They follow-up with either a phone call or "snail mail" to determine if I am satisfied with their service. Their pricing is competitive and a great investment. We have used Mendel's for about 20 years. They are consistently great!
Description of Work: Mendel's provides an annual service contract for our HVAC system in our condo. They have also provided electrical work from fan installation to light switches. They have also installed a garbage disposal.

 + -1 moreTook an hour for electrician to figure out that the problem was with alarm box shorting out the motor. This seemed like a pretty long time and this determination only came after he scared me several times with thinking I was going to have to tear up my sidewalk and yard to get at the electric problem underground. Eeek!

 + -1 moreMy chosen contractor really left me in a bind with this house. He went over budget, was frequently absent from the job, and eventually abandoned the project. The outward appearance of his work looked very nice. However, when I finally obtained a contract on the home, the home inspection raised many significant concerns. Our closing date was of crucial importance to me. In a panic, I called Mendel to provide the corrective actions listed above. I don't know what I would have done without these experienced professionals! I have used Mendel for my own home maintenance for the past three years. This is the second time that Mendel Plumbing has demonstrated to me it's commitment to providing it's customers with excellent customer service, quality workmanship, and integrity. While other companies may provide a more competitive price, you really get what you pay for with this company. Most importantly, they stand behind their work!
Description of Work: I had purchased a home as an investment property and had arranged for a contractor to fix up the property. During the home inspection, several items were not done to code, or were not completed at all. I called in Mendel Plumbing to correct the problems. Three separate jobs were done: 1. The furnace was reassembled with a newly installed furnace (botched job from another company). Exchanged all rusted out parts with new parts and corrected leak problem. Cost $1583. 2. Plumbing; they redid the dishwasher/disposal hookup to meet code. Exchanged a leaky pipe to the main water valve. Caulked the newly installed shower for $936. 3. Electricity; they inspected the faulty electrical work to bring it up to code. They grounded the wire by the main water valve, and grounded the main fuse box. Live wires that were left behind from newly installed drywall under the stairwell in the basement were properly connected and inspected for $143.

 + -1 moreThey were not very clean, i.e. marked up the wall with rooter device and of course the inevitable tracking sewage through the house but thought they could be cleaner. Way way way way too expensive...highway robbery or price gouging because nothing else was available on Saturday morning...call it what you want, but too expensive.

 + -1 moreDURING THEIR INSPECTION THEY BROKE OFF ONE OF OUR SHOWER HEADS. AFTER SEVERAL CALLS TO MENDEL, THEY HAVE YET TO RETURN TO FIX IT. AFTER PAINTING, THE STAIN SHOWED UP AGAIN SO I DID SOME INSPECTING OF MY OWN. WHAT I FOUND WAS A CRACK IN THE FIBERGLASS OF THE TUB THAT WAS MISSED BY THE PROS. THE FACT THAT IT COST ME $200 FOR SOMEONE TO BREAK MY SHOWER, AND RECOMMEND I DO SOME PAINTING, AND MISS FINDING THE CAUSE OF THE LEAK IS TROUBLING. WE HAVE HAD GOOD SERVICE FROM MENDEL IN THE PAST SO THIS VISIT PROVED TO BE QUITE DISAPPOINTING.
Description of Work: I NOTICED WATER STAINS ON THE CEILING OF OUR KITCHEN WHICH IS DIRECTLY UNDER OUR UPSTAIRS BATHROOMS SO I CALLED MENDEL TO COME OUT TO IDENTIFY THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY CAME OUT AND SPENT 4 HOURS LOOKING FOR THE CAUSE. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T TELL WHAT WAS MAKING THE LEAK, BUT SINCE IT WASN'T THAT BIG THEY RECOMMENDED PAINTING OVER THE STAINS WITH A GOOD PRIMER AND PAINT.

THE 2ND FOLLOWUP CALL HAD A MUCH MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE TECHNICIAN -- HE FIXED THE PROBLEM BY OPENING SOME CLOSED VENTS. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DONE ON THE ORIGINAL CALL WHEN THE MOTOR WAS REPLACED. SOME GOOD TECHS, SOME NOT SO GOOD. I PERSONALLY WON''T TAKE THE CHANCE AGAIN.
