Even though I mentioned this to the previous company I used, they implied there was nothing they could do - it was just poor workmanship by the original installers. Without even mentioning it to the service man for this company, he fixed the problem so I can easily insert and remove filters. I did get their annual maintenance package. I was very pleased with this company.

 + -1 moreVery informative and answer questions promptly. Always responded to call, questions. Additional problem found with humidifier at furnace install that was missed on service call. Fix for free. Price quote process for furnace and A/C very informative and fair. Spent lots of time with us in cost benefit analysis and problem solving to avoid over spending on the furnace. I was ready to spend big on the 94% efficiency. We ended up with a 80% efficiency 2-stage, variable speed fan furnace with their counseling. Good employees! Excellent customer service.
Description of Work: We use them for furnace and A/C service contract twice per year. This time they found problems with furnace. Although we planned to repair it, when they came to take apart the furnace for repair, the damage was bad. High chance of carbon monoxide leak. Bought a new furnace and AC from them due to comments on Angie's list and the BBB. Great customer service, courteous, on-time, eager to please, gave us every discount possible including a break on duct cleaning to go with new air cleaner on furnace. Very satisfied. Will continue as customer and recommend them to friends and family.

The technician (Tim) was honest in telling me about possible problems & whether they should be fixed now or could wait. The $79 cost only covers the flame sensor. I have a service contract which covers the cost of the cleanings.

 + -1 moreThe service tech was able to leave us with a quote for the new furnace. However, when we called to get a competitive quote on a different system we need to repeatedly ask for additional details on the quote although we faxed our detailed request to them THREE times. In the end we opted to go with another company for the furnace replacement. When the 2nd company came out to install the new furnace they found that Comfort Masters didn't bother to clean the air purifier filters which is attached to the furnace.
Description of Work: They did a furnace and AC clean and check which went fine. In doing so they informed us our furnace needed some expensive repairs and we should consider replacing it with a new one.

 + -1 moreI was pleased with the experience. Because our house is so old we needed a unique system to cool everything down. Tom, the sales man came out last minute on a Saturday and was extremely knowledgeable. We felt comfortable with him right off the bat. The installers we right on time and worked HARD to get the entire job done in three days (they had quote us 4-5 days). My only complaint was that the clean up was extremely bad. The installers used a swiffer, which is fine in theory and they had worked really hard and done a great job - but my house was a WRECK and covered in plaster dust from top to bottom - I would have liked to have seen a more professional clean up, from someone other than the installers. They were also the most expensive bid we got, but we felt more comfortable with them than any other company. We plan to use them for all HVAC work from here on out.

Description of Work: They did maintenance of the air conditioning system. They simply checked on the status and perform necessary tasks. The A/C was cleaned, checked the electronics, refilled freon and added some synthetic liquid to help with the efficiency and durability, added a hard start kit to help the compressor start easier and last longer. A/C is about 5 or 6 years old and should last another 3 to 4 years after the 'upgrades'. Work was done quickly and well. Mike provided good advice and information on what each upgrade is for, why it's recommended and how it's gonna improve things.

air duct cleaning
 + -1 moreThe guys were on time. When they brought the cleaning equipment inside the house, they threw one of the hose attachments onto our couch which I wasn't too happy about. Nothing got damaged or dirtied though. The price seemed rather on the high end for the amount of work done and the time it took to do the work. It seems that this is their standard price, no matter how big the house is. I didn't get any estimates from any other companies, but I'm fairly certain, that I could've gotten it cheaper and probably got the same quality. I wouldn't hire them again for air duct cleaning. We have a maintenance contract for our furnace/ac with them which we're happy with.
Description of Work: Our airducts hadn't been cleaned in many years. We needed to get them done. Two guys came by with the large 'vacuum cleaner', long hose and brush. I had to open up all vents so that they could get to them, however the vents are very narrow and the hose was too large to get down there. So they only cleaned from there what they could. Then in the basement they cut several holes into the air ducts in order to get into the ducts and clean them out. They were done in about 1 hour as it's a fairly small house with few ducts. I had the impression that the cleaning was only ok because after all the holes were closed again and the air was turned back on, there was a lot of stuff that got caught in the air filter. I had to clean them several times. Neither they nor I had any way of inspecting the ducts from the inside to see if was properly cleaned. Despite all that, I was satisfied with the result.

 + -1 moreContacted Golden Seal first thing on Monday morning. Advised that engineer could be with us later that morning. Engineer called back to confirm he would call at 11:00 am. Arrived exactly when he said he would, was very polite and professional and quickly identified fault. The engineer identified a faulty control board and advised that replacement cost would be in the region of $500. However, due to age and condition of furnace, he suggested that we should consider replacing the whole thing. An appointment was arranged for 4:30 that afternoon. The engineer returned on time with his manager, Dave Vic, clearly explained all our options and alternatives. The new system was installed the next day. When I returned from work at around 5:00 pm, it was up and running and the house was warm. Overall, a very good experience.
Description of Work: Called out to investigate an old furnace that would not start. Ended up having complete new furnace, humidifier and water heater replaced. In addition, I also had two new ducts added to the system to provide better ventilation in my basement.

 + -1 moreThe technician came out on Super Bowl Sunday and couldn't have been more professional and pleasant. We were very pleased with the service and didn't feel that we were gouged since it was a weekend and the Super Bowl, no less. I would highly recommend!
Description of Work: Our furnace was shutting off before reaching our thermostat setting and the house was cold! A technician arrived within 2 hours of our call, inspected the furnace and determined we were using the wrong type of furnace filter and also ''tweaked'' a few components. The furnace has been working better ever since.

It took a long time to determine the problem, as an electrical circuit had blown and the second fuse box had to be bypassed to determine the issue. The blower motor had gone out. The repair technician recommended a new furnace, rather than putting money into such an old one - but as it was very cold, and I had no more vacation time at work, I didn't want to wait days for heat. I was disappointed he had no blower motor on his truck and had to get one at a local shop which cost more.
Description of Work: Determined problem with my furnace, and replaced blower motor that had gone out.

HE ALSO TOLD US AFTER HE WAS FINISHED THAT ALTHOUGH THE DUCTS HAD NEVER BEEN CLEANED IN THE 13 YEARS OF THE CONDO'S EXISTENCE, THAT THEY REALLY WEREN'T IN BAD SHAPE & THAT HE WOULDN'T BOTHER CLEANING THEM AGAIN FOR AT LEAST FIVE YEARS. WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THIS LEVEL OF HONESTY, SINCE MANY COMPANIES WILL TRY TO CONVINCE YOU THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE SERVICE DONE ON A MORE REGULAR BASIS SO THAT THEY HAVE MORE WORK. WE WILL DEFINITELY CALL THEM AGAIN IF WE HAVE ANY OTHER WORK REQUIRED FOR OUR FURNACE OR OUR AIR CONDITIONER (BOTH OF WHICH ARE 13 YEARS OLD & WERE NOT THE HIGHEST QUALITY, SO THEY WILL PROBABLY NEED SOMETHING SOON).

CAME OUT FIRST TO GIVE ME ALL THE INFORMATION ABOUT SOME DIFFERENT UNITS AND TO GIVE ME PRICE ESTIMATES ON THOSE DIFFERENT UNITS. WHEN WE DECIDED TO GO AHEAD WITH ONE OF THE UNITS, I CALLED THE REP. BACK TO ARRANGE FOR FINANCING AND TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR INSTALLATION. THE INSTALLATION WENT SMOOTHLY BUT IT TOOK LONGER THAN I HAD EXPECTED. IT WAS A HOT DAY SO THAT MORE THAN LIKELY ADDED TO THE TIME THE JOB TOOK. THE NEW A/C WORKS GREAT AND IT CARRIES A WARRANTY.
