I called and he said that he would schedule a time during the week to come out and give me an estimate. He took so long to call back (over a week) that he lost my business.

This contractor did nothing. We called him on Friday he said he would be out the next week, he never called and didn't show up,that is unprofessional in my book. If he didn't want to do the job he should have just said so.

The raccoon mess was very big and very stinky and was no doubt a ghastly job to do. The workers had to suit up in hazmat gear and crawl into very cramped quarters wielding shovels and large vacuum hoses, but they cheerfully, neatly and quickly removed all traces (supplying before and after pictures for our enjoyment) and then did a marvelous job of sealing the whole area with some pretty nifty spray-on insulation. We're all cleaned out and tight as a drum, and we're breathing much easier now. For our other project House Smart designed and built a beautiful closet that was carefully constructed to marry into the existing 1920's detailing of our craftsman bungalow. The crown molding details and solid wood sliding doors took the project from just a utilitarian addition to a fine piece of furniture. My favorite feature is the set of built-in shoe cubbyholes, cleverly tucked into the inside of the new closet. Brilliant! This crew came up with creative solutions to a few tricky parts of the job and were skillful, efficient and cheerful to boot. We'd use them again, for sure. Oh, and that last little bit - somewhere in all of the sawing and planing, a few mysterious shims and reinforcements showed up in key positions under our inside stairs and bannister, and now they are suddenly solid and straight. Chris, a true craftsman, doesn't rest well if something creaks too much or isn't plumb. It was a lovely bonus!

I've used House Smart Remodeling several times in the past. Owner Chris Freund is very professional. He does excellent craftsmen work, always on time, and so reasonably priced. I will definitely use him again for any upcoming project.

The project went very well. Chris Freund stayed on the project from start to finish. He responded to any problems that came up during the project and stayed within the budget. Because we went from a stone front to ceder siding front, he had to make special trim for the outside lights and outlets which looks very nice.

Our 17 year old home was in need of a facelift and we were running out of living space. We contacted Chris and his team pertaining to an estimate for replacement of a deck & gazeebo, and finishing an unfinished basement for us. Chris earned our business with his professionalism, prompt follow up, and integrity in terms of costs and quality. The job went smooth from start to finish! Chris drew up plans to finish our basement and worked with us through the entire process. We couldn't be happier with our beautiful basement. Our friends just rave and everyone comments on the quality of work that was done & ask for his card for work to be done at their own homes. House Smart put in a full bathroom, with tiled shower and floors, storage throughout, custom built cabinets, high end finishes with stone columns, etc. in our basement. We threw quite a bit at them and everytime, they answered with phenomenal work at a fair price. Our rebuilt deck is a space we can now enjoy 3/4 of the year with storm windows, electricity, and solid craftmanship. Chris would always tell us that he was "not just going to build just anything for us, but build something that would last!" As a result of the positive work experience, we gave them even more work by having them reconfigure our laundry room and turn it into a mud room as well as give a facelift to our half bath with paint, new sinks, tile flooring, and toilet. We absolutely loved working with this company. The professionalism, communication, and consideration for the customer that everyone on the team displayed have earned them a lifelong customer. Our family has room to grow & it feels like we have a new house. Chris and his crew were wonderful to work with and we plan on having them remodel our master bathroom next year! Chris was prompt with his estimate and presented himself professionally. We opted to use another contractor, but would ask him to bid other jobs in the future.

Chris said he would be to my house by 8:00am and he arrived on time. He went right to work and it took only a couple of hours. When he was finished he showed me the work he performed. He left the partial basement cleaner than I had left it for him. He also sprayed the basement with an insecticide to keep the spiders out. He was very professional and respectful. We walked around the house and I showed him some other repairs and he suggested how I could fix these myself and it would not cost a lot. This means a lot to me since I have only my income to rely on.

We were very happy from the start of the project to the end. Chris went above and beyond what we expected! The project was reviewed with us in detail prior to starting and there were not any surprises. The project stayed on task, they were very professional and worked around our sometimes crazy household! I never worried about the language or actions of the crew around our children which from past experiences have been an issue. Also, not only did Chris spend alot of time with us on this current project, but he also walked around the entire house (since we recently moved in) and pointed out things that might be an issue at some point or things we needed to address for safety. This was a huge bonus for us. We will use his crew in the future for other projects!

He recommended to use PVC for the posts instead of wood so the ants wouldn't be able to get back inside them. He worked all day and finished the job in 1 day. I would definitely use him again. I think we are going to get him to give us a quote to redo do our soffits with vinyl.
