+ -1 moreOne year everyone's yard was brown when we did not have rain for a while. When we finally received the needed rain, my neighbors yards turned green again, but mine did not. I called them about it and they said that there was nothing they could do. The following spring there were large dead spots in my lawn, so I called them again. Nothing was done, so I cancelled the service. I too got pleading over the phone not to cancel, but it was too late. My yard is still not back to par and it has been two years. I still have dead spots that I am treating myself. I would not recommend Tru-Green to anyone.
Description of Work: I used Tru-Green Chemlawn for three years. The contract was for 4 treatments a year plus aeration each year. We were very happy with the service until the last year. They provided 6 treatments instead of 4 and I never knew when they were coming. .

+ -1 moreI called in mid August to find out why I didn't receive the free grub treatment, I was promised. And also about damage to my yard. I was told I would receive grub treatment in a couple of days. No one showed. A week later I called to quit the service. They wanted me to stay as a customer and would send a manager out to look at my yard damage within 24 hours. Again no show and I called again (3rd. time) to quit the service. 6 days after I quit they applied Treatment #5 and invoiced me. I send them a letter with all my complaints on 9/11/12. Never heard from anyone. I would never recommend This company to anyone.
Description of Work: I signed up for 6 lawn treatments and 1 free grub treatment. Treatment #1 started on 3/26/12. I quit after receiving 4 treatments. The 4th one was on 7/30/12. Never received a grub treatment.

+ 1 moreTruGreen is a prompt and professional company. However, they are marketing hounds and you must tell them to stop calling you trying to sell new services. The tree and shrub care (although well promoted) is not very effective. We ended up with plenty of problems with our shrubs especially that I expected their services to prevent. We also ended up with dead grass and plenty of weeds.
Description of Work: I did spring and fall fertilization and lawn care service and tree and shrub care.

+ -1 moreI started in Oct 2011 and they used a very strong weed kill agent that made some bare spots. I also had them aerate, fertilize trees and grass. This spring I had a lot of weeds as I had decided to cancel the service based on pricing. They gave a good comparison if I had to purchase fertilizer and equipment so I said go ahead and prepaid the year. They came out in a few days and actually did kill off most of the weeds. I have a separate landscaper that does a fall and spring cleanup and aerates for much much cheaper but I do cut the grass myself. I am thinking of having him do the fertilizer as well. Overall they do what they say always leave a nice note of the work done and call ahead before they treat the lawn. I'm not sure about all the chemicals going into my lawn so often. They do have organic treatments but again I feel I can find similar results at lower costs. I could also do without the sales calls about aeration and other services. I feel most of their customers probably know exactly what they want done and don't need the marketing every few months.
Description of Work: Annual lawn services 7 treatments. I also have to note that I just had moved in to my home in Oct 2011 and according to my neighbors the lawn was just re-sodded a year or two before I moved in so the soil and grass were in very good shape. I wanted to continue to keep the lawn looking very nice.

+ -1 morehandle your account. They can do the job...if they want to. Maybe it is the economy and they are cutting back on what they put on the lawns but it just seems over the last few years they don't want to.
Description of Work: I have used TruGreen on my various properties over the last 15 years...long before they were ever using their current name. Never had many problems with them till the last three years. They totally destroyed my office property three years ago but at least they admitted their mistakes and worked hard to fix it. Last year it was another property and this year two of the properties look like they were never fertilized at all and more resemble "cow pastures" than home lawns. I went out and bought a bag of Scotts myself in June and did my front yard on one of the properties to see if there was anything that could be done to correct what they were doing to the grass. Results: One application of Scotts and here in August that part of the lawn looks like New Laid Sod. while the part TruGreen handled still looks like cow pastures. By the way, all the properties have sprinkler systems that are used regularly so that is not a concern. Brought the problem up to my local rep but that got me nowhere after several weeks of her not returning my calls. Weeks later I only got frantic requests from her to not cancel my account. Finally got a hold of the regional rep and he couldn't understand my concern. After his inspection he said "Nothing that couldn't be handled with a weed application" Isn't that exactly what I pay TruGreen for in the first place? Anyway, after three years of chasing TruGreen to do their job I have closed my account. I will find someone (probably my lawn maintenance company) to put Scotts down for me in the future. At least I will know what is happening with the grass in the future. As for TruGreen, I think at this point it is a real hit and miss company. If you go on-line you will find hundreds and hundreds of complaints filed against them. Personally I think your results and satisfaction will more be based on who at TruGreen you get to

+ -1 moreMy TruGreen rep is actually out of the Hickory Hills office. And I have used TruGreen before in the past and had no problem with them. I used them for Lawn Maintenance and Fertilization and they do good work. The materials they use does green up your lawn if you follow their recommendations regarding watering. They do come out in between your service time and do extra upkeep for free. They are knowledgeable in their field. And the cost for their ongoing service and other services is reasonable and competitive. We had issues with their punctuality in the beginning (we have a locked gate) but even that improved with time as well as their customer service.Overall since starting our service again with TruGreen our lawn looks better than before and we are satisfied with them thus far. The reason I give them a C rating is because we just started our service back with them a few months ago. The rating may change once we have been with them continuously for about 2 terms.
Description of Work: We use TruGreen for Lawn Maintenance and Fertilization. We have used them for aeration, overseeding, grub control, etc. All went well and our lawn flourished.

I called them several weeks ago and told them about the weed issue and they still have not made any attempt to correct the issue. This is a terrible vendor. Will never use them again. I am hiring another company to take care of this.

Description of Work: I hire TruGreen for fertilizing services. I have used them off and on for 6yrs now and am very satisfied with their work. I have work with several of their offices. But I wasn't all that pleased with the work of their Hickory Hills office. But that may be more due to us not doing our part in caring for the lawn. But overall in the past I have been pleased with them, their work and prices. I am not using them now because we are getting some landscaping work done but I do plan to go back to them in the future. I've also used them for grub control and aeration. The cost was good and the services went well. I was satisfied.

+ 0 moreThey're pretty good! If you have questions like about with spots missed, they'll come back, as needed. They do give a bit of a discount if you pay for a full season of work ahead of time. They work around your schedule. I've noticed that some of my neighbors have also elected to use them, as well.

+ -1 moreThey are very good. They tend to slip a little may be it is too big company but sometimes they are little late for treating our lawn but it’s not a problem. Couple of times I had to call them but it’s really not a problem. As far as the date of service their punctuality is not that good. They are real good and they leave accurate notes on the lawn condition.
