Good communication; Robert texted the night before to confirm address and time. He was punctual and they both worked hard during the time agreed upon. Robert even came back the next day at no extra charge to complete the work. Excellent job. Excellent clean up. Very professional.

His work and sub contractors work was deemed by our city inspectors as FAILED to comply with any city and state code! After being offered to put in a resolution dispute, which Angie's List suggested which prevented us from giving him a failing grade in our original review. We were just notified by Angie's List that the contractor is unwilling to resolve this issue! Which still keeps him active on there site. Which I might add we are out $5,343 we were able to re coop 2,000 from CC company. BEWARE AS HIS STATUS SHOW NOW IS NOT LICENSED!!!!!!!! Update 7/17/2017: This has been a nightmare and a headache we've been dealing with since 2015. We took this provider to court, and had a bench trial and we won the case. During the trial he said that his business was registered with the state and licensed during our build but he was not. He basically told the judge that the he's just out to make money. None of his subcontractors were licensed either, during our build. When you hire a contractor make sure and check with the state to make sure they are licensed and registered before you have them do the work.

The previous handyman had left the walls in a disgusting mess. Scott came in and in 2 days has my bathroom looking beautiful They were punctual, finished the job in a timely fashion. Very considerate. I would not hesitate to use and or recommend them.

Excellent ! Was having problem with rodents entering house from opening. Rob totally fixed the problem, and I no longer have a rodent problem in the house.

No one wanted to touch this project, either because they'd rather do full shower jobs or didn't want to risk the liability of breaking the door. Robert at Silver Hammer was willing to take the job. With Warren, they took down the door and adjacent glass shower wall, replaced the tile, added a header in the attic, and securely anchored the door. Throughout their attention to detail was great. For instance, they ensured no metal ever touched the ceramic tile. All screws and brackets were buffered with a gasket or plastic shim to prevent future cracking (this hadn't been done previously). After using silicon to re-attach the shower, they returned for clean up, all is great, and, most importantly, my wife and I are safe. They also fixed some grout holes in the shower floor and graciously re-did that work when the pre-mix grout I gave them did not set and washed out (my fault and I won't buy pre-mix again).

After agreeing to do the work, Silver Hammer put me off several times. The owner claimed someone had quit to explain multiple delays. Then the company stopped answering my phone calls. Basically, I paid, but no work was ever done.

The work went very well. Robert was responsive to my first inquiry. He took at look at the job, and emailed the estimate promptly. The day of the work he arrived with his helper, and began promptly. While working on the gutters, they encountered a problem with my roof rafter, Robert brought it to my attention, and actually came up with a great solution to remedy the problem. He didn't charge more though, this problem probably added more time to the job. He needed to purchase $27.00 worth of additional material, which he added to the bill, but he then deducted the Angieslist discount, which took care of the small increase for additional materials. Robert and his helper did a great job, and I will definitely use Silver Hammer again.

Once we connected to set the contract, they were very good. The quality of the carpentry and painting was top-notch and they had good ideas concerning how to improve the project - rather than just rebuild as before. We needed more work than we had originally expected and they were upfront about the extra costs and did not make changes until we had approved them. All in all, we were very favorably impressed with their work and would definitely hire them again.

We needed to replace a side door on our garage before new siding was installed. I've used Silver Hammer for two other projects and called Robert to see if they could squeeze us in. His installer was out in a few days and the project was completed quickly and efficiently. I've been extremely happy with Robert and his crew and will certainly use them again.

Robert did the majority of the work himself, He did not contract out the work to other people. Robert did an excellent job. He arrived when he said he would, and let me know when he would arrive each day. We have not run the air conditioner yet this summer, but I assume that the new drain line will work and solve the problem of leaking (and therefore damaging) the ceiling.

We had a great experience with Silver Hammer Construction (SHC)! My wife and I were a little over ambitious with our DYI remodeling plans. After we tried (and failed) to repair the drywall ourselves in our kitchen (damaged from removing an old back splash) we decided to call a professional. We were impressed with the efficiency and quality of the drywall project, we decided to have SCH mount our new kitchen cabinets and crown molding for us. Beautifully done! After seeing how well the drywall and cabinets we done, we decided to have SHC install our back splash. Again, we couldn't have been more pleased. Throughout the process, I found myself seeking Robert's recommendations for how we should proceed with some of the minor modifications in the kitchen from trim, to molding, to shelving, etc. I really trusted his judgement and recommendations, and were not at all disappointed! Robert from SHC was very responsive and attentive to the many requests, and changes that we made throughout the process. Quite a few times throughout the process he would come back by the house after hours to address any issues or changes that we needed. Robert and Silver Hammer Construction went out of their way to ensure that we were completely satisfied with the work that was done. I will definitely work with them again!

We called Silver Hammer Home Services on 3-1-16 and left a message regarding the service we needed - to trim and hang an interior French door in our family room. Robert Olmstead returned the call within the hour, listened to what we needed and offered to come out as early as he could, which was 3 days later on 3-4-16. He asked relevant questions about the project and gave an estimate of cost. On Friday, March 4, Robert arrived right on time; he was pleasant, looked at the door and explained what he would do and why. He estiimated how long it would take, and got to work. He had the door trimmed and hung within 60 minutes, just as he said. His work was accurate and neat; and there was absolutely no clean up for us to do. As a matter of fact, Robert did such a good job that we asked him to give us a proposal for some electric work, cabinet removal and painting in another room on the lower level. He listened carefully to what we wanted, wrote up a proposal, and we have already agreed on project dates. We are also going to work with him in the future regarding a bathroom remodel. Robert was punctual, thorough, did quality work, and was very polite and friendly. He listens carefully, offers pertinent suggestions, and his pricing is very reasonable. I would highly recommend Robert Olmstead and Silver Hammer Home Services.

The high winds from last week cracked my mailbox post to the ground. I called Silver Hammer on Friday and it was replaced by Monday. The cost of labor, a pressure treated wood post with arm, and a 24" steel anchor into the ground cost $160. It was fast and professional service that I can always count on. I've had Silver Hammer do quite a few big and small jobs over the years and they've always never disappointed. They do quality work and are reasonably priced. Thanks again Silver Hammer!

It went really well. Robert came out and gave me an estimate then gave me ample time to think it over and prep some materials. He came up with some very clever solutions for rather difficult problems with the shower door. He charged very fair prices, and made suggestions for upkeep after he was done. I will definitely call on him again if anything comes up.

Robert was absolutely great and I'm so glad we went with him. He was very reasonably priced, knowledgeable, and professional. He responded and provided an estimate the same day of my inquiry and finished the job in one day. We will definitely use his services in the future. I think we found our handyman for life.

Robert was punctual for the quote, we went over everything. He was to send me a bid with options via email. It never came. Nothing. I called and left a message asking for the quote and got no response. I asked him to quote this job because a year prior I was just about to sign a contract with him, was a great bid and he was a straight shooter. He had to step back from it when he got a huge contract that he couldn't turn down. No problem. A few months before this kitchen non-quote, we used Robert for a tile job and the communication was a bit slow to start. I don't know what the issue is, but it's going downhill. I won't be calling him again, or recommend to anyone else.

Gravel trim, fascia, sofets, posts, painting of the porch and labor, one post in front porch is sinking, the aluminum wrapping is starting to peel off. Statement to my wife was he said it would happen. Why fix it when it will happen again. He said an additional cost to fix it. That statement never happened to me or my wife. If that was the case we would have had him give us a quote and to fix it beforehand. He has not been forthright with us.

Robert arrived quickly to create an estimate for the repairs. That was the only positive. At the end of the estimate, he stated and also put into writing that he would arrive the next day to tar the leaky roof as an emergency repair to get through the heavy rain due on the 21st. He also asked for a check as a down payment to start the project. I gave him a check for 40% of the amount of the repairs. He never showed up for the emergency roof repair...never called...nothing...but he certainly made a dash to the bank to cash the check! He never showed for the other repairs and he didn't even bother to call. In panic for the impending heavy rains...I climbed up on the roof myself and tarred the roof. I am an older adult female and have no business climbing up on roofs! This company was fraudulent in promising an emergency repair, then no show no contact yet cashing the check. This was a despicable act . Anyone looking to use them should think twice. They can't be trusted. I contacted Angie's list to inform them of my experience and they contacted the company. Three days later, the contractor arrived at my home with a check for the full amount of my check. I cashed it immediately. Thanks to Angie's list to handle the situation.

No work has been done. This company has never responded to my request to come to my house and assess what I needed to repair.

We called Robert to look on our kitchen sink pipes that leaked and opened up, which drained lots of water down to the basement. He diagnosed the problem and proceeded to work on the plumbing issue(s) for about 40 minutes. He reconfigure the pipes and tubing the way it should have been set up. The old system has this long corrugated pipe coiled haplessly under the kitchen sink. He was knowledgeable on the problem, he answered our questions including our leaking front door and an estimate/plan for a hardwood floor installation and wood staining (future project).

Excellent work- can't see where the AC was mounted on the wall inside and can't see where the pipes ran/were attached to the outside of the house from the second floor to the outside unit. We have old aluminum siding that is no longer made - some had to be replaced where the biggest hole was but they found a very close match and painted it and it looks like new. Highly recommend and I will use again.

I highly recommend Silver Hammer Construction for deck repair and maintenance and I plan to use them again. Robert was very helpful and professional. Silver Hammer replaced a split deck board (matching the board to my 20 years old deck), removed old lights surrounding the deck, and replaced an electrical outlet. They did a great job staining the deck and making it look like new. I plan to use them again to help me maintain the deck and for any future work.

Excellent work, performed on time and within the budget. Would definitely use this company again.
