They are doing a fine job so far. They have only been out here for a couple treatments. I was impressed with them. The individual who did the yard advised me about what some of the problems were. He gave me some tips on how to deal with some issues in the yard with variant grasses and so forth. He gave some planting recommendations and information about trees. The treatment was good. They were very polite and professional. They left feedback on the door after each treatment. So far, I am happy with them. Their pricing is fine for the work they are doing. Our yard is starting to have some stresses, so we called them in to rescue our yard. It will take a good year for our lawn to recover. In a year, I will have a better idea of their service. They quoted me a competitive price. I'm not unhappy with the pricing at this point. They have certainly dealt with our weeds. The dandelions were dying within two hours. Over the past three years, we have had a lot of weeds in our neighborhood. Their weed control was highly effective.
Description of Work: They aerated my lawn, and they treated my lawn earlier.

They are a huge company here. It would have been nice to know some smaller company that does this type of work for a better price. They charge $40 each time. They do very well. If I find weeds and call them, then they would come out immediately to treat them as a part of the service contract.
Description of Work: I use the services of TruGreen Chemlawn for lawn service and weed treatment. I have an annual service contract with them and I use them for seven applications throughout the year.

They will be starting this week. They were very prompt. We did an online thing. They called back within probably 15 minutes of our responding to a website. There was some good pricing. They are reasonable. They are competitive and right now they have got some good deals going on. They estimated the cost as $360.00 to do our lawn.
Description of Work: Tru Green came out a week ago and gave us an estimate on doing all the lawn applications.

A gentleman came to my neighborhood advertising lawn treatment and since I badly needed it I agreed and prepaid for the entire season totaling $188.70 for six applications (refunded $62.90 for 2 applications). Soon after TruGreen came out and did the first application. This is where the positive narrative ends and begins a frustrating back and forth at the end of which I ended up being the loser. My village began construction on our street shortly after the first treatment negating any benefits of treating the lawn. However, neither they nor I knew about it so I considered it a valid application nonetheless. I called TruGreen and notified them of the construction and requesting to postpone the rest of the applications until the construction is over. I told them I'd call them back to let them know it's ok to resume. They agreed and "noted it" in their system. That is until I saw their team on my lawn one fine morning. I asked them why they came and they said that they'd sent me fliers notifying me of the upcoming applications so I should be expecting this. I relayed to them the gist of my latest phone call to the office and asked them to put the whole thing on hold yet again. I explained that I simply assumed their system wasn't intelligent enough to differentiate the reps' notes. The techs were sympathetic and having only just started the work they agreed that I shouldn't be charged and they'd tell "the office" to hold the applications again. This is where things got extremely repetitive. TruGreen kept sending the fliers and would stubbornly come out to do the applications regardless of my attempts to stop them. Their phone system lacks call waiting so if you aren't lucky to get a rep when you call it kicks you off with a polite "try again" message. So communicating with them is a huge pain. In a completely blatant episode they came out at the end of the season and did an application on a lawn completely covered with foliage. My last conversation was with their manager who insisted that they did everything by the book ("we sent you fliers") and that according to their notes this was handled properly. Well, that's a shame because according to my "notes" I kept asking them to do a simple thing and they never complied. So I got extraneous lawn treatment and this season I have just about the same number of weeds as the last. Thanks for nothing TruGreen!

I called originally because of weed problems and was given an explanation about the importance of balanced treatments. The company sold me an annual package of several different periodic treatments. The weather has turned warm and the weed application still has not happened. I have tried to get in touch with the "technician" for two weeks. Calls are routed to an answering service. Calls are NEVER returned. The weeds continue to grow. The is possibly the least responsive company I have ever done business with. The fees are high, the customer service is poor, the result is also poor.
Description of Work: Periodic fertilizer and weed control applications are ordered in advance and then are carried out according to a schedule. Paperwork describing the work performed is left in the door together with the name of a technician (and a telephone number) who can be called with any questions.

Description of Work: I had problems with weeds last august & complained. They came back out but never did get rid of the weeds I was complaining about. I was very satisfied until recently. During thier last visit, the technician told me that both of my fir trees looked great. When I went out to check the trees, this was not the case. One of my trees is nearly dead. I have spent $1400 with another company to try to save the tree. When I contacted the Supervisor at Tru Green I did not get the response I hoped for. I have always been happy in the past, but I will no longer be using Tru Green.

I am going to have them come this year as well. I have a contact with them for five visits a year. It was a good price. They got the expertise in putting it down; I don't have to read those chemicals. There is an extra charge for the pest control. I get very concerned when my lawn has any kind of weeds, I know that they fertilize it all but if there are any weeds that I notice in between the treatment they will come out and spray for that. So I don't have to worry for any poisons. They don't charge extra for that which I thought was a good idea. I cannot say anything bad about them. I have had companies in the past that put fertilizer down and it burned my lawn out. Overall they are good.
Description of Work: I used Trugreen Chemlawn last in October. They are weed killers and they fertilize the grass.

I gave the company a failing rating because it was my experience their treatments were killing my lawn, they wouldn't stop the treatments until my contract was complete, their customer service is a joke, and their corporate office has problems processing payment by check. Though they were always punctual about showing up, whether I wanted them to or not. Despite my best efforts, my front lawn has been slowly dying off for the past couple years,. My back lawn is healthy from a recent re-sodding. When the TruGreen's salesman pitched their services, I decided to try them and see if a professional could do better. I declined to set up an automatic payment, preferring to pay by check. The salesman tried to push the auto-payment, but I held firm. I signed a contract for four treatments. After the first treatment, my grass didn't improve, but the crabgrass got a lot healthier in both the sick front and healthy back. I didn't think much about it at that time and just dug up what I could and seeded regular grass. I received my first invoice and mailed the payment to their corporate headquarters in Kentucky. About a month later, I got an angry phone call saying that American Express declined my debit card. I told the guy that I didn't know what he was talking about: I don't have an American Express debit card, and I paid by check. After I hung up, I reviewed my records, and I saw the check had not been cashed. After the second treatment, the crabgrass exploded! The regular grass in both the front and the back became a brownish-gray and dry, looking like it was burned chemically. At this point, I felt there was a connection. I called the local number and left a message, telling them to stop spraying because the treatments were hurting my grass. I called their 24-hour line to make sure they got the message, but was told by a recorded message that all the operators were busy and to call back later. No matter when I called, I got the recording. So when the invoice came, I mailed another check to the pay-to address in Kentucky, and I included a letter telling them the treatment was hurting my lawn, so please stop. The next month after extra watering healed most of the chemically burned grass, I sprayed a crabgrass control chemical I bought at the local hardware store. The crabgrass turned sick and died in about a week. I thatched out the worst of the dead patches and reseeded. Meanwhile, neither check I sent for payment had been cashed. I started getting angry phone calls from the local office again saying my debit card had been declined, and that they were going to enter this in my credit report and take me to court. He demanded I pay by credit card that instant. I told the guy I would send a payment by certified mail the next day, told him not to spray my lawn again, and not to call again. The next day, I sent a second payment for both treatments by certified mail. I included an angry letter telling that they were fired and to stop killing my lawn. During the five days it took for the payment to be processed, I received at least 15 calls regarding my "declined debit card," generally around 6:30 PM. The rudeness and abusiveness of the calls escalated with each one, to the point where I was considering file a harassment complaint with the police. The day after the check I sent by registered mail cleared. The local office came by and sprayed again. Once again, the crabgrass exploded, and the regular grass turned a dry, brownish-gray. I was very angry. I called and yelled at the guy in the local office. He was unapologetic: I signed a contract for four treatments, so my lawn will receive four treatments, even if it killed it. A week later, the guy showed up and sprayed for the fourth and final time. Even my healthy backyard wasn't healthy anymore. I spoke to a friend who is a lawyer. His advice was pay the final bill and walk away. It would be much more of a hassle dealing with a collection agency. If I need to re-sod, which is possible due to the double-treatment in the space of a week, then I can think about taking legal action against the company. I made the mistake of just mailing the payment: it disappeared like first two. I began receiving the same harassing calls about my non-existent debit card being declined. When I received a second invoice, I sent the payment by certified mail, along with another letter stating that the contract I signed was fulfilled and threatening legal action if they ever came near my lawn again. After I saw the final payment had cleared, I called the local office during regular business hours, and I spoke to the manager. I told him that they were never to come back. He was very apologetic then, and said he would note that we were no longer their customer. If I changed my mind, I should feel free to call them. I think this was the same guy harassing me about my non-existent debit card. About a week later, a supervisor from the company called to find out if there was anyway "to make this right." I told him not poisoning my lawn would be a start. He started babbling about the possibilities of what happened. I told him the problem was they wouldn't stop when the treatments weren't working, to shut the H*** up, and never bother me again. This should be the end of my experience with TruGreen. If I have to re-sod, I'll let a lawyer handle it.
Description of Work: I ordered their basic lawn fertilization service: four treatments at $40 a shot.

I contacted Trugreen last April, 2010. They began service and after 2 applications I still had a yard full of weeds. They tell you if you are not happy, you can call and they will retreat your yard. I did. By the end of the season I still had a yard full of weeds. I called Sept. to cancel the service due to the weeds still growing in my yard. Their response was, since I was unhappy they would do an application for free. I said ok, thinking nothing of it, since they do that if you are unhappy with the weed control. 2 days later a manger called me and ask if I would like to buy addition services since he had been out to my house and saw all the weeds still growing in the yard. I explained that I had just called and canceled the service. He said there was no record, but he would fix it. A couple weeks after that, while I was not at home they came and did another application. Soooo I received a bill for 2 application I did not want. When I called they explained that by excepting the additional application I did not cancel my service. These people are very good at this. I am sure I am not the only person they have done this way! Not only do they have poor service, but they do not keep records. Someone from Trugreen call me this week and ask if I would consider starting my service again? MY response was DO NOT STEP FOOT ON MY PROPERTY. BEWARE!!!

I met these people through a mailer for a really low price. When I called I was course told that price was for a very small yard and that my price would be $57.00 per month. But if I would auto-pay it would be reduced to about $44 or so. They advised it would be an annual contract until I canceled by callling or writing in. After that call, I was called multiple times daily and when you answer no one would there. This went on for weeks. I contacted the main office and told them to STOP calling me as I was already a client. They said they would. Hung up within one hour they called back soliciting. Again I called and told them to take me off all their lists or I would cancel my service and stop the auto-pay. I guess money talks as the calls stopped. After the inspector person came to my house mentioned above, I decided I would look for other services. I called the main number 847-680-8088 on 12-8-09, spoke with Joanna "a supervisor" advised I wanted my service cancelled. She confirmed it would not be a problem. I asked if I need to write a letter or fax anything in. She stated absolutely not I was cancelled and then ask if there was any way to get my account back. I said I was not interested. Then in February of 2010 I received a letter from them in regards to my "lock-in" program, which needed response by March 31st.. It appeared to me that Joanna had not cancelled my service or there was a flaw in the system. On February 28th sent a letter by first class mail and certified as well with copies of their lock-in program letter and requested they cease contacting me as I had cancelled my service December 8th. I also stated that if they treated my yard any further it would be a complementary service. So on April 8th, I arrive home to find a service flag in the yard and a bill stuffed in the door. I again called 847-680-8088, spoke with Chester who advise that people make mistakes and he will cancel the service for me. He advised there were notes of my contacting their office ever. I also sent another letter the same day advising they had treated my lawn complementary I am assuming since it was not authorized. This letter stated all the prior facts and contacts and I finally advised that they are not to TREPASS on my property and to cease and desist contacting me in anyway. It is only April 25th but so far so good. They are more trouble than the OK grass was worth.
Description of Work: This company performed lawn treatment, fertilizer and pest control for my yard for the 2009 season. I have to assume the service was done fairly well as I received notices that they were at my home but I never saw them but once. The grass looked OK not great. They left messages about my watering etc. But I actually never watered one time. But they said I was doing a great job and to keep it up! Once I was called by a supervisor because I answered one of their surveys. He called to advise that I did not know what I was talking about regarding their company and that I should give them another chance. I had no idea what he was talking about because at that time they were still the provider. I met another employee once who was parked outside my house for about an hour one day. I asked what he was doing as he had been in my backyard. He stated he was doing an inspection because of my survey responses. Information left stated they thought my grass looked great and to keep watering. That is it for onsite people.

I have used their services for several years and they come out about 7 times a year for my lawn maintenance. They do lawn fertilization, use weed killers and control crabgrass through pre-emergence. I have had some issues with them. They aren't consistent with their service. They didn't do their job properly, as crabgrass had grown once again. They came back to redo it and I have always had good luck with that. I had some weed problems last year and that's what I pay for. They are pretty good overall, but the people that they have aren't consistent with their quality of service.

After contacting several companies for this service, we selected TruGreen. After the first treatment the lawn weeds began to die and the grass seemed to thicken up. More importantly, the invasive "Creeping Charley" area that's been getting larger every year was nearly eradicated. A second treatment just about got it all and the lawn looks great. We'll be re-subscribing to their service for at least two, maybe three or four treatments a year now. It's money well-spent!

We are very happy with them. We have them call first. They used to do it like they would come out regularly, but sometimes we didn't know and some of the things they would recommend doing like grub treatment we didn't want to have them automatically open our check book. If they are planning a schedule, they need to call and get approval before they do the job. Our lawn is medium sized. They spray the grass once every six weeks for 90 bucks. Our lawn was so good and looks so nice in the area we live in that all the neighbors use it. We won the lawn beautification contest. Where I used to live, we had the worst lawn in the neighborhood. It was dead and scraggly and it was patchy. Since we have used them, it is so thick it is hard to mow it. It is green and I can't believe I have got the nicest yard in the neighborhood. It has to do with the treatment they put on the lawn night and day. Our neighbor had it at first when we first moved in and we called them to do ours. They put plastic sticks in the yard after they sprayed it. Four or five neighbors have now started using them. The quality of service and the products are good. Nobody is there to watch, but I go by the result. The lawn is really good. They come and spray the trees and last year we decided to save the money and we didn't have them do the tree spraying treatment which is like 120 or something and we really paid for it because we had lots of bugs, lots of stuff, lots of mites, and fungus in the trees. This year we went back to having them spray and it didn't ever come back. It was a real noticeable difference in having it and not having it. They are very responsive and return our phone calls, answer our questions, and keep us in the loop with information and they do it real well. I am never there when they come by, so I wouldn't know about their professionalism, knowledge, courtesy, respect for us and our home, our property and the neighbors. It is probably three years ago the last time I was actually home when they came by. The grass is dark forest green color. We don't have crab grass or weeds or anything. It's just thick grass. Whatever they spray on there does the trick. There is no misunderstanding there that they are just driving by and throwing a bag of stuff out and charging us. The price we pay is debatable. It's probably not cheap when compared to other people that do it, but I know that people that do this spraying have to be licensed, so that can be kind of pricey. I realize that the business is seasonal and that in the wintertime they have to keep the guys on and keep their business going when nobody uses their service. I realize that they have to do the best they can do and charge whatever they charge because they cannot work with those chemicals. Not just anybody can come and spray the lawns. Twelve years ago it was giving everybody cancer. With a reputable company like that, they can't afford unhappy customers or lawsuits so they probably toe the line really well. My overall experience has been very positive.

They are good. They go out of their way to make things right. They treat the lawn with weeds and fertilizers. They do a good job and my lawn looks good. I don?t know if there is anyone else who can get the job done like them. The price that they charge is cheap. The quality of their work is good and I like the results. They come and do the job all by themselves. Their responsiveness is good, as they stick to their schedule. I have never had to call them and remind them about anything. They are professional too. I recommend them to others.
Description of Work: I have been using Trugreen Chemlawn for about 4 years for my lawn maintenance. The last time I used their services was 3 weeks ago.
