Mendel Plumbing and Heating

Mendel performed this service and replaced some UV light bulbs (for allergens). Always on-time and professional, it's nice to see the same personnel return to the house; I find comfort in that. |We use Mendel for a variety of services. We had a plumbing leak and they diagnosed that problem and corrected it. Even provided a drywall expert to patch up the wall. Everyone involved was great to work with. |We trust Mendel, have used them for years without a single problem.

We were originally charged for 2.25 hours of labor when they were only here for 1.25 hours. I called the manager and explained that I had been overcharged and they sent me a refund for the extra hour charged. They were very accommodating and prompt in correcting the problem. I'm not sure if all plumbers charge for travel time between calls?

I used Mendel for many years, and in the early days they were great. As the years went by their service and customer focus became terrible. I hired them to replace my furnace, central air, and many inside and outside plumbing. I was also a yearly maintenance subscriber. The quality of work not only decreased but they would not cover work they had done. The last straw was when during yearly maintenance on the furnace they installed and the tech told me there were cracks in the chamber. I believed them and they told me the parts were covered but their time was not. I still trusted them and moved forward, having them do the work. They priced it at $800. The tech who came was great. He called his boss to let them know he was finishing early and to get a new price. He was on his cell phone and I could hear his boss clearly. When he asked for the new price due to an extremely lower use of time I heard his boss tell him to find other things wrong. The tech said no. It was this coupled with all of the other negative changes that made me vow to NEVER use them again and tell anyone who asked not to use them.

They performed the Peppermint test..and found sewer gas in the toliet areas. So they changed the seals, the smell is gone. Why didn't they perform the Peppermint test from the attic the first time? Over $2000. spent.

Furnace tuneup and humidifier maintenance

The approximate date of service is not accurate in this questionnaire. I didn't have an option to pick an earlier date. If I needed a plumber for my home I would call them first.

I have used Mendel Plumbing for all my plumbing needs for many years. They are quick to schedule an appointment when I call with a service need. They are prompt for the appointment and ALWAYS wear shoe covers. They provide information on the equipment to get the most efficient operation of the equipment. The most recent service call was for the Reverse Osmosis filtration system. The pressure tank was bad and needed to be replaced.

several good experiences years ago and one really bad experience which they eventually made good except for my out of pocket expenses for wet carpet on two occasions. They are expensive and I've found better alternatives.

we've used them for years but finally had enough. It appears as if their service people are paid on commission as they are always pushing new products when the existing equipment is fine. Four years ago they told us our AC compressor was on it's last legs, still working fine. Tried to push us once to replace the entire toilet when all we needed was a drain routing.

He not only fixed the problem but showed me how to keep it working efficiently. Their prices were reasonable and he was extremely helpful. His advice has kept my disposal working since.

Stopped water leak at humidifier then returned tithe following week to replace the unit.

We had to have a very noisy and loose ejector pump replaced. They came out the same afternoon I called and the work was done completely and professionally. Would highly recommend them for other jobs. While they are pricey, you get what you pay for with this company.

Excellent, professional work - very clean. And no leaks.

Two servicemen came out. One replaced the outside water spigot that had a stripped handle and did not function. ($160.20) The other man performed the winter checkup on the furnace and humidifier. (($275.00 for a service contract which includes this furnace and humidifier work and next spring's air conditioning checkup).

Operatory cabinet light not working. Found loose starter - twisted back in and replaced bulb. Adjusted bulb socket on right.

Mendel, in my opinion, is a good plumber but a completre remodeling job is a little out of thier comfort zone. There was a good deal of miscommunication on materials, some of which I admit was as much my fault as Mendel's. The quality of the work, however, was not what I would expect from a plumbing contractor. The plumber that originally installed the shower feed put the valve in incorrectly ( hot and cold seeds reversed) and more importantly cracked the brass el by over tightening it. The experience plumber that came to finish up was a true professional and, rather than just let it slide, did the right thing and told me about the cracked el and fixed it. Unfortunately, the fix involved removing a section of the wall in the bedroom. The plumber did a good job of repair and their tile guy repainted the wall. There were also some leaking drain connections on the sink which, although easily fixed, were not expected from a plumbing contractor.

Requested repair to furnace. Sent kid that could not fix furnace and he called service manager who proceeded to try to sell me a new furnace. They finally fixed the furnace which was a simple wire disconnected on the thermostat.

I have used Mendel for years because I trust their work. The heating and air conditioning specialists are always professional and willing to answer any questions I may have. On this visit, Chuck took the time to show me some things on the thermostat that I had not previously been shown. Mendel installed new energy efficient air conditioners and furnaces for us six years ago. We had been using them prior to this installation for general maintenance and repairs. They may be a little more expensive, but I can always count on them in an emergency and be assured the work is done right.

Furnace checked out fine. Humidifier found not to be working. The service tech determined it needed a new control board. He quoted $450.00 for the part and installation less discount for a total of $405.00. I declined the repair. It seemed way too expensive and it was as it turned out. Lowe's sells the exact humidifier brand new for $237.00. I ended up buying the control board direct from Honeywell for $97.00. It only took 15 minutes to install. I know they need to make a profit but this seems to be out of line. I have used Mendel for many years and have always been happy with their work and customer service in the office. I hope the humidifier was just a fluke.
