TruGreen Lawn Care - 5550

This company solicited my business by giving me a page of coupons to use for various services they provide. I paid for the treatment and included a coupon for a percentage off the price of special services such as the grub control. I received many phone calls at my home and when I finally spoke to their customer service representative she was rude and harrassing saying I had no right to use the coupon as I had already used another type of coupon for a different service. There was nothing on the coupon stating only one could be used off the sheet they gave me. They were very unprofessional.

I think they do not live up to their word so after this year I'm going to look for someone else.

Do not use this company if you value your time and peace of mind. We used their service last summer. The weeds kept coming, even after several "re-do,s". Then they wanted to come back 4 more times in the fall to apply fertilizer. 4 times? So we cancelled last October. In April this year, Chemlawn showed up, unannounced, no advance warning or call, and sprayed, killing several areas I had just seeded. I called them up and yelled at them and told them we had cancelled. They said no problem, it's cancelled. Then they sent a bill. I called back and they said, no problem the bill has been voided. They sent two more bills, one time billing was on vacation, another time, "oh, it's been cancelled already, our system just has to process." I'm running out of space, so a summary. A call with the manager; 2 more calls - each time "don't worry" about the bill and this morning I got a bill. Uggh! Insult to injury-their telemarketers won't stop calling to sell new service.

Service was horrible. I watched technician just do corners of our lawn. He was in and out in less than 5 min. They call all the time sometimes after 8pm at night. I told them repeatedly that I don't want to continue their service and they still showed up and call. People on the phone are rude and demeaning in trying to prove you wrong.

They were easy to get a hold of and were professional. Looks as if it is working well, lawn is flourishing. Once we had an extra type of weed we didn't have in the past and they made an extra trip just to treat this weed. They were convenient because they had shrub and tree care so we were able to get that service too.

Overall, the company does a good job. The lawn looks nice the majority of the year. The company comes on a regularly scheduled basis. They also proactively call to determine if we are interested in additional services such as grub prevention. We do not have much interation from them outside of these phone calls.

The price entered above is the per application price for regular fertilization and pest treatments. I'm generally OK with the service TruGreen provides. My yard looks good, they always notify me after work has been done so that people stay off the lawn and they seem to be pretty precise with their applications. My only complaint is that they don't really check ahead of time to see if I actually can water in the items they apply after they apply it. So, sometimes I wonder if I'm paying for something that isn't working, because I was out of town at the time they applied it. Obviously, this is not something that has caused me to discontinue service, but it is a frustration.

They leave signs in the yard each time they apply a treatment. We have had bad experiences with other lawn services in which the chemicals actually burned the grass but we have had no problems with the formulations used by TruGreen-ChemLawn.

We were very dissatisfied with the TruGreen ChemLawn results. We ended up with them because they bought out Greenlon whom we had used for over a decade. The lawn never looked very good- more weeds than I'd seen in a decade. Worse yet, although we had pre-paid for a full season's worth of treatments from Greenlon, ChemLawn kept calling to request permission to do additional treatments. Evidently they provide 8+ treatments/season. Initially I authorized it, but I finally just told them "no". I'm not sure when if it was ever going to end! They blamed the results on the draught during the summer, but we've had other dry summers & never had as poor of results as we are very diligent about watering. We're looking for a new company!

The company was pleasant on the phone, & explained the recommended treatments & why they thought we needed them. They always posted a sign & left an invoice when they provided a treatment. They also offered a convenient credit card payment plan.

The service was on par with my expectations. They didn't do a fantastic job, but they did manage to keep the weeds from taking over my lawn. I would consider them in the future.

Overall, I like the promptness & the helpfulness of the company when I called. I didn't see great results with my lawn, or feel that the treatment was "specialized" for my particular yard.

INSECTICIDE WAS APPLIED WHEN I WAS NOT HOME. THIS IS OK, BUT HE FORGOT TO MARK ITS APPLICATION WITH A SIGN MARKER LIKE THEY USUALLY DO. THE BILL AND DATA SHEET WAS LEFT WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO WATER LAWN AFTER APPLICATION.

NEVER AGAIN. AFTER THE WEED CONTROL HAD BEEN APPLIED TO MY LAWN, THERE WERE, A WEEK LATER, STILL MANY WEEDS. I CALLED, AND CALLED, AND CALLED TO GET ANOTHER APPLICATION. NO ONE FROM TRUGREEN CHEMLAWN EVER RETURNED MY CALLS. NOW, WHEN I DECIDED THAT I WASN'T GOING TO PAY FOR AN APPLICATION THAT WASN'T EFFECTIVE, THEN I GOT CALLS! LOTS OF CALLS! EACH CUSTOMER REPRESENTATIVE THAT PHONED ME, AND IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS A DIFFERENT REP EACH TIME, PROMISED TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION, BUT THERE WAS NEVER ANY ACTION TAKEN. I FINALLY ENDED UP PAYING THE BILL JUST TO GET THEM OFF MY BACK.

THEY WERE GOOD ABOUT REDUCING THEIR INITIAL QUOTE ONCE I TOLD THEM THEIR QUOTE WAS ON THE HIGH END. HOWEVER, THEY WERE NOT CONSISTENT ABOUT ACTUALLY APPLYING THE WEED CONTROL THAT I WAS PAYING THEM TO APPLY. APPARENTLY THEY CANNOT APPLY IT WHEN IT IS TOO WINDY. BUT, RATHER THAN AUTOMATICALLY COME BACK ON A LESS WINDY DAY, YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THEIR STATEMENT CAREFULLY TO SEE WHETHER OR NOT THEY APPLIED THE CHEMICAL & CALL THEM TO COMPLAIN IF THEY DID NOT. ONCE YOU'RE IN THEY'RE SYSTEM, THEY ALSO START CALLING TO GET YOU TO BUY VARIOUS OTHER LAWN RELATED PRODUCTS. OVERALL, A BIT OF A HASSLE EXPERIENCE.

NOT THE MOST RELIABLE GUYS IN THE WORLD. THEY SHOWED UP ON TIME, BUT DIDN'T ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT WE ASKED FOR A CERTAIN KIND OF TREATMENT SINCE WE HAVE PETS AND DIDN'T WANT THEM EXPOSED TO HARMFUL CHEMICALS. WE JUST MOVED TO A NEW HOME, THEY CALLED ME AT LEAST 5 TIMES - THREE TIMES TO TRY AND COME TREAT THE LAWN AFTER I HAD SAID I WAS CANCELING, AND TWICE TO TRY AND SELL ME ON SERVICE AT THE NEW HOUSE, AFTER I HAD EXPLAINED IT IS HANDLED BY OUR HOMEOWNERS' ASSOCIATION AND I DON'T NEED A LAWN SERVICE ANYMORE. VERY ANNOYING. NOT THE BRIGHTEST TOOLS IN THE SHED.

I CALLED FOR AN ESTIMATE AND THEY OFFERED ME A PRICE IF I GAVE A CREDIT CARD RIGHT AWAY. I ASKED THEM TO FAX ME OR MAIL ME AND ESTIMATE AND THEY REFUSED AND SAID IT WAS AN OFFER ONLY RIGHT AWAY ON THE PHONE. THIS IS REALLY ODD COMING FROM A LARGE COMPANY. THEN SOMEONE CALLED BACK A MONTH LATER MAKING ME AN OFFER AND AGAIN WOULD NOT FAX OR MAIL AN ESTIMATE. THIS WAS COMPLETELY STRANGE SO I OPTED NOT TO GIVE ANY CREDIT CARD OR INFORMATION AND DID NOT PURSUE IT ANY FURTHER.

OUR GRASS LOOKS BETTER THAN IT HAS IN YEARS. IT IS FULL AND GREEN WITH NO MORE PATCHES AND NO WEEDS.

WAS CONTACTED IN SPRING OF 2005 BY REPRESENTATIVE INFORMING ME THAT THEY WOULD BE OUT TO SERVICE LAWN. I TOLD THEM I WAS NOT READY TO RESUME SERVICE AND WOULD NOTIFY THEM WHEN I WAS READY. SENT TECHNICIAN OUT ANYWAY..I DID NOT ORDER SERVICE, I REFUSED TO PAY. THEY CONTINUED CALLING, SENDING TECHNICIANS OUT. VERY PERSISTENT, BORDERLINE HARASSING. BETWEEN SEPT. 21 AND OCT. 3 I RECEIVED NINE (9) CALLS. TWO TECHNICIANS SHOWED UP ON OCTOBER 5. I CALLED OFFICE AND FILED ANOTHER COMPLAINT. THAT POLICY OF CONTINUING SERVICE YEAR TO YEAR WITHOUT CUSTOMER APPROVAL STINKS AS DOES THIS COMPANY. I AM SO FED UP WITH THIS COMPANY UNTIL I THREATENED TO GO TO THE STATE'S ATTORNEY AND BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. CONTINUED TO CALL EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE TOLD THAT MY NUMBER IS ON DO NOT CALL LIST. HAVE NO RESPECT FOR CUSTOMERS.

WE HAVE HAD GREAT SUCCESS WITH TRUGREEN CHEMLAWN. LAST YEAR WE STRUGGLED WITH CRABGRASS OVERTAKING OUR LAWN. WE CONTACTED TRUGREEN & THUS FAR OUR LAWN HAS BEEN MUCH IMPROVED. THIS IS OUR FIRST YEAR OF SERVICE.

I NORMALLY WOULDN'T NOTICE THAT LAWN WORK ISN'T DONE; WE'RE NOT SCRUPULOUS ABOUT THE LAWN. BUT IT HAPPENED THAT I WAS IN THE BASEMENT AND SAW THROUGH THE WINDOW THE TECHNICIAN STRUGGLING UNSUCCESSFULLY TO GET HIS WIDE AERATOR THROUGH OUR NARROW BACKYARD GATE. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE BILL, DAYS LATER, I CHECKED FRONT AND BACK. THE AERATION PELLETS WERE VISIBLE IN THE FRONT, BUT NOT THE BACK. THE MANAGER WAS APOLOGETIC, ASSURING ME OF HIS CONCERN AND SAYING THERE WOULD BE A RE-DO AND A 50% DISCOUNT. I EXPECT THE RE-DO, OF COURSE, BUT WAS SURPRISED THAT HE WAS NOT MORE CONCERNED ABOUT A CUSTOMER BEING BILLED FOR WORK NOT DONE ON A $110 JOB. PERHAPS UNRELATED IS THE CALL I HAD BEFORE THE AERATION ASKING TO MOVE OUR LAWN WORK FROM MID-WEEK TO THE END OF THE WEEK. AS INDICATED, THE AERATION WAS DONE ON THE FRIDAY MORNING BEFORE LABOR DAY WEEKEND. I HAVE WRITTEN ASKED FOR A WAIVER OF THE BILL, THAT THE TECHNICIAN NOT BE REASSIGNED TO US, AND A RETURN TO A MIDWEEK SCHEDULE.

WE USED THEM LATE LAST YEAR AFTER WE MOVED INTO OUR NEW HOME. THE TREATMENTS WERE OK, SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. LONG WAIT TIMES ON THE PHONE, NO ONE SEEMED TO KNOW WHAT THE STATUS OF OUR ACCOUNT WAS, THEY TREATED THE WRONG HOUSE ONCE AND CAUSED A LARGE HASSLE GETTING IT RECONCILED (THEY DIDN'T BELIEVE ME), SEVERAL DIFFERENT SALESMAN CALLED TRYING TO SELL ME ADDITIONAL SERVICES, ON AND ON. THIS SPRING, WE THOUGHT WE'D GIVE THEM ONE MORE CHANCE. BAD MOVE. THEY CAME OUT FOR THE FIRST TREATMENT OF THE SEASON WITH NO PHONE CALL (SURPRISE!), THEN CALLED TO SEE WHY WE HADN'T PAID IT IMMEDIATELY (NEVER BILLED). WHEN I CALLED TO BOOK AN AERATION, SAID THEY'D BE OUT SAME WEEK. TWO WEEKS PASS, I CALL AGAIN. WAS TOLD ''SOMETIME IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS, BUT WE CAN'T SAY EXACTLY WHEN''. THAT WOULD'VE BEEN FOUR WEEKS FROM MY ORIGINAL REQUEST. TOO MUCH HASSLE, TOO LITTLE SERVICE. I'VE MOVED ONTO ANOTHER ANGIE'S LIST COMPANY AND AM VERY PLEASED THUS FAR. WOULD *NOT* RECOMMEND THIS TRUGREEN BRANCH.

EARLIER THIS YEAR, I CALLED AND CANCELLED THEIR SERVICES. THEIR REPRESENTATIVES KEPT CALLING AND ASKING ME WHY I WANTED TO CANCEL. I TOLD THEM I DID NOT SEE EXPECTED IMPROVEMENT. THEY KEPT CALLING AND THEY INCREASINGLY BECAME FORCEFUL AND SOMETIMES VERY RUDE. ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 9TH, THEY SHOWED UP AND SPRAYED MY LAWN AND LEFT A BILL. I CALLED THEIR OFFICE AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD NO RECORD FOR MY CANCELLATION. I WILL NEVER USE THEIR SERVICE AGAIN.

ON TIME WITH SERVICE. THEY DID A GOOD JOB AND THE PRICE WAS GOOD, TOO.

THE LAWN LOOKS GREAT AND THE PRICES ARE VERY REASONABLE. ONLY DRAWBACK IS THAT THEY CALL FAIRLY OFTEN TO SELL OTHER 'APPLICATIONS' FOR YOUR YARD OR TREES.
