed up on time, was very cordial and helpful with his recommendations. He fixed the hose spigot. When working on the shower faucet leak, he broke the cold water handle but she aid that was okay, it needed to be replaced. I was okay with that as he had to come back for the laundry faucet leak as well. Rick took a picture of the faucet, said there was someone at his office that was wonderful at looking up the parts and identifying the replacement part. I asked him how long it would take, he said a couple of weeks. On 9/27/15 I emailed through the Angie's list site and asked for an update. I received a response the next day from Thom Wright, apologizing and he said he saw the notes in the system from Rick. He wasn't in that day but he was to leave a message for him to speak with someone when Rick returned on 9/29/15 and they would let me know what was going on. To date (11/25/15) I have heard nothing from Excel Plumbing. I did research and fixed the shower faucet on my own, mind you the one that Rick broke trying to diagnose the issue. I sent them another email today advising them that since it was almost 3 months since the initial visit and 2 months since they promised to get back with me, I would be leaving negative feedback regarding my transaction. All of the emails are in my Angie's list account and can be verified.

Today went well and they will be back on Friday to complete the job Friday. Have used them before and highly recommend them. Reasonable prices and great employees.

We actually ended up having a break in the water valve but we didn't know how it happened. Three months later, I got a lot of water leaking from my ceiling. It took us a while to find out exactly what was going on. I didn't really fault them for that but what I heard from other plumbers, the way they did their work was probably the best way to do it, but they were very professional. At that time I thought the quality of the work was good but it took a while for the problem to uncover. I thought I'll never reach back to them regarding that. I think they did something from other profession because I used someone else to fix the water valve. That probably wasn't the best choice at that time but I did not know better. They are pretty timely, they are pretty professional, and they explained what they did. It's obvious I'm not a plumber and I don't know what's the best way to fix the water line. I thought they did the right thing. They probably thought they did the right thing too but overall my experience was good. They showed up on time, they did the work very fast, and they explained the work well. It's reasonable. They are not terribly expensive but they are not the cheapest.

Really worked around my schedule to get the job done. John was fantastic! He answered all my husband's seemingly endless questions. He let me know of options I didn't even know I had with the faucet & I love it. Very professional!

The plumber was prompt, courteous, and professional. I needed new parts for one of the toilets and he acquired them with little delay. He took the time to explain exactly what was needed and how much everything would cost. He repaired the second toilet at no charge, and also checked the line to the sewer to see if it was still tight (I had previously tightened it after noticing some drips)--also at no charge. I was very impressed and will definitely use him again.

I had drainage problems with my sewer line and asked them to come take a look. I was not there but my wife was to supervise. The plumber first tried to use camera to see problem but couldn't and instead rodded the line. When I got a bill for the camera instead of the rodding, I asked to see the video which they never produced. They claimed the problem was a collapsed pipe but did could not produce the video or use a locator (which my wife verified saying the plumber ran around the front yard empty handed) Unfortunately, my wife paid cash otherwise I would have reversed the charges and asked for a new invoice.

Glynn was very courteous, efficient and left the areas he worked in very clean. He completed the jobs in a very timely manner.

I had a crack in the pipe coming down from the sink drain. The plumber ran to the store to pick up his supplies and was back and done in a little over an hour. The job was done correctly and he cleaned up behind himself fairly well. There was a little sludge left in the cabinet, but I was not concerned with having to clean that up myself. I thought the cost of the job was a little pricey for the time spent, but plumbers are not cheap. I'm just glad my sink is now working properly.

Mark was reasonably on time. I was lead to believe that the problem was more extensive then it really was because of first floor ceiling damage from the leaks above . Signed contract . With some more investigating found out the pipes were in good shape so he reduced the price and I supplied the toilet . But it way over priced for the job he did ! I have a lot more plumbing needed for the building but you can bet these Rip offs wont be doing it! What a bad experience for the first time using Angie's list service. I guess you live and learn.Lots of crooks in this world!

Simple, straight-forward, competent. We had not heard of them before but plan to use them for all plumbing-related services going forward.

Everything went very smooth and work was done quickly and professionally. I highly recommend them to anyone with plumbing needs.

I purchased a coupon for $100 of plumbing service for $50 to fix a slow dripping of water from a shower head. Communication and scheduling were prompt and they arrived as promised. The work was completed professionally. When they arrived and looked at what was required I was told the cost would be $275.00 but with the coupon it would be $175.00 with a 30-day warranty. The option was to replace the entire valve which would be a lot more and require cutting into the wall behind the valve. The $175 price to replace the cartridge seemed high but the alternative was less attractive and I didn't know what the cost of the cartridge was.. From the time the plumber arrived until he left was 1.5 hours. After he finished I checked at Lowes and the cartridge retails for $40.00. If I subtract the price of the part at retail it leaves $235 for labor at their normal price or $185 for labor because I purchased the coupon. For 1.5 hours that is $156 per hour that I got for $123 per hour. Really disappointed in this hourly rate and this whole Angie's List Coupon thing. I guess I learned a lesson about buying a discount coupon for an unknown amount of service. You never know the starting point for the discount until it's too late. Lesson learned. Hope someone else benefits from my experience.

Rick got there on time. He was polite and courteous. After he listened to me about my concerns, he checked the sink, the pipes, the faucet and he also inspected my toilet and inside the tank. He showed me where the leaks were and he said all I needed was a new rubber flapper for the inside of the toilet tank. Then he showed me where the leak was on the kitchen faucet. It was in between where the hose and the handle for the spritzer and faucet which I did not notice. I saw water pooling around the bottom of the faucet plate but I couldn't tell where it was coming from. Rick told me how the faucet was put together and I remembered that was what was told to me before. Other faucets had parts that could be fixed. I didn't think it would matter so I decided to buy it anyway. Our water went from well to city water in the past year and the water used to be real hard. Which is h****** rubber and why the flapper and the washer had been affected. This made sense because I needed to change the washers for my outside faucet. So everything he said made sense. He showed me how brittle the rubber had gotten so I could see for myself what the problem was. I really liked that. I also had concerns about the pitch of some water pipes in my basement. He explained that the pitch wasn't right and that was why my sink in the bathroom was slow or would clog. He explained all about it and I could see for myself what was pitched and in good shape and where the one place was, where it wasn't. I liked this very much because it made sense. I never once thought I was being scammed or upsold or anything like that. And I have had that happen before in my life time so I really appreciated his honesty and communication skills. Rick did a great job. He got right to work and he cleaned up after himself and everything works and I don;t have any leaks. He is going to get a bid back to me for the work on that pipe and I am definitely going to do business with EXCEL and have them handle this repair as well. I am very happy.

The technician was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be using their service in the future.

It was a simple fix. They came and replaced the leaky pipe and showed me the leak had stopped. It was very quick!

I didn't do the work with this company. Please i need a full refund for what I paid I ended up not using their service because the quote they have me afterwards is totally too much. I called them for a refund and they want me to contact Angies list for refund Thanks Joseph

This was a big deal and it was okay. I paid above the price of the big deal.
